(Nestle-Aland) Act 18:1 Post hæc egressus ab Athenis, venit Corinthum:(vulgate) אַחַר הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה עָזַב אֶת־אַתִּינַס וַיָּבֹא אֶל־קוֹרִנְתּוֹס׃ א Acts Act 18:1 Darnach schied Paulus von Athen und kam gen Korinth(dhs) Act 18:1 After these things Paul departed from Athens and went to Corinth.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:2 ============ Act 18:2 And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, having recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. He came to them,(nas) Act 18:2 καὶ εὑρών τινα ἰουδαῖον ὀνόματι ἀκύλαν, ποντικὸν τῶ γένει, προσφάτως ἐληλυθότα ἀπὸ τῆς ἰταλίας καὶ πρίσκιλλαν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ διὰ τὸ διατεταχέναι κλαύδιον χωρίζεσθαι πάντας τοὺς ἰουδαίους ἀπὸ τῆς ῥώμης, προσῆλθεν αὐτοῖς, (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:2 et inveniens quemdam Judæum nomine Aquilam, Ponticum genere, qui nuper venerat ab Italia, et Priscillam uxorem ejus (eo quod præcepisset Claudius discedere omnes Judæos a Roma), accessit ad eos.(vulgate) וַיִּמְצָא שָׁם אִישׁ יְהוּדִי אֲשֶׁר הָיָה שְׁמוֹ עֲקִילַס וְהוּא יְלִיד פּוֹנְטוֹס וְעַתָּה זֶה מִקָּרוֹב בָּא מֵאִיטַלְיָא עִם־פְּרִיסְקְלָה אִשְׁתּוֹ כִּי מֵאֵת קְלוֹדְיוֹס יָצָא צָו אֶל־כָּל־הַיְּהוּדִים לְהֵעָלוֹת מִקֶּרֶב רוֹמִי וּלְעָזְבָהּ וַיָּבֹא אֲלֵיהֶם אֶל־מְעוֹנָם׃ ב Acts Act 18:2 und fand einen Juden mit Namen Aquila, von Geburt aus Pontus, welcher war neulich aus Italien gekommen samt seinem Weibe Priscilla (darum daß der Kaiser Klaudius geboten hatte allen Juden, zu weichen aus Rom).(dhs) Act 18:2 And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla (because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome); and he came to them.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:3 ============ Act 18:3 and because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and they were working, for by trade they were tent-makers.(nas) Act 18:3 καὶ διὰ τὸ ὁμότεχνον εἶναι ἔμενεν παρ᾽ αὐτοῖς καὶ ἠργάζετο· ἦσαν γὰρ σκηνοποιοὶ τῇ τέχνῃ. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:3 Et quia ejusdem erat artis, manebat apud eos, et operabatur. (Erant autem scenofactoriæ artis.)(vulgate) וְיַעַן כִּי הָיוּ בַעֲלֵי מְלָאכָה אַחַת עַל־כֵּן הוֹאִיל לָשֶׁבֶת עִמָּהֶם וַעֲשׂה בַמְּלָאכָה וְהֵם אֹרְגִים מַסֵּכוֹת לְאֹהָלִים׃ ג Acts Act 18:3 Zu denen ging er ein; und dieweil er gleiches Handwerks war, blieb er bei ihnen und arbeitete. (Sie waren aber des Handwerks Teppichmacher).(dhs) Act 18:3 So, because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and worked; for by occupation they were tentmakers.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:4 ============ Act 18:4 And he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.(nas) Act 18:4 διελέγετο δὲ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ κατὰ πᾶν σάββατον, ἔπειθέν τε ἰουδαίους καὶ ἕλληνας. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:4 Et disputabat in synagoga per omne sabbatum, interponens nomen Domini Jesu: suadebatque Judæis et Græcis.(vulgate) וּבְכָל־שַׁבָּת וְשַׁבָּת דִּבֶּר עִם־הַיְּהוּדִים בְּבֵּת־הַכְּנֵסֶת וַיְלַמֵּד דַּעַת גַּם־אֶת־הַיְּהוּדִים וְגַם־אֶת־הַיְּוָנִים׃ ד Acts Act 18:4 Und er lehrte in der Schule an allen Sabbaten und beredete beide, Juden und Griechen.(dhs) Act 18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:5 ============ Act 18:5 But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.(nas) Act 18:5 ὡς δὲ κατῆλθον ἀπὸ τῆς μακεδονίας ὅ τε σιλᾶς καὶ ὁ τιμόθεος, συνείχετο τῶ λόγῳ ὁ παῦλος, διαμαρτυρόμενος τοῖς ἰουδαίοις εἶναι τὸν χριστόν, ἰησοῦν. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:5 Cum venissent autem de Macedonia Silas et Timotheus, instabat verbo Paulus, testificans Judæis esse Christum Jesum.(vulgate) וַיְהִי כְּבֹא אֵלָיו סִילָא וְטִמוֹתִיּוֹס מִמַּקְדּוֹנְיָא הִתְנַדֵּב פּוֹלוֹס כֻּלּוֹ רַק לִדְבַר הַדָּבָר בְּהַרְאֹתוֹ לַיְּהוּדִים בָּרוּר כִּי יֵשׁוּעַ הוּא הַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ ה Acts Act 18:5 Da aber Silas und Timotheus aus Mazedonien kamen, drang Paulus der Geist, zu bezeugen den Juden Jesum, daß er der Christus sei.(dhs) Act 18:5 When Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:6 ============ Act 18:6 But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them, "Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."(nas) Act 18:6 ἀντιτασσομένων δὲ αὐτῶν καὶ βλασφημούντων ἐκτιναξάμενος τὰ ἱμάτια εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς, τὸ αἷμα ὑμῶν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν ὑμῶν· καθαρὸς ἐγώ· ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν εἰς τὰ ἔθνη πορεύσομαι. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:6 Contradicentibus autem eis, et blasphemantibus, excutiens vestimenta sua, dixit ad eos: Sanguis vester super caput vestrum: mundus ego: ex hoc ad gentes vadam.(vulgate) וְהֵם כִּי מָרוּ וְגַם־גִּדְּפוּ וַיְנַעֵר הוּא אֶת־חִצְנוֹ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם דִּמְכֶם בְּרֹאשְׁכֶם וַאֲנִי נָקִי מִכֶּם אֵלְכָה־לִּי עַתָּה אֶל־הַגּוֹיִם׃ ו Acts Act 18:6 Da sie aber widerstrebten und lästerten, schüttelte er die Kleider aus und sprach: Euer Blut sei über euer Haupt! Rein gehe ich von nun an zu den Heiden.(dhs) Act 18:6 But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments and said to them, "Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:7 Et migrans inde, intravit in domum cujusdam, nomine Titi Justi, colentis Deum, cujus domus erat conjuncta synagogæ.(vulgate) וַיֵּלֵךְ מִשָּׁם וַיָּבֹא בֵּיתָה אִישׁ אֶחָד טִיטוֹס יוּסְטוֹס הָיָה שְׁמוֹ הוּא הָיָה יְרֵא אֱלֹהִים וּבֵיתוֹ אֵצֶל בֵּית־הַכְּנֵסֶת׃ ז Acts Act 18:7 Und machte sich von dannen und kam in ein Haus eines mit Namen Just, der gottesfürchtig war; dessen Haus war zunächst an der Schule.(dhs) Act 18:7 And he departed from there and entered the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:8 ============ Act 18:8 Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his household, and many of the Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.(nas) Act 18:8 κρίσπος δὲ ὁ ἀρχισυνάγωγος ἐπίστευσεν τῶ κυρίῳ σὺν ὅλῳ τῶ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ, καὶ πολλοὶ τῶν κορινθίων ἀκούοντες ἐπίστευον καὶ ἐβαπτίζοντο. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:8 Crispus autem archisynagogus credidit Domino cum omni domo sua: et multi Corinthiorum audientes credebant, et baptizabantur.(vulgate) וּקרִיסְפּוֹס רֹאשׁ בֵּית־הַכְּנֵסֶת הֶאֱמִין בָּאָדוֹן הוּא וְכָל־בֵּיתוֹ עִמּוֹ וְעוֹד קוֹרִנְתִּים רַבִּים כַּאֲשֶׁר שָׁמְעוּ כֵּן הֶאֱמִינוּ וַיִּטָּבֵלוּ׃ ח Acts Act 18:8 Krispus aber, der Oberste der Schule, glaubte an den HERRN mit seinem ganzen Hause; und viele Korinther, die zuhörten, wurden gläubig und ließen sich taufen.(dhs) Act 18:8 Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:9 ============ Act 18:9 And the Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent;(nas) Act 18:9 εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος ἐν νυκτὶ δι᾽ ὁράματος τῶ παύλῳ, μὴ φοβοῦ, ἀλλὰ λάλει καὶ μὴ σιωπήσῃς, (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:9 Dixit autem Dominus nocte per visionem Paulo: Noli timere, sed loquere, et ne taceas:(vulgate) וּדְבַר הָאָדוֹן הָיָה אֶל־פּוֹלוֹס בֶּחָזוֹן לָיְלָה אַל־תִּירָא כִּי אִם־תְּדַבֵּר וְלֹא תֶחֱרָשׁ׃ ט Acts Act 18:9 Es sprach aber der HERR durch ein Gesicht in der Nacht zu Paulus: Fürchte dich nicht, sondern rede, und schweige nicht!(dhs) Act 18:9 Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent;(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:10 ============ Act 18:10 for I am with you, and no man will attack you in order to harm you, for I have many people in this city."(nas) Act 18:10 διότι ἐγώ εἰμι μετὰ σοῦ καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐπιθήσεταί σοι τοῦ κακῶσαί σε, διότι λαός ἐστί μοι πολὺς ἐν τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:10 propter quod ego sum tecum, et nemo apponetur tibi ut noceat te: quoniam populus est mihi multus in hac civitate.(vulgate) כִּי־עִמְּךָ אָנֹכִי וְאִישׁ לֹא יִגַּע בְּךָ לְרָעָה כִּי עַם־רָב לִי בָּעִיר הַזֹּאת׃ י Acts Act 18:10 denn ich bin mit dir, und niemand soll sich unterstehen, dir zu schaden; denn ich habe ein großes Volk in dieser Stadt.(dhs) Act 18:10 for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city."(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:11 ============ Act 18:11 And he settled there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.(nas) Act 18:11 ἐκάθισεν δὲ ἐνιαυτὸν καὶ μῆνας ἓξ διδάσκων ἐν αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:11 Sedit autem ibi annum et sex menses, docens apud eos verbum Dei.~(vulgate) וַיֵּשֵׁב שָׁם שָׁנָה וְשִׁשָּׁה חֳדָשִׁים וַיְלַמֵּד אֹתָם אֶת־דְּבַר הָאֱלֹהִים׃ יא Acts Act 18:11 Er saß aber daselbst ein Jahr und sechs Monate und lehrte das Wort Gottes.(dhs) Act 18:11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:12 ============ Act 18:12 But while Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,(nas) Act 18:12 γαλλίωνος δὲ ἀνθυπάτου ὄντος τῆς ἀχαΐας κατεπέστησαν ὁμοθυμαδὸν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι τῶ παύλῳ καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ βῆμα, (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:12 Gallione autem proconsule Achaiæ, insurrexerunt uno animo Judæi in Paulum, et adduxerunt eum ad tribunal,(vulgate) וַיְהִי אָז גַּלִּיּוֹן נְצִיב מְדִינַת אֲכַיָּא וְהַיְּהוּדִים כֻּלָּם יַחַד קָמוּ עַל־פּוֹלוֹס וַיַּעֲמִידוּהוּ לִפְנֵי כִסֵּא הַמִּשְׁפָּט׃ יב Acts Act 18:12 Da aber Gallion Landvogt war in Achaja, empörten sich die Juden einmütig wider Paulus und führten ihn vor den Richtstuhl(dhs) Act 18:12 When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him to the judgment seat,(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:13 ============ Act 18:13 saying, "This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law."(nas) Act 18:13 λέγοντες ὅτι παρὰ τὸν νόμον ἀναπείθει οὖτος τοὺς ἀνθρώπους σέβεσθαι τὸν θεόν. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:13 dicentes: Quia contra legem hic persuadet hominibus colere Deum.(vulgate) וַיֹּאמְרוּ הָאִישׁ הַזֶּה מְפַתֶּה אֶת־הָעָם לַעֲבֹד אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים בַּעֲבֹדָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא כַתּוֹרָה׃ יג Acts Act 18:13 und sprachen: Dieser überredet die Leute, Gott zu dienen dem Gesetz zuwider.(dhs) Act 18:13 saying, "This fellow persuades men to worship God contrary to the law."(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:14 ============ Act 18:14 But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrong or of vicious crime, O Jews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;(nas) Act 18:14 μέλλοντος δὲ τοῦ παύλου ἀνοίγειν τὸ στόμα εἶπεν ὁ γαλλίων πρὸς τοὺς ἰουδαίους, εἰ μὲν ἦν ἀδίκημά τι ἢ ῥᾳδιούργημα πονηρόν, ὦ ἰουδαῖοι, κατὰ λόγον ἂν ἀνεσχόμην ὑμῶν· (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:14 Incipiente autem Paulo aperire os, dixit Gallio ad Judæos: Si quidem esset iniquum aliquid aut facinus pessimum, o viri Judæi, recte vos sustinerem.(vulgate) וְאוּלָם אַךְ־הוֹאִיל פּוֹלוֹס לִפְתֹּחַ שְׂפָתָיו וְגַלִּיּוֹן הִקְדִּימוֹ וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־הַיְּהוּדִים לוּ אִם־הָיָה דִין רֶשַׁע אוֹ דְּבַר בְּלִיַּעַל כִּי־אָז נָשָׂאתִי אֶת־פְּנֵיכֶם אַתֶּם הַיְּהוּדִים כַּמִּשְׁפָּט׃ יד Acts Act 18:14 Da aber Paulus wollte den Mund auftun, sprach Gallion zu den Juden: Wenn es ein Frevel oder eine Schalkheit wäre, liebe Juden, so höre ich euch billig;(dhs) Act 18:14 And when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongdoing or wicked crimes, O Jews, there would be reason why I should bear with you.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:15 ============ Act 18:15 but if there are questions about words and names and your own law, look after it yourselves; I am unwilling to be a judge of these matters."(nas) Act 18:15 εἰ δὲ ζητήματά ἐστιν περὶ λόγου καὶ ὀνομάτων καὶ νόμου τοῦ καθ᾽ ὑμᾶς, ὄψεσθε αὐτοί· κριτὴς ἐγὼ τούτων οὐ βούλομαι εἶναι. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:15 Si vero quæstiones sunt de verbo, et nominibus, et lege vestra, vos ipsi videritis: judex ego horum nolo esse.(vulgate) אֶפֶס כִּי־רַק בְּתוֹכָחוֹת עַל־מִלִּין עַל־שִׂים שֵׁמוֹת וְעַל־תּוֹרַתְכֶם אַתֶּם נְדוֹנִים הָבוּ לָכֶם עֵצָה אַתֶּם לְבַדְּכֶם לָדַעַת מָה הַטּוֹב וַאֲנִי אֵין נַפְשִׁי לִהְיוֹת שֹׁפֵט עַל־הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה׃ טו Acts Act 18:15 weil es aber eine Frage ist von der Lehre und von den Worten und von dem Gesetz unter euch, so seht ihr selber zu; ich denke darüber nicht Richter zu sein.(dhs) Act 18:15 But if it is a question of words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves; for I do not want to be a judge of such matters."(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:16 ============ Act 18:16 And he drove them away from the judgment seat.(nas) Act 18:16 καὶ ἀπήλασεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ βήματος. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:16 Et minavit eos a tribunali.(vulgate) וַיְגָרֶשׁ אֹתָם מִלִּפְנֵי כִסֵּא הַמִּשְׁפָּט׃ טז Acts Act 18:16 Und trieb sie von dem Richtstuhl.(dhs) Act 18:16 And he drove them from the judgment seat.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:17 ============ Act 18:17 And they all took hold of Sosthenes, the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of the judgment seat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of these things.(nas) Act 18:17 ἐπιλαβόμενοι δὲ πάντες σωσθένην τὸν ἀρχισυνάγωγον ἔτυπτον ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ βήματος· καὶ οὐδὲν τούτων τῶ γαλλίωνι ἔμελεν. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:17 Apprehendentes autem omnes Sosthenem principem synagogæ, percutiebant eum ante tribunal: et nihil eorum Gallioni curæ erat.~(vulgate) וַיִּתְפְּשׂוּ כֻלָּם אֶת־סוֹסְתְּנִיס רֹאשׁ בֵּית הַכְּנֵסֶת וַיַּכֻּהוּ לִפְנֵי־כִסֵּא הַמִּשְׁפָּט וְגַלִּיוֹן רֹאֶה וַיְהִי כְּלֹא רֹאֶה׃ יז Acts Act 18:17 Da ergriffen alle Griechen Sosthenes, den Obersten der Schule, und schlugen ihn vor dem Richtstuhl; und Gallion nahm sich's nicht an.(dhs) Act 18:17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. But Gallio took no notice of these things.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:18 ============ Act 18:18 Paul, having remained many days longer, took leave of the brethren and put out to sea for Syria, and with him were Priscilla and Aquila. In Cenchrea he had his hair cut, for he was keeping a vow.(nas) Act 18:18 ὁ δὲ παῦλος ἔτι προσμείνας ἡμέρας ἱκανὰς τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς ἀποταξάμενος ἐξέπλει εἰς τὴν συρίαν, καὶ σὺν αὐτῶ πρίσκιλλα καὶ ἀκύλας, κειράμενος ἐν κεγχρεαῖς τὴν κεφαλήν, εἶχεν γὰρ εὐχήν. (Nestle-Aland) Act 18:18 Paulus vero cum adhuc sustinuisset dies multos fratribus valefaciens, navigavit in Syriam (et cum eo Priscilla et Aquila), qui sibi totonderat in Cenchris caput: habebat enim votum.(vulgate) וַיִּתְמַהְמַהּ שָׁם פּוֹלוֹס עוֹד יָמִים רַבִּים אַחַר כֵּן נִפְרַד מֵעִם הָאַחִים וַיֵּשֵׁב בָּאֳנִיָּה לָלֶכֶת אֶל־סוּרְיָא וְהוּא לָקַח עִמּוֹ אֶת־פְּרִיסְקְלָה וְאֶת־עֲקִילַס וַיְגַלַּח אֶת־רֹאשׁוֹ בְּקַנְכְּרַי כִּמְלֹאת יְמֵי נִדְרוֹ אֲשֶׁר נָדָר׃ יח Acts Act 18:18 Paulus aber blieb noch lange daselbst; darnach machte er einen Abschied mit den Brüdern und wollte nach Syrien schiffen und mit ihm Priscilla und Aquila. Und er schor sein Haupt zu Kenchreä, denn er hatte ein Gelübde.(dhs) Act 18:18 So Paul still remained a good while. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow.(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:19 ============ Act 18:19 They came to Ephesus, and he left them there. Now he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.(nas) Act 18:19 κατήντησαν δὲ εἰς ἔφεσον, κἀκείνους κατέλιπεν αὐτοῦ, αὐτὸς δὲ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν διελέξατο τοῖς ἰουδαίοις. Und als er dahingekommen war, half er denen, die gläubig waren geworden durch die Gnade.(dhs) Act 18:27 And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;(nkjv) ======= Acts 18:28 ============ Act 18:28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.(nas) Act 18:28 εὐτόνως γὰρ τοῖς ἰουδαίοις διακατηλέγχετο δημοσίᾳ ἐπιδεικνὺς διὰ τῶν γραφῶν εἶναι τὸν χριστὸν, ἰησοῦν.
