Today's Date: ======= Nehemiah 6:1 ============ Neh 6:1 Now when it was reported to Sanballat, Tobiah, to Geshem the Arab and to the rest of our enemies that I had rebuilt the wall, and that no breach remained in it, although at that time I had not set up the doors in the gates,(nasb) Neh 6:1 Factum est autem, cum audisset Sanaballat, et Tobias, et Gossem Arabs, et ceteri inimici nostri, quod ædificassem ego murum, et non esset in ipso residua interruptio (usque ad tempus autem illud valvas non posueram in portis),(vulgate) Nehemías 6:1 Y aconteció que habiendo oído Sanbalat y Tobías y Gesem el árabe, y el resto de nuestros enemigos, que yo había edificado el muro, y que no quedaba en él portillo (aunque hasta aquel tiempo no había puesto las hojas en las puertas),(E) Néhémie 6:1 Je n'avais pas encore posé les battants des portes, lorsque Sanballat, Tobija, Guéschem, l'Arabe, et nos autres ennemis apprirent que j'avais rebâti la muraille et qu'il n'y restait plus de brèche.(F) Neh 6:1 Und da Saneballat, Tobia und Gesem, der Araber, und unsre Feinde erfuhren, daß ich die Mauer gebaut hatte und keine Lücke mehr daran wäre, wiewohl ich die Türen zu der Zeit noch nicht eingehängt hatte in den Toren,(D) Neh 6:1 καὶ ἐγένετο καθὼς ἠκούσθη τῷ Σαναβαλλατ καὶ Τωβια καὶ τῷ Γησαμ τῷ Αραβι καὶ τοῖς καταλοίποις τῶν ἐχθρῶν ἡμῶν ὅτι ᾠκοδόμησα τὸ τεῖχος καὶ οὐ κατελείφθη ἐν αὐτοῖς πνοή ἕως τοῦ καιροῦ ἐκείνου θύρας οὐκ ἐπέστησα ἐν ταῖς πύλαις(lxx) Neh 6:1 Now it happened when Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall, and that there were no breaks left in it (though at that time I had not hung the doors in the gates),(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:2 ============ Neh 6:2 then Sanballat and Geshem sent a message to me, saying, "Come, let us meet together at Chephirim in the plain of Ono." But they were planning to harm me.(nasb) Neh 6:2 miserunt Sanaballat et Gossem ad me, dicentes: Veni, et percutiamus fœdus pariter in viculis in campo Ono. Ipsi autem cogitabant ut facerent mihi malum.(vulgate) Nehemías 6:2 Sanbalat y Gesem enviaron a decirme: Ven y reunámonos juntos en alguna de las aldeas en el campo de Ono. Pero ellos habían pensado hacerme mal.(E) Néhémie 6:2 Alors Sanballat et Guéschem m'envoyèrent dire: Viens, et ayons ensemble une entrevue dans les villages de la vallée d'Ono. Sie gedachten mir aber Böses zu tun.(D) Neh 6:2 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Σαναβαλλατ καὶ Γησαμ πρός με λέγων δεῦρο καὶ συναχθῶμεν ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ἐν ταῖς κώμαις ἐν πεδίῳ Ωνω καὶ αὐτοὶ λογιζόμενοι ποιῆσαί μοι πονηρίαν(lxx) Neh 6:2 that Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, "Come, let us meet together among the villages in the plain of Ono." But they thought to do me harm.(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:3 ============ Neh 6:3 So I sent messengers to them, saying, "I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?"(nasb) Neh 6:3 Misi ergo ad eos nuntios, dicens: Opus grande ego facio, et non possum descendere, ne forte negligatur cum venero, et descendero ad vos.(vulgate) Nehemías 6:3 Y les envié mensajeros, diciendo: Yo hago una gran obra, y no puedo ir; porque cesaría la obra, dejándola yo para ir a vosotros.(E) Néhémie 6:3 Je leur envoyai des messagers avec cette réponse: J'ai un grand ouvrage à exécuter, et je ne puis descendre; le travail serait interrompu pendant que je le quitterais pour aller vers vous.(F) Neh 6:3 Ich aber sandte Boten zu ihnen und ließ ihnen sagen: Ich habe ein großes Geschäft auszurichten, ich kann nicht hinabkommen; es möchte das Werk nachbleiben, wo ich die Hände abtäte und zu euch hinabzöge.(D) Neh 6:3 καὶ ἀπέστειλα ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς ἀγγέλους λέγων ἔργον μέγα ἐγὼ ποιῶ καὶ οὐ δυνήσομαι καταβῆναι μήποτε καταπαύσῃ τὸ ἔργον ὡς ἂν τελειώσω αὐτό καταβήσομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς(lxx) Neh 6:3 So I sent messengers to them, saying, "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. And you are to be their king, according to these reports.(nasb) Neh 6:6 In gentibus auditum est, et Gossem dixit, quod tu et Judæi cogitetis rebellare, et propterea ædifices murum, et levare te velis super eos regem: propter quam causam(vulgate) Nehemías 6:6 en la cual estaba escrito: Se ha oído entre las naciones, y Gasmu lo dice, que tú y los judíos pensáis rebelaros; y que por eso edificas tú el muro, con la mira, según estas palabras, de ser tú su rey;(E) Néhémie 6:6 Il y était écrit: Le bruit se répand parmi les nations et Gaschmu affirme que toi et les Juifs vous pensez à vous révolter, et que c'est dans ce but que tu rebâtis la muraille. Tu vas, dit-on, devenir leur roi,(F) Neh 6:6 Darin war geschrieben: Es ist vor die Heiden gekommen, und Gesem hat's gesagt, daß du und die Juden gedenkt abzufallen, darum du die Mauer baust, und wollest also König werden;(D) Neh 6:6 καὶ ἦν γεγραμμένον ἐν αὐτῇ ἐν ἔθνεσιν ἠκούσθη ὅτι σὺ καὶ οἱ Ιουδαῖοι λογίζεσθε ἀποστατῆσαι διὰ τοῦτο σὺ οἰκοδομεῖς τὸ τεῖχος καὶ σὺ γίνῃ αὐτοῖς εἰς βασιλέα(lxx) Neh 6:6 In it was written: It is reported among the nations, and Geshem says, that you and the Jews plan to rebel; therefore, according to these rumors, you are rebuilding the wall, that you may be their king.(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:7 ============ Neh 6:7 You have also appointed prophets to proclaim in Jerusalem concerning you, 'A king is in Judah!' And now it will be reported to the king according to these reports. So come now, let us take counsel together."(nasb) Neh 6:7 et prophetas posueris, qui prædicent de te in Jerusalem, dicentes: Rex in Judæa est. Auditurus est rex verba hæc: idcirco nunc veni, ut ineamus consilium pariter.(vulgate) Nehemías 6:7 Y que has puesto profetas que prediquen de ti en Jerusalén, diciendo: ¡Hay rey en Judá! Y ahora serán oídas del rey las tales palabras; ven por tanto, y consultemos juntos.(E) Néhémie 6:7 tu as même établi des prophètes pour te proclamer à Jérusalem roi de Juda. Et maintenant ces choses arriveront à la connaissance du roi. So komm nun und laß uns miteinander ratschlagen!(D) Neh 6:7 καὶ πρὸς τούτοις προφήτας ἔστησας σεαυτῷ ἵνα καθίσῃς ἐν Ιερουσαλημ εἰς βασιλέα ἐν Ιουδα καὶ νῦν ἀπαγγελήσονται τῷ βασιλεῖ οἱ λόγοι οὗτοι καὶ νῦν δεῦρο βουλευσώμεθα ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό(lxx) Neh 6:7 And you have also appointed prophets to proclaim concerning you at Jerusalem, saying, "There is a king in Judah!" Now these matters will be reported to the king. So come, therefore, and let us consult together.(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:8 ============ Neh 6:8 Then I sent a message to him saying, "Such things as you are saying have not been done, but you are inventing them in your own mind."(nasb) Neh 6:8 Et misi ad eos, dicens: Non est factum secundum verba hæc, quæ tu loqueris: de corde enim tuo tu componis hæc.(vulgate) Nehemías 6:8 Entonces envié yo a decirles: No hay tal cosa como dices, sino que de tu corazón tú lo inventas.(E) Néhémie 6:8 Je fis répondre à Sanballat: Ce que tu dis là n'est pas; c'est toi qui l'inventes!(F) Neh 6:8 Ich aber sandte zu ihm und ließ ihm sagen: Solches ist nicht geschehen, was du sagst; du hast es aus deinem Herzen erdacht.(D) Neh 6:8 καὶ ἀπέστειλα πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων οὐκ ἐγενήθη ὡς οἱ λόγοι οὗτοι οὓς σὺ λέγεις ὅτι ἀπὸ καρδίας σου σὺ ψεύδῃ αὐτούς(lxx) Neh 6:8 Then I sent to him, saying, "No such things as you say are being done, but you invent them in your own heart."(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:9 ============ Neh 6:9 For all of them were trying to frighten us, thinking, "They will become discouraged with the work and it will not be done." But now, O God, strengthen my hands.(nasb) Neh 6:9 Omnes enim hi terrebant nos, cogitantes quod cessarent manus nostræ ab opere, et quiesceremus: quam ob causam magis confortavi manus meas.~(vulgate) Nehemías 6:9 Porque todos ellos nos intimidaban, diciendo: Se debilitarán las manos de ellos en la obra, y no será hecha. Ahora, pues, oh Dios, fortalece mis manos.(E) Néhémie 6:9 Tous ces gens voulaient nous effrayer, et ils se disaient: Ils perdront courage, et l'oeuvre ne se fera pas. Maintenant, ô Dieu, fortifie-moi!(F) Neh 6:9 Denn sie alle wollen uns furchtsam machen und gedachten: Sie sollen die Hand abtun vom Geschäft, daß es nicht fertig werde, aber nun stärke meine Hände!(D) Neh 6:9 ὅτι πάντες φοβερίζουσιν ἡμᾶς λέγοντες ἐκλυθήσονται αἱ χεῖρες αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἔργου τούτου καὶ οὐ ποιηθήσεται καὶ νῦν ἐκραταίωσα τὰς χεῖράς μου(lxx) Neh 6:9 For they all were trying to make us afraid, saying, "Their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will not be done."Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:10 ============ Neh 6:10 When I entered the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah, son of Mehetabel, who was confined at home, he said, "Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to kill you, and they are coming to kill you at night."(nasb) Neh 6:10 Et ingressus sum domum Semaiæ filii Dalaiæ filii Metabeel secreto. Qui ait: Tractemus nobiscum in domo Dei in medio templi, et claudamus portas ædis: quia venturi sunt ut interficiant te, et nocte venturi sunt ad occidendum te.(vulgate) Nehemías 6:10 Vine luego a casa de Semaías hijo de Delaías, hijo de Mehetabel, porque él estaba encerrado; el cual me dijo: Reunámonos en la casa de Dios dentro del templo, y cerremos las puertas del templo, porque vienen para matarte; sí, esta noche vendrán a matarte.(E) Néhémie 6:10 Je me rendis chez Schemaeja, fils de Delaja, fils de Mehétabeel. Il s'était enfermé, et il dit: Allons ensemble dans la maison de Dieu, au milieu du temple, et fermons les portes du temple; car ils viennent pour te tuer, et c'est pendant la nuit qu'ils viendront pour te tuer.(F) Neh 6:10 Und ich kam in das Haus Semajas, des Sohnes Delajas, des Sohnes Mehetabeels; und er hatte sich verschlossen und sprach: Laß uns zusammenkommen im Hause Gottes mitten im Tempel und die Türen zuschließen; denn sie werden kommen, dich zu erwürgen, und werden bei der Nacht kommen, daß sie dich erwürgen.(D) Neh 6:10 καὶ ἐγὼ εἰσῆλθον εἰς οἶκον Σεμεϊ υἱοῦ Δαλαια υἱοῦ Μεηταβηλ καὶ αὐτὸς συνεχόμενος καὶ εἶπεν συναχθῶμεν εἰς οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ κλείσωμεν τὰς θύρας αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἔρχονται νυκτὸς φονεῦσαί σε(lxx) Neh 6:10 Afterward I came to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was a secret informer; and he said, "Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to kill you; indeed, at night they will come to kill you."(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:11 ============ Neh 6:11 But I said, "Should a man like me flee? And could one such as I go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in."(nasb) Neh 6:11 Et dixi: Num quisquam similis mei fugit? et quis ut ego ingredietur templum, et vivet? non ingrediar.(vulgate) Nehemías 6:11 Entonces dije: ¿Un hombre como yo ha de huir? ¿Y quién, que fuera como yo, entraría al templo para salvar su vida? ¡No entraré!(E) Néhémie 6:11 Je répondis: Un homme comme moi prendre la fuite! Et quel homme tel que moi pourrait entrer dans le temple et vivre? Je n'entrerai point.(F) Neh 6:11 Ich aber sprach: Sollte ein solcher Mann fliehen? Sollte ein solcher Mann, wie ich bin, in den Tempel gehen, daß er lebendig bleibe? Ich will nicht hineingehen.(D) Neh 6:11 καὶ εἶπα τίς ἐστιν ὁ ἀνήρ ὃς εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὸν οἶκον καὶ ζήσεται(lxx) Neh 6:11 And I said, "Should such a man as I flee? And who is there such as I who would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in!"(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:12 ============ Neh 6:12 Then I perceived that surely God had not sent him, but he uttered his prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.(nasb) Neh 6:12 Et intellexi quod Deus non misisset eum, sed quasi vaticinans locutus esset ad me, et Tobias et Sanaballat conduxissent eum.(vulgate) Nehemías 6:12 Y entendí que Dios no lo había enviado, sino que hablaba aquella profecía contra mí, porque Tobías y Sanbalat le habían alquilado por salario.(E) Néhémie 6:12 Et je reconnus que ce n'était pas Dieu qui l'envoyait. Mais il prophétisa ainsi sur moi parce que Sanballat et Tobija lui avaient donné de l'argent.(F) Neh 6:12 Denn ich merkte, daß ihn Gott nicht gesandt hatte. Denn er sagte wohl Weissagung auf mich; aber Tobia und Saneballat hatten ihm Geld gegeben.(D) Neh 6:12 καὶ ἐπέγνων καὶ ἰδοὺ ὁ θεὸς οὐκ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτόν ὅτι ἡ προφητεία λόγος κατ᾽ ἐμοῦ καὶ Τωβιας καὶ Σαναβαλλατ ἐμισθώσαντο(lxx) Neh 6:12 Then I perceived that God had not sent him at all, but that he pronounced this prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:13 ============ Neh 6:13 He was hired for this reason, that I might become frightened and act accordingly and sin, so that they might have an evil report in order that they could reproach me.(nasb) Neh 6:13 Acceperat enim pretium, ut territus facerem, et peccarem, et haberent malum quod exprobrarent mihi.(vulgate) Nehemías 6:13 Porque fue sobornado para que yo fuese intimidado e hiciese así, y que pecase, y les sirviese de mal nombre con que fuera yo infamado.(E) Néhémie 6:13 En le gagnant ainsi, ils espéraient que j'aurais peur, et que je suivrais ses avis et commettrais un péché; et ils auraient profité de cette atteinte à ma réputation pour me couvrir d'opprobre.(F) Neh 6:13 Darum nahm er Geld, auf daß ich mich fürchten sollte und also tun und sündigen, daß sie ein böses Gerücht hätten, damit sie mich lästern möchten.(D) Neh 6:13 ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ὄχλον ὅπως φοβηθῶ καὶ ποιήσω οὕτως καὶ ἁμάρτω καὶ γένωμαι αὐτοῖς εἰς ὄνομα πονηρόν ὅπως ὀνειδίσωσίν με(lxx) Neh 6:13 For this reason he was hired, that I should be afraid and act that way and sin, so that they might have cause for an evil report, that they might reproach me.(nkjv) ======= Nehemiah 6:14 ============ Neh 6:14 Remember, O my God, Tobiah and Sanballat according to these works of theirs, and also Noadiah the prophetess and the rest of the prophets who were trying to frighten me.(nasb) Neh 6:14 Memento mei, Domine, pro Tobia et Sanaballat, juxta opera eorum talia: sed et Noadiæ prophetæ, et ceterorum prophetarum, qui terrebant me.~(vulgate) Nehemías 6:14 Acuérdate, Dios mío, de Tobías y de Sanbalat, conforme a estas sus obras, y también de Noadías profetisa, y de los otros profetas que trataban de intimidarme.(E) Néhémie 6:14 Souviens-toi, ô mon Dieu, de Tobija et de Sanballat, et de leurs oeuvres! for they recognized that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.(nasb) Neh 6:16 Factum est ergo cum audissent omnes inimici nostri, ut timerent universæ gentes quæ erant in circuitu nostro, et conciderent intra semetipsos, et scirent quod a Deo factum esset opus hoc.(vulgate) Nehemías 6:16 Y sucedió que cuando lo oyeron todos nuestros enemigos, temieron todas las naciones que estaban en nuestros alrededores, y se sintieron muy humillados ante sus propios ojos, y conocieron que esta obra había sido hecha por nuestro Dios.(E) Néhémie 6:16 Lorsque tous nos ennemis l'apprirent, toutes les nations qui étaient autour de nous furent dans la crainte; elles éprouvèrent une grande humiliation, et reconnurent que l'oeuvre s'était accomplie par la volonté de notre Dieu.(F) Neh 6:16 Und da alle unsre Feinde das hörten, fürchteten sich alle Heiden, die um uns her waren, und der Mut entfiel ihnen; denn sie merkten, daß dies Werk von Gott war.(D) Neh 6:16 καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἤκουσαν πάντες οἱ ἐχθροὶ ἡμῶν καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τὰ κύκλῳ ἡμῶν καὶ ἐπέπεσεν φόβος σφόδρα ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἔγνωσαν ὅτι παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἐγενήθη τελειωθῆναι τὸ ἔργον τοῦτο(lxx) Neh 6:16 And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, that they were very disheartened in their own eyes;
