And behold I saw the tears of the oppressed and that they had no one to comfort them; and on the side of their oppressors was power, but they had no one to comfort them. (nasb) Ecc 4:1 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.(kjv) Ecl 4:1 Then I returned and considered all the oppression that is done under the sun: And look! This too is vanity and striving after wind. (nasb) Ecc 4:4 Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.(kjv) Ecl 4:4 Again, I saw that for all toil and every skillful work a man is envied by his neighbor. Indeed, his eyes were not satisfied with riches and he never asked, "And for whom am I laboring and depriving myself of pleasure?" This too is vanity and it is a grievous task. (nasb) Ecc 4:8 There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a sore travail.(kjv) Ecl 4:8 There is one alone, without companion: He has neither son nor brother. Yet there is no end to all his labors, Nor is his eye satisfied with riches. But he never asks, "For whom do I toil and deprive myself of good?" This also is vanity and a grave misfortune.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 4:9 ============ Ecl 4:9 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart. (nasb) Ecc 4:12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.(kjv) Ecl 4:12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 4:13 ============ Ecl 4:13 A poor yet wise lad is better than an old and foolish king who no longer knows how to receive instruction. (nasb) Ecc 4:13 Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished.(kjv) Ecl 4:13 Better a poor and wise youth Than an old and foolish king who will be admonished no more.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 4:14 ============ Ecl 4:14 For he has come out of prison to become king, even though he was born poor in his kingdom. (nasb) Ecc 4:15 I considered all the living which walk under the sun, with the second child that shall stand up in his stead.(kjv) Ecl 4:15 I saw all the living who walk under the sun; They were with the second youth who stands in his place.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 4:16 ============ Ecl 4:16 There is no end to all the people, to all who were before them, and even the ones who will come later will not be happy with him, for this too is vanity and striving after wind. (nasb) Ecc 4:16 There is no end of all the people, even of all that have been before them: they also that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and vexation of spirit.(kjv) Ecl 4:16 There was no end of all the people over whom he was made king; Yet those who come afterward will not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and grasping for the wind.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 5:1 ============ Ecl 5:1 Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil.
