Wail, O ships of Tarshish, For Tyre is destroyed, without house or harbor; It is reported to them from the land of Cyprus. (nasb) Isa 23:1 The burden of Tyre. The grain of the Nile, the harvest of the River was her revenue; And she was the market of nations. (nasb) Isa 23:3 And by great waters the seed of Sihor, the harvest of the river, is her revenue; and she is a mart of nations.(kjv) Isa 23:3 And on great waters the grain of Shihor, The harvest of the River, is her revenue; And she is a marketplace for the nations.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 23:4 ============ Isa 23:4 Be ashamed, O Sidon; For the sea speaks, the stronghold of the sea, saying, "I have neither travailed nor given birth, I have neither brought up young men nor reared virgins."(nasb) Isa 23:4 Be thou ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I travail not, nor bring forth children, neither do I nourish up young men, nor bring up virgins.(kjv) Isa 23:4 Be ashamed, O Sidon; For the sea has spoken, The strength of the sea, saying, "I do not labor, nor bring forth children; Neither do I rear young men, Nor bring up virgins.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 23:5 ============ Isa 23:5 When the report reaches Egypt, They will be in anguish at the report of Tyre. Arise, pass over to Cyprus; even there you will find no rest."(nasb) Isa 23:12 And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin, daughter of Zidon: arise, pass over to Chittim; there also shalt thou have no rest.(kjv) Isa 23:12 And He said, "You will rejoice no more, O you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, cross over to Cyprus; There also you will have no rest."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 23:13 ============ Isa 23:13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans--this is the people which was not; Assyria appointed it for desert creatures--they erected their siege towers, they stripped its palaces, they made it a ruin. (nasb) Isa 23:13 Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.(kjv) Isa 23:13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans, This people which was not; Assyria founded it for wild beasts of the desert. For your strength is laid waste(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 23:15 ============ Isa 23:15 Now in that day Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years like the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the harlot: (nasb) Isa 23:15 And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an harlot.(kjv) Isa 23:15 Now it shall come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the harlot:(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 23:16 ============ Isa 23:16 Take your harp, walk about the city, O forgotten harlot; Pluck the strings skillfully, sing many songs, That you may be remembered. (nasb) Isa 23:16 Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.(kjv) Isa 23:16 "Take a harp, go about the city, You forgotten harlot; Make sweet melody, sing many songs, That you may be remembered."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 23:17 ============ Isa 23:17 It will come about at the end of seventy years that the Lord will visit Tyre. Then she will go back to her harlot's wages and will play the harlot with all the kingdoms on the face of the earth. (nasb) Isa 23:17 And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.(kjv) Isa 23:17 And it shall be, at the end of seventy years, that the Lord will visit Tyre. She will return to her hire, and commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 23:18 ============ Isa 23:18 Her gain and her harlot's wages will be set apart to the Lord; it will not be stored up or hoarded, but her gain will become sufficient food and choice attire for those who dwell in the presence of the Lord. (nasb) Isa 23:18 And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.(kjv) Isa 23:18 Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the Lord; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the Lord, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:1 ============ Isa 24:1 Behold, the Lord lays the earth waste, devastates it, distorts its surface and scatters its inhabitants.
