(nasb-1995) Hos 12:1 ὁ δὲ Εφραιμ πονηρὸν πνεῦμα ἐδίωξεν καύσωνα ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν κενὰ καὶ μάταια ἐπλήθυνεν καὶ διαθήκην μετὰ Ἀσσυρίων διέθετο καὶ ἔλαιον εἰς Αἴγυπτον ἐνεπορεύετο (lxx) Hos 12:1 [Ephraim pascit ventum, et sequitur æstum; tota die mendacium et vastitatem multiplicat: et fœdus cum Assyriis iniit, et oleum in Ægyptum ferebat.(Vulgate) Hos 12:1 Ephraim weidet sich am Winde und läuft dem Ostwind nach und macht täglich der Abgötterei und des Schadens mehr; sie machen mit Assur einen Bund und bringen Balsam nach Ägypten.(dhs) 2 ׃12 אֶפְרַ֜יִם רֹעֶ֥ה ר֙וּחַ֙ וְרֹדֵ֣ף קָדִ֔ים כָּל־הַיּ֕וֹם כָּזָ֥ב וָשֹׁ֖ד יַרְבֶּ֑ה וּבְרִית֙ עִם־אַשּׁ֣וּר יִכְרֹ֔תוּ וְשֶׁ֖מֶן לְמִצְרַ֥יִם יוּבָֽל׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:1 "Ephraim feeds on the wind, And pursues the east wind; He daily increases lies and desolation. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:2 καὶ κρίσις τῷ κυρίῳ πρὸς Ιουδαν τοῦ ἐκδικῆσαι τὸν Ιακωβ κατὰ τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ κατὰ τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα αὐτοῦ ἀνταποδώσει αὐτῷ (lxx) Hos 12:2 Judicium ergo Domini cum Juda, et visitatio super Jacob: juxta vias ejus, et juxta adinventiones ejus reddet ei.(Vulgate) Hos 12:2 Darum wird der HERR mit Juda rechten und Jakob heimsuchen nach seinem Wesen und ihm vergelten nach seinem Verdienst.(dhs) 3 ׃12 וְרִ֥יב לַֽיהוָ֖ה עִם־יְהוּדָ֑ה וְלִפְקֹ֤ד עַֽל־יַעֲקֹב֙ כִּדְרָכָ֔יו כְּמַעֲלָלָ֖יו יָשִׁ֥יב לֽוֹ׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:2 "The Lord also brings a charge against Judah, And will punish Jacob according to his ways; According to his deeds He will recompense him.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:3 ============ Hos 12:3 In the womb he took his brother by the heel, And in his maturity he contended with God. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:3 ἐν τῇ κοιλίᾳ ἐπτέρνισεν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν κόποις αὐτοῦ ἐνίσχυσεν πρὸς θεὸν (lxx) Hos 12:3 In utero supplantavit fratrem suum, et in fortitudine sua directus est cum angelo.(Vulgate) Hos 12:3 Er hat in Mutterleibe seinen Bruder an der Ferse gehalten, und in seiner Kraft hat er mit Gott gekämpft.(dhs) 4 ׃12 בַּבֶּ֖טֶן עָקַ֣ב אֶת־אָחִ֑יו וּבְאוֹנ֖וֹ שָׂרָ֥ה אֶת־אֱלֹהִֽים׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, And in his strength he struggled with God.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:4 ============ Hos 12:4 Yes, he wrestled with the angel and prevailed; He wept and sought His favor. He found Him at Bethel And there He spoke with us, (nasb-1995) Hos 12:4 καὶ ἐνίσχυσεν μετὰ ἀγγέλου καὶ ἠδυνάσθη ἔκλαυσαν καὶ ἐδεήθησάν μου ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Ων εὕροσάν με καὶ ἐκεῖ ἐλαλήθη πρὸς αὐτόν (lxx) Hos 12:4 Et invaluit ad angelum, et confortatus est; flevit, et rogavit eum. In Bethel invenit eum, et ibi locutus est nobiscum.(Vulgate) Hos 12:4 Er kämpfte mit dem Engel und siegte, denn er weinte und bat ihn; auch hat er ihn ja zu Beth-El gefunden, und daselbst hat er mit uns geredet.(dhs) 5 ׃12 וַיָּ֤שַׂר אֶל־מַלְאָךְ֙ וַיֻּכָ֔ל בָּכָ֖ה וַיִּתְחַנֶּן־ל֑וֹ בֵּֽית־אֵל֙ יִמְצָאֶ֔נּוּ וְשָׁ֖ם יְדַבֵּ֥ר עִמָּֽנוּ׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:4 Yes, he struggled with the Angel and prevailed; He wept, and sought favor from Him. He found Him in Bethel, And there He spoke to us--(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:5 ============ Hos 12:5 Even the Lord, the God of hosts, The Lord is His name. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:5 ὁ δὲ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ ἔσται μνημόσυνον αὐτοῦ (lxx) Hos 12:5 Et Dominus Deus exercituum, Dominus memoriale ejus.(Vulgate) Hos 12:5 Aber der HERR ist der Gott Zebaoth; HERR ist sein Name.(dhs) 6 ׃12 וַֽיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י הַצְּבָא֑וֹת יְהוָ֖ה זִכְרֽוֹ׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:5 That is, the Lord God of hosts. The Lord is His memorable name.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:6 ============ Hos 12:6 Therefore, return to your God, Observe kindness and justice, And wait for your God continually. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:6 καὶ σὺ ἐν θεῷ σου ἐπιστρέψεις ἔλεον καὶ κρίμα φυλάσσου καὶ ἔγγιζε πρὸς τὸν θεόν σου διὰ παντός (lxx) Hos 12:6 Et tu ad Deum tuum converteris; misericordiam et judicium custodi, et spera in Deo tuo semper.(Vulgate) Hos 12:6 So bekehre dich nun zu deinem Gott, und halte Barmherzigkeit und Recht und hoffe stets auf deinen Gott.(dhs) 7 ׃12 וְאַתָּ֖ה בֵּאלֹהֶ֣יךָ תָשׁ֑וּב חֶ֤סֶד וּמִשְׁפָּט֙ שְׁמֹ֔ר וְקַוֵּ֥ה אֶל־אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ תָּמִֽיד׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:6 So you, by the help of your God, return; Observe mercy and justice, And wait on your God continually.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:7 ============ Hos 12:7 A merchant, in whose hands are false balances, He loves to oppress. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:7 Χανααν ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ ζυγὸς ἀδικίας καταδυναστεύειν ἠγάπησε (lxx) Hos 12:7 Chanaan, in manu ejus statera dolosa, calumniam dilexit.(Vulgate) Hos 12:7 Aber Kanaan hat eine falsche Waage in seiner Hand und betrügt gern.(dhs) 8 ׃12 כְּנַ֗עַן בְּיָד֛וֹ מֹאזְנֵ֥י מִרְמָ֖ה לַעֲשֹׁ֥ק אָהֵֽב׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:7 "A cunning Canaanite! Deceitful scales are in his hand; He loves to oppress.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:8 ============ Hos 12:8 And Ephraim said, "Surely I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself; In all my labors they will find in me No iniquity, which would be sin."(nasb-1995) Hos 12:8 καὶ εἶπεν Εφραιμ πλὴν πεπλούτηκα εὕρηκα ἀναψυχὴν ἐμαυτῷ πάντες οἱ πόνοι αὐτοῦ οὐχ εὑρεθήσονται αὐτῷ δι᾽ ἀδικίας ἃς ἥμαρτεν (lxx) Hos 12:8 Et dixit Ephraim: Verumtamen dives effectus sum; inveni idolum mihi: omnes labores mei non invenient mihi iniquitatem quam peccavi.(Vulgate) Hos 12:8 Und Ephraim spricht: Ich bin reich, ich habe genug; man wird in aller meiner Arbeit keine Missetat finden, die Sünde sei.(dhs) 9 ׃12 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶפְרַ֔יִם אַ֣ךְ עָשַׁ֔רְתִּי מָצָ֥אתִי א֖וֹן לִ֑י כָּל־יְגִיעַ֕י לֹ֥א יִמְצְאוּ־לִ֖י עָוֺ֥ן אֲשֶׁר־חֵֽטְא׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:8 And Ephraim said, 'Surely I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself; In all my labors They shall find in me no iniquity that is sin.'(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:9 ============ Hos 12:9 But I have been the Lord your God since the land of Egypt; I will make you live in tents again, As in the days of the appointed festival. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:9 ἐγὼ δὲ κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἀνήγαγόν σε ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ἔτι κατοικιῶ σε ἐν σκηναῖς καθὼς ἡμέρᾳ ἑορτῆς (lxx) Hos 12:9 Et ego Dominus Deus tuus ex terra Ægypti: adhuc sedere te faciam in tabernaculis, sicut in diebus festivitatis.(Vulgate) Hos 12:9 Ich aber, der HERR, bin dein Gott aus Ägyptenland her, und der dich noch in den Hütten wohnen läßt, wie man zur Festzeit pflegt,(dhs) 10 ׃12 וְאָנֹכִ֛י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם עֹ֛ד אוֹשִֽׁיבְךָ֥ בָ[t]אֳהָלִ֖ים כִּימֵ֥י מוֹעֵֽד׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:9 "But I am the Lord your God, Ever since the land of Egypt; I will again make you dwell in tents, As in the days of the appointed feast.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:10 ============ Hos 12:10 I have also spoken to the prophets, And I gave numerous visions, And through the prophets I gave parables. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:10 καὶ λαλήσω πρὸς προφήτας καὶ ἐγὼ ὁράσεις ἐπλήθυνα καὶ ἐν χερσὶν προφητῶν ὡμοιώθην (lxx) Hos 12:10 Et locutus sum super prophetas, et ego visionem multiplicavi, et in manu prophetarum assimilatus sum.(Vulgate) Hos 12:10 und rede zu den Propheten; und ich bin's, der so viel Weissagung gibt und durch die Propheten sich anzeigt.(dhs) 11 ׃12 וְדִבַּ֙רְתִּי֙ עַל־הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים וְאָנֹכִ֖י חָז֣וֹן הִרְבֵּ֑יתִי וּבְיַ֥ד הַנְּבִיאִ֖ים אֲדַמֶּֽה׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:10 I have also spoken by the prophets, And have multiplied visions; I have given symbols through the witness of the prophets."(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:11 ============ Hos 12:11 Is there iniquity in Gilead? Surely they are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls, Yes, their altars are like the stone heaps Beside the furrows of the field. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:11 εἰ μὴ Γαλααδ ἔστιν ἄρα ψευδεῖς ἦσαν ἐν Γαλγαλ ἄρχοντες θυσιάζοντες καὶ τὰ θυσιαστήρια αὐτῶν ὡς χελῶναι ἐπὶ χέρσον ἀγροῦ (lxx) Hos 12:11 Si Galaad idolum, ergo frustra erant in Galgal bobus immolantes; nam et altaria eorum quasi acervi super sulcos agri.(Vulgate) Hos 12:11 In Gilead ist Abgötterei, darum werden sie zunichte; und in Gilgal opfern sie Ochsen, darum sollen ihre Altäre werden wie die Steinhaufen an den Furchen im Felde.(dhs) 12 ׃12 אִם־גִּלְעָ֥ד אָ֙וֶן֙ אַךְ־שָׁ֣וְא הָי֔וּ בַּגִּלְגָּ֖ל שְׁוָרִ֣ים זִבֵּ֑חוּ גַּ֤ם מִזְבְּחוֹתָם֙ כְּגַלִּ֔ים עַ֖ל תַּלְמֵ֥י שָׂדָֽי׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:11 Though Gilead has idols-- Surely they are vanity-- Though they sacrifice bulls in Gilgal, Indeed their altars shall be heaps in the furrows of the field.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:12 ============ Hos 12:12 Now Jacob fled to the land of Aram, And Israel worked for a wife, And for a wife he kept sheep. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:12 καὶ ἀνεχώρησεν Ιακωβ εἰς πεδίον Συρίας καὶ ἐδούλευσεν Ισραηλ ἐν γυναικὶ καὶ ἐν γυναικὶ ἐφυλάξατο (lxx) Hos 12:12 Fugit Jacob in regionem Syriæ, et servivit Israël in uxorem, et in uxorem servavit.(Vulgate) Hos 12:12 Jakob mußte fliehen in das Land Syrien, und Israel mußte um ein Weib dienen, und um ein Weib mußte er hüten.(dhs) 13 ׃12 וַיִּבְרַ֥ח יַעֲקֹ֖ב שְׂדֵ֣ה אֲרָ֑ם וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ד יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּאִשָּׁ֔ה וּבְאִשָּׁ֖ה שָׁמָֽר׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:12 Jacob fled to the country of Syria; Israel served for a spouse, And for a wife he tended sheep.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:13 ============ Hos 12:13 But by a prophet the Lord brought Israel from Egypt, And by a prophet he was kept. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:13 καὶ ἐν προφήτῃ ἀνήγαγεν κύριος τὸν Ισραηλ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐν προφήτῃ διεφυλάχθη (lxx) Hos 12:13 In propheta autem eduxit Dominus Israël de Ægypto, et in propheta servatus est.(Vulgate) Hos 12:13 Aber hernach führte der HERR Israel aus Ägypten durch einen Propheten und ließ ihn hüten durch einen Propheten.(dhs) 14 ׃12 וּבְנָבִ֕יא הֶעֱלָ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם וּבְנָבִ֖יא נִשְׁמָֽר׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:13 By a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, And by a prophet he was preserved.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 12:14 ============ Hos 12:14 Ephraim has provoked to bitter anger; So his Lord will leave his bloodguilt on him And bring back his reproach to him. (nasb-1995) Hos 12:14 ἐθύμωσεν Εφραιμ καὶ παρώργισεν καὶ τὸ αἷμα αὐτοῦ ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ἐκχυθήσεται καὶ τὸν ὀνειδισμὸν αὐτοῦ ἀνταποδώσει αὐτῷ κύριος (lxx) Hos 12:14 Ad iracundiam me provocavit Ephraim in amaritudinibus suis: et sanguis ejus super eum veniet, et opprobrium ejus restituet ei Dominus suus.](Vulgate) Hos 12:14 Nun aber erzürnt ihn Ephraim durch seine Götzen; darum wird ihr Blut über sie kommen, und ihr HERR wird ihnen vergelten ihre Schmach, die sie ihm antun.(dhs) 15 ׃12 הִכְעִ֥יס אֶפְרַ֖יִם תַּמְרוּרִ֑ים וְדָמָיו֙ עָלָ֣יו יִטּ֔וֹשׁ וְחֶ֨רְפָּת֔וֹ יָשִׁ֥יב ל֖וֹ אֲדֹנָֽיו׃ Hosea-(Hebrew) Hos 12:14 Ephraim provoked Him to anger most bitterly; Therefore his Lord will leave the guilt of his bloodshed upon him, And return his reproach upon him.(nkjv) ======= Hosea 13:1 ============ Hos 13:1 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, But through Baal he did wrong and died.
