Today's Date: ======= Amos 6:1 ============ Amo 6:1 Woe to those who are at ease in Zion And to those who feel secure in the mountain of Samaria, The distinguished men of the foremost of nations, To whom the house of Israel comes.(nas) Amo 6:1 οὐαὶ τοῖς ἐξουθενοῦσιν Σιων καὶ τοῖς πεποιθόσιν ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος Σαμαρείας ἀπετρύγησαν ἀρχὰς ἐθνῶν καὶ εἰσῆλθον αὐτοί οἶκος τοῦ Ισραηλ (lxx) Amo 6:1 [Væ qui opulenti estis in Sion, et confiditis in monte Samariæ: optimates capita populorum, ingredientes pompatice domum Israël!(vulgate) 1 ׃6 ה֚וֹי הַשַּׁאֲנַנִּ֣ים בְּצִיּ֔וֹן וְהַבֹּטְחִ֖ים בְּהַ֣ר שֹׁמְר֑וֹן נְקֻבֵי֙ רֵאשִׁ֣ית הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וּבָ֥אוּ לָהֶ֖ם בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Amos Amo 6:1 Weh den Stolzen zu Zion und denen, die sich auf den Berg Samarias verlassen, den Vornehmsten des Erstlings unter den Völkern, und zu denen das Haus Israel kommt!(dhs) Amo 6:1 Woe to you who are at ease in Zion, And trust in Mount Samaria, Notable persons in the chief nation, To whom the house of Israel comes!(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:2 ============ Amo 6:2 Go over to Calneh and look, And go from there to Hamath the great, Then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are they better than these kingdoms, Or is their territory greater than yours?(nas) Amo 6:2 διάβητε πάντες καὶ ἴδετε καὶ διέλθατε ἐκεῖθεν εἰς Εμαθ Ραββα καὶ κατάβητε ἐκεῖθεν εἰς Γεθ ἀλλοφύλων τὰς κρατίστας ἐκ πασῶν τῶν βασιλειῶν τούτων εἰ πλέονα τὰ ὅρια αὐτῶν ἐστιν τῶν ὑμετέρων ὁρίων (lxx) Amo 6:2 Transite in Chalane, et videte, et ite inde in Emath magnam, et descendite in Geth Palæstinorum, et ad optima quæque regna horum: si latior terminus eorum termino vestro est.(vulgate) 2 ׃6 עִבְר֤וּ כַֽלְנֵה֙ וּרְא֔וּ וּלְכ֥וּ מִשָּׁ֖ם חֲמַ֣ת רַבָּ֑ה וּרְד֣וּ גַת־פְּלִשְׁתּ֗ים הֲטוֹבִים֙ מִן־הַמַּמְלָכ֣וֹת הָאֵ֔לֶּה אִם־רַ֥ב גְּבוּלָ֖ם מִגְּבֻלְכֶֽם׃ Amos Amo 6:2 Gehet hin gen Kalne und schauet, und von da gen Hamath, die große Stadt, und zieht hinab gen Gath der Philister, welche bessere Königreiche gewesen sind denn diese und ihre Grenze weiter denn eure Grenze.(dhs) Amo 6:2 Go over to Calneh and see; And from there go to Hamath the great; Then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Or is their territory greater than your territory?(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:3 ============ Amo 6:3 Do you put off the day of calamity, And would you bring near the seat of violence?(nas) Amo 6:3 οἱ ἐρχόμενοι εἰς ἡμέραν κακήν οἱ ἐγγίζοντες καὶ ἐφαπτόμενοι σαββάτων ψευδῶν (lxx) Amo 6:3 Qui separati estis in diem malum, et appropinquatis solio iniquitatis;(vulgate) 3 ׃6 הַֽמְנַדִּ֖ים לְי֣וֹם רָ֑ע וַתַּגִּישׁ֖וּן שֶׁ֥בֶת חָמָֽס׃ Amos Amo 6:3 Die ihr euch weit vom bösen Tag achtet und trachtet immer nach Frevelregiment,(dhs) Amo 6:3 Woe to you who put far off the day of doom, Who cause the seat of violence to come near;(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:4 ============ Amo 6:4 Those who recline on beds of ivory And sprawl on their couches, And eat lambs from the flock And calves from the midst of the stall,(nas) Amo 6:4 οἱ καθεύδοντες ἐπὶ κλινῶν ἐλεφαντίνων καὶ κατασπαταλῶντες ἐπὶ ταῖς στρωμναῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἔσθοντες ἐρίφους ἐκ ποιμνίων καὶ μοσχάρια ἐκ μέσου βουκολίων γαλαθηνά (lxx) Amo 6:4 qui dormitis in lectis eburneis, et lascivitis in stratis vestris; qui comeditis agnum de grege, et vitulos de medio armenti;(vulgate) 4 ׃6 הַשֹּֽׁכְבִים֙ עַל־מִטּ֣וֹת שֵׁ֔ן וּסְרֻחִ֖ים עַל־עַרְשׂוֹתָ֑ם וְאֹכְלִ֤ים כָּרִים֙ מִצֹּ֔אן וַעֲגָלִ֖ים מִתּ֥וֹךְ מַרְבֵּֽק׃ Amos Amo 6:4 und schlaft auf elfenbeinernen Lagern und prangt auf euren Ruhebetten; ihr eßt die Lämmer aus der Herde und die gemästeten Kälber,(dhs) Amo 6:4 Who lie on beds of ivory, Stretch out on your couches, Eat lambs from the flock And calves from the midst of the stall;(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:5 ============ Amo 6:5 Who improvise to the sound of the harp, And like David have composed songs for themselves,(nas) Amo 6:5 οἱ ἐπικροτοῦντες πρὸς τὴν φωνὴν τῶν ὀργάνων ὡς ἑστῶτα ἐλογίσαντο καὶ οὐχ ὡς φεύγοντα (lxx) Amo 6:5 qui canitis ad vocem psalterii, sicut David putaverunt se habere vasa cantici,(vulgate) 5 ׃6 הַפֹּרְטִ֖ים עַל־פִּ֣י הַנָּ֑בֶל כְּדָוִ֕יד חָשְׁב֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם כְּלֵי־שִֽׁיר׃ Amos Amo 6:5 und spielt auf dem Psalter und erdichtet euch Lieder wie David,(dhs) Amo 6:5 Who sing idly to the sound of stringed instruments, And invent for yourselves musical instruments like David;(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:6 ============ Amo 6:6 Who drink wine from sacrificial bowls While they anoint themselves with the finest of oils, Yet they have not grieved over the ruin of Joseph.(nas) Amo 6:6 οἱ πίνοντες τὸν διυλισμένον οἶνον καὶ τὰ πρῶτα μύρα χριόμενοι καὶ οὐκ ἔπασχον οὐδὲν ἐπὶ τῇ συντριβῇ Ιωσηφ (lxx) Amo 6:6 bibentes vinum in phialis, et optimo unguento delibuti, et nihil patiebantur super contritione Joseph.(vulgate) 6 ׃6 הַשֹּׁתִ֤ים בְּמִזְרְקֵי֙ יַ֔יִן וְרֵאשִׁ֥ית שְׁמָנִ֖ים יִמְשָׁ֑חוּ וְלֹ֥א נֶחְל֖וּ עַל־שֵׁ֥בֶר יוֹסֵֽף Amos Amo 6:6 und trinkt Wein aus den Schalen und salbt euch mit Balsam und bekümmert euch nicht um den Schaden Josephs.(dhs) Amo 6:6 Who drink wine from bowls, And anoint yourselves with the best ointments, But are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:7 ============ Amo 6:7 Therefore, they will now go into exile at the head of the exiles, And the sprawlers' banqueting will pass away.(nas) Amo 6:7 διὰ τοῦτο νῦν αἰχμάλωτοι ἔσονται ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς δυναστῶν καὶ ἐξαρθήσεται χρεμετισμὸς ἵππων ἐξ Εφραιμ (lxx) Amo 6:7 Quapropter nunc migrabunt in capite transmigrantium, et auferetur factio lascivientium.(vulgate) 7 ׃6 לָכֵ֛ן עַתָּ֥ה יִגְל֖וּ בְּרֹ֣אשׁ גֹּלִ֑ים וְסָ֖ר מִרְזַ֥ח סְרוּחִֽים׃ פ Amos Amo 6:7 Darum sollen sie nun vornan gehen unter denen, die gefangen weggeführt werden, und soll das Schlemmen der Pranger aufhören.(dhs) Amo 6:7 Therefore they shall now go captive as the first of the captives, And those who recline at banquets shall be removed.(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:8 ============ Amo 6:8 The Lord God has sworn by Himself, the Lord God of hosts has declared: "I loathe the arrogance of Jacob, And detest his citadels; Therefore I will deliver up the city and all it contains."(nas) Amo 6:8 ὅτι ὤμοσεν κύριος καθ᾽ ἑαυτοῦ διότι βδελύσσομαι ἐγὼ πᾶσαν τὴν ὕβριν Ιακωβ καὶ τὰς χώρας αὐτοῦ μεμίσηκα καὶ ἐξαρῶ πόλιν σὺν πᾶσιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν αὐτήν (lxx) Amo 6:8 Juravit Dominus Deus in anima sua, dicit Dominus Deus exercituum: Detestor ego superbiam Jacob, et domos ejus odi, et tradam civitatem cum habitatoribus suis.(vulgate) 8 ׃6 נִשְׁבַּע֩ אֲדֹנָ֨י יְהוִ֜ה בְּנַפְשׁ֗וֹ נְאֻם־יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י צְבָא֔וֹת מְתָאֵ֤ב אָֽנֹכִי֙ אֶת־גְּא֣וֹן יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב וְאַרְמְנֹתָ֖יו שָׂנֵ֑אתִי וְהִסְגַּרְתִּ֖י עִ֥יר וּמְלֹאָֽהּ׃ Amos Amo 6:8 Denn der HERR HERR hat geschworen bei seiner Seele, spricht der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth: Mich verdrießt die Hoffart Jakobs, und ich bin ihren Palästen gram; und ich will auch die Stadt übergeben mit allem, was darin ist.(dhs) Amo 6:8 The Lord God has sworn by Himself, The Lord God of hosts says: "I abhor the pride of Jacob, And hate his palaces; Therefore I will deliver up the city And all that is in it."(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:9 ============ Amo 6:9 And it will be, if ten men are left in one house, they will die.(nas) Amo 6:9 καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν ὑπολειφθῶσιν δέκα ἄνδρες ἐν οἰκίᾳ μιᾷ καὶ ἀποθανοῦνται καὶ ὑπολειφθήσονται οἱ κατάλοιποι (lxx) Amo 6:9 Quod si reliqui fuerint decem viri in domo una, et ipsi morientur.(vulgate) 9 ׃6 וְהָיָ֗ה אִם־יִוָּ֨תְר֜וּ עֲשָׂרָ֧ה אֲנָשִׁ֛ים בְּבַ֥יִת אֶחָ֖ד וָמֵֽתוּ׃ Amos Amo 6:9 Und wenngleich zehn Männer in einem Hause übrigbleiben, sollen sie doch sterben,(dhs) Amo 6:9 Then it shall come to pass, that if ten men remain in one house, they shall die.(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:10 ============ Amo 6:10 Then one's uncle, or his undertaker, will lift him up to carry out his bones from the house, and he will say to the one who is in the innermost part of the house, "Is anyone else with you?" And that one will say, "No one." Then he will answer, "Keep quiet. For the name of the Lord is not to be mentioned."(nas) Amo 6:10 καὶ λήμψονται οἱ οἰκεῖοι αὐτῶν καὶ παραβιῶνται τοῦ ἐξενέγκαι τὰ ὀστᾶ αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου καὶ ἐρεῖ τοῖς προεστηκόσι τῆς οἰκίας εἰ ἔτι ὑπάρχει παρὰ σοί καὶ ἐρεῖ οὐκέτι καὶ ἐρεῖ σίγα ἕνεκα τοῦ μὴ ὀνομάσαι τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου (lxx) Amo 6:10 Et tollet eum propinquus suus, et comburet eum, ut efferat ossa de domo; et dicet ei, qui in penetralibus domus est: Numquid adhuc est penes te?(vulgate) 10 ׃6 וּנְשָׂא֞וֹ דּוֹד֣וֹ וּמְסָרְפ֗וֹ לְהוֹצִ֣יא עֲצָמִים֮ מִן־הַבַּיִת֒ וְאָמַ֞ר לַאֲשֶׁ֨ר בְּיַרְכְּתֵ֥י הַבַּ֛יִת הַע֥וֹד עִמָּ֖ךְ וְאָמַ֣ר אָ֑פֶס וְאָמַ֣ר הָ֔ס כִּ֛י לֹ֥א לְהַזְכִּ֖יר בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהוָֽה׃ Amos Amo 6:10 daß einen jeglichen sein Vetter und der ihn verbrennen will, nehmen und die Gebeine aus dem Hause tragen muß und sagen zu dem, der in den Gemächern des Hauses ist: Sind ihrer auch noch mehr da? und der wird antworten: Sie sind alle dahin! Und er wird sagen: Sei still! denn man darf des Namens des HERRN nicht gedenken.(dhs) Amo 6:10 And when a relative of the dead, with one who will burn the bodies, picks up the bodies to take them out of the house, he will say to one inside the house, "Are there any more with you?" Then someone will say, "None." And he will say, "Hold your tongue! For we dare not mention the name of the Lord."(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:11 ============ Amo 6:11 For behold, the Lord is going to command that the great house be smashed to pieces and the small house to fragments.(nas) Amo 6:11 διότι ἰδοὺ κύριος ἐντέλλεται καὶ πατάξει τὸν οἶκον τὸν μέγαν θλάσμασιν καὶ τὸν οἶκον τὸν μικρὸν ῥάγμασιν (lxx) Amo 6:11 Et respondebit: Finis est. Et dicet ei: Tace, et non recorderis nominis Domini.(vulgate) 11 ׃6 כִּֽי־הִנֵּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ מְצַוֶּ֔ה וְהִכָּ֛ה הַבַּ֥יִת הַגָּד֖וֹל רְסִיסִ֑ים וְהַבַּ֥יִת הַקָּטֹ֖ן בְּקִעִֽים׃ Amos Amo 6:11 Denn siehe, der HERR hat geboten, daß man die großen Häuser schlagen soll, daß sie Risse gewinnen, und die kleinen Häuser, daß sie Lücken gewinnen.(dhs) Amo 6:11 For behold, the Lord gives a command: He will break the great house into bits, And the little house into pieces.(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:12 ============ Amo 6:12 Do horses run on rocks? Or does one plow them with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into poison And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,(nas) Amo 6:12 εἰ διώξονται ἐν πέτραις ἵπποι εἰ παρασιωπήσονται ἐν θηλείαις ὅτι ὑμεῖς ἐξεστρέψατε εἰς θυμὸν κρίμα καὶ καρπὸν δικαιοσύνης εἰς πικρίαν (lxx) Amo 6:12 Quia ecce Dominus mandabit, et percutiet domum majorem ruinis, et domum minorem scissionibus.(vulgate) 12 ׃6 הַיְרֻצ֤וּן בַּסֶּ֙לַע֙ סוּסִ֔ים אִֽם־יַחֲר֖וֹשׁ בַּבְּקָרִ֑ים כִּֽי־הֲפַכְתֶּ֤ם לְרֹאשׁ֙ מִשְׁפָּ֔ט וּפְרִ֥י צְדָקָ֖ה לְלַעֲנָֽה׃ Amos Amo 6:12 Wer kann mit Rossen rennen oder mit Ochsen pflügen auf Felsen? Denn ihr wandelt das Recht in Galle und die Frucht der Gerechtigkeit in Wermut(dhs) Amo 6:12 Do horses run on rocks? Does one plow there with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into gall, And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:13 ============ Amo 6:13 You who rejoice in Lodebar, And say, "Have we not by our own strength taken Karnaim for ourselves?"(nas) Amo 6:13 οἱ εὐφραινόμενοι ἐπ᾽ οὐδενὶ λόγῳ οἱ λέγοντες οὐκ ἐν τῇ ἰσχύι ἡμῶν ἔσχομεν κέρατα (lxx) Amo 6:13 Numquid currere queunt in petris equi, aut arari potest in bubalis? quoniam convertistis in amaritudinem judicium, et fructum justitiæ in absinthium.(vulgate) 13 ׃6 הַשְּׂמֵחִ֖ים לְלֹ֣א דָבָ֑ר הָאֹ֣מְרִ֔ים הֲל֣וֹא בְחָזְקֵ֔נוּ לָקַ֥חְנוּ לָ֖נוּ קַרְנָֽיִם׃ Amos Amo 6:13 und tröstet euch des, das so gar nichts ist, und sprecht: Sind wir denn nicht stark genug mit unsern Hörnern?(dhs) Amo 6:13 You who rejoice over Lo Debar, Who say, "Have we not taken Karnaim for ourselves By our own strength?"(nkjv) ======= Amos 6:14 ============ Amo 6:14 "For behold, I am going to raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel," declares the Lord God of hosts, "And they will afflict you from the entrance of Hamath To the brook of the Arabah."(nas) Amo 6:14 διότι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπεγείρω ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς οἶκος τοῦ Ισραηλ ἔθνος καὶ ἐκθλίψουσιν ὑμᾶς τοῦ μὴ εἰσελθεῖν εἰς Εμαθ καὶ ἕως τοῦ χειμάρρου τῶν δυσμῶν (lxx) Amo 6:14 Qui lætamini in nihilo; qui dicitis: Numquid non in fortitudine nostra assumpsimus nobis cornua? Ecce enim suscitabo super vos, domus Israël, dicit Dominus Deus exercituum, gentem, et conteret vos ab introitu Emath usque ad torrentem deserti.](vulgate) 14 ׃6 כִּ֡י הִנְנִי֩ מֵקִ֨ים עֲלֵיכֶ֜ם בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל נְאֻם־יְהוָ֛ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י הַצְּבָא֖וֹת גּ֑וֹי וְלָחֲצ֥וּ אֶתְכֶ֛ם מִלְּב֥וֹא חֲמָ֖ת עַד־נַ֥חַל הָעֲרָבָֽה׃ ס Amos Amo 6:14 Darum siehe, ich will über euch vom Hause Israel ein Volk erwecken, spricht der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth, das soll euch ängsten von dem Ort an, da man gen Hamath geht, bis an den Bach in der Wüste.(dhs) Amo 6:14 "But, behold, I will raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel," Says the Lord God of hosts; "And they will afflict you from the entrance of Hamath To the Valley of the Arabah."(nkjv) ======= Amos 7:1 ============ top of the page
