================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:1 ---- written 1400-1370 B.C.---- Jos 17:1 καὶ ἐγένετο τὰ ὅρια φυλῆς υἱῶν Μανασση ὅτι οὗτος πρωτότοκος τῷ Ιωσηφ τῷ Μαχιρ πρωτοτόκῳ Μανασση πατρὶ Γαλααδ ἀνὴρ γὰρ πολεμιστὴς ἦν ἐν τῇ Γαλααδίτιδι καὶ ἐν τῇ Βασανίτιδι (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:1 Now this was the lot for the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the firstborn of Joseph. To Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, were allotted Gilead and Bashan, because he was a man of war.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:2---- Jos 17:2 καὶ ἐγενήθη τοῖς υἱοῖς Μανασση τοῖς λοιποῖς κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ιεζερ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Κελεζ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Ιεζιηλ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Συχεμ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Συμαριμ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Οφερ οὗτοι οἱ ἄρσενες κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:2 So the lot was made for the rest of the sons of Manasseh according to their families: for the sons of Abiezer and for the sons of Helek and for the sons of Asriel and for the sons of Shechem and for the sons of Hepher and for the sons of Shemida; these were the male descendants of Manasseh the son of Joseph according to their families.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:3---- Jos 17:3 καὶ τῷ Σαλπααδ υἱῷ Οφερ οὐκ ἦσαν αὐτῷ υἱοὶ ἀλλ᾽ ἢ θυγατέρες καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν θυγατέρων Σαλπααδ Μααλα καὶ Νουα καὶ Εγλα καὶ Μελχα καὶ Θερσα (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:3 However, Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, only daughters; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:4---- Jos 17:4 καὶ ἔστησαν ἐναντίον Ελεαζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἐναντίον Ἰησοῦ καὶ ἐναντίον τῶν ἀρχόντων λέγουσαι ὁ θεὸς ἐνετείλατο διὰ χειρὸς Μωυσῆ δοῦναι ἡμῖν κληρονομίαν ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἀδελφῶν ἡμῶν καὶ ἐδόθη αὐταῖς διὰ προστάγματος κυρίου κλῆρος ἐν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:4 They came near before Eleazar the priest and before Joshua the son of Nun and before the leaders, saying, "The Lord commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brothers." So according to the command of the Lord he gave them an inheritance among their father's brothers.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:5---- Jos 17:5 καὶ ἔπεσεν ὁ σχοινισμὸς αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Ανασσα καὶ πεδίον Λαβεκ ἐκ τῆς Γαλααδ ἥ ἐστιν πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:5 Thus there fell ten portions to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which is beyond the Jordan,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:6---- Jos 17:6 ὅτι θυγατέρες υἱῶν Μανασση ἐκληρονόμησαν κλῆρον ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν ἡ δὲ γῆ Γαλααδ ἐγενήθη τοῖς υἱοῖς Μανασση τοῖς καταλελειμμένοις (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:6 because the daughters of Manasseh received an inheritance among his sons. And the land of Gilead belonged to the rest of the sons of Manasseh.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:7---- Jos 17:7 καὶ ἐγενήθη ὅρια υἱῶν Μανασση Δηλαναθ ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον υἱῶν Αναθ καὶ πορεύεται ἐπὶ τὰ ὅρια ἐπὶ Ιαμιν καὶ Ιασσιβ ἐπὶ πηγὴν Θαφθωθ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:7 The border of Manasseh ran from Asher to Michmethath which was east of Shechem; then the border went southward to the inhabitants of En-tappuah.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:8---- Jos 17:8 τῷ Μανασση ἔσται καὶ Θαφεθ ἐπὶ τῶν ὁρίων Μανασση τοῖς υἱοῖς Εφραιμ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:8 The land of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh, but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the sons of Ephraim.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:9---- Jos 17:9 καὶ καταβήσεται τὰ ὅρια ἐπὶ φάραγγα Καρανα ἐπὶ λίβα κατὰ φάραγγα Ιαριηλ τερέμινθος τῷ Εφραιμ ἀνὰ μέσον πόλεως Μανασση καὶ ὅρια Μανασση ἐπὶ τὸν βορρᾶν εἰς τὸν χειμάρρουν καὶ ἔσται αὐτοῦ ἡ διέξοδος θάλασσα (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:9 The border went down to the brook of Kanah, southward of the brook (these cities belonged to Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh), and the border of Manasseh was on the north side of the brook and it ended at the sea.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:10---- Jos 17:10 ἀπὸ λιβὸς τῷ Εφραιμ καὶ ἐπὶ βορρᾶν Μανασση καὶ ἔσται ἡ θάλασσα ὅρια αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐπὶ Ασηρ συνάψουσιν ἐπὶ βορρᾶν καὶ τῷ Ισσαχαρ ἀπ᾽ ἀνατολῶν (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:10 The south side belonged to Ephraim and the north side to Manasseh, and the sea was their border; and they reached to Asher on the north and to Issachar on the east.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:11---- Jos 17:11 καὶ ἔσται Μανασση ἐν Ισσαχαρ καὶ ἐν Ασηρ Βαιθσαν καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Δωρ καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτῆς καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Μαγεδδω καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτῆς καὶ τὸ τρίτον τῆς Ναφετα καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτῆς (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:11 In Issachar and in Asher, Manasseh had Beth-shean and its towns and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of En-dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, the third is Napheth.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:12---- Jos 17:12 καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνάσθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Μανασση ἐξολεθρεῦσαι τὰς πόλεις ταύτας καὶ ἤρχετο ὁ Χαναναῖος κατοικεῖν ἐν τῇ γῇ ταύτῃ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:12 But the sons of Manasseh could not take possession of these cities, because the Canaanites persisted in living in that land.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:13---- Jos 17:13 καὶ ἐγενήθη καὶ ἐπεὶ κατίσχυσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐποίησαν τοὺς Χαναναίους ὑπηκόους ἐξολεθρεῦσαι δὲ αὐτοὺς οὐκ ἐξωλέθρευσαν (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:13 It came about when the sons of Israel became strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but they did not drive them out completely.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:14---- Jos 17:14 ἀντεῖπαν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Ιωσηφ τῷ Ἰησοῦ λέγοντες διὰ τί ἐκληρονόμησας ἡμᾶς κλῆρον ἕνα καὶ σχοίνισμα ἕν ἐγὼ δὲ λαὸς πολύς εἰμι καὶ ὁ θεὸς εὐλόγησέν με (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:14 Then the sons of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, "Why have you given me only one lot and one portion for an inheritance, since I am a numerous people whom the Lord has thus far blessed?"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:15---- Jos 17:15 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ἰησοῦς εἰ λαὸς πολὺς εἶ ἀνάβηθι εἰς τὸν δρυμὸν καὶ ἐκκάθαρον σεαυτῷ εἰ στενοχωρεῖ σε τὸ ὄρος τὸ Εφραιμ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:15 Joshua said to them, "If you are a numerous people, go up to the forest and clear a place for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim, since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:16---- Jos 17:16 καὶ εἶπαν οὐκ ἀρκέσει ἡμῖν τὸ ὄρος τὸ Εφραιμ καὶ ἵππος ἐπίλεκτος καὶ σίδηρος τῷ Χαναναίῳ τῷ κατοικοῦντι ἐν αὐτῷ ἐν Βαιθσαν καὶ ἐν ταῖς κώμαις αὐτῆς ἐν τῇ κοιλάδι Ιεζραελ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:16 The sons of Joseph said, "The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the valley land have chariots of iron, both those who are in Beth-shean and its towns and those who are in the valley of Jezreel."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:17---- Jos 17:17 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ιωσηφ εἰ λαὸς πολὺς εἶ καὶ ἰσχὺν μεγάλην ἔχεις οὐκ ἔσται σοι κλῆρος εἷς (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:17 Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and Manasseh, saying, "You are a numerous people and have great power; you shall not have one lot only,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joshua 17:18---- Jos 17:18 ὁ γὰρ δρυμὸς ἔσται σοι ὅτι δρυμός ἐστιν καὶ ἐκκαθαριεῖς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔσται σοι καὶ ὅταν ἐξολεθρεύσῃς τὸν Χαναναῖον ὅτι ἵππος ἐπίλεκτός ἐστιν αὐτῷ σὺ γὰρ ὑπερισχύεις αὐτοῦ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jos 17:18 but the hill country shall be yours.
