Today's Date: ======= Esther 9:1 ============ Est 9:1 Now in the twelfth month (that is, the month Adar), on the thirteenth day when the king's command and edict were about to be executed, on the day when the enemies of the Jews hoped to gain the mastery over them, it was turned to the contrary so that the Jews themselves gained the mastery over those who hated them.(nasb) Est 9:1 Igitur duodecimi mensis, quem Adar vocari ante jam diximus, tertiadecima die, quando cunctis Judæis interfectio parabatur, et hostes eorum inhiabant sanguini, versa vice Judæi superiores esse cœperunt, et se de adversariis vindicare.(vulgate) Esther 9:1 Y en el mes duodécimo que [es] el mes de Adar, al día trece del mismo, en el que tocaba se ejecutase el mandamiento del rey y su ley, el mismo día en que esperaban los enemigos de los judíos enseñorearse de ellos, fue lo contrario; porque los judíos se enseñorearon de sus enemigos.(E) Esther 9:1 Au douzième mois, qui est le mois d'Adar, le treizième jour du mois, jour où devaient s'exécuter l'ordre et l'édit du roi, et où les ennemis des Juifs avaient espéré dominer sur eux, ce fut le contraire qui arriva, et les Juifs dominèrent sur leurs ennemis.(F) Est 9:1 Im zwölften Monat, das ist der Monat Adar, am dreizehnten Tag, den des Königs Wort und Gebot bestimmt hatte, daß man's tun sollte, ebendesselben Tages, da die Feinde der Juden hofften, sie zu überwältigen, wandte sich's, daß die Juden ihre Feinde überwältigen sollten.(D) Est 9:1 ἐν γὰρ τῷ δωδεκάτῳ μηνὶ τρισκαιδεκάτῃ τοῦ μηνός ὅς ἐστιν Αδαρ παρῆν τὰ γράμματα τὰ γραφέντα ὑπὸ τοῦ βασιλέως(lxx) Est 9:1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar, on the thirteenth day, the time came for the king's command and his decree to be executed. On the day that the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, the opposite occurred, in that the Jews themselves overpowered those who hated them.(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:2 ============ Est 9:2 The Jews assembled in their cities throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus to lay hands on those who sought their harm; and no one could stand before them, for the dread of them had fallen on all the peoples.(nasb) Est 9:2 Congregatique sunt per singulas civitates, oppida, et loca, ut extenderent manum contra inimicos, et persecutores suos. Nullusque ausus est resistere, eo quod omnes populos magnitudinis eorum formido penetrarat.(vulgate) Esther 9:2 Los judíos se reunieron en sus ciudades en todas las provincias del rey Asuero, para echar mano sobre los que habían procurado su mal; y nadie pudo contra ellos, porque el temor de ellos había caído sobre todos los pueblos.(E) Esther 9:2 Les Juifs se rassemblèrent dans leurs villes, dans toutes les provinces du roi Assuérus, pour mettre la main sur ceux qui cherchaient leur perte; et personne ne put leur résister, car la crainte qu'on avait d'eux s'était emparée de tous les peuples.(F) Est 9:2 Da versammelten sich die Juden in ihren Städten in allen Landen des Königs Ahasveros, daß sie die Hand legten an die, so ihnen übel wollten. Und niemand konnte ihnen widerstehen; denn ihre Furcht war über alle Völker gekommen.(D) Est 9:2 ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἀπώλοντο οἱ ἀντικείμενοι τοῖς Ιουδαίοις οὐδεὶς γὰρ ἀντέστη φοβούμενος αὐτούς(lxx) Est 9:2 The Jews gathered together in their cities throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus to lay hands on those who sought their harm. And no one could withstand them, because fear of them fell upon all people.(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:3 ============ Est 9:3 Even all the princes of the provinces, the satraps, the governors and those who were doing the king's business assisted the Jews, because the dread of Mordecai had fallen on them.(nasb) Est 9:3 Nam et provinciarum judices, et duces, et procuratores, omnisque dignitas quæ singulis locis ac operibus præerat, extollebant Judæos timore Mardochæi,(vulgate) Esther 9:3 Y todos los príncipes de las provincias, los sátrapas, capitanes, y oficiales del rey ayudaban a los judíos; porque el temor de Mardoqueo había caído sobre ellos.(E) Esther 9:3 Et tous les chefs des provinces, les satrapes, les gouverneurs, les fonctionnaires du roi, soutinrent les Juifs, à cause de l'effroi que leur inspirait Mardochée.(F) Est 9:3 Auch alle Obersten in den Landen und Fürsten und Landpfleger und Amtleute des Königs halfen den Juden; denn die Furcht vor Mardochai war über sie gekommen.(D) Est 9:3 οἱ γὰρ ἄρχοντες τῶν σατραπῶν καὶ οἱ τύραννοι καὶ οἱ βασιλικοὶ γραμματεῖς ἐτίμων τοὺς Ιουδαίους ὁ γὰρ φόβος Μαρδοχαίου ἐνέκειτο αὐτοῖς(lxx) Est 9:3 And all the officials of the provinces, the satraps, the governors, and all those doing the king's work, helped the Jews, because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:4 ============ Est 9:4 Indeed, Mordecai was great in the king's house, and his fame spread throughout all the provinces; for the man Mordecai became greater and greater.(nasb) Est 9:4 quem principem esse palatii, et plurimum posse cognoverant: fama quoque nominis ejus crescebat quotidie, et per cunctorum ora volitabat.(vulgate) Esther 9:4 Pues Mardoqueo [era] grande en la casa del rey, y su fama iba por todas las provincias; for this man Mordecai became increasingly prominent.(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:5 ============ Est 9:5 Thus the Jews struck all their enemies with the sword, killing and destroying; and they did what they pleased to those who hated them.(nasb) Est 9:5 Itaque percusserunt Judæi inimicos suos plaga magna, et occiderunt eos, reddentes eis quod sibi paraverant facere:(vulgate) Esther 9:5 E hirieron los judíos a todos sus enemigos a golpe de espada, de mortandad y de destrucción; What then have they done in the rest of the king's provinces! Now what is your petition? It shall even be granted you. And what is your further request? It shall also be done."(nasb) Est 9:12 Qui dixit reginæ: In urbe Susan interfecerunt Judæi quingentos viros, et alios decem filios Aman: quantam putas eos exercere cædem in universis provinciis? quid ultra postulas, et quid vis ut fieri jubeam?(vulgate) Esther 9:12 Y el rey dijo a la reina Esther: Los judíos han matado y destruido a quinientos hombres en Susán, capital del reino, y a los diez hijos de Amán; ¿qué habrán hecho en las otras provincias del rey? ¿Cuál, pues, es tu petición? Y te será concedida; ¿o qué más es tu demanda? y será hecho.(E) Esther 9:12 Et le roi dit à la reine Esther: Les Juifs ont tué et fait périr dans Suse, la capitale, cinq cents hommes et les dix fils d'Haman; qu'auront-ils fait dans le reste des provinces du roi? Quelle est ta demande? Elle te sera accordée. Que désires-tu encore? Tu l'obtiendras.(F) Est 9:12 Und der König sprach zu der Königin Est r: Die Juden haben zu Schloß Susan fünfhundert Mann erwürgt und umgebracht und die zehn Söhne Hamans; was werden sie tun in den andern Ländern des Königs? was bittest du, daß man dir gebe? und was forderst du mehr, daß man tue?(D) Est 9:12 εἶπεν δὲ ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς Εσθηρ ἀπώλεσαν οἱ Ιουδαῖοι ἐν Σούσοις τῇ πόλει ἄνδρας πεντακοσίους ἐν δὲ τῇ περιχώρῳ πῶς οἴει ἐχρήσαντο τί οὖν ἀξιοῖς ἔτι καὶ ἔσται σοι(lxx) Est 9:12 And the king said to Queen Esther, "The Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the citadel, and the ten sons of Haman. What have they done in the rest of the king's provinces? Now what is your petition? It shall be granted to you. Or what is your further request? It shall be done."(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:13 ============ Est 9:13 Then said Esther, "If it pleases the king, let tomorrow also be granted to the Jews who are in Susa to do according to the edict of today; and let Haman's ten sons be hanged on the gallows."(nasb) Est 9:13 Cui illa respondit: Si regi placet, detur potestas Judæis, ut sicut fecerunt hodie in Susan, sic et cras faciant, et decem filii Aman in patibulis suspendantur.(vulgate) Esther 9:13 Y respondió Esther: Si place al rey, concédase también mañana a los judíos en Susán, que hagan conforme al decreto de hoy; y que cuelguen en la horca a los diez hijos de Amán.(E) Esther 9:13 Esther répondit: Si le roi le trouve bon, qu'il soit permis aux Juifs qui sont à Suse d'agir encore demain selon le décret d'aujourd'hui, et que l'on pende au bois les dix fils d'Haman.(F) Est 9:13 Est r sprach: Gefällt's dem König, so lasse er auch morgen die Juden tun nach dem heutigen Gebot, und die zehn Söhne Hamans soll man an den Baum hängen.(D) Est 9:13 καὶ εἶπεν Εσθηρ τῷ βασιλεῖ δοθήτω τοῖς Ιουδαίοις χρῆσθαι ὡσαύτως τὴν αὔριον ὥστε τοὺς δέκα υἱοὺς κρεμάσαι Αμαν(lxx) Est 9:13 Then Esther said, "If it pleases the king, let it be granted to the Jews who are in Shushan to do again tomorrow according to today's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged on the gallows."(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:14 ============ Est 9:14 So the king commanded that it should be done so; and an edict was issued in Susa, and Haman's ten sons were hanged.(nasb) Est 9:14 Præcepitque rex ut ita fieret. Mais ils ne mirent pas la main au pillage.(F) Est 9:15 Und die Juden zu Susan versammelten sich auch am vierzehnten Tage des Monats Adar und erwürgten zu Susan dreihundert Mann; aber an ihre Güter legten sie ihre Hände nicht.(D) Est 9:15 καὶ συνήχθησαν οἱ Ιουδαῖοι ἐν Σούσοις τῇ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτῃ τοῦ Αδαρ καὶ ἀπέκτειναν ἄνδρας τριακοσίους καὶ οὐδὲν διήρπασαν(lxx) Est 9:15 And the Jews who were in Shushan gathered together again on the fourteenth day of the month of Adar and killed three hundred men at Shushan; but they did not lay a hand on the plunder.(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:16 ============ Est 9:16 Now the rest of the Jews who were in the king's provinces assembled, to defend their lives and rid themselves of their enemies, and kill 75,000 of those who hated them; but they did not lay their hands on the plunder.(nasb) Est 9:16 Sed et per omnes provincias quæ ditioni regis subjacebant, pro animabus suis steterunt Judæi, interfectis hostibus ac persecutoribus suis: in tantum ut septuaginta quinque millia occisorum implerentur, et nullus de substantiis eorum quidquam contingeret.(vulgate) Esther 9:16 En cuanto a los otros judíos que [estaban] en las provincias del rey, también se reunieron y se pusieron en defensa de su vida, y tuvieron reposo de sus enemigos, y mataron de sus contrarios a setenta y cinco mil; mas en el despojo no metieron su mano.(E) Esther 9:16 Les autres Juifs qui étaient dans les provinces du roi se rassemblèrent et défendirent leur vie; ils se procurèrent du repos en se délivrant de leurs ennemis, et ils tuèrent soixante-quinze mille de ceux qui leur étaient hostiles. Mais ils ne mirent pas la main au pillage.(F) Est 9:16 Aber die andern Juden in den Ländern des Königs kamen zusammen und standen für ihr Leben, daß sie Ruhe schafften vor ihren Feinden, und erwürgten ihrer Feinde fünfundsiebzigtausend; aber an ihre Güter legten sie ihre Hände nicht.(D) Est 9:16 οἱ δὲ λοιποὶ τῶν Ιουδαίων οἱ ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ συνήχθησαν καὶ ἑαυτοῖς ἐβοήθουν καὶ ἀνεπαύσαντο ἀπὸ τῶν πολεμίων ἀπώλεσαν γὰρ αὐτῶν μυρίους πεντακισχιλίους τῇ τρισκαιδεκάτῃ τοῦ Αδαρ καὶ οὐδὲν διήρπασαν(lxx) Est 9:16 The remainder of the Jews in the king's provinces gathered together and protected their lives, had rest from their enemies, and killed seventy-five thousand of their enemies; but they did not lay a hand on the plunder.(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:17 ============ Est 9:17 This was done on the thirteenth day of the month Adar, and on the fourteenth day they rested and made it a day of feasting and rejoicing.(nasb) Est 9:17 Dies autem tertiusdecimus mensis Adar primus apud omnes interfectionis fuit, et quartadecima die cædere desierunt. Quem constituerunt esse solemnem, ut in eo omni tempore deinceps vacarent epulis, gaudio, atque conviviis.(vulgate) Esther 9:17 Esto fue en el día trece del mes de Adar; y reposaron en el día catorce del mismo, y lo hicieron día de banquete y de alegría.(E) Esther 9:17 Ces choses arrivèrent le treizième jour du mois d'Adar. And on the fourteenth day of the month they rested and made it a day of feasting and gladness.(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:18 ============ Est 9:18 But the Jews who were in Susa assembled on the thirteenth and the fourteenth of the same month, and they rested on the fifteenth day and made it a day of feasting and rejoicing.(nasb) Est 9:18 At hi, qui in urbe Susan cædem exercuerant, tertiodecimo et quartodecimo die ejusdem mensis in cæde versati sunt: quintodecimo autem die percutere desierunt. Therefore, because of all the words of this letter, what they had seen concerning this matter, and what had happened to them,(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:27 ============ Est 9:27 the Jews established and made a custom for themselves and for their descendants and for all those who allied themselves with them, so that they would not fail to celebrate these two days according to their regulation and according to their appointed time annually.(nasb) Est 9:27 quæque sustinuerunt, et quæ deinceps immutata sunt, susceperunt Judæi super se et semen suum, et super cunctos qui religioni eorum voluerunt copulari, ut nulli liceat duos hos dies absque solemnitate transigere, quos scriptura testatur, et certa expetunt tempora, annis sibi jugiter succedentibus.(vulgate) Esther 9:27 Los judíos ordenaron y tomaron sobre sí, y sobre su simiente, y sobre todos los que se aliaron con ellos, y no será traspasado; que habrían de celebrar estos dos días según está escrito tocante a ellos, conforme [a su tiempo] cada año;(E) Esther 9:27 les Juifs prirent pour eux, pour leur postérité, et pour tous ceux qui s'attacheraient à eux, la résolution et l'engagement irrévocables de célébrer chaque année ces deux jours, selon le mode prescrit et au temps fixé.(F) Est 9:27 richteten die Juden es auf und nahmen's auf sich und auf ihre Nachkommen und auf alle, die sich zu ihnen taten, daß sie nicht unterlassen wollten, zu halten diese zwei Tage jährlich, wie die vorgeschrieben und bestimmt waren;(D) Est 9:27 καὶ ἔστησεν καὶ προσεδέχοντο οἱ Ιουδαῖοι ἐφ᾽ ἑαυτοῖς καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπὶ τοῖς προστεθειμένοις ἐπ᾽ αὐτῶν οὐδὲ μὴν ἄλλως χρήσονται αἱ δὲ ἡμέραι αὗται μνημόσυνον ἐπιτελούμενον κατὰ γενεὰν καὶ γενεὰν καὶ πόλιν καὶ πατριὰν καὶ χώραν(lxx) Est 9:27 the Jews established and imposed it upon themselves and their descendants and all who would join them, that without fail they should celebrate these two days every year, according to the written instructions and according to the prescribed time,(nkjv) ======= Esther 9:28 ============ Est 9:28 So these days were to be remembered and celebrated throughout every generation, every family, every province and every city; and these days of Purim were not to fail from among the Jews, or their memory fade from their descendants.(nasb) Est 9:28 Isti sunt dies, quos nulla umquam delebit oblivio, et per singulas generationes cunctæ in toto orbe provinciæ celebrabunt: nec est ulla civitas, in qua dies phurim, id est sortium, non observentur a Judæis, et ab eorum progenie, quæ his cæremoniis obligata est.(vulgate) Esther 9:28 y [que] estos dos días [serían] recordados y celebrados por todas las generaciones, familias, provincias y ciudades; y que estos días de Purim no dejarían de celebrarse entre los judíos, ni su memoria cesaría entre su simiente.(E) Esther 9:28 Ces jours devaient être rappelés et célébrés de génération en génération, dans chaque famille, dans chaque province et dans chaque ville; et ces jours de Purim ne devaient jamais être abolis au milieu des Juifs, ni le souvenir s'en effacer parmi leurs descendants.(F) Est 9:28 daß diese Tage nicht vergessen, sondern zu halten seien bei Kindeskindern, bei allen Geschlechtern, in allen Ländern und Städten.
