And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.(KJV) Ruth 1:1 In the time that the Iudges ruled, there was a dearth in the lande, and a man of Beth-lehem Iudah went for to soiourne in the countrey of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sonnes.(Geneva) Ruth 1:1 Du temps des juges, il y eut une famine dans le pays. Un homme de Bethléhem de Juda partit, avec sa femme et ses deux fils, pour faire un séjour dans le pays de Moab.(FR) 1 ׃1 וַיְהִ֗י בִּימֵי֙ שְׁפֹ֣ט הַשֹּׁפְטִ֔ים וַיְהִ֥י רָעָ֖ב בָּאָ֑רֶץ וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ אִ֜ישׁ מִבֵּ֧ית לֶ֣חֶם יְהוּדָ֗ה לָגוּר֙ בִּשְׂדֵ֣י מוֹאָ֔ב ה֥וּא וְאִשְׁתּ֖וֹ וּשְׁנֵ֥י בָנָֽיו׃ Ruth Rut 1:1 Now it came about in the days when the judges governed, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn in the land of Moab with his wife and his two sons.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:2 ============ Rut 1:2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.(KJV) Ruth 1:2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife, Naomi: and the names of his two sonnes, Mahlon, and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth-lehem Iudah: and when they came into the land of Moab, they continued there.(Geneva) Ruth 1:2 Le nom de cet homme était Elimélec, celui de sa femme Naomi, et ses deux fils s'appelaient Machlon et Kiljon; ils étaient Ephratiens, de Bethléhem de Juda. Arrivés au pays de Moab, ils y fixèrent leur demeure.(FR) 2 ׃1 וְשֵׁ֣ם הָאִ֣ישׁ אֱֽלִימֶ֡לֶךְ וְשֵׁם֩ אִשְׁתּ֨וֹ נָעֳמִ֜י וְשֵׁ֥ם שְׁנֵֽי־בָנָ֣יו ׀ מַחְל֤וֹן וְכִלְיוֹן֙ אֶפְרָתִ֔ים מִבֵּ֥ית לֶ֖חֶם יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ שְׂדֵי־מוֹאָ֖ב וַיִּֽהְיוּ־שָֽׁם׃ Ruth Rut 1:2 The name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife, Naomi; and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem in Judah. Now they entered the land of Moab and remained there.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:3 ============ Rut 1:3 And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.(KJV) Ruth 1:3 Then Elimelech the husbande of Naomi died, and she remayned with her two sonnes,(Geneva) Ruth 1:3 Elimélec, mari de Naomi, mourut, et elle resta avec ses deux fils.(FR) 3 ׃1 וַיָּ֥מָת אֱלִימֶ֖לֶךְ אִ֣ישׁ נָעֳמִ֑י וַתִּשָּׁאֵ֥ר הִ֖יא וּשְׁנֵ֥י בָנֶֽיהָ׃ Ruth Rut 1:3 Then Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died; and she was left with her two sons.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:4 ============ Rut 1:4 And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.(KJV) Ruth 1:4 Which tooke them wiues of the Moabites: the ones name was Orpah, & the name of ye other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten yeeres.(Geneva) Ruth 1:4 Ils prirent des femmes Moabites, dont l'une se nommait Orpa, et l'autre Ruth, et ils habitèrent là environ dix ans.(FR) 4 ׃1 וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ לָהֶ֗ם נָשִׁים֙ מֹֽאֲבִיּ֔וֹת שֵׁ֤ם הָֽאַחַת֙ עָרְפָּ֔ה וְשֵׁ֥ם הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית ר֑וּת וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ שָׁ֖ם כְּעֶ֥שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃ Ruth Rut 1:4 They took for themselves Moabite women as wives; the name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth. And they lived there about ten years.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:5 ============ Rut 1:5 And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.(KJV) Ruth 1:5 And Mahlon and Chilion dyed also both twaine: so the woman was left destitute of her two sonnes, and of her husband.(Geneva) Ruth 1:5 Machlon et Kiljon moururent aussi tous les deux, et Naomi resta privée de ses deux fils et de son mari.(FR) 5 ׃1 וַיָּמ֥וּתוּ גַם־שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם מַחְל֣וֹן וְכִלְי֑וֹן וַתִּשָּׁאֵר֙ הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה מִשְּׁנֵ֥י יְלָדֶ֖יהָ וּמֵאִישָֽׁהּ׃ Ruth Rut 1:5 Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died, and the woman was bereft of her two children and her husband.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:6 ============ Rut 1:6 Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.(KJV) Ruth 1:6 Then she arose with her daughters in law, and returned from the countrey of Moab: for she had heard say in the countrey of Moab, that the Lord had visited his people, and giuen them bread.(Geneva) Ruth 1:6 Puis elle se leva, elle et ses belles-filles, afin de quitter le pays de Moab, car elle apprit au pays de Moab que l'Eternel avait visité son peuple et lui avait donné du pain.(FR) 6 ׃1 וַתָּ֤קָם הִיא֙ וְכַלֹּתֶ֔יהָ וַתָּ֖שָׁב מִשְּׂדֵ֣י מוֹאָ֑ב כִּ֤י שָֽׁמְעָה֙ בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה מוֹאָ֔ב כִּֽי־פָקַ֤ד יְהוָה֙ אֶת־עַמּ֔וֹ לָתֵ֥ת לָהֶ֖ם לָֽחֶם׃ Ruth Rut 1:6 Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the land of Moab, for she had heard in the land of Moab that the Lord had visited His people in giving them food.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:7 ============ Rut 1:7 Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.(KJV) Ruth 1:7 Wherefore shee departed out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her, and they went on their way to returne vnto the land of Iudah.(Geneva) Ruth 1:7 Elle sortit du lieu qu'elle habitait, accompagnée de ses deux belles-filles, et elle se mit en route pour retourner dans le pays de Juda.(FR) 7 ׃1 וַתֵּצֵ֗א מִן־הַמָּקוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיְתָה־שָׁ֔מָּה וּשְׁתֵּ֥י כַלֹּתֶ֖יהָ עִמָּ֑הּ וַתֵּלַ֣כְנָה בַדֶּ֔רֶךְ לָשׁ֖וּב אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ יְהוּדָֽה׃ Ruth Rut 1:7 So she departed from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:8 ============ Rut 1:8 And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.(KJV) Ruth 1:8 Then Naomi saide vnto her two daughters in lawe, Goe, returne eche of you vnto her owne mothers house: the Lord shew fauour vnto you, as ye haue done with the dead, and with me.(Geneva) Ruth 1:8 Naomi dit alors à ses deux belles-filles: Allez, retournez chacune à la maison de sa mère! Que l'Eternel use de bonté envers vous, comme vous l'avez fait envers ceux qui sont morts et envers moi!(FR) 8 ׃1 וַתֹּ֤אמֶר נָעֳמִי֙ לִשְׁתֵּ֣י כַלֹּתֶ֔יהָ לֵ֣כְנָה שֹּׁ֔בְנָה אִשָּׁ֖ה לְבֵ֣ית אִמָּ֑הּ *יעשה **יַ֣עַשׂ יְהוָ֤ה עִמָּכֶם֙ חֶ֔סֶד כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר עֲשִׂיתֶ֛ם עִם־הַמֵּתִ֖ים וְעִמָּדִֽי׃ Ruth Rut 1:8 And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Go, return each of you to her mother's house. May the Lord deal kindly with you as you have dealt with the dead and with me.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:9 ============ Rut 1:9 The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.(KJV) Ruth 1:9 The Lorde graunt you, that you may finde rest, either of you in the house of her husbande; when she kissed them, they lift vp their voice and wept.(Geneva) Ruth 1:9 Que l'Eternel vous fasse trouver à chacune du repos dans la maison d'un mari! Et elle les baisa. Elles élevèrent la voix, et pleurèrent;(FR) 9 ׃1 יִתֵּ֤ן יְהוָה֙ לָכֶ֔ם וּמְצֶ֣אןָ מְנוּחָ֔ה אִשָּׁ֖ה בֵּ֣ית אִישָׁ֑הּ וַתִּשַּׁ֣ק לָהֶ֔ן וַתִּשֶּׂ֥אנָה קוֹלָ֖ן וַתִּבְכֶּֽינָה׃ Ruth Rut 1:9 May the Lord grant that you may find rest, each in the house of her husband." Then she kissed them, and they lifted up their voices and wept.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:10 ============ Rut 1:10 And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.(KJV) Ruth 1:10 And they saide vnto her, Surely we will returne with thee vnto thy people.(Geneva) Ruth 1:10 et elles lui dirent: Non, nous irons avec toi vers ton peuple.(FR) 10 ׃1 וַתֹּאמַ֖רְנָה־לָּ֑הּ כִּי־אִתָּ֥ךְ נָשׁ֖וּב לְעַמֵּֽךְ׃ Ruth Rut 1:10 And they said to her, "No, but we will surely return with you to your people."(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:11 ============ Rut 1:11 And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?(KJV) Ruth 1:11 But Naomi saide, Turne againe, my daughters: for what cause will you go with me? are there any mo sonnes in my wombe, that they may bee your husbands?(Geneva) Ruth 1:11 Naomi, dit: Retournez, mes filles! Pourquoi viendriez-vous avec moi? Ai-je encore dans mon sein des fils qui puissent devenir vos maris?(FR) 11 ׃1 וַתֹּ֤אמֶר נָעֳמִי֙ שֹׁ֣בְנָה בְנֹתַ֔י לָ֥מָּה תֵלַ֖כְנָה עִמִּ֑י הַֽעֽוֹד־לִ֤י בָנִים֙ בְּֽמֵעַ֔י וְהָי֥וּ לָכֶ֖ם לַאֲנָשִֽׁים׃ Ruth Rut 1:11 But Naomi said, "Return, my daughters. Why should you go with me? Have I yet sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:12 ============ Rut 1:12 Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;(KJV) Ruth 1:12 Turne againe, my daughters: go your way: for I am too olde to haue an husband. If I should say, I haue hope, and if I had an husbad this night: yea, if I had borne sonnes,(Geneva) Ruth 1:12 Retournez, mes filles, allez! Je suis trop vieille pour me remarier. Et quand je dirais: J'ai de l'espérance; quand cette nuit même je serais avec un mari, et que j'enfanterais des fils,(FR) 12 ׃1 שֹׁ֤בְנָה בְנֹתַי֙ לֵ֔כְןָ כִּ֥י זָקַ֖נְתִּי מִהְי֣וֹת לְאִ֑ישׁ כִּ֤י אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ יֶשׁ־לִ֣י תִקְוָ֔ה גַּ֣ם הָיִ֤יתִי הַלַּ֙יְלָה֙ לְאִ֔ישׁ וְגַ֖ם יָלַ֥דְתִּי בָנִֽים׃ Ruth Rut 1:12 Return, my daughters! Go, for I am too old to have a husband. If I said I have hope, if I should even have a husband tonight and also bear sons,(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:13 ============ Rut 1:13 Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.(KJV) Ruth 1:13 Would yee tarie for them, till they were of age? would ye be deferred for them from taking of husbands? nay my daughters: for it grieueth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lorde is gone out against me.(Geneva) Ruth 1:13 attendriez-vous pour cela qu'ils eussent grandi, refuseriez-vous pour cela de vous marier? Non, mes filles! car à cause de vous je suis dans une grande affliction de ce que la main de l'Eternel s'est étendue contre moi.(FR) 13 ׃1 הֲלָהֵ֣ן ׀ תְּשַׂבֵּ֗רְנָה עַ֚ד אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִגְדָּ֔לוּ הֲלָהֵן֙ תֵּֽעָגֵ֔נָה לְבִלְתִּ֖י הֱי֣וֹת לְאִ֑ישׁ אַ֣ל בְּנֹתַ֗י כִּֽי־מַר־לִ֤י מְאֹד֙ מִכֶּ֔ם כִּֽי־יָצְאָ֥ה בִ֖י יַד־יְהוָֽה׃ Ruth Rut 1:13 would you therefore wait until they were grown? Would you therefore refrain from marrying? No, my daughters; for it is harder for me than for you, for the hand of the Lord has gone forth against me." (nasb) ======= Ruth 1:14 ============ Rut 1:14 And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.(KJV) Ruth 1:14 Then they lift vp their voyce and wept againe, and Orpah kissed her mother in lawe, but Ruth abode still with her.(Geneva) Ruth 1:14 Et elles élevèrent la voix, et pleurèrent encore. Orpa baisa sa belle-mère, mais Ruth s'attacha à elle.(FR) 14 ׃1 וַתִּשֶּׂ֣נָה קוֹלָ֔ן וַתִּבְכֶּ֖ינָה ע֑וֹד וַתִּשַּׁ֤ק עָרְפָּה֙ לַחֲמוֹתָ֔הּ וְר֖וּת דָּ֥בְקָה בָּֽהּ׃ Ruth Rut 1:14 And they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:15 ============ Rut 1:15 And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.(KJV) Ruth 1:15 And Naomi said, Beholde, thy sister in law is gone backe vnto her people and vnto her gods: returne thou after thy sister in lawe.(Geneva) Ruth 1:15 Naomi dit à Ruth: Voici, ta belle-soeur est retournée vers son peuple et vers ses dieux; retourne, comme ta belle-soeur.(FR) 15 ׃1 וַתֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּה֙ שָׁ֣בָה יְבִמְתֵּ֔ךְ אֶל־עַמָּ֖הּ וְאֶל־אֱלֹהֶ֑יהָ שׁ֖וּבִי אַחֲרֵ֥י יְבִמְתֵּֽךְ׃ Ruth Rut 1:15 Then she said, "Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and her gods; return after your sister-in-law."(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:16 ============ Rut 1:16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:(KJV) Ruth 1:16 And Ruth answered, Intreate mee not to leaue thee, nor to depart from thee: for whither thou goest, I will goe: and where thou dwellest, I will dwell: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.(Geneva) Ruth 1:16 Ruth répondit: Ne me presse pas de te laisser, de retourner loin de toi! Où tu iras j'irai, où tu demeureras je demeurerai; ton peuple sera mon peuple, et ton Dieu sera mon Dieu;(FR) 16 ׃1 וַתֹּ֤אמֶר רוּת֙ אַל־תִּפְגְּעִי־בִ֔י לְעָזְבֵ֖ךְ לָשׁ֣וּב מֵאַחֲרָ֑יִךְ כִּ֠י אֶל־אֲשֶׁ֨ר תֵּלְכִ֜י אֵלֵ֗ךְ וּבַאֲשֶׁ֤ר תָּלִ֙ינִי֙ אָלִ֔ין עַמֵּ֣ךְ עַמִּ֔י וֵאלֹהַ֖יִךְ אֱלֹהָֽי׃ Ruth Rut 1:16 But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:17 ============ Rut 1:17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.(KJV) Ruth 1:17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried. the Lord do so to me and more also, if ought but death depart thee and me.(Geneva) Ruth 1:17 où tu mourras je mourrai, et j'y serai enterrée. Que l'Eternel me traite dans toute sa rigueur, si autre chose que la mort vient à me séparer de toi!(FR) 17 ׃1 בַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר תָּמ֙וּתִי֙ אָמ֔וּת וְשָׁ֖ם אֶקָּבֵ֑ר כֹּה֩ יַעֲשֶׂ֨ה יְהוָ֥ה לִי֙ וְכֹ֣ה יֹסִ֔יף כִּ֣י הַמָּ֔וֶת יַפְרִ֖יד בֵּינִ֥י וּבֵינֵֽךְ׃ Ruth Rut 1:17 Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may the Lord do to me, and worse, if anything but death parts you and me."(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:18 ============ Rut 1:18 When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.(KJV) Ruth 1:18 Whe she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, she left speaking vnto her.(Geneva) Ruth 1:18 Naomi, la voyant décidée à aller avec elle, cessa ses instances.(FR) 18 ׃1 וַתֵּ֕רֶא כִּֽי־מִתְאַמֶּ֥צֶת הִ֖יא לָלֶ֣כֶת אִתָּ֑הּ וַתֶּחְדַּ֖ל לְדַבֵּ֥ר אֵלֶֽיהָ׃ Ruth Rut 1:18 When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more to her.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:19 ============ Rut 1:19 So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?(KJV) Ruth 1:19 So they went both vntill they came to Beth-lehem: and when they were come to Beth-lehem, it was noysed of them through all the citie, and they said, Is not this Naomi?(Geneva) Ruth 1:19 Elles firent ensemble le voyage jusqu'à leur arrivée à Bethléhem. Et lorsqu'elles entrèrent dans Bethléhem, toute la ville fut émue à cause d'elles, et les femmes disaient: Est-ce là Naomi?(FR) 19 ׃1 וַתֵּלַ֣כְנָה שְׁתֵּיהֶ֔ם עַד־בֹּאָ֖נָה בֵּ֣ית לָ֑חֶם וַיְהִ֗י כְּבֹאָ֙נָה֙ בֵּ֣ית לֶ֔חֶם וַתֵּהֹ֤ם כָּל־הָעִיר֙ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ן וַתֹּאמַ֖רְנָה הֲזֹ֥את נָעֳמִֽי׃ Ruth Rut 1:19 So they both went until they came to Bethlehem. And when they had come to Bethlehem, all the city was stirred because of them, and the women said, "Is this Naomi?"(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:20 ============ Rut 1:20 And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.(KJV) Ruth 1:20 And she answered them, Call me not Naomi, but call me Mara: for the Almightie hath giuen me much bitternes.(Geneva) Ruth 1:20 Elle leur dit: Ne m'appelez pas Naomi; appelez-moi Mara, car le Tout-Puissant m'a remplie d'amertume.(FR) 20 ׃1 וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֔ן אַל־תִּקְרֶ֥אנָה לִ֖י נָעֳמִ֑י קְרֶ֤אןָ לִי֙ מָרָ֔א כִּי־הֵמַ֥ר שַׁדַּ֛י לִ֖י מְאֹֽד׃ Ruth Rut 1:20 She said to them, "Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:21 ============ Rut 1:21 I went out full and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?(KJV) Ruth 1:21 I went out full, and the Lorde hath caused me to returne emptie: why call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath humbled me, and the Almightie hath brought me vnto aduersitie?(Geneva) Ruth 1:21 J'étais dans l'abondance à mon départ, et l'Eternel me ramène les mains vides. Pourquoi m'appelleriez-vous Naomi, après que l'Eternel s'est prononcé contre moi, et que le Tout-Puissant m'a affligée?(FR) 21 ׃1 אֲנִי֙ מְלֵאָ֣ה הָלַ֔כְתִּי וְרֵיקָ֖ם הֱשִׁיבַ֣נִי יְהוָ֑ה לָ֣מָּה תִקְרֶ֤אנָה לִי֙ נָעֳמִ֔י וַֽיהוָה֙ עָ֣נָה בִ֔י וְשַׁדַּ֖י הֵ֥רַֽע לִֽי׃ Ruth Rut 1:21 I went out full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has witnessed against me and the Almighty has afflicted me?"(nasb) ======= Ruth 1:22 ============ Rut 1:22 So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.(kjv) Ruth 1:22 So Naomi returned and Ruth the Moabitesse her daughter in law with her, when she came out of the countrey of Moab: and they came to Beth-lehem in the beginning of barly haruest.(Geneva) Ruth 1:22 Ainsi revinrent du pays de Moab Naomi et sa belle-fille, Ruth la Moabite.
