Today's Date: ======= Exodus 21:1 ============ Exo 21:1 Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.(KJV) Exodus 21:1 Now these are the lawes, which thou shalt set before them:(Geneva) Exode 21:1 Voici les lois que tu leur présenteras.(FR) 1 ׃21 וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר תָּשִׂ֖ים לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ Exodus Exo 21:1 "Now these are the ordinances which you are to set before them:(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:2 ============ Exo 21:2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.(KJV) Exodus 21:2 If thou bye an Ebrewe seruant, he shall serue sixe yeres, and in the seuenth he shal go out free, for nothing.(Geneva) Exode 21:2 Si tu achètes un esclave hébreu, il servira six années; mais la septième, il sortira libre, sans rien payer.(FR) 2 ׃21 כִּ֤י תִקְנֶה֙ עֶ֣בֶד עִבְרִ֔י שֵׁ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים יַעֲבֹ֑ד וּבַ֨שְּׁבִעִ֔ת יֵצֵ֥א לַֽחָפְשִׁ֖י חִנָּֽם׃ Exodus Exo 21:2 "If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve for six years; but on the seventh he shall go out as a free man without payment.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:3 ============ Exo 21:3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.(KJV) Exodus 21:3 If he came himselfe alone, he shall goe out himselfe alone: if hee were married, then his wife shall go out with him.(Geneva) Exode 21:3 S'il est entré seul, il sortira seul; s'il avait une femme, sa femme sortira avec lui.(FR) 3 ׃21 אִם־בְּגַפּ֥וֹ יָבֹ֖א בְּגַפּ֣וֹ יֵצֵ֑א אִם־בַּ֤עַל אִשָּׁה֙ ה֔וּא וְיָצְאָ֥ה אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ עִמּֽוֹ׃ Exodus Exo 21:3 If he comes alone, he shall go out alone; if he is the husband of a wife, then his wife shall go out with him.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:4 ============ Exo 21:4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.(KJV) Exodus 21:4 If his master haue giuen him a wife, and she hath borne him sonnes or daughters, he wife and her children shalbe her masters, but he shall goe out himselfe alone.(Geneva) Exode 21:4 Si c'est son maître qui lui a donné une femme, et qu'il en ait eu des fils ou des filles, la femme et ses enfants seront à son maître, et il sortira seul.(FR) 4 ׃21 אִם־אֲדֹנָיו֙ יִתֶּן־ל֣וֹ אִשָּׁ֔ה וְיָלְדָה־ל֥וֹ בָנִ֖ים א֣וֹ בָנ֑וֹת הָאִשָּׁ֣ה וִילָדֶ֗יהָ תִּהְיֶה֙ לַֽאדֹנֶ֔יהָ וְה֖וּא יֵצֵ֥א בְגַפּֽוֹ׃ Exodus Exo 21:4 If his master gives him a wife, and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall belong to her master, and he shall go out alone.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:5 ============ Exo 21:5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:(KJV) Exodus 21:5 But if the seruant saye thus, I loue my master, my wife and my children, I will not goe out free,(Geneva) Exode 21:5 Si l'esclave dit: J'aime mon maître, ma femme et mes enfants, je ne veux pas sortir libre, -(FR) 5 ׃21 וְאִם־אָמֹ֤ר יֹאמַר֙ הָעֶ֔בֶד אָהַ֙בְתִּי֙ אֶת־אֲדֹנִ֔י אֶת־אִשְׁתִּ֖י וְאֶת־בָּנָ֑י לֹ֥א אֵצֵ֖א חָפְשִֽׁי׃ Exodus Exo 21:5 But if the slave plainly says, 'I love my master, my wife and my children; I will not go out as a free man,'(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:6 ============ Exo 21:6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.(KJV) Exodus 21:6 Then his master shall bring him vnto the Iudges, & set him to the dore, or to the poste, and his master shall bore his eare through with a nawle, and he shall serue him for euer.(Geneva) Exode 21:6 alors son maître le conduira devant Dieu, et le fera approcher de la porte ou du poteau, et son maître lui percera l'oreille avec un poinçon, et l'esclave sera pour toujours à son service.(FR) 6 ׃21 וְהִגִּישׁ֤וֹ אֲדֹנָיו֙ אֶל־הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים וְהִגִּישׁוֹ֙ אֶל־הַדֶּ֔לֶת א֖וֹ אֶל־הַמְּזוּזָ֑ה וְרָצַ֨ע אֲדֹנָ֤יו אֶת־אָזְנוֹ֙ בַּמַּרְצֵ֔עַ וַעֲבָד֖וֹ לְעֹלָֽם׃ ס Exodus Exo 21:6 then his master shall bring him to God, then he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him permanently.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:7 ============ Exo 21:7 And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.(KJV) Exodus 21:7 Likewise if a man sell his daughter to be a seruant, she shal not goe out as the men seruantes doe.(Geneva) Exode 21:7 Si un homme vend sa fille pour être esclave, elle ne sortira point comme sortent les esclaves.(FR) 7 ׃21 וְכִֽי־יִמְכֹּ֥ר אִ֛ישׁ אֶת־בִּתּ֖וֹ לְאָמָ֑ה לֹ֥א תֵצֵ֖א כְּצֵ֥את הָעֲבָדִֽים׃ Exodus Exo 21:7 "If a man sells his daughter as a female slave, she is not to go free as the male slaves do.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:8 ============ Exo 21:8 If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.(KJV) Exodus 21:8 If shee please not her master, who hath betrothed her to him selfe, then shall hee cause to buy her: hee shall haue no power to sell her to a strange people, seeing he despised her.(Geneva) Exode 21:8 Si elle déplaît à son maître, qui s'était proposé de la prendre pour femme, il facilitera son rachat; mais il n'aura pas le pouvoir de la vendre à des étrangers, après lui avoir été infidèle.(FR) 8 ׃21 אִם־רָעָ֞ה בְּעֵינֵ֧י אֲדֹנֶ֛יהָ אֲשֶׁר־*לא **ל֥וֹ יְעָדָ֖הּ וְהֶפְדָּ֑הּ לְעַ֥ם נָכְרִ֛י לֹא־יִמְשֹׁ֥ל לְמָכְרָ֖הּ בְּבִגְדוֹ־בָֽהּ׃ Exodus Exo 21:8 If she is displeasing in the eyes of her master who designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He does not have authority to sell her to a foreign people because of his unfairness to her.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:9 ============ Exo 21:9 And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.(KJV) Exodus 21:9 But if he hath betrothed her vnto his sonne, he shal deale with her according to the custome of the daughters.(Geneva) Exode 21:9 S'il la destine à son fils, il agira envers elle selon le droit des filles.(FR) 9 ׃21 וְאִם־לִבְנ֖וֹ יִֽיעָדֶ֑נָּה כְּמִשְׁפַּ֥ט הַבָּנ֖וֹת יַעֲשֶׂה־לָּֽה׃ Exodus Exo 21:9 If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her according to the custom of daughters.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:10 ============ Exo 21:10 If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.(KJV) Exodus 21:10 If he take him another wife, he shall not diminish her foode, her rayment, and recompence of her virginitie.(Geneva) Exode 21:10 S'il prend une autre femme, il ne retranchera rien pour la première à la nourriture, au vêtement, et au droit conjugal.(FR) 10 ׃21 אִם־אַחֶ֖רֶת יִֽקַּֽח־ל֑וֹ שְׁאֵרָ֛הּ כְּסוּתָ֥הּ וְעֹנָתָ֖הּ לֹ֥א יִגְרָֽע׃ Exodus Exo 21:10 If he takes to himself another woman, he may not reduce her food, her clothing, or her conjugal rights.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:11 ============ Exo 21:11 And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.(KJV) Exodus 21:11 And if he do not these three vnto her, the shall she go out free, paying no money.(Geneva) Exode 21:11 Et s'il ne fait pas pour elle ces trois choses, elle pourra sortir sans rien payer, sans donner de l'argent.(FR) 11 ׃21 וְאִם־שְׁלָ֨שׁ־אֵ֔לֶּה לֹ֥א יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה לָ֑הּ וְיָצְאָ֥ה חִנָּ֖ם אֵ֥ין כָּֽסֶף׃ ס Exodus Exo 21:11 If he will not do these three things for her, then she shall go out for nothing, without payment of money. (nasb) ======= Exodus 21:12 ============ Exo 21:12 He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.(KJV) Exodus 21:12 He that smiteth a man, and he die, shal dye the death.(Geneva) Exode 21:12 Celui qui frappera un homme mortellement sera puni de mort.(FR) 12 ׃21 מַכֵּ֥ה אִ֛ישׁ וָמֵ֖ת מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ Exodus Exo 21:12 "He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:13 ============ Exo 21:13 And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.(KJV) Exodus 21:13 And if a man hath not layed wayte, but God hath offered him into his hande, then I wil appoynt thee a place whither he shall flee.(Geneva) Exode 21:13 S'il ne lui a point dressé d'embûches, et que Dieu l'ait fait tomber sous sa main, je t'établirai un lieu où il pourra se réfugier.(FR) 13 ׃21 וַאֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א צָדָ֔ה וְהָאֱלֹהִ֖ים אִנָּ֣ה לְיָד֑וֹ וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י לְךָ֙ מָק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָנ֖וּס שָֽׁמָּה׃ ס Exodus Exo 21:13 But if he did not lie in wait for him, but God let him fall into his hand, then I will appoint you a place to which he may flee.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:14 ============ Exo 21:14 But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.(KJV) Exodus 21:14 But if a man come presumptuously vpon his neighbour to slay him with guile, thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.(Geneva) Exode 21:14 Mais si quelqu'un agit méchamment contre son prochain, en employant la ruse pour le tuer, tu l'arracheras même de mon autel, pour le faire mourir.(FR) 14 ׃21 וְכִֽי־יָזִ֥ד אִ֛ישׁ עַל־רֵעֵ֖הוּ לְהָרְג֣וֹ בְעָרְמָ֑ה מֵעִ֣ם מִזְבְּחִ֔י תִּקָּחֶ֖נּוּ לָמֽוּת׃ ס Exodus Exo 21:14 If, however, a man acts presumptuously toward his neighbor, so as to kill him craftily, you are to take him even from My altar, that he may die.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:15 ============ Exo 21:15 And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.(KJV) Exodus 21:15 Also hee that smiteth his father or his mother, shall die the death.(Geneva) Exode 21:15 Celui qui frappera son père ou sa mère sera puni de mort.(FR) 15 ׃21 וּמַכֵּ֥ה אָבִ֛יו וְאִמּ֖וֹ מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ Exodus Exo 21:15 "He who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:16 ============ Exo 21:16 And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.(KJV) Exodus 21:16 And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, if it be founde with him, shal die the death.(Geneva) Exode 21:16 Celui qui dérobera un homme, et qui l'aura vendu ou retenu entre ses mains, sera puni de mort.(FR) 16 ׃21 וְגֹנֵ֨ב אִ֧ישׁ וּמְכָר֛וֹ וְנִמְצָ֥א בְיָד֖וֹ מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ ס Exodus Exo 21:16 "He who kidnaps a man, whether he sells him or he is found in his possession, shall surely be put to death.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:17 ============ Exo 21:17 And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.(KJV) Exodus 21:17 And hee that curseth his father or his mother, shall die the death.(Geneva) Exode 21:17 Celui qui maudira son père ou sa mère sera puni de mort.(FR) 17 ׃21 וּמְקַלֵּ֥ל אָבִ֛יו וְאִמּ֖וֹ מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ ס Exodus Exo 21:17 "He who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:18 ============ Exo 21:18 And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:(KJV) Exodus 21:18 When men also striue together, and one smite another with a stone, or with the fist, and he die not, but lieth in bed,(Geneva) Exode 21:18 Si des hommes se querellent, et que l'un d'eux frappe l'autre avec une pierre ou avec le poing, sans causer sa mort, mais en l'obligeant à garder le lit,(FR) 18 ׃21 וְכִֽי־יְרִיבֻ֣ן אֲנָשִׁ֔ים וְהִכָּה־אִישׁ֙ אֶת־רֵעֵ֔הוּ בְּאֶ֖בֶן א֣וֹ בְאֶגְרֹ֑ף וְלֹ֥א יָמ֖וּת וְנָפַ֥ל לְמִשְׁכָּֽב׃ Exodus Exo 21:18 "If men have a quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone or with his fist, and he does not die but remains in bed,(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:19 ============ Exo 21:19 If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.(KJV) Exodus 21:19 If hee rise againe and walke without vpon his staffe, then shall he that smote him go quite, saue onely hee shall beare his charges for his resting, and shall pay for his healing.(Geneva) Exode 21:19 celui qui aura frappé ne sera point puni, dans le cas où l'autre viendrait à se lever et à se promener dehors avec son bâton. Seulement, il le dédommagera de son interruption de travail, et il le fera soigner jusqu'à sa guérison.(FR) 19 ׃21 אִם־יָק֞וּם וְהִתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בַּח֛וּץ עַל־מִשְׁעַנְתּ֖וֹ וְנִקָּ֣ה הַמַּכֶּ֑ה רַ֥ק שִׁבְתּ֛וֹ יִתֵּ֖ן וְרַפֹּ֥א יְרַפֵּֽא׃ ס Exodus Exo 21:19 if he gets up and walks around outside on his staff, then he who struck him shall go unpunished; he shall only pay for his loss of time, and shall take care of him until he is completely healed.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:20 ============ Exo 21:20 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; and he shall pay as the judges determine.(KJV) Exodus 21:22 Also if men striue and hurt a woman with childe, so that her childe depart from her, and death followe not, hee shall bee surely punished according as the womans husbande shall appoynt him, or he shall pay as the Iudges determine.(Geneva) Exode 21:22 Si des hommes se querellent, et qu'ils heurtent une femme enceinte, et la fassent accoucher, sans autre accident, ils seront punis d'une amende imposée par le mari de la femme, et qu'ils paieront devant les juges.(FR) 22 ׃21 וְכִֽי־יִנָּצ֣וּ אֲנָשִׁ֗ים וְנָ֨גְפ֜וּ אִשָּׁ֤ה הָרָה֙ וְיָצְא֣וּ יְלָדֶ֔יהָ וְלֹ֥א יִהְיֶ֖ה אָס֑וֹן עָנ֣וֹשׁ יֵעָנֵ֗שׁ כּֽ͏ַאֲשֶׁ֨ר יָשִׁ֤ית עָלָיו֙ בַּ֣עַל הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה וְנָתַ֖ן בִּפְלִלִֽים׃ Exodus Exo 21:22 "If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she gives birth prematurely, yet there is no injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:23 ============ Exo 21:23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,(KJV) Exodus 21:23 But if death followe, then thou shalt paye life for life,(Geneva) Exode 21:23 Mais s'il y a un accident, tu donneras vie pour vie,(FR) 23 ׃21 וְאִם־אָס֖וֹן יִהְיֶ֑ה וְנָתַתָּ֥ה נֶ֖פֶשׁ תַּ֥חַת נָֽפֶשׁ׃ Exodus Exo 21:23 But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life,(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:24 ============ Exo 21:24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,(KJV) Exodus 21:24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hande for hand, foote for foote,(Geneva) Exode 21:24 oeil pour oeil, dent pour dent, main pour main, pied pour pied,(FR) 24 ׃21 עַ֚יִן תַּ֣חַת עַ֔יִן שֵׁ֖ן תַּ֣חַת שֵׁ֑ן יָ֚ד תַּ֣חַת יָ֔ד רֶ֖גֶל תַּ֥חַת רָֽגֶל׃ Exodus Exo 21:24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:25 ============ Exo 21:25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.(KJV) Exodus 21:25 Burning for burning, wound for wounde, stripe for stripe.(Geneva) Exode 21:25 brûlure pour brûlure, blessure pour blessure, meurtrissure pour meurtrissure.(FR) 25 ׃21 כְּוִיָּה֙ תַּ֣חַת כְּוִיָּ֔ה פֶּ֖צַע תַּ֣חַת פָּ֑צַע חַבּוּרָ֕ה תַּ֖חַת חַבּוּרָֽה׃ ס Exodus Exo 21:25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:26 ============ Exo 21:26 And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.(KJV) Exodus 21:26 And if a man smite his seruant in the eie, or his maide in the eye, and hath perished it, hee shall let him goe free for his eye.(Geneva) Exode 21:26 Si un homme frappe l'oeil de son esclave, homme ou femme, et qu'il lui fasse perdre l'oeil, il le mettra en liberté, pour prix de son oeil.(FR) 26 ׃21 וְכִֽי־יַכֶּ֨ה אִ֜ישׁ אֶת־עֵ֥ין עַבְדּ֛וֹ אֽוֹ־אֶת־עֵ֥ין אֲמָת֖וֹ וְשִֽׁחֲתָ֑הּ לֽ͏ַחָפְשִׁ֥י יְשַׁלְּחֶ֖נּוּ תַּ֥חַת עֵינֽוֹ׃ ס Exodus Exo 21:26 "If a man strikes the eye of his male or female slave, and destroys it, he shall let him go free on account of his eye.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:27 ============ Exo 21:27 And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.(KJV) Exodus 21:27 Also if he smite out his seruants tooth, or his maides tooth, he shall let him goe out free for his tooth.(Geneva) Exode 21:27 Et s'il fait tomber une dent à son esclave, homme ou femme, il le mettra en liberté, pour prix de sa dent.(FR) 27 ׃21 וְאִם־שֵׁ֥ן עַבְדּ֛וֹ אֽוֹ־שֵׁ֥ן אֲמָת֖וֹ יַפִּ֑יל לֽ͏ַחָפְשִׁ֥י יְשַׁלְּחֶ֖נּוּ תַּ֥חַת שִׁנּֽוֹ׃ פ Exodus Exo 21:27 And if he knocks out a tooth of his male or female slave, he shall let him go free on account of his tooth.(nasb) ======= Exodus 21:28 ============ Exo 21:28 If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.(KJV) Exodus 21:28 If an oxe gore a man or a woman, that he die, the oxe shalbe stoned to death, and his flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner of the oxe shall goe quite.(Geneva) Exode 21:28 Si un boeuf frappe de ses cornes un homme ou une femme, et que la mort en soit la suite, le boeuf sera lapidé, sa chair ne sera point mangée, et le maître du boeuf ne sera point puni.(FR) 28 ׃21 וְכִֽי־יִגַּ֨ח שׁ֥וֹר אֶת־אִ֛ישׁ א֥וֹ אֶת־אִשָּׁ֖ה וָמֵ֑ת סָק֨וֹל יִסָּקֵ֜ל הַשּׁ֗וֹר וְלֹ֤א יֵאָכֵל֙ אֶת־בְּשָׂר֔וֹ וּבַ֥עַל הַשּׁ֖וֹר נָקִֽי׃ Exodus Exo 21:28 "If an ox gores a man or a woman to death, the ox shall surely be stoned and its flesh shall not be eaten;
