(nasb) Eze 17:3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:(kjv) Eze 17:3 and say, 'Thus says the Lord God: "A great eagle with large wings and long pinions, Full of feathers of various colors, Came to Lebanon And took from the cedar the highest branch.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:4 ============ Eze 17:4 He plucked off the topmost of its young twigs and brought it to a land of merchants; he set it in a city of traders. (nasb) Eze 17:4 He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.(kjv) Eze 17:4 He cropped off its topmost young twig And carried it to a land of trade; He set it in a city of merchants.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:5 ============ Eze 17:5 He also took some of the seed of the land and planted it in fertile soil. He placed it beside abundant waters; he set it like a willow. So it became a vine and yielded shoots and sent out branches. (nasb) Eze 17:6 And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.(kjv) Eze 17:6 And it grew and became a spreading vine of low stature; Its branches turned toward him, But its roots were under it. So it became a vine, Brought forth branches, And put forth shoots.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:7 ============ Eze 17:7 "But there was another great eagle with great wings and much plumage; and behold, this vine bent its roots toward him and sent out its branches toward him from the beds where it was planted, that he might water it. (nasb) Eze 17:7 There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.(kjv) Eze 17:7 "But there was another great eagle with large wings and many feathers; And behold, this vine bent its roots toward him, And stretched its branches toward him, From the garden terrace where it had been planted, That he might water it.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:8 ============ Eze 17:8 It was planted in good soil beside abundant waters, that it might yield branches and bear fruit and become a splendid vine."'(nasb) Eze 17:8 It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.(kjv) Eze 17:8 It was planted in good soil by many waters, To bring forth branches, bear fruit, And become a majestic vine." '(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:9 ============ Eze 17:9 Say, 'Thus says the Lord God, "Will it thrive? Will he not pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, so that it withers--so that all its sprouting leaves wither? And neither by great strength nor by many people can it be raised from its roots again. (nasb) Eze 17:9 Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.(kjv) Eze 17:9 "Say, 'Thus says the Lord God: "Will it thrive? Will he not pull up its roots, Cut off its fruit, And leave it to wither? All of its spring leaves will wither, And no great power or many people Will be needed to pluck it up by its roots.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:10 ============ Eze 17:10 Behold, though it is planted, will it thrive? Will it not completely wither as soon as the east wind strikes it--wither on the beds where it grew?"'" (nasb) Eze 17:10 Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.(kjv) Eze 17:10 Behold, it is planted, Will it thrive? Will it not utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the garden terrace where it grew." Say, 'Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, took its king and princes and brought them to him in Babylon. (nasb) Eze 17:12 Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;(kjv) Eze 17:12 "Say now to the rebellious house: 'Do you not know what these things mean?' Tell them, 'Indeed the king of Babylon went to Jerusalem and took its king and princes, and led them with him to Babylon.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:13 ============ Eze 17:13 He took one of the royal family and made a covenant with him, putting him under oath. He also took away the mighty of the land, (nasb) Eze 17:13 And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:(kjv) Eze 17:13 And he took the king's offspring, made a covenant with him, and put him under oath. He also took away the mighty of the land,(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:14 ============ Eze 17:14 that the kingdom might be in subjection, not exalting itself, but keeping his covenant that it might continue. (nasb) Eze 17:14 That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.(kjv) Eze 17:14 that the kingdom might be brought low and not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:15 ============ Eze 17:15 But he rebelled against him by sending his envoys to Egypt that they might give him horses and many troops. Will he succeed? Will he who does such things escape? Can he indeed break the covenant and escape? (nasb) Eze 17:15 But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?(kjv) Eze 17:15 But he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors to Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Can he break a covenant and still be delivered?(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:16 ============ Eze 17:16 As I live,' declares the Lord God, 'Surely in the country of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke, in Babylon he shall die. (nasb) Eze 17:16 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.(kjv) Eze 17:16 As I live,' says the Lord God, 'surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke--with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:17 ============ Eze 17:17 Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company will not help him in the war, when they cast up ramps and build siege walls to cut off many lives. (nasb) Eze 17:17 Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:(kjv) Eze 17:17 Nor will Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company do anything in the war, when they heap up a siege mound and build a wall to cut off many persons.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:18 ============ Eze 17:18 Now he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, and behold, he pledged his allegiance, yet did all these things; he shall not escape.'"(nasb) Eze 17:18 Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.(kjv) Eze 17:18 Since he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, and in fact gave his hand and still did all these things, he shall not escape.' (nasb) Eze 17:19 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.(kjv) Eze 17:19 Therefore thus says the Lord God: "As I live, surely My oath which he despised, and My covenant which he broke, I will recompense on his own head.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:20 ============ Eze 17:20 I will spread My net over him, and he will be caught in My snare. Then I will bring him to Babylon and enter into judgment with him there regarding the unfaithful act which he has committed against Me. (nasb) Eze 17:20 And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.(kjv) Eze 17:20 I will spread My net over him, and he shall be taken in My snare. I will bring him to Babylon and try him there for the treason which he committed against Me.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:21 ============ Eze 17:21 All the choice men in all his troops will fall by the sword, and the survivors will be scattered to every wind; and you will know that I, the Lord, have spoken."(nasb) Eze 17:21 And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.(kjv) Eze 17:21 All his fugitives with all his troops shall fall by the sword, and those who remain shall be scattered to every wind; and you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken."(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:22 ============ Eze 17:22 Thus says the Lord God, "I will also take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar and set it out; I will pluck from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain. (nasb) Eze 17:22 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:(kjv) Eze 17:22 Thus says the Lord God: "I will take also one of the highest branches of the high cedar and set it out. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and will plant it on a high and prominent mountain.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:23 ============ Eze 17:23 On the high mountain of Israel I will plant it, that it may bring forth boughs and bear fruit and become a stately cedar. And birds of every kind will nest under it; they will nest in the shade of its branches. (nasb) Eze 17:23 In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.(kjv) Eze 17:23 On the mountain height of Israel I will plant it; and it will bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a majestic cedar. Under it will dwell birds of every sort; in the shadow of its branches they will dwell.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 17:24 ============ Eze 17:24 All the trees of the field will know that I am the Lord; I bring down the high tree, exalt the low tree, dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish. I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will perform it."
