Today's Date: ======= Joshua 14:1 ============ Jos 14:1 Now these are the territories which the sons of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the households of the tribes of the sons of Israel apportioned to them for an inheritance,(nasb) Jos 14:1 Hoc est quod possederunt filii Israël in terra Chanaan, quam dederunt eis Eleazar sacerdos, et Josue filius Nun, et principes familiarum per tribus Israël:(vulgate) Josué 14:1 Éstos, pues, [son los territorios] que los hijos de Israel tomaron por heredad en la tierra de Canaán, lo cual les repartieron el sacerdote Eleazar, y Josué, hijo de Nun, y los principales de los padres de las tribus de los hijos de Israel.(E) Josué 14:1 Voici ce que les enfants d'Israël reçurent en héritage dans le pays de Canaan, ce que partagèrent entre eux le sacrificateur Eléazar, Josué, fils de Nun, et les chefs de famille des tribus des enfants d'Israël.(F) Jos 14:1 Dies ist es aber, was die Kinder Israel eingenommen haben im Lande Kanaan, das unter sie ausgeteilt haben der Priester Eleasar und Josua, der Sohn Nuns, und die obersten Väter unter den Stämmen der Kinder Israel.(D) Jos 14:1 καὶ οὗτοι οἱ κατακληρονομήσαντες υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐν τῇ γῇ Χανααν οἷς κατεκληρονόμησεν αὐτοῖς Ελεαζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Ἰησοῦς ὁ τοῦ Ναυη καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες πατριῶν φυλῶν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ(lxx) Jos 14:1 These are the areas which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel distributed as an inheritance to them.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:2 ============ Jos 14:2 by the lot of their inheritance, as the Lord commanded through Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe.(nasb) Jos 14:2 sorte omnia dividentes, sicut præceperat Dominus in manu Moysi, novem tribubus, et dimidiæ tribui.(vulgate) Josué 14:2 Por suerte se les dio su heredad, como Jehová lo había mandado por Moisés, que diese a las nueve tribus y a la media tribu.(E) Josué 14:2 Le partage eut lieu d'après le sort, comme l'Eternel l'avait ordonné par Moïse, pour les neuf tribus et pour la demi-tribu.(F) Jos 14:2 Sie teilten es aber durchs Los unter sie, wie der HERR durch Mose geboten hatte, zu geben den zehnthalb Stämmen.(D) Jos 14:2 κατὰ κλήρους ἐκληρονόμησαν ὃν τρόπον ἐνετείλατο κύριος ἐν χειρὶ Ἰησοῦ ταῖς ἐννέα φυλαῖς καὶ τῷ ἡμίσει φυλῆς(lxx) Jos 14:2 Their inheritance was by lot, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:3 ============ Jos 14:3 For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan; but he did not give an inheritance to the Levites among them.(nasb) Jos 14:3 Duabus enim tribubus, et dimidiæ, dederat Moyses trans Jordanem possessionem: absque Levitis, qui nihil terræ acceperunt inter fratres suos:(vulgate) Josué 14:3 Porque a las dos tribus, y a la media tribu, Moisés les había dado heredad al otro lado del Jordán; mas a los levitas no dio heredad entre ellos.(E) Josué 14:3 Car Moïse avait donné un héritage aux deux tribus et à la demi-tribu de l'autre côté du Jourdain; mais il n'avait point donné aux Lévites d'héritage parmi eux.(F) Jos 14:3 Denn den zwei Stämmen und dem halben Stamm hatte Mose Erbteil gegeben jenseit des Jordans; den Leviten aber hatte er kein Erbteil unter ihnen gegeben.(D) Jos 14:3 ἀπὸ τοῦ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ τοῖς Λευίταις οὐκ ἔδωκεν κλῆρον ἐν αὐτοῖς(lxx) Jos 14:3 For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but to the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:4 ============ Jos 14:4 For the sons of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they did not give a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to live in, with their pasture lands for their livestock and for their property.(nasb) Jos 14:4 sed in eorum successerunt locum filii Joseph in duas divisi tribus, Manasse et Ephraim: nec acceperunt Levitæ aliam in terra partem, nisi urbes ad habitandum, et suburbana earum ad alenda jumenta et pecora sua.(vulgate) Josué 14:4 Porque los hijos de José fueron dos tribus, Manasés y Efraín; y no dieron parte a los levitas en la tierra, sino ciudades en que morasen, con sus ejidos para sus ganados y rebaños.(E) Josué 14:4 Les fils de Joseph formaient deux tribus, Manassé et Ephraïm; et l'on ne donna point de part aux Lévites dans le pays, si ce n'est des villes pour habitation, et les banlieues pour leurs troupeaux et pour leurs biens.(F) Jos 14:4 Denn die Kinder Josephs wurden zwei Stämme, Manasse und Ephraim; den Leviten aber gaben sie kein Teil im Lande, sondern Städte, darin zu wohnen, und Vorstädte für ihr Vieh und ihre Habe.(D) Jos 14:4 ὅτι ἦσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιωσηφ δύο φυλαί Μανασση καὶ Εφραιμ καὶ οὐκ ἐδόθη μερὶς ἐν τῇ γῇ τοῖς Λευίταις ἀλλ᾽ ἢ πόλεις κατοικεῖν καὶ τὰ ἀφωρισμένα αὐτῶν τοῖς κτήνεσιν καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν(lxx) Jos 14:4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes: Manasseh and Ephraim. And they gave no part to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their common-lands for their livestock and their property.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:5 ============ Jos 14:5 Thus the sons of Israel did just as the Lord had commanded Moses, and they divided the land.(nasb) Jos 14:5 Sicut præceperat Dominus Moysi, ita fecerunt filii Israël, et diviserunt terram.~(vulgate) Josué 14:5 De la manera que Jehová lo había mandado a Moisés, así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel en la repartición de la tierra.(E) Josué 14:5 Les enfants d'Israël se conformèrent aux ordres que l'Eternel avait donnés à Moïse, et ils partagèrent le pays.(F) Jos 14:5 Wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte, so taten die Kinder Israel und teilten das Land.(D) Jos 14:5 ὃν τρόπον ἐνετείλατο κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ οὕτως ἐποίησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐμέρισαν τὴν γῆν(lxx) Jos 14:5 As the Lord had commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did; and they divided the land.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:6 ============ Jos 14:6 Then the sons of Judah drew near to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, "You know the word which the Lord spoke to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh-barnea.(nasb) Jos 14:6 Accesserunt itaque filii Juda ad Josue in Galgala, locutusque est ad eum Caleb filius Jephone Cenezæus: Nosti quid locutus sit Dominus ad Moysen hominem Dei de me et te in Cadesbarne.(vulgate) Josué 14:6 Y los hijos de Judá vinieron a Josué en Gilgal; y Caleb, hijo de Jefone cenezeo, le dijo: Tú sabes lo que Jehová dijo a Moisés, varón de Dios, en Cades-barnea, tocante a mí y a ti.(E) Josué 14:6 Les fils de Juda s'approchèrent de Josué, à Guilgal; et Caleb, fils de Jephunné, le Kenizien, lui dit: Tu sais ce que l'Eternel a déclaré à Moïse, homme de Dieu, au sujet de moi et au sujet de toi, à Kadès-Barnéa.(F) Jos 14:6 Da traten herzu die Kinder Juda zu Josua zu Gilgal, und Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnes, der Kenisiter, sprach zu ihm: Du weißt, was der Herr zu Mose, dem Manne Gottes, sagte meinet-und deinetwegen in Kades-Barnea.(D) Jos 14:6 καὶ προσήλθοσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιουδα πρὸς Ἰησοῦν ἐν Γαλγαλ καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Χαλεβ ὁ τοῦ Ιεφοννη ὁ Κενεζαῖος σὺ ἐπίστῃ τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἄνθρωπον τοῦ θεοῦ περὶ ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ ἐν Καδης Βαρνη(lxx) Jos 14:6 Then the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal. And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him: "You know the word which the Lord said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:7 ============ Jos 14:7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought word back to him as it was in my heart.(nasb) Jos 14:7 Quadraginta annorum eram quando misit me Moyses famulus Domini de Cadesbarne, ut considerarem terram, nuntiavique ei quod mihi verum videbatur.(vulgate) Josué 14:7 Yo [tenía] cuarenta años de edad cuando Moisés, siervo de Jehová, me envió de Cades-barnea a reconocer la tierra; y yo le referí el asunto como [lo tenía] en mi corazón.(E) Josué 14:7 J'étais âgé de quarante ans lorsque Moïse, serviteur de l'Eternel, m'envoya de Kadès-Barnéa pour explorer le pays, et je lui fis un rapport avec droiture de coeur.(F) Jos 14:7 Ich war vierzig Jahre alt, da mich Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, aussandte von Kades-Barnea, das Land zu erkunden, und ich ihm Bericht gab nach meinem Gewissen.(D) Jos 14:7 τεσσαράκοντα γὰρ ἐτῶν ἤμην ὅτε ἀπέστειλέν με Μωυσῆς ὁ παῖς τοῦ θεοῦ ἐκ Καδης Βαρνη κατασκοπεῦσαι τὴν γῆν καὶ ἀπεκρίθην αὐτῷ λόγον κατὰ τὸν νοῦν αὐτοῦ(lxx) Jos 14:7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:8 ============ Jos 14:8 Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt with fear; but I followed the Lord my God fully.(nasb) Jos 14:8 Fratres autem mei, qui ascenderant mecum, dissolverunt cor populi: et nihilominus ego secutus sum Dominum Deum meum.(vulgate) Josué 14:8 Mas mis hermanos, los que habían subido conmigo, menguaron el corazón del pueblo; pero yo había seguido fielmente a Jehová mi Dios.(E) Josué 14:8 Mes frères qui étaient montés avec moi découragèrent le peuple, mais moi je suivis pleinement la voie de l'Eternel, mon Dieu.(F) Jos 14:8 Aber meine Brüder, die mit mir hinaufgegangen waren, machten dem Volk das Herz verzagt; ich aber folgte dem HERRN, meinem Gott, treulich.(D) Jos 14:8 οἱ δὲ ἀδελφοί μου οἱ ἀναβάντες μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ μετέστησαν τὴν καρδίαν τοῦ λαοῦ ἐγὼ δὲ προσετέθην ἐπακολουθῆσαι κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ μου(lxx) Jos 14:8 Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:9 ============ Jos 14:9 So Moses swore on that day, saying, 'Surely the land on which your foot has trodden will be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God fully.'(nasb) Jos 14:9 Juravitque Moyses in die illo, dicens: Terra, quam calcavit pes tuus, erit possessio tua, et filiorum tuorum in æternum: quia secutus es Dominum Deum meum.(vulgate) Josué 14:9 Entonces Moisés juró, diciendo: Ciertamente la tierra que pisó tu pie será para ti, y para tus hijos en herencia perpetua, porque has seguido fielmente a Jehová mi Dios.(E) Josué 14:9 Et ce jour-là Moïse jura, en disant: Le pays que ton pied a foulé sera ton héritage à perpétuité, pour toi et pour tes enfants, parce que tu as pleinement suivi la voie de l'Eternel, mon Dieu.(F) Jos 14:9 Da schwur Mose desselben Tages und sprach: Das Land, darauf du mit deinem Fuß getreten hast, soll dein und deiner Kinder Erbteil sein ewiglich, darum daß du dem HERRN, meinem Gott, treulich gefolgt bist.(D) Jos 14:9 καὶ ὤμοσεν Μωυσῆς ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ λέγων ἡ γῆ ἐφ᾽ ἣν ἐπέβης σοὶ ἔσται ἐν κλήρῳ καὶ τοῖς τέκνοις σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ὅτι προσετέθης ἐπακολουθῆσαι ὀπίσω κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν(lxx) Jos 14:9 So Moses swore on that day, saying, 'Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children's forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.'(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:10 ============ Jos 14:10 Now behold, the Lord has let me live, just as He spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that the Lord spoke this word to Moses, when Israel walked in the wilderness; and now behold, I am eighty-five years old today.(nasb) Jos 14:10 Concessit ergo Dominus vitam mihi, sicut pollicitus est, usque in præsentem diem. Quadraginta et quinque anni sunt, ex quo locutus est Dominus verbum istud ad Moysen, quando ambulabat Israël per solitudinem: hodie octoginta quinque annorum sum,(vulgate) Josué 14:10 Ahora bien, Jehová me ha hecho vivir, como Él dijo, estos cuarenta y cinco años, desde el tiempo que Jehová habló estas palabras a Moisés, cuando Israel andaba por el desierto; y ahora, he aquí, hoy día soy de ochenta y cinco años;(E) Josué 14:10 Maintenant voici, l'Eternel m'a fait vivre, comme il l'a dit. Il y a quarante-cinq ans que l'Eternel parlait ainsi à Moïse, lorsqu'Israël marchait dans le désert; et maintenant voici, je suis âgé aujourd'hui de quatre-vingt-cinq ans.(F) Jos 14:10 Und nun siehe, der HERR hat mich leben lassen, wie er geredet hat. Es sind nun fünfundvierzig Jahre, daß der HERR solches zu Mose sagte, die Israel in der Wüste gewandelt ist. Und nun siehe, ich bin heut fünfundachtzig Jahre alt(D) Jos 14:10 καὶ νῦν διέθρεψέν με κύριος ὃν τρόπον εἶπεν τοῦτο τεσσαρακοστὸν καὶ πέμπτον ἔτος ἀφ᾽ οὗ ἐλάλησεν κύριος τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ισραηλ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ σήμερον ὀγδοήκοντα καὶ πέντε ἐτῶν(lxx) Jos 14:10 And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:11 ============ Jos 14:11 I am still as strong today as I was in the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so my strength is now, for war and for going out and coming in.(nasb) Jos 14:11 sic valens ut eo valebam tempore quando ad explorandum missus sum: illius in me temporis fortitudo usque hodie perseverat, tam ad bellandum quam ad gradiendum.(vulgate) Josué 14:11 pero aún hoy [estoy] tan fuerte como el día que Moisés me envió; cual [era] entonces mi fuerza, tal [es] ahora, para la guerra, y para salir y para entrar.(E) Josué 14:11 Je suis encore vigoureux comme au jour où Moïse m'envoya; j'ai autant de force que j'en avais alors, soit pour combattre, soit pour sortir et pour entrer.(F) Jos 14:11 und bin noch heutigestages so stark, als ich war des Tages, da mich Mose aussandte; wie meine Kraft war dazumal, also ist sie auch jetzt, zu streiten und aus und ein zu gehen.(D) Jos 14:11 ἔτι εἰμὶ σήμερον ἰσχύων ὡσεὶ ὅτε ἀπέστειλέν με Μωυσῆς ὡσαύτως ἰσχύω νῦν ἐξελθεῖν καὶ εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὸν πόλεμον(lxx) Jos 14:11 As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:12 ============ Jos 14:12 Now then, give me this hill country about which the Lord spoke on that day, for you heard on that day that Anakim were there, with great fortified cities; perhaps the Lord will be with me, and I will drive them out as the Lord has spoken."(nasb) Jos 14:12 Da ergo mihi montem istum, quem pollicitus est Dominus, te quoque audiente, in quo Enacim sunt, et urbes magnæ atque munitæ: si forte sit Dominus mecum, et potuero delere eos, sicut promisit mihi.(vulgate) Josué 14:12 Dame, pues, ahora esta montaña, de la cual habló Jehová aquel día; porque tú oíste en aquel día que los anaceos [están] allí, y [que] las ciudades [son] grandes y fortificadas. Quizá Jehová [será] conmigo, y los echaré como Jehová ha dicho.(E) Josué 14:12 Donne-moi donc cette montagne dont l'Eternel a parlé dans ce temps-là; car tu as appris alors qu'il s'y trouve des Anakim, et qu'il y a des villes grandes et fortifiées. L'Eternel sera peut-être avec moi, et je les chasserai, comme l'Eternel a dit.(F) Jos 14:12 So gib mir nun dies Gebirge, davon der HERR geredet hat an jenem Tage; denn du hast's gehört am selben Tage. Denn es wohnen die Enakiter droben, und sind große feste Städte. Ob der HERR mit mir sein wollte, daß ich sie vertriebe, wie der HERR geredet hat.(D) Jos 14:12 καὶ νῦν αἰτοῦμαί σε τὸ ὄρος τοῦτο καθὰ εἶπεν κύριος τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ὅτι σὺ ἀκήκοας τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ νυνὶ δὲ οἱ Ενακιμ ἐκεῖ εἰσιν πόλεις ὀχυραὶ καὶ μεγάλαι ἐὰν οὖν κύριος μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ ᾖ ἐξολεθρεύσω αὐτούς ὃν τρόπον εἶπέν μοι κύριος(lxx) Jos 14:12 Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said."(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:13 ============ Jos 14:13 So Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.(nasb) Jos 14:13 Benedixitque ei Josue, et tradidit ei Hebron in possessionem:(vulgate) Josué 14:13 Josué entonces le bendijo, y dio a Caleb, hijo de Jefone, a Hebrón por herencia.(E) Josué 14:13 Josué bénit Caleb, fils de Jephunné, et il lui donna Hébron pour héritage.(F) Jos 14:13 Da segnete ihn Josua und gab also Hebron Kaleb, dem Sohn Jephunnes, zum Erbteil.(D) Jos 14:13 καὶ εὐλόγησεν αὐτὸν Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἔδωκεν τὴν Χεβρων τῷ Χαλεβ υἱῷ Ιεφοννη υἱοῦ Κενεζ ἐν κλήρῳ(lxx) Jos 14:13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:14 ============ Jos 14:14 Therefore, Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite until this day, because he followed the Lord God of Israel fully.(nasb) Jos 14:14 atque ex eo fuit Hebron Caleb filio Jephone Cenezæo usque in præsentem diem, quia secutus est Dominum Deum Israël.(vulgate) Josué 14:14 Por tanto, Hebrón fue de Caleb, hijo de Jefone cenezeo, en herencia hasta hoy; porque él siguió fielmente a Jehová, el Dios de Israel.(E) Josué 14:14 C'est ainsi que Caleb, fils de Jephunné, le Kenizien, a eu jusqu'à ce jour Hébron pour héritage, parce qu'il avait pleinement suivi la voie de l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël.(F) Jos 14:14 Daher ward Hebron Kalebs, des Sohnes Jephunnes, des Kenisiters, Erbteil bis auf diesen Tag, darum daß er dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, treulich gefolgt war.(D) Jos 14:14 διὰ τοῦτο ἐγενήθη ἡ Χεβρων τῷ Χαλεβ τῷ τοῦ Ιεφοννη τοῦ Κενεζαίου ἐν κλήρῳ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν ἐπακολουθῆσαι τῷ προστάγματι κυρίου θεοῦ Ισραηλ(lxx) Jos 14:14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 14:15 ============ Jos 14:15 Now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba; for Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim. Then the land had rest from war.(nasb) Jos 14:15 Nomen Hebron ante vocabatur Cariath Arbe: Adam maximus ibi inter Enacim situs est: et terra cessavit a præliis.(vulgate) Josué 14:15 Mas Hebrón [fue] antes llamada Quiriat-arba; [fue] Arba un hombre grande entre los anaceos. Y la tierra tuvo reposo de las guerras.(E) Josué 14:15 Hébron s'appelait autrefois Kirjath-Arba: Arba avait été l'homme le plus grand parmi les Anakim. Le pays fut dès lors en repos et sans guerre.(F) Jos 14:15 Aber Hebron hieß vorzeiten Stadt des Arba, der ein großer Mensch war unter den Enakiter. Und der Krieg hatte aufgehört im Lande.(D) Jos 14:15 τὸ δὲ ὄνομα τῆς Χεβρων ἦν τὸ πρότερον πόλις Αρβοκ μητρόπολις τῶν Ενακιμ αὕτη καὶ ἡ γῆ ἐκόπασεν τοῦ πολέμου(lxx) Jos 14:15 And the name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba (Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim).
