(nas) Ecl 12:4 καὶ κλείσουσιν θύρας ἐν ἀγορᾷ ἐν ἀσθενείᾳ φωνῆς τῆς ἀληθούσης καὶ ἀναστήσεται εἰς φωνὴν τοῦ στρουθίου καὶ ταπεινωθήσονται πᾶσαι αἱ θυγατέρες τοῦ ᾄσματος (lxx) Ecl 12:4 et claudent ostia in platea, in humilitate vocis molentis, et consurgent ad vocem volucris, et obsurdescent omnes filiæ carminis:(vulgate) Ecclesiastes 12:4 And the doores shall be shut without by the base sound of the grinding, and he shall rise vp at the voice of the birde: and all the daughters of singing shall be abased.(Geneva) Ecl 12:4 und die Türen an der Gasse geschlossen werden, daß die Stimme der Mühle leise wird, und man erwacht, wenn der Vogel singt, und gedämpft sind alle Töchter des Gesangs;(dhs) Ecl 12:4 When the doors are shut in the streets, And the sound of grinding is low; When one rises up at the sound of a bird, And all the daughters of music are brought low;(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 12:5 ============ Ecl 12:5 Furthermore, men are afraid of a high place and of terrors on the road; the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper drags himself along, and the caperberry is ineffective. For man goes to his eternal home while mourners go about in the street. (nas) Ecl 12:5 καί γε ἀπὸ ὕψους ὄψονται καὶ θάμβοι ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ ἀνθήσῃ τὸ ἀμύγδαλον καὶ παχυνθῇ ἡ ἀκρίς καὶ διασκεδασθῇ ἡ κάππαρις ὅτι ἐπορεύθη ὁ ἄνθρωπος εἰς οἶκον αἰῶνος αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκύκλωσαν ἐν ἀγορᾷ οἱ κοπτόμενοι (lxx) Ecl 12:5 excelsa quoque timebunt, et formidabunt in via. Florebit amygdalus, impinguabitur locusta, et dissipabitur capparis, quoniam ibit homo in domum æternitatis suæ, et circuibunt in platea plangentes.(vulgate) Ecclesiastes 12:5 Also they shalbe afraide of the hie thing, and feare shalbe in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grassehopper shall be a burden, and concupiscence shall be driuen away: for man goeth to the house of his age, and the mourners goe about in the streete.(Geneva) Ecl 12:5 wenn man auch vor Höhen sich fürchtet und sich scheut auf dem Wege; wenn der Mandelbaum blüht, und die Heuschrecke beladen wird, und alle Lust vergeht (denn der Mensch fährt hin, da er ewig bleibt, und die Klageleute gehen umher auf der Gasse);(dhs) Ecl 12:5 Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way; When the almond tree blossoms, The grasshopper is a burden, And desire fails. (nas) Ecl 12:11 λόγοι σοφῶν ὡς τὰ βούκεντρα καὶ ὡς ἧλοι πεφυτευμένοι οἳ παρὰ τῶν συναγμάτων ἐδόθησαν ἐκ ποιμένος ἑνὸς καὶ περισσὸν ἐξ αὐτῶν (lxx) Ecl 12:11 Verba sapientium sicut stimuli, et quasi clavi in altum defixi, quæ per magistrorum consilium data sunt a pastore uno.(vulgate) Ecclesiastes 12:11 The wordes of the wise are like goads, and like nailes fastened by the masters of the assemblies, which are giuen by one pastour.(Geneva) Ecl 12:11 Die Worte der Weisen sind Stacheln und Nägel; sie sind geschrieben durch die Meister der Versammlungen und von einem Hirten gegeben.(dhs) Ecl 12:11 The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of scholars are like well-driven nails, given by one Shepherd.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 12:12 ============ Ecl 12:12 But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. (nas) Ecl 12:12 υἱέ μου φύλαξαι ποιῆσαι βιβλία πολλά οὐκ ἔστιν περασμός καὶ μελέτη πολλὴ κόπωσις σαρκός (lxx) Ecl 12:12 His amplius, fili mi, ne requiras. Faciendi plures libros nullus est finis; frequensque meditatio, carnis afflictio est.(vulgate) Ecclesiastes 12:12 And of other things beside these, my sone, take thou heede: for there is none ende in making many bookes, and much reading is a wearines of the flesh.(Geneva) Ecl 12:12 Hüte dich, mein Sohn, vor andern mehr; denn viel Büchermachens ist kein Ende, und viel studieren macht den Leib müde.(dhs) Ecl 12:12 And further, my son, be admonished by these.
