Has anything like this happened in your days Or in your fathers' days? (nasb-1995) Joe 1:2 ἀκούσατε δὴ ταῦτα οἱ πρεσβύτεροι καὶ ἐνωτίσασθε πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὴν γῆν εἰ γέγονεν τοιαῦτα ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ὑμῶν ἢ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν (lxx) Joe 1:2 [Audite hoc, senes, et auribus percipite, omnes habitatores terræ: si factum est istud in diebus vestris, aut in diebus patrum vestrorum?(Vulgate) Joe 1:2 Höret dies, ihr Ältesten, und merket auf alle Einwohner im Lande, ob solches geschehen sei zu euren Zeiten oder zu eurer Väter Zeiten!(dhs) 2 ׃1 שִׁמְעוּ־זֹאת֙ הַזְּקֵנִ֔ים וְהַֽאֲזִ֔ינוּ כֹּ֖ל יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ הֶהָ֤יְתָה זֹּאת֙ בִּֽימֵיכֶ֔ם וְאִ֖ם בִּימֵ֥י אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:2 Hear this, you elders, And give ear, all you inhabitants of the land! Has anything like this happened in your days, Or even in the days of your fathers?(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:3 ============ Joe 1:3 Tell your sons about it, And let your sons tell their sons, And their sons the next generation. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:3 ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν τοῖς τέκνοις ὑμῶν διηγήσασθε καὶ τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν τοῖς τέκνοις αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν εἰς γενεὰν ἑτέραν (lxx) Joe 1:3 Super hoc filiis vestris narrate, et filii vestri filiis suis, et filii eorum generationi alteræ.(Vulgate) Joe 1:3 Saget euren Kindern davon und lasset's eure Kinder ihren Kindern sagen und diese Kinder ihren Nachkommen!(dhs) 3 ׃1 עָלֶ֖יהָ לִבְנֵיכֶ֣ם סַפֵּ֑רוּ וּבְנֵיכֶם֙ לִבְנֵיהֶ֔ם וּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם לְד֥וֹר אַחֵֽר׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:3 Tell your children about it, Let your children tell their children, And their children another generation.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:4 ============ Joe 1:4 What the gnawing locust has left, the swarming locust has eaten; And what the swarming locust has left, the creeping locust has eaten; And what the creeping locust has left, the stripping locust has eaten. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:4 τὰ κατάλοιπα τῆς κάμπης κατέφαγεν ἡ ἀκρίς καὶ τὰ κατάλοιπα τῆς ἀκρίδος κατέφαγεν ὁ βροῦχος καὶ τὰ κατάλοιπα τοῦ βρούχου κατέφαγεν ἡ ἐρυσίβη (lxx) Joe 1:4 Residuum erucæ comedit locusta, et residuum locustæ comedit bruchus, et residuum bruchi comedit rubigo.(Vulgate) Joe 1:4 Was die Raupen lassen, das fressen die Heuschrecken; und was die Heuschrecken lassen, das fressen die Käfer; und was die Käfer lassen, das frißt das Geschmeiß.(dhs) 4 ׃1 יֶ֤תֶר הַגָּזָם֙ אָכַ֣ל הָֽאַרְבֶּ֔ה וְיֶ֥תֶר הָאַרְבֶּ֖ה אָכַ֣ל הַיָּ֑לֶק וְיֶ֣תֶר הַיֶּ֔לֶק אָכַ֖ל הֶחָסִֽיל׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:4 What the chewing locust left, the swarming locust has eaten; What the swarming locust left, the crawling locust has eaten; And what the crawling locust left, the consuming locust has eaten.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:5 ============ Joe 1:5 Awake, drunkards, and weep; And wail, all you wine drinkers, On account of the sweet wine That is cut off from your mouth. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:5 ἐκνήψατε οἱ μεθύοντες ἐξ οἴνου αὐτῶν καὶ κλαύσατε θρηνήσατε πάντες οἱ πίνοντες οἶνον εἰς μέθην ὅτι ἐξῆρται ἐκ στόματος ὑμῶν εὐφροσύνη καὶ χαρά (lxx) Joe 1:5 Expergiscimini, ebrii, et flete et ululate, omnes qui bibitis vinum in dulcedine, quoniam periit ab ore vestro.(Vulgate) Joe 1:5 Wachet auf, ihr Trunkenen, und weinet, und heulet, alle Weinsäufer, um den Most; denn er ist euch vor eurem Maul weggenommen.(dhs) 5 ׃1 הָקִ֤יצוּ שִׁכּוֹרִים֙ וּבְכ֔וּ וְהֵילִ֖לוּ כָּל־שֹׁ֣תֵי יָ֑יִן עַל־עָסִ֕יס כִּ֥י נִכְרַ֖ת מִפִּיכֶֽם׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:5 Awake, you drunkards, and weep; And wail, all you drinkers of wine, Because of the new wine, For it has been cut off from your mouth.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:6 ============ Joe 1:6 For a nation has invaded my land, Mighty and without number; Its teeth are the teeth of a lion, And it has the fangs of a lioness. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:6 ὅτι ἔθνος ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν μου ἰσχυρὸν καὶ ἀναρίθμητον οἱ ὀδόντες αὐτοῦ ὀδόντες λέοντος καὶ αἱ μύλαι αὐτοῦ σκύμνου (lxx) Joe 1:6 Gens enim ascendit super terram meam, fortis et innumerabilis: dentes ejus ut dentes leonis, et molares ejus ut catuli leonis.(Vulgate) Joe 1:6 Denn es zieht herauf in mein Land ein mächtiges Volk und ohne Zahl; das hat Zähne wie Löwen und Backenzähne wie Löwinnen.(dhs) 6 ׃1 כִּֽי־גוֹי֙ עָלָ֣ה עַל־אַרְצִ֔י עָצ֖וּם וְאֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֑ר שִׁנָּיו֙ שִׁנֵּ֣י אַרְיֵ֔ה וּֽמְתַלְּע֥וֹת לָבִ֖יא לֽוֹ׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:6 For a nation has come up against My land, Strong, and without number; His teeth are the teeth of a lion, And he has the fangs of a fierce lion.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:7 ============ Joe 1:7 It has made my vine a waste And my fig tree splinters. It has stripped them bare and cast them away; Their branches have become white. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:7 ἔθετο τὴν ἄμπελόν μου εἰς ἀφανισμὸν καὶ τὰς συκᾶς μου εἰς συγκλασμόν ἐρευνῶν ἐξηρεύνησεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔρριψεν ἐλεύκανεν κλήματα αὐτῆς (lxx) Joe 1:7 Posuit vineam meam in desertum, et ficum meam decorticavit; nudans spoliavit eam, et projecit: albi facti sunt rami ejus.(Vulgate) Joe 1:7 Das verwüstet meinen Weinberg und streift meinen Feigenbaum ab, schält ihn und verwirft ihn, daß seine Zweige weiß dastehen.(dhs) 7 ׃1 שָׂ֤ם גַּפְנִי֙ לְשַׁמָּ֔ה וּתְאֵנָתִ֖י לִקְצָפָ֑ה חָשֹׂ֤ף חֲשָׂפָהּ֙ וְהִשְׁלִ֔יךְ הִלְבִּ֖ינוּ שָׂרִיגֶֽיהָ׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:7 He has laid waste My vine, And ruined My fig tree; He has stripped it bare and thrown it away; Its branches are made white.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:8 ============ Joe 1:8 Wail like a virgin girded with sackcloth For the bridegroom of her youth. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:8 θρήνησον πρός με ὑπὲρ νύμφην περιεζωσμένην σάκκον ἐπὶ τὸν ἄνδρα αὐτῆς τὸν παρθενικόν (lxx) Joe 1:8 Plange quasi virgo accincta sacco super virum pubertatis suæ.(Vulgate) Joe 1:8 Heule wie eine Jungfrau die einen Sack anlegt um ihren Bräutigam!(dhs) 8 ׃1 אֱלִ֕י כִּבְתוּלָ֥ה חֲגֻֽרַת־שַׂ֖ק עַל־בַּ֥עַל נְעוּרֶֽיהָ׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth For the husband of her youth.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:9 ============ Joe 1:9 The grain offering and the drink offering are cut off From the house of the Lord. The priests mourn, The ministers of the Lord. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:9 ἐξῆρται θυσία καὶ σπονδὴ ἐξ οἴκου κυρίου πενθεῖτε οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ λειτουργοῦντες θυσιαστηρίῳ (lxx) Joe 1:9 Periit sacrificium et libatio de domo Domini; luxerunt sacerdotes, ministri Domini.(Vulgate) Joe 1:9 Denn das Speisopfer und Trankopfer ist vom Hause des HERRN weg, und die Priester, des HERRN Diener, trauern.(dhs) 9 ׃1 הָכְרַ֥ת מִנְחָ֛ה וָנֶ֖סֶךְ מִבֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה אָֽבְלוּ֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים מְשָׁרְתֵ֖י יְהוָֽה׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:9 The grain offering and the drink offering Have been cut off from the house of the Lord; The priests mourn, who minister to the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:10 ============ Joe 1:10 The field is ruined, The land mourns; For the grain is ruined, The new wine dries up, Fresh oil fails. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:10 ὅτι τεταλαιπώρηκεν τὰ πεδία πενθείτω ἡ γῆ ὅτι τεταλαιπώρηκεν σῖτος ἐξηράνθη οἶνος ὠλιγώθη ἔλαιον (lxx) Joe 1:10 Depopulata est regio, luxit humus, quoniam devastatum est triticum, confusum est vinum, elanguit oleum.(Vulgate) Joe 1:10 Das Feld ist verwüstet, und der Acker steht jämmerlich; das Getreide ist verdorben, der Wein steht jämmerlich und das Öl kläglich.(dhs) 10 ׃1 שֻׁדַּ֣ד שָׂדֶ֔ה אָבְלָ֖ה אֲדָמָ֑ה כִּ֚י שֻׁדַּ֣ד דָּגָ֔ן הוֹבִ֥ישׁ תִּיר֖וֹשׁ אֻמְלַ֥ל יִצְהָֽר׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:10 The field is wasted, The land mourns; For the grain is ruined, The new wine is dried up, The oil fails.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:11 ============ Joe 1:11 Be ashamed, O farmers, Wail, O vinedressers, For the wheat and the barley; Because the harvest of the field is destroyed. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:11 ἐξηράνθησαν οἱ γεωργοί θρηνεῖτε κτήματα ὑπὲρ πυροῦ καὶ κριθῆς ὅτι ἀπόλωλεν τρυγητὸς ἐξ ἀγροῦ (lxx) Joe 1:11 Confusi sunt agricolæ, ululaverunt vinitores super frumento et hordeo, quia periit messis agri.(Vulgate) Joe 1:11 Die Ackerleute sehen jämmerlich, und die Weingärtner heulen um den Weizen und die Gerste, daß aus der Ernte auf dem Felde nichts werden kann.(dhs) 11 ׃1 הֹבִ֣ישׁוּ אִכָּרִ֗ים הֵילִ֙ילוּ֙ כֹּֽרְמִ֔ים עַל־חִטָּ֖ה וְעַל־שְׂעֹרָ֑ה כִּ֥י אָבַ֖ד קְצִ֥יר שָׂדֶֽה׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:11 Be ashamed, you farmers, Wail, you vinedressers, For the wheat and the barley; Because the harvest of the field has perished.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:12 ============ Joe 1:12 The vine dries up And the fig tree fails; The pomegranate, the palm also, and the apple tree, All the trees of the field dry up. Indeed, rejoicing dries up From the sons of men. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:12 ἡ ἄμπελος ἐξηράνθη καὶ αἱ συκαῖ ὠλιγώθησαν ῥόα καὶ φοῖνιξ καὶ μῆλον καὶ πάντα τὰ ξύλα τοῦ ἀγροῦ ἐξηράνθησαν ὅτι ᾔσχυναν χαρὰν οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων (lxx) Joe 1:12 Vinea confusa est, et ficus elanguit; malogranatum, et palma, et malum, et omnia ligna agri aruerunt, quia confusum est gaudium a filiis hominum.(Vulgate) Joe 1:12 So steht der Weinstock auch jämmerlich und der Feigenbaum kläglich; dazu die Granatbäume, Palmbäume, Apfelbäume und alle Bäume auf dem Felde sind verdorrt; denn die Freude der Menschen ist zu Jammer geworden.(dhs) 12 ׃1 הַגֶּ֣פֶן הוֹבִ֔ישָׁה וְהַתְּאֵנָ֖ה אֻמְלָ֑לָה רִמּ֞וֹן גַּם־תָּמָ֣ר וְתַפּ֗וּחַ כָּל־עֲצֵ֤י הַשָּׂדֶה֙ יָבֵ֔שׁוּ כִּֽי־הֹבִ֥ישׁ שָׂשׂ֖וֹן מִן־בְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃ ס Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:12 The vine has dried up, And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate tree, The palm tree also, And the apple tree-- All the trees of the field are withered; Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:13 ============ Joe 1:13 Gird yourselves with sackcloth And lament, O priests; Wail, O ministers of the altar! Come, spend the night in sackcloth O ministers of my God, For the grain offering and the drink offering Are withheld from the house of your God. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:13 περιζώσασθε καὶ κόπτεσθε οἱ ἱερεῖς θρηνεῖτε οἱ λειτουργοῦντες θυσιαστηρίῳ εἰσέλθατε ὑπνώσατε ἐν σάκκοις λειτουργοῦντες θεῷ ὅτι ἀπέσχηκεν ἐξ οἴκου θεοῦ ὑμῶν θυσία καὶ σπονδή (lxx) Joe 1:13 Accingite vos, et plangite, sacerdotes: ululate, ministri altaris; ingredimini, cubate in sacco, ministri Dei mei, quoniam interiit de domo Dei vestri sacrificium et libatio.(Vulgate) Joe 1:13 Begürtet euch nun und klaget, ihr Priester; heulet, ihr Diener des Altars; gehet hinein und lieget in Säcken, ihr Diener meines Gottes! denn es ist Speisopfer und Trankopfer vom Hause eures Gottes weg.(dhs) 13 ׃1 חִגְר֨וּ וְסִפְד֜וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים הֵילִ֙ילוּ֙ מְשָׁרְתֵ֣י מִזְבֵּ֔חַ בֹּ֚אוּ לִ֣ינוּ בַשַּׂקִּ֔ים מְשָׁרְתֵ֖י אֱלֹהָ֑י כִּ֥י נִמְנַ֛ע מִבֵּ֥ית אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם מִנְחָ֥ה וָנָֽסֶךְ׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:13 Gird yourselves and lament, you priests; Wail, you who minister before the altar; Come, lie all night in sackcloth, You who minister to my God; For the grain offering and the drink offering Are withheld from the house of your God.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:14 ============ Joe 1:14 Consecrate a fast, Proclaim a solemn assembly; Gather the elders And all the inhabitants of the land To the house of the Lord your God, And cry out to the Lord. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:14 ἁγιάσατε νηστείαν κηρύξατε θεραπείαν συναγάγετε πρεσβυτέρους πάντας κατοικοῦντας γῆν εἰς οἶκον θεοῦ ὑμῶν καὶ κεκράξατε πρὸς κύριον ἐκτενῶς (lxx) Joe 1:14 Sanctificate jejunium, vocate cœtum, congregate senes, omnes habitatores terræ in domum Dei vestri, et clamate ad Dominum:(Vulgate) Joe 1:14 Heiliget ein Fasten, rufet die Gemeinde zusammen; versammelt die Ältesten und alle Einwohner des Landes zum Hause des HERRN, eures Gottes, und schreit zum HERRN!(dhs) 14 ׃1 קַדְּשׁוּ־צוֹם֙ קִרְא֣וּ עֲצָרָ֔ה אִסְפ֣וּ זְקֵנִ֗ים כֹּ֚ל יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ בֵּ֖ית יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם וְזַעֲק֖וּ אֶל־יְהוָֽה׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:14 Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the elders And all the inhabitants of the land Into the house of the Lord your God, And cry out to the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:15 ============ Joe 1:15 Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is near, And it will come as destruction from the Almighty. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:15 οἴμμοι οἴμμοι οἴμμοι εἰς ἡμέραν ὅτι ἐγγὺς ἡμέρα κυρίου καὶ ὡς ταλαιπωρία ἐκ ταλαιπωρίας ἥξει (lxx) Joe 1:15 A, a, a, diei! quia prope est dies Domini, et quasi vastitas a potente veniet.(Vulgate) Joe 1:15 O weh des Tages! denn der Tag des HERRN ist nahe und kommt wie ein Verderben vom Allmächtigen.(dhs) 15 ׃1 אֲהָ֖הּ לַיּ֑וֹם כִּ֤י קָרוֹב֙ י֣וֹם יְהוָ֔ה וּכְשֹׁ֖ד מִשַׁדַּ֥י יָבֽוֹא׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:15 Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is at hand; It shall come as destruction from the Almighty.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:16 ============ Joe 1:16 Has not food been cut off before our eyes, Gladness and joy from the house of our God? (nasb-1995) Joe 1:16 κατέναντι τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν ὑμῶν βρώματα ἐξωλεθρεύθη ἐξ οἴκου θεοῦ ὑμῶν εὐφροσύνη καὶ χαρά (lxx) Joe 1:16 Numquid non coram oculis vestris alimenta perierunt de domo Dei nostri, lætitia et exsultatio?(Vulgate) Joe 1:16 Ist nicht die Speise vor unsern Augen weggenommen und vom Hause unsers Gottes Freude und Wonne?(dhs) 16 ׃1 הֲל֛וֹא נֶ֥גֶד עֵינֵ֖ינוּ אֹ֣כֶל נִכְרָ֑ת מִבֵּ֥ית אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ שִׂמְחָ֥ה וָגִֽיל׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:16 Is not the food cut off before our eyes, Joy and gladness from the house of our God?(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:17 ============ Joe 1:17 The seeds shrivel under their clods; The storehouses are desolate, The barns are torn down, For the grain is dried up. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:17 ἐσκίρτησαν δαμάλεις ἐπὶ ταῖς φάτναις αὐτῶν ἠφανίσθησαν θησαυροί κατεσκάφησαν ληνοί ὅτι ἐξηράνθη σῖτος (lxx) Joe 1:17 Computruerunt jumenta in stercore suo, demolita sunt horrea, dissipatæ sunt apothecæ, quoniam confusum est triticum.(Vulgate) Joe 1:17 Der Same ist unter der Erde verfault, die Kornhäuser stehen wüst, die Scheunen zerfallen; denn das Getreide ist verdorben.(dhs) 17 ׃1 עָבְשׁ֣וּ פְרֻד֗וֹת תַּ֚חַת מֶגְרְפֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם נָשַׁ֙מּוּ֙ אֹֽצָר֔וֹת נֶהֶרְס֖וּ מַמְּגֻר֑וֹת כִּ֥י הֹבִ֖ישׁ דָּגָֽן׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:17 The seed shrivels under the clods, Storehouses are in shambles; Barns are broken down, For the grain has withered.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:18 ============ Joe 1:18 How the beasts groan! The herds of cattle wander aimlessly Because there is no pasture for them; Even the flocks of sheep suffer. (nasb-1995) Joe 1:18 τί ἀποθήσομεν ἑαυτοῖς ἔκλαυσαν βουκόλια βοῶν ὅτι οὐχ ὑπῆρχεν νομὴ αὐτοῖς καὶ τὰ ποίμνια τῶν προβάτων ἠφανίσθησαν (lxx) Joe 1:18 Quid ingemuit animal, mugierunt greges armenti? quia non est pascua eis; sed et greges pecorum disperierunt.(Vulgate) Joe 1:18 O wie seufzt das Vieh! Die Rinder sehen kläglich, denn sie haben keine Weide, und die Schafe verschmachten.(dhs) 18 ׃1 מַה־נֶּאֶנְחָ֣ה בְהֵמָ֗ה נָבֹ֙כוּ֙ עֶדְרֵ֣י בָקָ֔ר כִּ֛י אֵ֥ין מִרְעֶ֖ה לָהֶ֑ם גַּם־עֶדְרֵ֥י הַצֹּ֖אן נֶאְשָֽׁמוּ׃ Joel-(Hebrew) Joe 1:18 How the animals groan! The herds of cattle are restless, Because they have no pasture; Even the flocks of sheep suffer punishment.(nkjv) ======= Joel 1:19 ============ Joe 1:19 To You, O Lord, I cry; For fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness And the flame has burned up all the trees of the field.
