A Contemplation of the sons of Korah. As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:2 ============ Psa 42:2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God?(nasb-1995) Psa 42:2 ὃν τρόπον ἐπιποθεῖ ἡ ἔλαφος ἐπὶ τὰς πηγὰς τῶν ὑδάτων οὕτως ἐπιποθεῖ ἡ ψυχή μου πρὸς σέ ὁ θεός (lxx) Psa 42:2 [Vulgate 41:3] sitivit anima mea Deum fortem viventem quando veniam et parebo ante faciem tuam(Vulgate) Psa 42:2 Meine Seele dürstet nach Gott, nach dem lebendigen Gott. Wann werde ich dahin kommen, daß ich Gottes Angesicht schaue?(dhs) 3 ׃42 צָמְאָ֬ה נַפְשִׁ֨י ׀ לֵאלֹהִים֮ לְאֵ֢ל חָ֥י מָתַ֥י אָב֑וֹא וְ֝אֵרָאֶ֗ה פְּנֵ֣י אֱלֹהִֽים׃ Psalms-(Hebrew) Psa 42:2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:3 ============ Psa 42:3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"(nasb-1995) Psa 42:3 ἐδίψησεν ἡ ψυχή μου πρὸς τὸν θεὸν τὸν ζῶντα πότε ἥξω καὶ ὀφθήσομαι τῷ προσώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ (lxx) Psa 42:3 [Vulgate 41:4] fuerunt mihi lacrimae meae panis per diem ac noctem cum diceretur mihi tota die ubi est Deus tuus(Vulgate) Psa 42:3 Meine Tränen sind meine Speise Tag und Nacht, weil man täglich zu mir sagt: Wo ist nun dein Gott?(dhs) 4 ׃42 הָֽיְתָה־לִּ֬י דִמְעָתִ֣י לֶ֭חֶם יוֹמָ֣ם וָלָ֑יְלָה בֶּאֱמֹ֥ר אֵלַ֥י כָּל־הַ֝יּ֗וֹם אַיֵּ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ Psalms-(Hebrew) Psa 42:3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, "Where is your God?"(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:4 ============ Psa 42:4 These things I remember and I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go along with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God, With the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival. (nasb-1995) Psa 42:4 ἐγενήθη μοι τὰ δάκρυά μου ἄρτος ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτὸς ἐν τῷ λέγεσθαί μοι καθ᾽ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ θεός σου (lxx) Psa 42:4 [Vulgate 41:5] horum recordatus sum et effudi in me animam meam quia veniam ad umbraculum tacebo usque ad domum Dei in voce laudis et confessionis multitudinis festa celebrantis(Vulgate) Psa 42:4 Wenn ich des innewerde, so schütte ich mein Herz aus bei mir selbst; denn ich wollte gerne hingehen mit dem Haufen und mit ihnen wallen zum Hause Gottes mit Frohlocken und Danken unter dem Haufen derer, die da feiern.(dhs) 5 ׃42 אֵ֤לֶּה אֶזְכְּרָ֨ה ׀ וְאֶשְׁפְּכָ֬ה עָלַ֨י ׀ נַפְשִׁ֗י כִּ֤י אֶֽעֱבֹ֨ר ׀ בַּסָּךְ֮ אֶדַּדֵּ֗ם עַד־בֵּ֥ית אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים בְּקוֹל־רִנָּ֥ה וְתוֹדָ֗ה הָמ֥וֹן חוֹגֵֽג׃ Psalms-(Hebrew) Psa 42:4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:5 ============ Psa 42:5 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence. (nasb-1995) Psa 42:5 ταῦτα ἐμνήσθην καὶ ἐξέχεα ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ τὴν ψυχήν μου ὅτι διελεύσομαι ἐν τόπῳ σκηνῆς θαυμαστῆς ἕως τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν φωνῇ ἀγαλλιάσεως καὶ ἐξομολογήσεως ἤχου ἑορτάζοντος (lxx) Psa 42:5 [Vulgate 41:6] quare incurvaris anima mea et conturbas me expecta Dominum quia adhuc confitebor ei salutaribus vultus eius(Vulgate) Psa 42:5 Was betrübst du dich, meine Seele, und bist so unruhig in mir? Harre auf Gott! denn ich werde ihm noch danken, daß er mir hilft mit seinem Angesicht.(dhs) 6 ׃42 מַה־תִּשְׁתּ֬וֹחֲחִ֨י ׀ נַפְשִׁי֮ וַתֶּהֱמִ֢י עָ֫לָ֥י הוֹחִ֣ילִי לֵֽ֭אלֹהִים כִּי־ע֥וֹד אוֹדֶ֗נּוּ יְשׁוּע֥וֹת פָּנָֽיו׃ Psalms-(Hebrew) Psa 42:5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:6 ============ Psa 42:6 O my God, my soul is in despair within me; Therefore I remember You from the land of the Jordan And the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. (nasb-1995) Psa 42:6 ἵνα τί περίλυπος εἶ ψυχή καὶ ἵνα τί συνταράσσεις με ἔλπισον ἐπὶ τὸν θεόν ὅτι ἐξομολογήσομαι αὐτῷ σωτήριον τοῦ προσώπου μου ὁ θεός μου (lxx) Psa 42:6 [Vulgate 41:7] Deus meus in memet ipso anima mea incurvatur propterea recordabor tui de terra Iordanis et Hermoniim de monte minimo(Vulgate) Psa 42:6 Mein Gott, betrübt ist meine Seele in mir; darum gedenke ich an dich im Lande am Jordan und Hermonim, auf dem kleinen Berg.(dhs) 7 ׃42 אֱֽלֹהַ֗י עָלַי֮ נַפְשִׁ֢י תִשְׁתּ֫וֹחָ֥ח עַל־כֵּ֗ן אֶ֭זְכָּרְךָ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ יַרְדֵּ֑ן וְ֝חֶרְמוֹנִ֗ים מֵהַ֥ר מִצְעָֽר׃ Psalms-(Hebrew) Psa 42:6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me; Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, And from the heights of Hermon, From the Hill Mizar.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:7 ============ Psa 42:7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me. (nasb-1995) Psa 42:7 πρὸς ἐμαυτὸν ἡ ψυχή μου ἐταράχθη διὰ τοῦτο μνησθήσομαί σου ἐκ γῆς Ιορδάνου καὶ Ερμωνιιμ ἀπὸ ὄρους μικροῦ (lxx) Psa 42:7 [Vulgate 41:8] abyssus abyssum vocat in voce cataractarum tuarum omnes gurgites tui et fluctus tui super me transierunt(Vulgate) Psa 42:7 Deine Fluten rauschen daher, daß hier eine Tiefe und da eine Tiefe brausen; alle deine Wasserwogen und Wellen gehen über mich.(dhs) 8 ׃42 תְּהֽוֹם־אֶל־תְּה֣וֹם ק֭וֹרֵא לְק֣וֹל צִנּוֹרֶ֑יךָ כָּֽל־מִשְׁבָּרֶ֥יךָ וְ֝גַלֶּ֗יךָ עָלַ֥י עָבָֽרוּ׃ Psalms-(Hebrew) Psa 42:7 Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:8 ============ Psa 42:8 The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, A prayer to the God of my life. (nasb-1995) Psa 42:8 ἄβυσσος ἄβυσσον ἐπικαλεῖται εἰς φωνὴν τῶν καταρρακτῶν σου πάντες οἱ μετεωρισμοί σου καὶ τὰ κύματά σου ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ διῆλθον (lxx) Psa 42:8 [Vulgate 41:9] per diem mandavit Dominus misericordiam suam et in nocte canticum eius mecum oratio Deo vitae meae(Vulgate) Psa 42:8 Der HERR hat des Tages verheißen seine Güte, und des Nachts singe ich ihm und bete zu dem Gott meines Lebens.(dhs) 9 ׃42 יוֹמָ֤ם ׀ יְצַוֶּ֬ה יְהוָ֨ה ׀ חַסְדּ֗וֹ וּ֖[d]בַלַּיְלָה *שירה **שִׁיר֣וֹ עִמִּ֑י תְּ֝פִלָּ֗ה לְאֵ֣ל חַיָּֽי׃ Psalms-(Hebrew) Psa 42:8 The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me-- A prayer to the God of my life.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:9 ============ Psa 42:9 I will say to God my rock, "Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"(nasb-1995) Psa 42:9 ἡμέρας ἐντελεῖται κύριος τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ καὶ νυκτὸς ᾠδὴ παρ᾽ ἐμοί προσευχὴ τῷ θεῷ τῆς ζωῆς μου (lxx) Psa 42:9 [Vulgate 41:10] dicam Deo petra mea quare oblitus es mei quare tristis incedo adfligente inimico(Vulgate) Psa 42:9 Ich sage zu Gott, meinem Fels: Warum hast du mein vergessen? Warum muß ich so traurig gehen, wenn mein Feind mich drängt?(dhs) 10 ׃42 אוֹמְרָ֤ה ׀ לְאֵ֥ל סַלְעִי֮ לָמָ֢ה שְׁכַ֫חְתָּ֥נִי לָֽמָּה־קֹדֵ֥ר אֵלֵ֗ךְ בְּלַ֣חַץ אוֹיֵֽב׃ Psalms-(Hebrew) Psa 42:9 I will say to God my Rock, "Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:10 ============ Psa 42:10 As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries revile me, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"(nasb-1995) Psa 42:10 ἐρῶ τῷ θεῷ ἀντιλήμπτωρ μου εἶ διὰ τί μου ἐπελάθου ἵνα τί σκυθρωπάζων πορεύομαι ἐν τῷ ἐκθλίβειν τὸν ἐχθρόν μου (lxx) Psa 42:10 [Vulgate 41:11] cum me interficerent in ossibus meis exprobraverunt mihi hostes mei dicentes tota die ubi est Deus tuus(Vulgate) Psa 42:10 Es ist als ein Mord in meinen Gebeinen, daß mich meine Feinde schmähen, wenn sie täglich zu mir sagen: Wo ist nun dein Gott?(dhs) 11 ׃42 בְּרֶ֤צַח ׀ בְּֽעַצְמוֹתַ֗י חֵרְפ֥וּנִי צוֹרְרָ֑י בְּאָמְרָ֥ם אֵלַ֥י כָּל־הַ֝יּ֗וֹם אַיֵּ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ Psalms-(Hebrew) Psa 42:10 As with a breaking of my bones, My enemies reproach me, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"(nkjv) ======= Psalm 42:11 ============ Psa 42:11 Why are you in despair, O my soul?
