Today's Date: ======= Acts 24:1 ============ Act 24:1 After five days the high priest Ananias came down with some elders, with an attorney named Tertullus, and they brought charges to the governor against Paul.(nas) Act 24:1 μετὰ δὲ πέντε ἡμέρας κατέβη ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς ἁνανίας μετὰ πρεσβυτέρων τινῶν καὶ ῥήτορος τερτύλλου τινός, οἵτινες ἐνεφάνισαν τῶ ἡγεμόνι κατὰ τοῦ παύλου. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:1 Post quinque autem dies descendit princeps sacerdotum Ananias, cum senioribus quibusdam, et Tertullo quodam oratore, qui adierunt præsidem adversus Paulum.(vulgate) וַיְהִי אַחֲרֵי חֲמִישָּׁה יָמִים וַיֵּרֶד חֲנַנְיָה הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וְהַזְּקֵנִים וְאִישׁ אֶחָד יֹדֵעַ דַּבֵּר טַרְטֻלּוֹס שְׁמוֹ וַיִּלֹּנוּ עַל־פּוֹלוֹס לִפְנֵי הַפֵּחָה׃ א Acts Act 24:1 Über fünf Tage zog hinab der Hohepriester Ananias mit den Ältesten und mit dem Redner Tertullus; die erschienen vor dem Landpfleger wider Paulus.(dhs) Act 24:1 Now after five days Ananias the high priest came down with the elders and a certain orator named Tertullus. These gave evidence to the governor against Paul.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:2 ============ Act 24:2 After Paul had been summoned, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying to the governor, "Since we have through you attained much peace, and since by your providence reforms are being carried out for this nation,(nas) Act 24:2 κληθέντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἤρξατο κατηγορεῖν ὁ τέρτυλλος λέγων, πολλῆς εἰρήνης τυγχάνοντες διὰ σοῦ καὶ διορθωμάτων γινομένων τῶ ἔθνει τούτῳ διὰ τῆς σῆς προνοίας, (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:2 Et citato Paulo cœpit accusare Tertullus, dicens: Cum in multa pace agamus per te, et multa corrigantur per tuam providentiam,(vulgate) הוּא נִקְרָא וְטַרְטֻלּוֹס הֵחֵל לִשִׂטְנוֹ וַיֹּאמַר אֲשֶׁר עַל־יָדְךָ הַשְׁקֵט וּבִטְחָה לָנוּ וַתָּבֹאנָה טוֹבוֹת הַרְבֵּה לָעָם הַזֶּה יַעַן הִשְׂכַּלְתָּ לַעֲשׂוֹת עִמָּנוּ בְּשׁוּם שֶׂכֶל׃ ב Acts Act 24:2 Da er aber berufen ward, fing an Tertullus zu verklagen und sprach:(dhs) Act 24:2 And when he was called upon, Tertullus began his accusation, saying: "Seeing that through you we enjoy great peace, and prosperity is being brought to this nation by your foresight,(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:3 ============ Act 24:3 we acknowledge this in every way and everywhere, most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness.(nas) Act 24:3 πάντῃ τε καὶ πανταχοῦ ἀποδεχόμεθα, κράτιστε φῆλιξ, μετὰ πάσης εὐχαριστίας. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:3 semper et ubique suscipimus, optime Felix, cum omni gratiarum actione.(vulgate) עַל־זֶה אֲנַחְנוּ מוֹדִים לְךָ פִּילִיכַס הַנִּכְבָּד וּמְבָרְכִים אֹתְךָ בְּכָל־יוֹם וּבְכָל־מָקוֹם׃ ג Acts Act 24:3 Daß wir im großen Frieden leben unter dir und viel Wohltaten diesem Volk widerfahren durch dein Fürsichtigkeit, allerteuerster Felix, das nehmen wir an allewege und allenthalben mit aller Dankbarkeit.(dhs) Act 24:3 we accept it always and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:4 ============ Act 24:4 "But, that I may not weary you any further, I beg you to grant us, by your kindness, a brief hearing.(nas) Act 24:4 ἵνα δὲ μὴ ἐπὶ πλεῖόν σε ἐγκόπτω, παρακαλῶ ἀκοῦσαί σε ἡμῶν συντόμως τῇ σῇ ἐπιεικείᾳ. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:4 Ne diutius autem te protraham, oro, breviter audias nos pro tua clementia.(vulgate) וְאוּלָם לְמַעַן חֲדֹל מֵהוֹגִיעֲךָ הַרְבֵּה עַל־כֵּן אֲשַׁחְרְךָ בְּקֹצֶר מִלִּים כִּי תִשְׁמָעֵנוּ בְּרֹב חַסְדֶּךָ׃ ד Acts Act 24:4 Auf daß ich aber dich nicht zu lange aufhalte, bitte ich dich, du wolltest uns kürzlich hören nach deiner Gelindigkeit.(dhs) Act 24:4 Nevertheless, not to be tedious to you any further, I beg you to hear, by your courtesy, a few words from us.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:5 ============ Act 24:5 "For we have found this man a real pest and a fellow who stirs up dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.(nas) Act 24:5 εὑρόντες γὰρ τὸν ἄνδρα τοῦτον λοιμὸν καὶ κινοῦντα στάσεις πᾶσιν τοῖς ἰουδαίοις τοῖς κατὰ τὴν οἰκουμένην πρωτοστάτην τε τῆς τῶν ναζωραίων αἱρέσεως, (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:5 Invenimus hunc hominem pestiferum, et concitantem seditiones omnibus Judæis in universo orbe, et auctorem seditionis sectæ Nazarenorum:(vulgate) אֲנַחְנוּ מָצָאנוּ אֶת־הָאִישׁ הַזֶּה כַּדֶּבֶר יַהֲלֹךְ מְשַׁלַּח מְדָנִים בֵּין כָּל־הַיְּהוּדִים בְּכָל־הָאָרֶץ וְהוּא מַנְהִיג לְמִפְלֶגֶת הַנָּצְרִים׃ ה Acts Act 24:5 Wir haben diesen Mann gefunden schädlich, und der Aufruhr erregt allen Juden auf dem ganzen Erdboden, und einen vornehmsten der Sekte der Nazarener,(dhs) Act 24:5 For we have found this man a plague, a creator of dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:6 ============ Act 24:6 "And he even tried to desecrate the temple; and then we arrested him. [We wanted to judge him according to our own Law.(nas) Act 24:6 ὃς καὶ τὸ ἱερὸν ἐπείρασεν βεβηλῶσαι, ὃν καὶ ἐκρατήσαμεν, (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:6 qui etiam templum violare conatus est, quem et apprehensum voluimus secundum legem nostram judicare.(vulgate) וְגַם־הוּא חָמַס מְזִמָּה לְחַלֵּל אֶת־הַמִּקְדָּשׁ וַאֲנַחְנוּ תְּפַשְׂנֻהוּ וַנֹּאמֶר לַעֲשׂוֹת בּוֹ מִשְׁפָּט כָּתוּב בְּתוֹרָתֵנוּ׃ ו Acts Act 24:6 der auch versucht hat, den Tempel zu entweihen; welchen wir auch griffen und wollten ihn gerichtet haben nach unserem Gesetz.(dhs) Act 24:6 He even tried to profane the temple, and we seized him, and wanted to judge him according to our law.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:7 ============ Act 24:7 "But Lysias the commander came along, and with much violence took him out of our hands,(nas) Act 24:7 (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:7 Superveniens autem tribunus Lysias, cum vi magna eripuit eum de manibus nostris,(vulgate) וַיָּבֹא לוּסִיאַס שַׂר־הָאֶלֶף בְּיָד־חֲזָקָה וַיִּגְזְלֵהוּ מִיָּדֵנוּ וְאֶת־שִׂטְנָיו צִוָּה לָבֹא עָדֶיךָ׃ ז Acts Act 24:7 Aber Lysias, der Hauptmann, kam dazu und führte ihn mit großer Gewalt aus unseren Händen(dhs) Act 24:7 But the commander Lysias came by and with great violence took him out of our hands,(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:8 ============ Act 24:8 ordering his accusers to come before you.] By examining him yourself concerning all these matters you will be able to ascertain the things of which we accuse him."(nas) Act 24:8 παρ᾽ οὖ δυνήσῃ αὐτὸς ἀνακρίνας περὶ πάντων τούτων ἐπιγνῶναι ὧν ἡμεῖς κατηγοροῦμεν αὐτοῦ. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:8 jubens accusatores ejus ad te venire: a quo poteris ipse judicans, de omnibus istis cognoscere, de quibus nos accusamus eum.(vulgate) וְהִנֵּה פִּיו יַעֲנֶה בּוֹ אִם־תַּחְקְרֵהוּ וְאַתָּה תִבְחַן וְיָדַעְתָּ אֶת־הַתְּלוּנָּה אֲשֶׁר אֲנַחְנוּ מַלִּינִים עָלָיו׃ ח Acts Act 24:8 und hieß seine Verkläger zu dir kommen; von welchem du kannst, so du es erforschen willst, das alles erkunden, um was wir ihn verklagen.(dhs) Act 24:8 commanding his accusers to come to you. By examining him yourself you may ascertain all these things of which we accuse him."(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:9 ============ Act 24:9 The Jews also joined in the attack, asserting that these things were so.(nas) Act 24:9 συνεπέθεντο δὲ καὶ οἱ ἰουδαῖοι φάσκοντες ταῦτα οὕτως ἔχειν. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:9 Adjecerunt autem et Judæi, dicentes hæc ita se habere.(vulgate) וְהַיְּהוּדִים הֵעִידוּ וַיֹּאמְרוּ כֵּנִים הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה׃ ט Acts Act 24:9 Die Juden aber redeten auch dazu und sprachen, es verhielte sich also.(dhs) Act 24:9 And the Jews also assented, maintaining that these things were so.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:10 ============ Act 24:10 When the governor had nodded for him to speak, Paul responded: "Knowing that for many years you have been a judge to this nation, I cheerfully make my defense,(nas) Act 24:10 ἀπεκρίθη τε ὁ παῦλος νεύσαντος αὐτῶ τοῦ ἡγεμόνος λέγειν, ἐκ πολλῶν ἐτῶν ὄντα σε κριτὴν τῶ ἔθνει τούτῳ ἐπιστάμενος εὐθύμως τὰ περὶ ἐμαυτοῦ ἀπολογοῦμαι, (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:10 Respondit autem Paulus (annuente sibi præside dicere): Ex multis annis te esse judicem genti huic sciens, bono animo pro me satisfaciam.(vulgate) וּפוֹלוֹס עָנָה בְּתֵת לוֹ הַפֶּחָה אוֹת לַעֲנוֹת מִדַּעְתִּי כִי שֹׁפֵט אַתָּה לָעָם הַזֶּה זֶה שָׁנִים רַבּוֹת עַל־כֵּן אֶעֱנֶה צִדְקִי בִי בְּלֵב נָכוֹן וּבָטוּחַ׃ י Acts Act 24:10 Paulus aber, da ihm der Landpfleger winkte zu reden, antwortete: Dieweil ich weiß, daß du in diesem Volk nun viele Jahre ein Richter bist, will ich unerschrocken mich verantworten;(dhs) Act 24:10 Then Paul, after the governor had nodded to him to speak, answered: "Inasmuch as I know that you have been for many years a judge of this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself,(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:11 ============ Act 24:11 since you can take note of the fact that no more than twelve days ago I went up to Jerusalem to worship.(nas) Act 24:11 δυναμένου σου ἐπιγνῶναι ὅτι οὐ πλείους εἰσίν μοι ἡμέραι δώδεκα ἀφ᾽ ἧς ἀνέβην προσκυνήσων εἰς ἰερουσαλήμ, (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:11 Potes enim cognoscere quia non plus sunt mihi dies quam duodecim, ex quo ascendi adorare in Jerusalem:(vulgate) הַנָּקֵל לְךָ לָדַעַת כִּי עוֹד לֹא חָלְפוּ יוֹתֵר מִשְּׁנֵים עָשָׂר יוֹם מִיּוֹם עֲלֹתִי לִירוּשָׁלַיִם לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת׃ יא Acts Act 24:11 denn du kannst erkennen, daß es nicht mehr als zwölf Tage sind, daß ich bin hinauf gen Jerusalem gekommen, anzubeten.(dhs) Act 24:11 because you may ascertain that it is no more than twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:12 ============ Act 24:12 "Neither in the temple, nor in the synagogues, nor in the city itself did they find me carrying on a discussion with anyone or causing a riot.(nas) Act 24:12 καὶ οὔτε ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ εὖρόν με πρός τινα διαλεγόμενον ἢ ἐπίστασιν ποιοῦντα ὄχλου οὔτε ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς οὔτε κατὰ τὴν πόλιν, (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:12 et neque in templo invenerunt me cum aliquo disputantem, aut concursum facientem turbæ, neque in synagogis, neque in civitate:(vulgate) וְהֵם לֹא מְצָאֻנִי מֵשִׂיחַ עִם־אִישׁ בַּמִּקְדָּשׁ אוֹ־מְסַבֵּב דָּבָר לְהִזָּעֵק הָעָם אַף לֹא־בְּבָתֵּי־הַכְּנֵסֶת אוֹ בָּעִיר׃ יב Acts Act 24:12 Auch haben sie mich nicht gefunden im Tempel mit jemanden reden oder einen Aufruhr machen im Volk noch in den Schulen noch in der Stadt.(dhs) Act 24:12 And they neither found me in the temple disputing with anyone nor inciting the crowd, either in the synagogues or in the city.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:13 ============ Act 24:13 "Nor can they prove to you the charges of which they now accuse me.(nas) Act 24:13 οὐδὲ παραστῆσαι δύνανταί σοι περὶ ὧν νυνὶ κατηγοροῦσίν μου. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:13 neque probare possunt tibi de quibus nunc me accusant.(vulgate) וְכֵן גַּם־לֹא יוּכְלוּ לְהוֹכַח לְפָנֶיךָ כִּי אֱמֶת הַתְּלוּנָּה אֲשֶׁר הֵם מַלִּינִים עָלָי׃ יג Acts Act 24:13 Sie können mir auch der keines beweisen, dessen sie mich verklagen.(dhs) Act 24:13 Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:14 ============ Act 24:14 "But this I admit to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect I do serve the God of our fathers, believing everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets;(nas) Act 24:14 ὁμολογῶ δὲ τοῦτό σοι ὅτι κατὰ τὴν ὁδὸν ἣν λέγουσιν αἵρεσιν οὕτως λατρεύω τῶ πατρῴῳ θεῶ, πιστεύων πᾶσι τοῖς κατὰ τὸν νόμον καὶ τοῖς ἐν τοῖς προφήταις γεγραμμένοις, (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:14 Confiteor autem hoc tibi, quod secundum sectam quam dicunt hæresim, sic deservio Patri et Deo meo, credens omnibus quæ in lege et prophetis scripta sunt:(vulgate) אוּלָם אֶת־זֹאת אֲנִי מוֹדֶה לְפָנֶיךָ כִּי אֲנִי בַּדֶּרֶךְ הַהִיא אֲשֶׁר יִקְּבוּהָ מִפְלַגָּה בָּהּ אֲנִי עֹבֵד אֶת־אֱלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ וְכִי אֲנִי מַאֲמִין בְּכָל־הַכָּתוּב בַּתּוֹרָה וּבַנְּבִיאִים׃ יד Acts Act 24:14 Das bekenne ich aber dir, daß ich nach diesem Wege, den sie eine Sekte heißen, diene also dem Gott meiner Väter, daß ich glaube allem, was geschrieben steht im Gesetz und in den Propheten,(dhs) Act 24:14 But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:15 ============ Act 24:15 having a hope in God, which these men cherish themselves, that there shall certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.(nas) Act 24:15 ἐλπίδα ἔχων εἰς τὸν θεόν, ἣν καὶ αὐτοὶ οὖτοι προσδέχονται, ἀνάστασιν μέλλειν ἔσεσθαι δικαίων τε καὶ ἀδίκων. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:15 spem habens in Deum, quam et hi ipsi exspectant, resurrectionem futuram justorum et iniquorum.(vulgate) וְזֹאת תִּקְוָתִי בִי לֵאלֹהִים אֲשֶׁר גַּם־הֵם מַחֲזִיקִים בָּהּ כִּי כָּל־מֵתֵי עוֹלָם יְקוּמוּן לִתְחִיַת הַמֵּתִים לַצַּדִּיקִים וְלָרְשָׁעִים יַחְדָּו׃ טו Acts Act 24:15 und habe die Hoffnung zu Gott, auf welche auch sie selbst warten, nämlich, daß zukünftig sei die Auferstehung der Toten, der Gerechten und der Ungerechten.(dhs) Act 24:15 I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:16 ============ Act 24:16 "In view of this, I also do my best to maintain always a blameless conscience both before God and before men.(nas) Act 24:16 ἐν τούτῳ καὶ αὐτὸς ἀσκῶ ἀπρόσκοπον συνείδησιν ἔχειν πρὸς τὸν θεὸν καὶ τοὺς ἀνθρώπους διὰ παντός. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:16 In hoc et ipse studeo sine offendiculo conscientiam habere ad Deum et ad homines semper.(vulgate) וְאֶל־זֶה הָיִיתִי עָמֵל תָּמִיד לִהְיוֹתִי בַר־לֵבָב לִפְנֵי אֱלֹהִים וְאָדָם׃ טז Acts Act 24:16 Dabei aber übe ich mich, zu haben ein unverletzt Gewissen allenthalben, gegen Gott und die Menschen.(dhs) Act 24:16 This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:17 ============ Act 24:17 "Now after several years I came to bring alms to my nation and to present offerings;(nas) Act 24:17 δι᾽ ἐτῶν δὲ πλειόνων ἐλεημοσύνας ποιήσων εἰς τὸ ἔθνος μου παρεγενόμην καὶ προσφοράς, (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:17 Post annos autem plures eleemosynas facturus in gentem meam, veni, et oblationes, et vota,(vulgate) וְאַחֲרֵי שָׁנִים רַבּוֹת בָּאתִי יְרוּשָׁלַיְמָה בִּנְדָבוֹת לַעֲנִיֵּי עַמִּי וּלְהַקְרִיב קָרְבָּן׃ יז Acts Act 24:17 Aber nach vielen Jahren bin ich gekommen und habe ein Almosen gebracht meinem Volk, und Opfer.(dhs) Act 24:17 Now after many years I came to bring alms and offerings to my nation,(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:18 ============ Act 24:18 in which they found me occupied in the temple, having been purified, without any crowd or uproar. But there were some Jews from Asia--(nas) Act 24:18 ἐν αἷς εὖρόν με ἡγνισμένον ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ, οὐ μετὰ ὄχλου οὐδὲ μετὰ θορύβου· (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:18 in quibus invenerunt me purificatum in templo: non cum turba, neque cum tumultu.(vulgate) וְכֹה אַחֲרֵי הִתְקַדִּשְׁתִּי מְצָאֻנִי בַמִּקְדָּשׁ וְלֹא בְמַקְהֲלוֹת עָם וְלֹא בִתְשֻׁאוֹת הָמוֹן רָב׃ יח Acts Act 24:18 Darüber fanden sie mich, daß ich mich geheiligt hatte im Tempel, ohne allen Lärm und Getümmel.(dhs) Act 24:18 in the midst of which some Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with a mob nor with tumult.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:19 ============ Act 24:19 who ought to have been present before you and to make accusation, if they should have anything against me.(nas) Act 24:19 τινὲς δὲ ἀπὸ τῆς ἀσίας ἰουδαῖοι, οὓς ἔδει ἐπὶ σοῦ παρεῖναι καὶ κατηγορεῖν εἴ τι ἔχοιεν πρὸς ἐμέ _ (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:19 Quidam autem ex Asia Judæi, quos oportebat apud te præsto esse, et accusare si quid haberent adversum me:(vulgate) וִיהוּדִים אֲחָדִים מֵאַסְיָא הֵם אֲשֶׁר עֲלֵיהֶם הָיָה לִקְרֹא אֵלֶיךָ עָלַי אִם כָּל־דְּבַר פֶּשַׁע בִּי מָצָאוּ׃ יט Acts Act 24:19 Das waren aber etliche Juden aus Asien, welche sollten hier sein vor dir und mich verklagen, so sie etwas wider mich hätten.(dhs) Act 24:19 They ought to have been here before you to object if they had anything against me.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:20 ============ Act 24:20 "Or else let these men themselves tell what misdeed they found when I stood before the Council,(nas) Act 24:20 ἢ αὐτοὶ οὖτοι εἰπάτωσαν τί εὖρον ἀδίκημα στάντος μου ἐπὶ τοῦ συνεδρίου (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:20 aut hi ipsi dicant si quid invenerunt in me iniquitatis cum stem in concilio,(vulgate) וְאוּלָם הַגֵּד יַגִּידוּ כֹה הָאֲנָשִׁים הָאֵלֶּה מָה־עָוֶל נִמְצָא בִי בְּעָמְדִי לִפְנֵי הַסַּנְהֶדְרִין׃ כ Acts Act 24:20 Oder laß diese selbst sagen, ob sie etwas Unrechtes an mir gefunden haben, dieweil ich stand vor dem Rat,(dhs) Act 24:20 Or else let those who are here themselves say if they found any wrongdoing in me while I stood before the council,(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:21 ============ Act 24:21 other than for this one statement which I shouted out while standing among them, 'For the resurrection of the dead I am on trial before you today.'"(nas) Act 24:21 ἢ περὶ μιᾶς ταύτης φωνῆς ἧς ἐκέκραξα ἐν αὐτοῖς ἑστὼς ὅτι περὶ ἀναστάσεως νεκρῶν ἐγὼ κρίνομαι σήμερον ἐφ᾽ ὑμῶν. "(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:22 ============ Act 24:22 But Felix, having a more exact knowledge about the Way, put them off, saying, "When Lysias the commander comes down, I will decide your case."(nas) Act 24:22 ἀνεβάλετο δὲ αὐτοὺς ὁ φῆλιξ, ἀκριβέστερον εἰδὼς τὰ περὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ, εἴπας, ὅταν λυσίας ὁ χιλίαρχος καταβῇ διαγνώσομαι τὰ καθ᾽ ὑμᾶς, (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:22 Distulit autem illos Felix, certissime sciens de via hac, dicens: Cum tribunus Lysias descenderit, audiam vos.(vulgate) וְיַעַן אֲשֶׁר יָדַע הֵיטֵב פִּילִיכַס אֶת־הַדָּבָר וַיּוֹעִדֵם לְיוֹם מוֹעֵד אַחֵר וַיֹּאמַר בְּבֹא אֵלַי לוּסִיאַס שַׂר־הָאֶלֶף וְהוֹצֵאתִי אֶת־מִשְׁפַּטְכֶם לָאוֹר׃ כב Acts Act 24:22 Da aber Felix solches hörte, zog er sie hin; denn er wußte gar wohl um diesen Weg und sprach: Wenn Lysias, der Hauptmann, herabkommt, so will ich eure Sache erkunden.(dhs) Act 24:22 But when Felix heard these things, having more accurate knowledge of the Way, he adjourned the proceedings and said, "When Lysias the commander comes down, I will make a decision on your case."(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:23 ============ Act 24:23 Then he gave orders to the centurion for him to be kept in custody and yet have some freedom, and not to prevent any of his friends from ministering to him.(nas) Act 24:23 διαταξάμενος τῶ ἑκατοντάρχῃ τηρεῖσθαι αὐτὸν ἔχειν τε ἄνεσιν καὶ μηδένα κωλύειν τῶν ἰδίων αὐτοῦ ὑπηρετεῖν αὐτῶ. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:23 Jussitque centurioni custodire eum, et habere requiem, nec quemquam de suis prohibere ministrare ei.(vulgate) וְאֶת־שַׂר הַמֵּאָה צִוָּה לָתֵת אֹתוֹ בַּמִּשְׁמָר וַהַנָחָה יַעֲשֶׂה־לּוֹ לְהָנִיחַ אֶת־מְיֻדָּעָיו לָבֹא אֵלָיו וּלְשָׁרְתוֹ׃ כג Acts Act 24:23 Er befahl aber dem Unterhauptmann, Paulus zu behalten und lassen Ruhe haben und daß er niemand von den Seinen wehrte, ihm zu dienen oder zu ihm zu kommen.(dhs) Act 24:23 So he commanded the centurion to keep Paul and to let him have liberty, and told him not to forbid any of his friends to provide for or visit him.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:24 ============ Act 24:24 But some days later Felix arrived with Drusilla, his wife who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.(nas) Act 24:24 μετὰ δὲ ἡμέρας τινὰς παραγενόμενος ὁ φῆλιξ σὺν δρουσίλλῃ τῇ ἰδίᾳ γυναικὶ οὔσῃ ἰουδαίᾳ μετεπέμψατο τὸν παῦλον καὶ ἤκουσεν αὐτοῦ περὶ τῆς εἰς χριστὸν ἰησοῦν πίστεως. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:24 Post aliquot autem dies veniens Felix cum Drusilla uxore sua, quæ erat Judæa, vocavit Paulum, et audivit ab eo fidem quæ est in Christum Jesum.(vulgate) וְאַחֲרֵי יָמִים אֲחָדִים בָּא פִילִיכַס וּדְרוּסִלָּה אִשְׁתּוֹ הַיְּהוּדִיָּה וַיְצַו לְהוֹצִיא אֵלָיו אֶת־פּוֹלוֹס וַיִּשְׁמַע אֹתוֹ עַל־דְּבַר הָאֱמוּנָה בַּמָּשִׁיחַ׃ כד Acts Act 24:24 Nach etlichen Tagen aber kam Felix mit seinem Weibe Drusilla, die eine Jüdin war, und forderte Paulus und hörte ihn von dem Glauben an Christus.(dhs) Act 24:24 And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:25 ============ Act 24:25 But as he was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, "Go away for the present, and when I find time I will summon you."(nas) Act 24:25 διαλεγομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ περὶ δικαιοσύνης καὶ ἐγκρατείας καὶ τοῦ κρίματος τοῦ μέλλοντος ἔμφοβος γενόμενος ὁ φῆλιξ ἀπεκρίθη, τὸ νῦν ἔχον πορεύου, καιρὸν δὲ μεταλαβὼν μετακαλέσομαί σε· (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:25 Disputante autem illo de justitia, et castitate, et de judicio futuro, tremefactus Felix, respondit: Quod nunc attinet, vade: tempore autem opportuno accersam te:(vulgate) וּכְדַבְּרוֹ עַל־עֲשֵׂה צֶדֶק עַל־הַצְנֵעַ לֶכֶת וְעַל־יוֹם הַדִּין הֶעָתִיד לְקֵץ הַיָּמִים וַיֶּחֱרַד פִּילִיכַס וַיַּעַן לֶךְ־נָא עַתָּה עַד־אֶמְצָא עֶת־לִי וְקָרָאתִי לָךְ׃ כה Acts Act 24:25 Da aber Paulus redete von der Gerechtigkeit und von der Keuschheit und von dem Zukünftigen Gericht, erschrak Felix und antwortete: Gehe hin auf diesmal; wenn ich gelegene Zeit habe, will ich dich herrufen lassen.(dhs) Act 24:25 Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you."(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:26 ============ Act 24:26 At the same time too, he was hoping that money would be given him by Paul; therefore he also used to send for him quite often and converse with him.(nas) Act 24:26 ἅμα καὶ ἐλπίζων ὅτι χρήματα δοθήσεται αὐτῶ ὑπὸ τοῦ παύλου· διὸ καὶ πυκνότερον αὐτὸν μεταπεμπόμενος ὡμίλει αὐτῶ. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:26 simul et sperans quod pecunia ei daretur a Paulo, propter quod et frequenter accersens eum, loquebatur cum eo.(vulgate) וּבְכָל־זֶה הוּא גַם דִּמָּה לְסַבֵּב אֲשֶׁר פּוֹלוֹס יִשְׁקֹל עַל־יָדוֹ מַשְׂאַת כֶּסֶף לְמַעַן יַתִּירֵהוּ וְעַל־כֵּן קְרָאוֹ אֵלָיו פְּעָמִים רַבּוֹת וַיְדַבֵּר עִמּוֹ׃ כו Acts Act 24:26 Er hoffte aber daneben, daß ihm von Paulus sollte Geld gegeben werden, daß er ihn losgäbe; darum er ihn auch oft fordern ließ und besprach sich mit ihm.(dhs) Act 24:26 Meanwhile he also hoped that money would be given him by Paul, that he might release him. Therefore he sent for him more often and conversed with him.(nkjv) ======= Acts 24:27 ============ Act 24:27 But after two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, and wishing to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul imprisoned.(nas) Act 24:27 διετίας δὲ πληρωθείσης ἔλαβεν διάδοχον ὁ φῆλιξ πόρκιον φῆστον· θέλων τε χάριτα καταθέσθαι τοῖς ἰουδαίοις ὁ φῆλιξ κατέλιπε τὸν παῦλον δεδεμένον. (Nestle-Aland) Act 24:27 Biennio autem expleto, accepit successorem Felix Portium Festum. Volens autem gratiam præstare Judæis Felix, reliquit Paulum vinctum.(vulgate) וַיְהִי מִקֵּץ שְׁנָתַיִם יָמִים וַיָּקָם פרקיּוֹס פֶּסְטוֹס תַּחַת פִּילִיכַס וְיַעַן אֲשֶׁר חָפֵץ פִּילִיכַס לְהָפִיק רָצוֹן מֵאֵת הַיְּהוּדִים הִנִּיחַ אֶת־פּוֹלוֹס בְּבֵית הַכֶּלֶא וַיַּעַזְבֵהוּ׃ כז Acts Act 24:27 Da aber zwei Jahre um waren, kam Porcius Festus an Felix Statt.
