Proverbs 9


Proverbs 9:1 Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars;
Proverbs 9:2 She has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; She has also set her table;
Proverbs 9:3 She has sent out her maidens, she calls From the tops of the heights of the city:
Proverbs 9:4 "Whoever is naive, let him turn in here!" To him who lacks understanding she says,
Proverbs 9:5 "Come, eat of my food And drink of the wine I have mixed.
Proverbs 9:6 "Forsake your folly and live, And proceed in the way of understanding."
Proverbs 9:7 He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself.
Proverbs 9:8 Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you, Reprove a wise man and he will love you.
Proverbs 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 9:11 For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you.
Proverbs 9:12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you alone will bear it.
Proverbs 9:13 The woman of folly is boisterous, She is naive and knows nothing.
Proverbs 9:14 She sits at the doorway of her house, On a seat by the high places of the city,
Proverbs 9:15 Calling to those who pass by, Who are making their paths straight:
Proverbs 9:16 "Whoever is naive, let him turn in here," And to him who lacks understanding she says,
Proverbs 9:17 "Stolen water is sweet; And bread eaten in secret is pleasant."
Proverbs 9:18 But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

Proverbs 9:2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. Proverbs 9:2 She has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; She has also set her table; Proverbs 9:2 ἔσφαξεν τὰ ἑαυτῆς θύματα ἐκέρασεν εἰς κρατῆρα τὸν ἑαυτῆς οἶνον καὶ ἡτοιμάσατο τὴν ἑαυτῆς τράπεζαν
Proverbs 9:3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city, Proverbs 9:3 She has sent out her maidens, she calls From the tops of the heights of the city: Proverbs 9:3 ἀπέστειλεν τοὺς ἑαυτῆς δούλους συγκαλούσα μετὰ ὑψηλοῦ κηρύγματος ἐπὶ κρατῆρα λέγουσα
Proverbs 9:4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Proverbs 9:4 "Whoever is naive, let him turn in here!" To him who lacks understanding she says, Proverbs 9:4 ὅς ἐστιν ἄφρων ἐκκλινάτω πρός με καὶ τοῖς ἐνδεέσι φρενῶν εἶπεν
Proverbs 9:5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. Proverbs 9:5 "Come, eat of my food And drink of the wine I have mixed. Proverbs 9:5 ἔλθατε φάγετε τῶν ἐμῶν ἄρτων καὶ πίετε οἶνον ὃν ἐκέρασα ὑμῖν
Proverbs 9:6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. Proverbs 9:6 "Forsake your folly and live, And proceed in the way of understanding." Proverbs 9:6 ἀπολείπετε ἀφροσύνην καὶ ζήσεσθε καὶ ζητήσατε φρόνησιν ἵνα βιώσητε καὶ κατορθώσατε ἐν γνώσει σύνεσιν
Proverbs 9:7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. Proverbs 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Proverbs 9:12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it. Proverbs 9:12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you alone will bear it. Proverbs 9:12 υἱέ ἐὰν σοφὸς γένῃ σεαυτῷ σοφὸς ἔσῃ καὶ τοῖς πλησίον ἐὰν δὲ κακὸς ἀποβῇς μόνος ἀναντλήσεις κακά ~ ὃς ἐρείδεται ἐπὶ ψεύδεσιν οὗτος ποιμανεῖ ἀνέμους ὁ δ᾽ αὐτὸς διώξεται ὄρνεα πετόμενα ~ ἀπέλιπεν γὰρ ὁδοὺς τοῦ ἑαυτοῦ ἀμπελῶνος τοὺς δὲ ἄξονας τοῦ ἰδίου γεωργίου πεπλάνηται ~ διαπορεύεται δὲ δι᾽ ἀνύδρου ἐρήμου καὶ γῆν διατεταγμένην ἐν διψώδεσιν συνάγει δὲ χερσὶν ἀκαρπίαν
Proverbs 9:13 A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing. Proverbs 9:13 The woman of folly is boisterous, She is naive and knows nothing. Proverbs 9:13 γυνὴ ἄφρων καὶ θρασεῖα ἐνδεὴς ψωμοῦ γίνεται ἣ οὐκ ἐπίσταται αἰσχύνην
Proverbs 9:14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, Proverbs 9:14 She sits at the doorway of her house, On a seat by the high places of the city, Proverbs 9:14 ἐκάθισεν ἐπὶ θύραις τοῦ ἑαυτῆς οἴκου ἐπὶ δίφρου ἐμφανῶς ἐν πλατείαις
Proverbs 9:15 To call passengers who go right on their ways: Proverbs 9:15 Calling to those who pass by, Who are making their paths straight: Proverbs 9:15 προσκαλουμένη τοὺς παριόντας καὶ κατευθύνοντας ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτῶν
Proverbs 9:16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Proverbs 9:16 "Whoever is naive, let him turn in here," And to him who lacks understanding she says, Proverbs 9:16 ὅς ἐστιν ὑμῶν ἀφρονέστατος ἐκκλινάτω πρός με ἐνδεέσι δὲ φρονήσεως παρακελεύομαι λέγουσα
Proverbs 9:17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. Proverbs 9:17 "Stolen water is sweet; And bread eaten in secret is pleasant." Proverbs 9:17 ἄρτων κρυφίων ἡδέως ἅψασθε καὶ ὕδατος κλοπῆς γλυκεροῦ
Proverbs 9:18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell. Proverbs 9:18 But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of Sheol. Proverbs 9:18 ὁ δὲ οὐκ οἶδεν ὅτι γηγενεῖς παρ᾽ αὐτῇ ὄλλυνται καὶ ἐπὶ πέτευρον ᾅδου συναντᾷ ~ ἀλλὰ ἀποπήδησον μὴ ἐγχρονίσῃς ἐν τῷ τόπῳ μηδὲ ἐπιστήσῃς τὸ σὸν ὄμμα πρὸς αὐτήν ~ οὕτως γὰρ διαβήσῃ ὕδωρ ἀλλότριον καὶ ὑπερβήσῃ ποταμὸν ἀλλότριον ~ ἀπὸ δὲ ὕδατος ἀλλοτρίου ἀπόσχου καὶ ἀπὸ πηγῆς ἀλλοτρίας μὴ πίῃς ~ ἵνα πολὺν ζήσῃς χρόνον προστεθῇ δέ σοι ἔτη ζωῆς
