And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:2 ============ Gen 16:2 So Sarai said to Abram, "Now behold, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Please go in to my maid; perhaps I will obtain children through her." And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.(nasb) Gen 16:2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.(kjv) Gen 16:2 So Sarai said to Abram, "See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her." I gave my maid into your arms, but when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her sight. May the Lord judge between you and me."(nasb) Gen 16:5 And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.(kjv) Gen 16:5 Then Sarai said to Abram, "My wrong be upon you! I gave my maid into your embrace; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became despised in her eyes. The Lord judge between you and me."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:6 ============ Gen 16:6 But Abram said to Sarai, "Behold, your maid is in your power; do to her what is good in your sight." So Sarai treated her harshly, and she fled from her presence.(nasb) Gen 16:6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thine hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.(kjv) Gen 16:6 So Abram said to Sarai, "Indeed your maid is in your hand; do to her as you please." She said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:9 ============ Gen 16:9 Then the angel of the Lord said to her, "Return to your mistress, and submit yourself to her authority."(nasb) Gen 16:9 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.(kjv) Gen 16:9 The Angel of the Lord said to her, "Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:10 ============ Gen 16:10 Moreover, the angel of the Lord said to her, "I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be too many to count."(nasb) Gen 16:10 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.(kjv) Gen 16:10 Then the Angel of the Lord said to her, "I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:11 ============ Gen 16:11 The angel of the Lord said to her further, "Behold, you are with child, And you will bear a son; And you shall call his name Ishmael, Because the Lord has given heed to your affliction.(nasb) Gen 16:11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.(kjv) Gen 16:11 And the Angel of the Lord said to her: "Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, Because the Lord has heard your affliction.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:12 ============ Gen 16:12 "He will be a wild donkey of a man, His hand will be against everyone, And everyone's hand will be against him; And he will live to the east of all his brothers."(nasb) Gen 16:12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.(kjv) Gen 16:12 He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against every man, And every man's hand against him.
