And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant which had been found in the house of the Lord.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:3 ============ 2Ki 23:3 The king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to carry out the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people entered into the covenant.(nas) 2Ki 23:3 καὶ ἔστη ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς τὸν στῦλον καὶ διέθετο διαθήκην ἐνώπιον κυρίου τοῦ πορεύεσθαι ὀπίσω κυρίου καὶ τοῦ φυλάσσειν τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ μαρτύρια αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτοῦ ἐν πάσῃ καρδίᾳ καὶ ἐν πάσῃ ψυχῇ τοῦ ἀναστῆσαι τοὺς λόγους τῆς διαθήκης ταύτης τὰ γεγραμμένα ἐπὶ τὸ βιβλίον τοῦτο καὶ ἔστη πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἐν τῇ διαθήκῃ (lxx) 2Ki 23:3 Stetitque rex super gradum: et fœdus percussit coram Domino, ut ambularent post Dominum, et custodirent præcepta ejus, et testimonia, et cæremonias in omni corde, et in tota anima, et suscitarent verba fœderis hujus, quæ scripta erant in libro illo: acquievitque populus pacto.(vulgate) 2 Kings 23:3 And the King stood by the pillar, & made a couenant before the Lorde, that they shoulde walke after the Lord, and keepe his commandements, and his testimonies, and his statutes with all their heart, and with all their soule, that they might accomplish the wordes of this couenant written in this booke; all the people stood to the couenant.(Geneva) 2Ki 23:3 Und der König trat an die Säule und machte einen Bund vor dem HERRN, daß sie sollten wandeln dem HERRN nach und halten seine Gebote, Zeugnisse und Rechte von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele, daß sie aufrichteten die Worte dieses Bundes, die geschrieben standen in diesem Buch. Und alles Volk trat in den Bund.(dhs) 2Ki 23:3 Then the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:4 ============ 2Ki 23:4 Then the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest and the priests of the second order and the doorkeepers, to bring out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the host of heaven; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel. (nas) 2Ki 23:4 καὶ ἐνετείλατο ὁ βασιλεὺς τῷ Χελκια τῷ ἱερεῖ τῷ μεγάλῳ καὶ τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν τῆς δευτερώσεως καὶ τοῖς φυλάσσουσιν τὸν σταθμὸν τοῦ ἐξαγαγεῖν ἐκ τοῦ ναοῦ κυρίου πάντα τὰ σκεύη τὰ πεποιημένα τῷ Βααλ καὶ τῷ ἄλσει καὶ πάσῃ τῇ δυνάμει τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ κατέκαυσεν αὐτὰ ἔξω Ιερουσαλημ ἐν σαδημωθ Κεδρων καὶ ἔλαβεν τὸν χοῦν αὐτῶν εἰς Βαιθηλ (lxx) 2Ki 23:4 Et præcepit rex Helciæ pontifici, et sacerdotibus secundi ordinis, et janitoribus, ut projicerent de templo Domini omnia vasa quæ facta fuerant Baal, et in luco, et universæ militiæ cæli: et combussit ea foris Jerusalem in convalle Cedron, et tulit pulverem eorum in Bethel.(vulgate) 2 Kings 23:4 Then the King commanded Hilkiah the hie Priest and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the doore, to bring out of ye Temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the groue, and for all the hoste of heauen, and he burnt them without Ierusalem in the fieldes of Kedron, and caryed the pouder of them into Beth-el.(Geneva) 2Ki 23:4 Und der König gebot dem Hohenpriester Hilkia und den nächsten Priestern nach ihm und den Hütern an der Schwelle, daß sie sollten aus dem Tempel des HERRN tun alle Geräte, die dem Baal und der Aschera und allem Heer des Himmels gemacht waren. Und sie verbrannten sie außen vor Jerusalem im Tal Kidron, und ihr Staub ward getragen gen Beth-El.(dhs) 2Ki 23:4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers, to bring out of the temple of the Lord all the articles that were made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the host of heaven; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:5 ============ 2Ki 23:5 He did away with the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had appointed to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah and in the surrounding area of Jerusalem, also those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun and to the moon and to the constellations and to all the host of heaven. (nas) 2Ki 23:5 καὶ κατέπαυσεν τοὺς χωμαριμ οὓς ἔδωκαν βασιλεῖς Ιουδα καὶ ἐθυμίων ἐν τοῖς ὑψηλοῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ τοῖς περικύκλῳ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ τοὺς θυμιῶντας τῷ Βααλ καὶ τῷ ἡλίῳ καὶ τῇ σελήνῃ καὶ τοῖς μαζουρωθ καὶ πάσῃ τῇ δυνάμει τοῦ οὐρανοῦ (lxx) 2Ki 23:5 Et delevit aruspices quos posuerant reges Juda ad sacrificandum in excelsis per civitates Juda, et in circuitu Jerusalem: et eos qui adolebant incensum Baal, et soli, et lunæ, et duodecim signis, et omni militiæ cæli.(vulgate) 2 Kings 23:5 And he put downe the Chemarims, whom the Kings of Iudah had founded to burne incense in the hie places, and in the cities of Iudah, and about Ierusalem, and also them that burnt incense vnto Baal, to the sunne and to the moone, and to the planets, & to all the hoste of heauen.(Geneva) 2Ki 23:5 Und er tat ab die Götzenpfaffen, welche die Könige Juda's hatten eingesetzt, zu räuchern auf den Höhen in den Städten Juda's und um Jerusalem her, auch die Räucherer des Baal und der Sonne und des Mondes und der Planeten und alles Heeres am Himmel.(dhs) 2Ki 23:5 Then he removed the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places all around Jerusalem, and those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:6 ============ 2Ki 23:6 He brought out the Asherah from the house of the Lord outside Jerusalem to the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and ground it to dust, and threw its dust on the graves of the common people. (nas) 2Ki 23:6 καὶ ἐξήνεγκεν τὸ ἄλσος ἐξ οἴκου κυρίου ἔξωθεν Ιερουσαλημ εἰς τὸν χειμάρρουν Κεδρων καὶ κατέκαυσεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ χειμάρρῳ Κεδρων καὶ ἐλέπτυνεν εἰς χοῦν καὶ ἔρριψεν τὸν χοῦν αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν τάφον τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ λαοῦ (lxx) 2Ki 23:6 Et efferri fecit lucum de domo Domini foras Jerusalem in convalle Cedron, et combussit eum ibi, et redegit in pulverem, et projecit super sepulchra vulgi.(vulgate) 2 Kings 23:6 And he brought out the groue from the Temple of the Lord without Ierusalem vnto the valley of Kedron, and burnt it in the valley Kedron, and stampt it to pouder, and cast the dust thereof vpon the graues of the children of the people.(Geneva) 2Ki 23:6 Und ließ das Ascherabild aus dem Hause des HERRN führen hinaus vor Jerusalem an den Bach Kidron und verbrannte es am Bach Kidron und machte es zu Staub und man warf den Staub auf die Gräber der gemeinen Leute.(dhs) 2Ki 23:6 And he brought out the wooden image from the house of the Lord, to the Brook Kidron outside Jerusalem, burned it at the Brook Kidron and ground it to ashes, and threw its ashes on the graves of the common people.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:7 ============ 2Ki 23:7 He also broke down the houses of the male cult prostitutes which were in the house of the Lord, where the women were weaving hangings for the Asherah. (nas) 2Ki 23:7 καὶ καθεῖλεν τὸν οἶκον τῶν καδησιμ τῶν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ κυρίου οὗ αἱ γυναῖκες ὕφαινον ἐκεῖ χεττιιν τῷ ἄλσει (lxx) 2Ki 23:7 Destruxit quoque ædiculas effeminatorum quæ erant in domo Domini, pro quibus mulieres texebant quasi domunculas luci.(vulgate) 2 Kings 23:7 And hee brake downe the houses of the Sodomites, that were in the house of the Lord, where the women woue hangings for the groue.(Geneva) 2Ki 23:7 Und er brach ab die Häuser der Hurer, die an dem Hause des HERRN waren, darin die Weiber wirkten Häuser für die Aschera.(dhs) 2Ki 23:7 Then he tore down the ritual booths of the perverted persons that were in the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the wooden image.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:8 ============ 2Ki 23:8 Then he brought all the priests from the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba; and he broke down the high places of the gates which were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on one’s left at the city gate. (nas) 2Ki 23:8 καὶ ἀνήγαγεν πάντας τοὺς ἱερεῖς ἐκ πόλεων Ιουδα καὶ ἐμίανεν τὰ ὑψηλά οὗ ἐθυμίασαν ἐκεῖ οἱ ἱερεῖς ἀπὸ Γαβαα καὶ ἕως Βηρσαβεε καὶ καθεῖλεν τὸν οἶκον τῶν πυλῶν τὸν παρὰ τὴν θύραν τῆς πύλης Ιησου ἄρχοντος τῆς πόλεως τῶν ἐξ ἀριστερῶν ἀνδρὸς ἐν τῇ πύλῃ τῆς πόλεως (lxx) 2Ki 23:8 Congregavitque omnes sacerdotes de civitatibus Juda, et contaminavit excelsa ubi sacrificabant sacerdotes de Gabaa usque Bersabee, et destruxit aras portarum in introitu ostii Josue principis civitatis, quod erat ad sinistram portæ civitatis.(vulgate) 2 Kings 23:8 Also he brought all the priests out of the cities of Iudah, and defiled the hie places where the Priests had burnt incense, euen from Geba to Beer-sheba, and destroyed the hie places of the gates, that were in the entring in of the gate of Ioshua the gouernour of the citie, which was at the left hand of the gate of the citie.(Geneva) 2Ki 23:8 Und ließ kommen alle Priester aus den Städten Juda's und verunreinigte die Höhen, da die Priester räucherten, von Geba an bis gen Beer-Seba, und brach ab die Höhen an den Toren, die an der Tür des Tors Josuas, des Stadtvogts, waren und zur Linken, wenn man zum Tor der Stadt geht.(dhs) 2Ki 23:8 And he brought all the priests from the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba; also he broke down the high places at the gates which were at the entrance of the Gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were to the left of the city gate.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:9 ============ 2Ki 23:9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places did not go up to the altar of the Lord in Jerusalem, but they ate unleavened bread among their brothers. (nas) 2Ki 23:9 πλὴν οὐκ ἀνέβησαν οἱ ἱερεῖς τῶν ὑψηλῶν πρὸς τὸ θυσιαστήριον κυρίου ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ὅτι εἰ μὴ ἔφαγον ἄζυμα ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν (lxx) 2Ki 23:9 Verumtamen non ascendebant sacerdotes excelsorum ad altare Domini in Jerusalem: sed tantum comedebant azyma in medio fratrum suorum.(vulgate) 2 Kings 23:9 Neuerthelesse the Priests of the hie places came not vp to the altar of the Lorde in Ierusalem, saue onely they did eate of the vnleauened bread among their brethren.(Geneva) 2Ki 23:9 Doch durften die Priester der Höhen nicht opfern auf dem Altar des HERRN zu Jerusalem, sondern aßen ungesäuertes Brot unter ihren Brüdern.(dhs) 2Ki 23:9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places did not come up to the altar of the Lord in Jerusalem, but they ate unleavened bread among their brethren.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:10 ============ 2Ki 23:10 He also defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter pass through the fire for Molech. (nas) 2Ki 23:11 καὶ κατέπαυσεν τοὺς ἵππους οὓς ἔδωκαν βασιλεῖς Ιουδα τῷ ἡλίῳ ἐν τῇ εἰσόδῳ οἴκου κυρίου εἰς τὸ γαζοφυλάκιον Ναθαν βασιλέως τοῦ εὐνούχου ἐν φαρουριμ καὶ τὸ ἅρμα τοῦ ἡλίου κατέκαυσεν πυρί (lxx) 2Ki 23:11 Abstulit quoque equos quos dederant reges Juda soli in introitu templi Domini juxta exedram Nathanmelech eunuchi, qui erat in Pharurim: currus autem solis combussit igni.(vulgate) 2 Kings 23:11 He put downe also the horses that the Kings of Iudah had giuen to the sunne at the entring in of the house of the Lorde, by the chamber of Nethan-melech the eunuche, which was ruler of the suburbes, and burnt the charets of the sunne with fire.(Geneva) 2Ki 23:11 Und tat ab die Rosse, welche die Könige Juda's hatten der Sonne gesetzt am Eingang des Hauses des HERRN, an der Kammer Nethan-Melechs, des Kämmerers, die im Parwarim war; und die Wagen der Sonne verbrannte er mit Feuer.(dhs) 2Ki 23:11 Then he removed the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun, at the entrance to the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nathan-Melech, the officer who was in the court; and he burned the chariots of the sun with fire.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:12 ============ 2Ki 23:12 The altars which were on the roof, the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, the king broke down; and he smashed them there and threw their dust into the brook Kidron. (nas) 2Ki 23:12 καὶ τὰ θυσιαστήρια τὰ ἐπὶ τοῦ δώματος τοῦ ὑπερῴου Αχαζ ἃ ἐποίησαν βασιλεῖς Ιουδα καὶ τὰ θυσιαστήρια ἃ ἐποίησεν Μανασσης ἐν ταῖς δυσὶν αὐλαῖς οἴκου κυρίου καὶ καθεῖλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ κατέσπασεν ἐκεῖθεν καὶ ἔρριψεν τὸν χοῦν αὐτῶν εἰς τὸν χειμάρρουν Κεδρων (lxx) 2Ki 23:12 Altaria quoque quæ erant super tecta cœnaculi Achaz, quæ fecerant reges Juda, et altaria quæ fecerat Manasses in duobus atriis templi Domini, destruxit rex, et cucurrit inde, et dispersit cinerem eorum in torrentem Cedron.(vulgate) 2 Kings 23:12 And the altars that were on the top of the chamber of Ahaz, which the Kings of Iudah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord did the King breake downe, and hasted thence, & cast the dust of them in the brooke Kedron.(Geneva) 2Ki 23:12 Und die Altäre auf dem Dach, dem Söller des Ahas, die die Könige Juda's gemacht hatten, und die Altäre, die Manasse gemacht hatte in den zwei Höfen des Hauses des HERRN, brach der König ab, und lief von dannen und warf ihren Staub in den Bach Kidron.(dhs) 2Ki 23:12 The altars that were on the roof, the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, the king broke down and pulverized there, and threw their dust into the Brook Kidron.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 23:13 ============ 2Ki 23:13 The high places which were before Jerusalem, which were on the right of the mount of destruction which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the sons of Ammon, the king defiled. And King Josiah went to meet him, and when Pharaoh Neco saw him he killed him at Megiddo.
