So Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.(nas) Gen 20:2 εἶπεν δὲ Αβρααμ περὶ Σαρρας τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν ἐφοβήθη γὰρ εἰπεῖν ὅτι γυνή μού ἐστιν μήποτε ἀποκτείνωσιν αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τῆς πόλεως δι᾽ αὐτήν ἀπέστειλεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ βασιλεὺς Γεραρων καὶ ἔλαβεν τὴν Σαρραν (lxx) Gen 20:2 Dixitque de Sara uxore suo: Soror mea est. Misit ergo Abimelech rex Geraræ, et tulit eam.(vulgate) Genesis 20:2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister. And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:3 ============ Gen 20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, "Behold, you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is married."(nas) Gen 20:3 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Αβιμελεχ ἐν ὕπνῳ τὴν νύκτα καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ σὺ ἀποθνῄσκεις περὶ τῆς γυναικός ἧς ἔλαβες αὕτη δέ ἐστιν συνῳκηκυῖα ἀνδρί (lxx) Gen 20:3 Venit autem Deus ad Abimelech per somnium nocte, et ait illi: En morieris propter mulierem quam tulisti: habet enim virum.(vulgate) Genesis 20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dreame by night, and said to him, Beholde, thou art but dead, because of the woman, which thou hast taken: for she is a mans wife.(Geneva) Gen 20:3 Aber Gott kam zu Abimelech des Nachts im Traum und sprach zu ihm: Siehe da, du bist des Todes um des Weibes willen, das du genommen hast; denn sie ist eines Mannes Eheweib.(dhs) Gen 20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, "Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man's wife."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:4 ============ Gen 20:4 Now Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, "Lord, will You slay a nation, even though blameless?(nas) Gen 20:4 Αβιμελεχ δὲ οὐχ ἥψατο αὐτῆς καὶ εἶπεν κύριε ἔθνος ἀγνοοῦν καὶ δίκαιον ἀπολεῖς (lxx) Gen 20:4 Abimelech vero non tetigerat eam, et ait: Domine, num gentem ignorantem et justam interficies?(vulgate) Genesis 20:4 (Notwithstanding Abimelech had not yet come neere her) And he said, Lord, wilt thou slay euen the righteous nation?(Geneva) Gen 20:4 Abimelech aber hatte sie nicht berührt und sprach: HERR, willst du denn auch ein gerechtes Volk erwürgen?(dhs) Gen 20:4 But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, "Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also?(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:5 ============ Gen 20:5 Did he not himself say to me, 'She is my sister'? And she herself said, 'He is my brother.' In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands I have done this."(nas) Gen 20:5 οὐκ αὐτός μοι εἶπεν ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν καὶ αὐτή μοι εἶπεν ἀδελφός μού ἐστιν ἐν καθαρᾷ καρδίᾳ καὶ ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ χειρῶν ἐποίησα τοῦτο (lxx) Gen 20:5 nonne ipse dixit mihi: Soror mea est: et ipsa ait: Frater meus est? In simplicitate cordis mei, et munditia manuum mearum feci hoc.(vulgate) Genesis 20:5 Said not he vnto me, She is my sister? yea, and she her selfe said, He is my brother: with an vpright minde, and innocent handes haue I done this.(Geneva) Gen 20:5 Hat er nicht zu mir gesagt: Sie sei seine Schwester? In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:6 ============ Gen 20:6 Then God said to him in the dream, "Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also kept you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her.(nas) Gen 20:6 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς καθ᾽ ὕπνον κἀγὼ ἔγνων ὅτι ἐν καθαρᾷ καρδίᾳ ἐποίησας τοῦτο καὶ ἐφεισάμην ἐγώ σου τοῦ μὴ ἁμαρτεῖν σε εἰς ἐμέ ἕνεκεν τούτου οὐκ ἀφῆκά σε ἅψασθαι αὐτῆς (lxx) Gen 20:6 Dixitque ad eum Deus: Et ego scio quod simplici corde feceris: et ideo custodivi te ne peccares in me, et non dimisi ut tangeres eam.(vulgate) Genesis 20:6 And God saide vnto him by a dreame, I knowe that thou diddest this euen with an vpright minde, and I kept thee also that thou shouldest not sinne against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touche her.(Geneva) Gen 20:6 Und Gott sprach zu ihm im Traum: Ich weiß auch, daß du mit einfältigem Herzen das getan hast. Darum habe ich dich auch behütet, daß du nicht wider mich sündigtest, und habe es nicht zugegeben, daß du sie berührtest.(dhs) Gen 20:6 And God said to him in a dream, "Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:7 ============ Gen 20:7 Now therefore, restore the man's wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours."(nas) Gen 20:7 νῦν δὲ ἀπόδος τὴν γυναῖκα τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ὅτι προφήτης ἐστὶν καὶ προσεύξεται περὶ σοῦ καὶ ζήσῃ εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀποδίδως γνῶθι ὅτι ἀποθανῇ σὺ καὶ πάντα τὰ σά (lxx) Gen 20:7 Nunc ergo redde viro suo uxorem, quia propheta est: et orabit pro te, et vives: si autem nolueris reddere, scito quod morte morieris tu, et omnia quæ tua sunt.(vulgate) Genesis 20:7 Now then deliuer the man his wife againe: for he is a Prophet, and he shall pray for thee that thou mayest liue: but if thou deliuer her not againe, be sure that thou shalt die the death, thou, and all that thou hast.(Geneva) Gen 20:7 So gib nun dem Manne sein Weib wieder, denn er ist ein Prophet; und laß ihn für dich bitten, so wirst du lebendig bleiben. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:8 ============ Gen 20:8 So Abimelech arose early in the morning and called all his servants and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were greatly frightened.(nas) Gen 20:8 καὶ ὤρθρισεν Αβιμελεχ τὸ πρωὶ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐλάλησεν πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα εἰς τὰ ὦτα αὐτῶν ἐφοβήθησαν δὲ πάντες οἱ ἄνθρωποι σφόδρα (lxx) Gen 20:8 Statimque de nocte consurgens Abimelech, vocavit omnes servos suos: et locutus est universa verba hæc in auribus eorum, timueruntque omnes viri valde.(vulgate) Genesis 20:8 Then Abimelech rising vp early in ye morning, called all his seruants, and tolde all these things vnto them, and the men were sore afraid.(Geneva) Gen 20:8 Da stand Abimelech des Morgens früh auf und rief alle seine Knechte und sagte ihnen dieses alles vor ihren Ohren. Und die Leute fürchteten sich sehr.(dhs) Gen 20:8 So Abimelech rose early in the morning, called all his servants, and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were very much afraid.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:9 ============ Gen 20:9 Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, "What have you done to us? And how have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done to me things that ought not to be done."(nas) Gen 20:9 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αβιμελεχ τὸν Αβρααμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τί τοῦτο ἐποίησας ἡμῖν μή τι ἡμάρτομεν εἰς σέ ὅτι ἐπήγαγες ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν βασιλείαν μου ἁμαρτίαν μεγάλην ἔργον ὃ οὐδεὶς ποιήσει πεποίηκάς μοι (lxx) Gen 20:9 Vocavit autem Abimelech etiam Abraham, et dixit ei: Quid fecisti nobis? quid peccavimus in te, quia induxisti super me et super regnum meum peccatum grande? quæ non debuisti facere, fecisti nobis.(vulgate) Genesis 20:9 Afterward Abimelech called Abraham, and said vnto him, What hast thou done vnto vs? and what haue I offeded thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdome this great sinne? thou hast done things vnto me that ought not to be done.(Geneva) Gen 20:9 Und Abimelech rief Abraham auch und sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du uns das getan? Und was habe ich an dir gesündigt, daß du so eine große Sünde wolltest auf mich und mein Reich bringen? Du hast mit mir gehandelt, wie man nicht handeln soll.(dhs) Gen 20:9 And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, "What have you done to us? How have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:10 ============ Gen 20:10 And Abimelech said to Abraham, "What have you encountered, that you have done this thing?"(nas) Gen 20:10 εἶπεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ τῷ Αβρααμ τί ἐνιδὼν ἐποίησας τοῦτο (lxx) Gen 20:10 Rursumque expostulans, ait: Quid vidisti, ut hoc faceres?(vulgate) Genesis 20:10 So Abimelech said vnto Abraham, What sawest thou that thou hast done this thing?(Geneva) Gen 20:10 Und Abimelech sprach weiter zu Abraham: Was hast du gesehen, daß du solches getan hast?(dhs) Gen 20:10 Then Abimelech said to Abraham, "What did you have in view, that you have done this thing?"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:11 ============ Gen 20:11 Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.(nas) Gen 20:11 εἶπεν δὲ Αβρααμ εἶπα γάρ ἄρα οὐκ ἔστιν θεοσέβεια ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ ἐμέ τε ἀποκτενοῦσιν ἕνεκεν τῆς γυναικός μου (lxx) Gen 20:11 Respondit Abraham: Cogitavi mecum, dicens: Forsitan non est timor Dei in loco isto: et interficient me propter uxorem meam:(vulgate) Genesis 20:11 Then Abraha answered, Because I thought thus, Surely the feare of God is not in this place, and they will slay me for my wiues sake.(Geneva) Gen 20:11 Abraham sprach: Ich dachte, vielleicht ist keine Gottesfurcht an diesem Orte, und sie werden mich um meines Weibes willen erwürgen.(dhs) Gen 20:11 And Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:12 ============ Gen 20:12 Besides, she actually is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife;(nas) Gen 20:12 καὶ γὰρ ἀληθῶς ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν ἐκ πατρός ἀλλ᾽ οὐκ ἐκ μητρός ἐγενήθη δέ μοι εἰς γυναῖκα (lxx) Gen 20:12 alias autem et vere soror mea est, filia patris mei, et non filia matris meæ, et duxi eam in uxorem.(vulgate) Genesis 20:12 Yet in very deede she is my sister: for she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she is my wife.(Geneva) Gen 20:12 Auch ist sie wahrhaftig meine Schwester; denn sie ist meines Vaters Tochter, aber nicht meiner Mutter Tochter, und ist mein geworden.(dhs) Gen 20:12 But indeed she is truly my sister. She is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:13 ============ Gen 20:13 and it came about, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her, 'This is the kindness which you will show to me: everywhere we go, say of me, "He is my brother."'"(nas) Gen 20:13 ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἐξήγαγέν με ὁ θεὸς ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ εἶπα αὐτῇ ταύτην τὴν δικαιοσύνην ποιήσεις ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ εἰς πάντα τόπον οὗ ἐὰν εἰσέλθωμεν ἐκεῖ εἰπὸν ἐμὲ ὅτι ἀδελφός μού ἐστιν (lxx) Gen 20:13 Postquam autem eduxit me Deus de domo patris mei, dixi ad eam: Hanc misericordiam facies mecum: in omni loco, ad quem ingrediemur, dices quod frater tuus sim.(vulgate) Genesis 20:13 Nowe when God caused me to wander out of my fathers house, I said then to her, This is thy kindnes that thou shalt shewe vnto me in all places where we come, Say thou of me, He is my brother.(Geneva) Gen 20:13 Da mich aber Gott aus meines Vaters Hause wandern hieß, sprach ich zu ihr: Die Barmherzigkeit tu an mir, daß, wo wir hinkommen, du sagst, ich sei dein Bruder.(dhs) Gen 20:13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her, 'This is your kindness that you should do for me: in every place, wherever we go, say of me, "He is my brother." ' "(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:14 ============ Gen 20:14 Abimelech then took sheep and oxen and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored his wife Sarah to him.(nas) Gen 20:14 ἔλαβεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ χίλια δίδραχμα πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους καὶ παῖδας καὶ παιδίσκας καὶ ἔδωκεν τῷ Αβρααμ καὶ ἀπέδωκεν αὐτῷ Σαρραν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 20:14 Tulit igitur Abimelech oves et boves, et servos et ancillas, et dedit Abraham: reddiditque illi Saram uxorem suam,(vulgate) Genesis 20:14 Then tooke Abimelech sheepe & beeues, & men seruants, & women seruants, & gaue them vnto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.(Geneva) Gen 20:14 Da nahm Abimelech Schafe und Rinder, Knechte und Mägde und gab sie Abraham und gab ihm wieder sein Weib Sara(dhs) Gen 20:14 Then Abimelech took sheep, oxen, and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham; and he restored Sarah his wife to him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:15 ============ Gen 20:15 Abimelech said, "Behold, my land is before you; settle wherever you please."(nas) Gen 20:15 καὶ εἶπεν Αβιμελεχ τῷ Αβρααμ ἰδοὺ ἡ γῆ μου ἐναντίον σου οὗ ἐάν σοι ἀρέσκῃ κατοίκει (lxx) Gen 20:15 et ait: Terra coram vobis est, ubicumque tibi placuerit habita.(vulgate) Genesis 20:15 And Abimelech saide, Beholde, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.(Geneva) Gen 20:15 und sprach: Siehe da, mein Land steht dir offen; wohne, wo dir's wohl gefällt.(dhs) Gen 20:15 And Abimelech said, "See, my land is before you; dwell where it pleases you."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:16 ============ Gen 20:16 To Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; behold, it is your vindication before all who are with you, and before all men you are cleared."(nas) Gen 20:16 τῇ δὲ Σαρρα εἶπεν ἰδοὺ δέδωκα χίλια δίδραχμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου ταῦτα ἔσται σοι εἰς τιμὴν τοῦ προσώπου σου καὶ πάσαις ταῖς μετὰ σοῦ καὶ πάντα ἀλήθευσον (lxx) Gen 20:16 Saræ autem dixit: Ecce mille argenteos dedi fratri tuo, hoc erit tibi in velamen oculorum ad omnes qui tecum sunt, et quocumque perrexeris: mementoque te deprehensam.(vulgate) Genesis 20:16 Likewise to Sarah he said, Beholde, I haue giuen thy brother a thousand pieces of siluer: behold, he is the vaile of thine eyes to all that are with thee, and to all others: and she was thus reproued.(Geneva) Gen 20:16 Und sprach zu Sara: Siehe da, ich habe deinem Bruder tausend Silberlinge gegeben; siehe, das soll dir eine Decke der Augen sein vor allen, die bei dir sind, und allenthalben. Und damit war ihr Recht verschafft.(dhs) Gen 20:16 Then to Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this vindicates you before all who are with you and before everybody." Thus she was rebuked.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:17 ============ Gen 20:17 Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maids, so that they bore children.(nas) Gen 20:17 προσηύξατο δὲ Αβρααμ πρὸς τὸν θεόν καὶ ἰάσατο ὁ θεὸς τὸν Αβιμελεχ καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς παιδίσκας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔτεκον (lxx) Gen 20:17 Orante autem Abraham, sanavit Deus Abimelech et uxorem, ancillasque ejus, et pepererunt:(vulgate) Genesis 20:17 Then Abraham prayed vnto God, and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his women seruants: and they bare children.(Geneva) Gen 20:17 Abraham aber betete zu Gott; da heilte Gott Abimelech und sein Weib und seine Mägde, daß sie Kinder gebaren.(dhs) Gen 20:17 So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children;(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:18 ============ Gen 20:18 For the Lord had closed fast all the wombs of the household of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham's wife. (nas) Gen 20:18 ὅτι συγκλείων συνέκλεισεν κύριος ἔξωθεν πᾶσαν μήτραν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ Αβιμελεχ ἕνεκεν Σαρρας τῆς γυναικὸς Αβρααμ (lxx) Gen 20:18 concluserat enim Dominus omnem vulvam domus Abimelech propter Saram uxorem Abrahæ.(vulgate) Genesis 20:18 For the Lorde had shut vp euery wombe of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abrahams wife.(Geneva) Gen 20:18 Denn der HERR hatte zuvor hart verschlossen alle Mütter des Hauses Abimelechs um Saras, Abrahams Weibes, willen.(dhs) Gen 20:18 for the Lord had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:1 ============ Gen 21:1 Then the Lord took note of Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had promised.(nas) Gen 21:1 καὶ κύριος ἐπεσκέψατο τὴν Σαρραν καθὰ εἶπεν καὶ ἐποίησεν κύριος τῇ Σαρρα καθὰ ἐλάλησεν (lxx) Gen 21:1 Visitavit autem Dominus Saram, sicut promiserat: et implevit quæ locutus est.(vulgate) Genesis 21:1 Nowe the Lord visited Sarah, as he had saide, and did vnto her according as he had promised.(Geneva) Gen 21:1 Und der HERR suchte heim Sara, wie er geredet hatte, und tat mit ihr, wie er geredet hatte.(dhs) Gen 21:1 And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken.(nkjv) |
