(nas) Isa 29:1 οὐαὶ πόλις Αριηλ ἣν Δαυιδ ἐπολέμησεν συναγάγετε γενήματα ἐνιαυτὸν ἐπ᾽ ἐνιαυτόν φάγεσθε γὰρ σὺν Μωαβ (lxx) Isa 29:1 [Væ Ariel, Ariel civitas, quam expugnavit David! additus est annus ad annum: solemnitates evolutæ sunt.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:1 Ah altar, altar of the citie that Dauid dwelt in: adde yere vnto yere: let them kil lambs.(Geneva) Isa 29:1 Weh Ariel, Ariel, du Stadt des Lagers Davids! Add year to year; Let feasts come around.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:2 ============ Isa 29:2 I will bring distress to Ariel, And she will be a city of lamenting and mourning; And she will be like an Ariel to me. (nas) Isa 29:2 ἐκθλίψω γὰρ Αριηλ καὶ ἔσται αὐτῆς ἡ ἰσχὺς καὶ τὸ πλοῦτος ἐμοί (lxx) Isa 29:2 Et circumvallabo Ariel, et erit tristis et mœrens, et erit mihi quasi Ariel.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:2 But I wil bring the altar into distresse, and there shalbe heauines and sorowe, and it shall be vnto me like an altar.(Geneva) Isa 29:2 dann will ich den Ariel ängsten, daß er traurig und voll Jammers sei; und er soll mir ein rechter Ariel sein.(dhs) Isa 29:2 Yet I will distress Ariel; There shall be heaviness and sorrow, And it shall be to Me as Ariel.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:3 ============ Isa 29:3 I will camp against you encircling you, And I will set siegeworks against you, And I will raise up battle towers against you. (nas) Isa 29:3 καὶ κυκλώσω ὡς Δαυιδ ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ βαλῶ περὶ σὲ χάρακα καὶ θήσω περὶ σὲ πύργους (lxx) Isa 29:3 Et circumdabo quasi sphæram in circuitu tuo, et jaciam contra te aggerem, et munimenta ponam in obsidionem tuam.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:3 And I wil besiege thee as a circle, and fight against thee on a mount, and will cast vp ramparts against thee.(Geneva) Isa 29:3 Denn ich will dich belagern ringsumher und will dich ängsten mit Bollwerk und will Wälle um dich aufführen lassen.(dhs) Isa 29:3 I will encamp against you all around, I will lay siege against you with a mound, And I will raise siegeworks against you.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:4 ============ Isa 29:4 Then you will be brought low; From the earth you will speak, And from the dust where you are prostrate Your words will come. Your voice will also be like that of a spirit from the ground, And your speech will whisper from the dust. (nas) Isa 29:4 καὶ ταπεινωθήσονται οἱ λόγοι σου εἰς τὴν γῆν καὶ εἰς τὴν γῆν οἱ λόγοι σου δύσονται καὶ ἔσται ὡς οἱ φωνοῦντες ἐκ τῆς γῆς ἡ φωνή σου καὶ πρὸς τὸ ἔδαφος ἡ φωνή σου ἀσθενήσει (lxx) Isa 29:4 Humiliaberis, de terra loqueris, et de humo audietur eloquium tuum; et erit quasi pythonis de terra vox tua, et de humo eloquium tuum mussitabit.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:4 So shalt thou be humbled, and shalt speake out of the ground, and thy speach shalbe as out of the dust: thy voyce also shall be out of the ground like him that hath a spirite of diuination, and thy talking shall whisper out of the dust.(Geneva) Isa 29:4 Alsdann sollst du erniedrigt werden und aus der Erde reden und aus dem Staube mit deiner Rede murmeln, daß deine Stimme sei wie eines Zauberers aus der Erde und deine Rede aus dem Staube wispele.(dhs) Isa 29:4 You shall be brought down, You shall speak out of the ground; Your speech shall be low, out of the dust; Your voice shall be like a medium's, out of the ground; And your speech shall whisper out of the dust.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:5 ============ Isa 29:5 But the multitude of your enemies will become like fine dust, And the multitude of the ruthless ones like the chaff which blows away; And it will happen instantly, suddenly. (nas) Isa 29:5 καὶ ἔσται ὡς κονιορτὸς ἀπὸ τροχοῦ ὁ πλοῦτος τῶν ἀσεβῶν καὶ ὡς χνοῦς φερόμενος καὶ ἔσται ὡς στιγμὴ παραχρῆμα (lxx) Isa 29:5 Et erit sicut pulvis tenuis multitudo ventilantium te, et sicut favilla pertransiens multitudo eorum qui contra te prævaluerunt;(vulgate) Isaiah 29:5 Moreouer, the multitude of thy strangers shalbe like small dust, and the multitude of strong men shalbe as chaffe that passeth away, and it shal be in a moment, euen suddenly.(Geneva) Isa 29:5 Aber die Menge deiner Feinde soll werden wie dünner Staub und die Menge der Tyrannen wie wehende Spreu; und das soll plötzlich unversehens geschehen.(dhs) Isa 29:5 "Moreover the multitude of your foes Shall be like fine dust, And the multitude of the terrible ones Like chaff that passes away; Yes, it shall be in an instant, suddenly.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:6 ============ Isa 29:6 From the Lord of hosts you will be punished with thunder and earthquake and loud noise, With whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a consuming fire. (nas) Isa 29:6 παρὰ κυρίου σαβαωθ ἐπισκοπὴ γὰρ ἔσται μετὰ βροντῆς καὶ σεισμοῦ καὶ φωνῆς μεγάλης καταιγὶς φερομένη καὶ φλὸξ πυρὸς κατεσθίουσα (lxx) Isa 29:6 eritque repente confestim. A Domino exercituum visitabitur in tonitruo, et commotione terræ, et voce magna turbinis et tempestatis, et flammæ ignis devorantis.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:6 Thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hostes with thunder, and shaking, and a great noyse, a whirlewinde, and a tempest, and a flame of a deuouring fire.(Geneva) Isa 29:6 Denn vom HERRN Zebaoth wird Heimsuchung geschehen mit Wetter und Erdbeben und großem Donner, mit Windwirbel und Ungewitter und mit Flammen des verzehrenden Feuers.(dhs) Isa 29:6 You will be punished by the Lord of hosts With thunder and earthquake and great noise, With storm and tempest And the flame of devouring fire.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:7 ============ Isa 29:7 And the multitude of all the nations who wage war against Ariel, Even all who wage war against her and her stronghold, and who distress her, Will be like a dream, a vision of the night. (nas) Isa 29:7 καὶ ἔσται ὡς ὁ ἐνυπνιαζόμενος ἐν ὕπνῳ ὁ πλοῦτος τῶν ἐθνῶν πάντων ὅσοι ἐπεστράτευσαν ἐπὶ Αριηλ καὶ πάντες οἱ στρατευσάμενοι ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ πάντες οἱ συνηγμένοι ἐπ᾽ αὐτὴν καὶ θλίβοντες αὐτήν (lxx) Isa 29:7 Et erit sicut somnium visionis nocturnæ multitudo omnium gentium quæ dimicaverunt contra Ariel, et omnes qui militaverunt, et obsederunt, et prævaluerunt adversus eam.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:7 And the multitude of all the nations that fight against the altar, shalbe as a dreame or vision by night: euen all they that make the warre against it, and strong holdes against it, and lay siege vnto it.(Geneva) Isa 29:7 Und wie ein Nachtgesicht im Traum, so soll sein die Menge aller Heiden, die wider Ariel streiten, samt allem Heer und Bollwerk, und die ihn ängsten.(dhs) Isa 29:7 The multitude of all the nations who fight against Ariel, Even all who fight against her and her fortress, And distress her, Shall be as a dream of a night vision.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:8 ============ Isa 29:8 It will be as when a hungry man dreams-- And behold, he is eating; But when he awakens, his hunger is not satisfied, Or as when a thirsty man dreams-- And behold, he is drinking, But when he awakens, behold, he is faint And his thirst is not quenched. Thus the multitude of all the nations will be Who wage war against Mount Zion. (nas) Isa 29:8 καὶ ἔσονται ὡς οἱ ἐν ὕπνῳ πίνοντες καὶ ἔσθοντες καὶ ἐξαναστάντων μάταιον αὐτῶν τὸ ἐνύπνιον καὶ ὃν τρόπον ἐνυπνιάζεται ὁ διψῶν ὡς πίνων καὶ ἐξαναστὰς ἔτι διψᾷ ἡ δὲ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ εἰς κενὸν ἤλπισεν οὕτως ἔσται ὁ πλοῦτος πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν ὅσοι ἐπεστράτευσαν ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος Σιων (lxx) Isa 29:8 Et sicut somniat esuriens, et comedit, cum autem fuerit expergefactus, vacua est anima ejus; et sicut somniat sitiens et bibit, et postquam fuerit expergefactus, lassus adhuc sitit, et anima ejus vacua est: sic erit multitudo omnium gentium quæ dimicaverunt contra montem Sion.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:8 And it shalbe like as an hungry man dreameth, and beholde, he eateth: and when he awaketh, his soule is emptie: or like as a thirsty man dreameth, and loe, he is drinking, and when he awaketh, beholde, he is faint, and his soule longeth: so shal the multitude of all nations be that fight against mount Zion.(Geneva) Isa 29:8 Denn gleichwie einem Hungrigen träumt, daß er esse, wenn er aber aufwacht, so ist seine Seele noch leer; und wie einem Durstigen träumt, daß er trinke, wenn er aber aufwacht, ist er matt und durstig: also soll sein die Menge aller Heiden, die wider den Berg Zion streiten.(dhs) Isa 29:8 It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams, And look--he eats; But he awakes, and his soul is still empty; Or as when a thirsty man dreams, And look--he drinks; But he awakes, and indeed he is faint, And his soul still craves: So the multitude of all the nations shall be, Who fight against Mount Zion."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:9 ============ Isa 29:9 Be delayed and wait, Blind yourselves and be blind; They become drunk, but not with wine, They stagger, but not with strong drink. (nas) Isa 29:9 ἐκλύθητε καὶ ἔκστητε καὶ κραιπαλήσατε οὐκ ἀπὸ σικερα οὐδὲ ἀπὸ οἴνου (lxx) Isa 29:9 Obstupescite et admiramini; fluctuate et vacillate; inebriamini, et non a vino; movemini, et non ab ebrietate.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:9 Stay your selues, and wonder: they are blinde, and make you blinde: they are drunken but not with wine: they stagger, but not by strong drinke.(Geneva) Isa 29:9 Erstarret und werdet bestürzt, verblendet euch und werdet blind! Werdet trunken, doch nicht vom Wein, taumelt, doch nicht von starkem Getränk!(dhs) Isa 29:9 Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:10 ============ Isa 29:10 For the Lord has poured over you a spirit of deep sleep, He has shut your eyes, the prophets; And He has covered your heads, the seers. (nas) Isa 29:10 ὅτι πεπότικεν ὑμᾶς κύριος πνεύματι κατανύξεως καὶ καμμύσει τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ τῶν προφητῶν αὐτῶν καὶ τῶν ἀρχόντων αὐτῶν οἱ ὁρῶντες τὰ κρυπτά (lxx) Isa 29:10 Quoniam miscuit vobis Dominus spiritum soporis; claudet oculos vestros: prophetas et principes vestros, qui vident visiones, operiet.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:10 For the Lord hath couered you with a spirite of slumber, and hath shut vp your eyes: the Prophets, & your chiefe Seers hath he couered.(Geneva) Isa 29:10 Denn der HERR hat euch einen Geist des harten Schlafs eingeschenkt und eure Augen zugetan; eure Propheten und Fürsten samt den Sehern hat er verhüllt,(dhs) Isa 29:10 For the Lord has poured out on you The spirit of deep sleep, And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets; And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:11 ============ Isa 29:11 The entire vision will be to you like the words of a sealed book, which when they give it to the one who is literate, saying, "Please read this," he will say, "I cannot, for it is sealed."(nas) Isa 29:11 καὶ ἔσονται ὑμῖν πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ὡς οἱ λόγοι τοῦ βιβλίου τοῦ ἐσφραγισμένου τούτου ὃ ἐὰν δῶσιν αὐτὸ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐπισταμένῳ γράμματα λέγοντες ἀνάγνωθι ταῦτα καὶ ἐρεῖ οὐ δύναμαι ἀναγνῶναι ἐσφράγισται γάρ (lxx) Isa 29:11 Et erit vobis visio omnium sicut verba libri signati, quem cum dederint scienti litteras, dicent: Lege istum: et respondebit: Non possum, signatus est enim.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:11 And the vision of them all is become vnto you, as the wordes of a booke that is sealed vp, which they deliuer to one that can reade, saying, Reade this, I pray thee. Then shall he say, I can not: for it is sealed.(Geneva) Isa 29:11 daß euch aller Propheten Gesichte sein werden wie die Worte eines versiegelten Buches, welches man gäbe einem, der lesen kann, und spräche: Lies doch das! und er spräche: Ich kann nicht, denn es ist versiegelt;(dhs) Isa 29:11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, "Read this, please." And he says, "I cannot, for it is sealed."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:12 ============ Isa 29:12 Then the book will be given to the one who is illiterate, saying, "Please read this." And he will say, "I cannot read."(nas) Isa 29:12 καὶ δοθήσεται τὸ βιβλίον τοῦτο εἰς χεῖρας ἀνθρώπου μὴ ἐπισταμένου γράμματα καὶ ἐρεῖ αὐτῷ ἀνάγνωθι τοῦτο καὶ ἐρεῖ οὐκ ἐπίσταμαι γράμματα (lxx) Isa 29:12 Et dabitur liber nescienti litteras, diceturque ei: Lege; et respondebit: Nescio litteras.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:12 And the booke is giuen vnto him that can not reade, saying, Reade this, I pray thee; he shall say, I can not reade.(Geneva) Isa 29:12 oder gleich als wenn man's gäbe dem, der nicht lesen kann, und spräche: Lies doch das! und er spräche: Ich kann nicht lesen.(dhs) Isa 29:12 Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, "Read this, please." And he says, "I am not literate."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:13 ============ Isa 29:13 Then the Lord said, "Because this people draw near with their words And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote, (nas) Isa 29:13 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ἐγγίζει μοι ὁ λαὸς οὗτος τοῖς χείλεσιν αὐτῶν τιμῶσίν με ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτῶν πόρρω ἀπέχει ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με διδάσκοντες ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων καὶ διδασκαλίας (lxx) Isa 29:13 Et dixit Dominus: Eo quod appropinquat populus iste ore suo, et labiis suis glorificat me, cor autem ejus longe est a me, et timuerunt me mandato hominum et doctrinis,(vulgate) Isaiah 29:13 Therefore the Lord sayd, Because this people come neere vnto me with their mouth, and honour me with their lips, but haue remooued their heart farre from me, and their feare toward me was taught by the precept of men,(Geneva) Isa 29:13 Und der HERR spricht: Darum daß dies Volk zu mir naht mit seinem Munde und mit seinen Lippen mich ehrt, aber ihr Herz fern von mir ist und sie mich fürchten nach Menschengeboten, die sie lehren:(dhs) Isa 29:13 Therefore the Lord said: "Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:14 ============ Isa 29:14 Therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous; And the wisdom of their wise men will perish, And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed."(nas) Isa 29:14 διὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ προσθήσω τοῦ μεταθεῖναι τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον καὶ μεταθήσω αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀπολῶ τὴν σοφίαν τῶν σοφῶν καὶ τὴν σύνεσιν τῶν συνετῶν κρύψω (lxx) Isa 29:14 ideo ecce ego addam ut admirationem faciam populo huic miraculo grandi et stupendo; peribit enim sapientia a sapientibus ejus, et intellectus prudentium ejus abscondetur.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:14 Therefore behold, I wil againe doe a marueilous worke in this people, euen a marueilous worke, and a wonder: for the wisdome of their wise men shall perish, and the vnderstanding of their prudent men shalbe hid.(Geneva) Isa 29:14 so will ich auch mit diesem Volk wunderlich umgehen, aufs wunderlichste und seltsamste, daß die Weisheit seiner Weisen untergehe und der Verstand seiner Klugen verblendet werde.(dhs) Isa 29:14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:15 ============ Isa 29:15 Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the Lord, And whose deeds are done in a dark place, And they say, "Who sees us?" or "Who knows us?"(nas) Isa 29:15 οὐαὶ οἱ βαθέως βουλὴν ποιοῦντες καὶ οὐ διὰ κυρίου οὐαὶ οἱ ἐν κρυφῇ βουλὴν ποιοῦντες καὶ ἔσται ἐν σκότει τὰ ἔργα αὐτῶν καὶ ἐροῦσιν τίς ἡμᾶς ἑώρακεν καὶ τίς ἡμᾶς γνώσεται ἢ ἃ ἡμεῖς ποιοῦμεν (lxx) Isa 29:15 Væ qui profundi estis corde, ut a Domino abscondatis consilium; quorum sunt in tenebris opera, et dicunt: Quis videt nos? et quis novit nos?(vulgate) Isaiah 29:15 Wo vnto them that seeke deepe to hide their counsell from the Lorde: for their workes are in darkenes, and they say, Who seeth vs? and who knoweth vs?(Geneva) Isa 29:15 Weh, die verborgen sein wollen vor dem HERRN, ihr Vornehmen zu verhehlen, und ihr Tun im Finstern halten und sprechen: Wer sieht uns, und wer kennt uns?(dhs) Isa 29:15 Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, And their works are in the dark; They say, "Who sees us?" and, "Who knows us?"(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:16 ============ Isa 29:16 You turn things around! Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, That what is made would say to its maker, "He did not make me"; Or what is formed say to him who formed it, "He has no understanding"? (nas) Isa 29:16 οὐχ ὡς ὁ πηλὸς τοῦ κεραμέως λογισθήσεσθε μὴ ἐρεῖ τὸ πλάσμα τῷ πλάσαντι οὐ σύ με ἔπλασας ἢ τὸ ποίημα τῷ ποιήσαντι οὐ συνετῶς με ἐποίησας (lxx) Isa 29:16 Perversa est hæc vestra cogitatio; quasi si lutum contra figulum cogitet, et dicat opus factori suo: Non fecisti me; et figmentum dicat fictori suo: Non intelligis.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:16 Your turning of deuises shal it not be esteemed as the potters clay? for shall the worke say of him that made it, Hee made me not? or the thing formed, say of him that facioned it, He had none vnderstanding?(Geneva) Isa 29:16 Wie seid ihr so verkehrt! Gleich als wenn des Töpfers Ton gedächte und ein Werk spräche von seinem Meister: Er hat mich nicht gemacht! und ein Gemächte spräche von seinem Töpfer: Er kennt mich nicht!(dhs) Isa 29:16 Surely you have things turned around! Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it, "He has no understanding"?(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:17 ============ Isa 29:17 Is it not yet just a little while Before Lebanon will be turned into a fertile field, And the fertile field will be considered as a forest? (nas) Isa 29:17 οὐκέτι μικρὸν καὶ μετατεθήσεται ὁ Λίβανος ὡς τὸ ὄρος τὸ Χερμελ καὶ τὸ ὄρος τὸ Χερμελ εἰς δρυμὸν λογισθήσεται (lxx) Isa 29:17 Nonne adhuc in modico et in brevi convertetur Libanus in carmel, et carmel in saltum reputabitur?(vulgate) Isaiah 29:17 Is it not yet but a litle while, and Lebanon shall be turned into Carmel? and Carmel shall be counted as a forest?(Geneva) Isa 29:17 Wohlan, es ist noch um ein klein wenig zu tun, so soll der Libanon ein Feld werden, und das Feld soll wie ein Wald geachtet werden.(dhs) Isa 29:17 Is it not yet a very little while Till Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, And the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest?(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:18 ============ Isa 29:18 On that day the deaf will hear words of a book, And out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see. (nas) Isa 29:18 καὶ ἀκούσονται ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ κωφοὶ λόγους βιβλίου καὶ οἱ ἐν τῷ σκότει καὶ οἱ ἐν τῇ ὁμίχλῃ ὀφθαλμοὶ τυφλῶν βλέψονται (lxx) Isa 29:18 Et audient in die illa surdi verba libri, et de tenebris et caligine oculi cæcorum videbunt.(vulgate) Isaiah 29:18 And in that day shall the deafe heare the wordes of the booke, and the eyes of the blinde shall see out of obscuritie, and out of darkenesse.(Geneva) Isa 29:18 Und zu derselben Zeit werden die Tauben hören die Worte des Buches, und die Augen der Blinden werden aus Dunkel und Finsternis sehen,(dhs) Isa 29:18 In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 29:19 ============ Isa 29:19 The afflicted also will increase their gladness in the Lord, And the needy of mankind will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
