Luke 22

Luk 22:1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.
Luk 22:2 The chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people.
Luk 22:3 And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, belonging to the number of the twelve.
Luk 22:4 And he went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might betray Him to them.
Luk 22:5 They were glad and agreed to give him money.
Luk 22:6 So he consented, and began seeking a good opportunity to betray Him to them apart from the crowd.
Luk 22:7 Then came the first day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.
Luk 22:8 And Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it."
Luk 22:9 They said to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare it?"
Luk 22:10 And He said to them, "When you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters.
Luk 22:11 And you shall say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?'
Luk 22:12 And he will show you a large, furnished upper room; prepare it there."
Luk 22:13 And they left and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.
Luk 22:14 When the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him.
Luk 22:15 And He said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;
Luk 22:16 for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."
Luk 22:17 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, "Take this and share it among yourselves;
Luk 22:18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes."
Luk 22:19 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
Luk 22:20 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.
Luk 22:21 But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table.
Luk 22:22 For indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!"
Luk 22:23 And they began to discuss among themselves which one of them it might be who was going to do this thing.
Luk 22:24 And there arose also a dispute among them as to which one of them was regarded to be greatest.
Luk 22:25 And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who have authority over them are called 'Benefactors.'
Luk 22:26 But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant.
Luk 22:27 For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.
Luk 22:28 "You are those who have stood by Me in My trials;
Luk 22:29 and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you
Luk 22:30 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Luk 22:31 "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat;
Luk 22:32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers."
Luk 22:33 But he said to Him, "Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!"
Luk 22:34 And He said, "I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me."
Luk 22:35 And He said to them, "When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?" They said, "No, nothing."
Luk 22:36 And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.
Luk 22:37 For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, 'AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS'; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment."
Luk 22:38 They said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough."
Luk 22:39 And He came out and proceeded as was His custom to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.
Luk 22:40 When He arrived at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."
Luk 22:41 And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and began to pray,
Luk 22:42 saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done."
Luk 22:43 Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.
Luk 22:44 And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground.
Luk 22:45 When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow,
Luk 22:46 and said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation."
Luk 22:47 While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was preceding them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him.
Luk 22:48 But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"
Luk 22:49 When those who were around Him saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?"
Luk 22:50 And one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
Luk 22:51 But Jesus answered and said, "Stop! No more of this." And He touched his ear and healed him.
Luk 22:52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders who had come against Him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against a robber?
Luk 22:53 While I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay hands on Me; but this hour and the power of darkness are yours."
Luk 22:54 Having arrested Him, they led Him away and brought Him to the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance.
Luk 22:55 After they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.
Luk 22:56 And a servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and looking intently at him, said, "This man was with Him too."
Luk 22:57 But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him."
Luk 22:58 A little later, another saw him and said, "You are one of them too!" But Peter said, "Man, I am not!"
Luk 22:59 After about an hour had passed, another man began to insist, saying, "Certainly this man also was with Him, for he is a Galilean too."
Luk 22:60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about." Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
Luk 22:61 The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, "Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times."
Luk 22:62 And he went out and wept bitterly.
Luk 22:63 Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him,
Luk 22:64 and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?"
Luk 22:65 And they were saying many other things against Him, blaspheming.
Luk 22:66 When it was day, the Council of elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to their council chamber, saying,
Luk 22:67 "If You are the Christ, tell us." But He said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe;
Luk 22:68 and if I ask a question, you will not answer.
Luk 22:69 But from now on THE SON OF MAN WILL BE SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND of the power of God."
Luk 22:70 And they all said, "Are You the Son of God, then?" And He said to them, "Yes, I am."
Luk 22:71 Then they said, "What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth."

Luk 22:48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? Luk 22:48 But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?" Luk 22:48 ἰησοῦς δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῶ, ἰούδα, φιλήματι τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδως;
Luk 22:49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? Luk 22:49 When those who were around Him saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?" Luk 22:49 ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ περὶ αὐτὸν τὸ ἐσόμενον εἶπαν, κύριε, εἰ πατάξομεν ἐν μαχαίρῃ;
Luk 22:50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. Luk 22:50 And one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
Luk 22:51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. Luk 22:51 But Jesus answered and said, "Stop! No more of this." And He touched his ear and healed him.
Luk 22:52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? Luk 22:52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders who had come against Him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against a robber? Luk 22:52 εἶπεν δὲ ἰησοῦς πρὸς τοὺς παραγενομένους ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ στρατηγοὺς τοῦ ἱεροῦ καὶ πρεσβυτέρους, ὡς ἐπὶ λῃστὴν ἐξήλθατε μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων;
Luk 22:53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. Luk 22:53 While I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay hands on Me; but this hour and the power of darkness are yours." Luk 22:53 καθ᾽ ἡμέραν ὄντος μου μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ οὐκ ἐξετείνατε τὰς χεῖρας ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ· ἀλλ᾽ αὕτη ἐστὶν ὑμῶν ἡ ὥρα καὶ ἡ ἐξουσία τοῦ σκότους.
Luk 22:54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off. Luk 22:54 Having arrested Him, they led Him away and brought Him to the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance.
Luk 22:55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them. Luk 22:55 After they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.
Luk 22:56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him. Luk 22:56 And a servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and looking intently at him, said, "This man was with Him too."
Luk 22:57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not. Luk 22:57 But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him."
Luk 22:58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not. Luk 22:58 A little later, another saw him and said, "You are one of them too!" But Peter said, "Man, I am not!"
Luk 22:59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean. Luk 22:59 After about an hour had passed, another man began to insist, saying, "Certainly this man also was with Him, for he is a Galilean too."
Luk 22:60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. Luk 22:60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about." Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
Luk 22:61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. Luk 22:61 The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, "Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times."
Luk 22:62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly. Luk 22:62 And he went out and wept bitterly.
Luk 22:63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. Luk 22:63 Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him, Luk 22:63 καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ συνέχοντες αὐτὸν ἐνέπαιζον αὐτῶ δέροντες,
Luk 22:64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? Luk 22:64 and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?" Luk 22:64 καὶ περικαλύψαντες αὐτὸν ἐπηρώτων λέγοντες, προφήτευσον, τίς ἐστιν ὁ παίσας σε;
Luk 22:65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him. Luk 22:65 And they were saying many other things against Him, blaspheming.
Luk 22:66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, Luk 22:66 When it was day, the Council of elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to their council chamber, saying, Luk 22:66 καὶ ὡς ἐγένετο ἡμέρα, συνήχθη τὸ πρεσβυτέριον τοῦ λαοῦ, ἀρχιερεῖς τε καὶ γραμματεῖς, καὶ ἀπήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ συνέδριον αὐτῶν,
Luk 22:67 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: Luk 22:67 "If You are the Christ, tell us." But He said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe; Luk 22:67 λέγοντες, εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστός, εἰπὸν ἡμῖν. εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς, ἐὰν ὑμῖν εἴπω οὐ μὴ πιστεύσητε·
Luk 22:68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. Luk 22:68 and if I ask a question, you will not answer. Luk 22:68 ἐὰν δὲ ἐρωτήσω οὐ μὴ ἀποκριθῆτε.
Luk 22:69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. Luk 22:69 But from now on THE SON OF MAN WILL BE SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND of the power of God." Luk 22:69 ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν δὲ ἔσται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καθήμενος ἐκ δεξιῶν τῆς δυνάμεως τοῦ θεοῦ.
Luk 22:70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. Luk 22:70 And they all said, "Are You the Son of God, then?" And He said to them, "Yes, I am."
Luk 22:71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth. Luk 22:71 Then they said, "What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth."
