Today's Date: ======= Genesis 38:1 ============ Gen 38:1 And it came about at that time, that Judah departed from his brothers and visited a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.(nasb) Gen 38:1 ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ κατέβη Ιουδας ἀπὸ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀφίκετο ἕως πρὸς ἄνθρωπόν τινα Οδολλαμίτην ᾧ ὄνομα Ιρας (lxx) Gen 38:1 Eodem tempore, descendens Judas a fratribus suis, divertit ad virum Odollamitem, nomine Hiram.(vulgate) Gen 38:1 Es begab sich um dieselbe Zeit, daß Juda hinabzog von seinen Brüdern und tat sich zu einem Mann von Adullam, der hieß Hira.(dhs) Gen 38:1 It came to pass at that time that Judah departed from his brothers, and visited a certain Adullamite whose name was Hirah.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:2 ============ Gen 38:2 Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua; and he took her and went in to her.(nasb) Gen 38:2 καὶ εἶδεν ἐκεῖ Ιουδας θυγατέρα ἀνθρώπου Χαναναίου ᾗ ὄνομα Σαυα καὶ ἔλαβεν αὐτὴν καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτήν (lxx) Gen 38:2 Viditque ibi filiam hominis Chananæi, vocabulo Sue: et accepta uxore, ingressus est ad eam.(vulgate) Gen 38:2 Und Juda sah daselbst eines Kanaaniter-Mannes Tochter, der hieß Sua, und nahm sie. Und da er zu ihr einging,(dhs) Gen 38:2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua, and he married her and went in to her.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:3 ============ Gen 38:3 So she conceived and bore a son and he named him Er.(nasb) Gen 38:3 καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν υἱὸν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ηρ (lxx) Gen 38:3 Quæ concepit, et peperit filium, et vocavit nomen ejus Her.(vulgate) Gen 38:3 ward sie schwanger und gebar einen Sohn, den hieß er Ger.(dhs) Gen 38:3 So she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Er.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:4 ============ Gen 38:4 Then she conceived again and bore a son and named him Onan.(nasb) Gen 38:4 καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτι ἔτεκεν υἱὸν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Αυναν (lxx) Gen 38:4 Rursumque concepto fœtu, natum filium vocavit Onan.(vulgate) Gen 38:4 Und sie ward abermals schwanger und gebar einen Sohn, den hieß sie Onan.(dhs) Gen 38:4 She conceived again and bore a son, and she called his name Onan.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:5 ============ Gen 38:5 She bore still another son and named him Shelah; and it was at Chezib that she bore him.(nasb) Gen 38:5 καὶ προσθεῖσα ἔτι ἔτεκεν υἱὸν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Σηλωμ αὐτὴ δὲ ἦν ἐν Χασβι ἡνίκα ἔτεκεν αὐτούς (lxx) Gen 38:5 Tertium quoque peperit: quem appellavit Sela; quo nato, parere ultra cessavit.(vulgate) Gen 38:5 Sie gebar abermals einen Sohn, den hieß sie Sela; und er war zu Chesib, da sie ihn gebar.(dhs) Gen 38:5 And she conceived yet again and bore a son, and called his name Shelah. He was at Chezib when she bore him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:6 ============ Gen 38:6 Now Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.(nasb) Gen 38:6 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ιουδας γυναῖκα Ηρ τῷ πρωτοτόκῳ αὐτοῦ ᾗ ὄνομα Θαμαρ (lxx) Gen 38:6 Dedit autem Judas uxorem primogenito suo Her, nomine Thamar.(vulgate) Gen 38:6 Und Juda gab seinem ersten Sohn, Ger, ein Weib, die hieß Thamar.(dhs) Gen 38:6 Then Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:7 ============ Gen 38:7 But Er, Judah's firstborn, was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord took his life.(nasb) Gen 38:7 ἐγένετο δὲ Ηρ πρωτότοκος Ιουδα πονηρὸς ἐναντίον κυρίου καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτὸν ὁ θεός (lxx) Gen 38:7 Fuit quoque Her primogenitus Judæ nequam in conspectu Domini: et ab eo occisus est.(vulgate) Gen 38:7 Aber Ger war böse vor dem HERRN; darum tötete ihn der HERR.(dhs) Gen 38:7 But Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord killed him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:8 ============ Gen 38:8 Then Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife, and perform your duty as a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother."(nasb) Gen 38:8 εἶπεν δὲ Ιουδας τῷ Αυναν εἴσελθε πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου καὶ γάμβρευσαι αὐτὴν καὶ ἀνάστησον σπέρμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου (lxx) Gen 38:8 Dixit ergo Judas ad Onan filium suum: Ingredere uxorem fratris tui, et sociare illi, ut suscites semen fratri tuo.(vulgate) Gen 38:8 Da sprach Juda zu Onan: Gehe zu deines Bruders Weib und nimm sie zur Ehe, daß du deinem Bruder Samen erweckest.(dhs) Gen 38:8 And Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:9 ============ Gen 38:9 Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother's wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother.(nasb) Gen 38:9 γνοὺς δὲ Αυναν ὅτι οὐκ αὐτῷ ἔσται τὸ σπέρμα ἐγίνετο ὅταν εἰσήρχετο πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ ἐξέχεεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν τοῦ μὴ δοῦναι σπέρμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 38:9 Ille sciens non sibi nasci filios, introiens ad uxorem fratris sui, semen fundebat in terram, ne liberi fratris nomine nascerentur.(vulgate) Gen 38:9 Aber da Onan wußte, daß der Same nicht sein eigen sein sollte, wenn er einging zu seines Bruders Weib, ließ er's auf die Erde fallen und verderbte es, auf daß er seinem Bruder nicht Samen gäbe.(dhs) Gen 38:9 But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother's wife, that he emitted on the ground, lest he should give an heir to his brother.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:10 ============ Gen 38:10 But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the Lord; so He took his life also.(nasb) Gen 38:10 πονηρὸν δὲ ἐφάνη ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ ὅτι ἐποίησεν τοῦτο καὶ ἐθανάτωσεν καὶ τοῦτον (lxx) Gen 38:10 Et idcirco percussit eum Dominus, quod rem detestabilem faceret.(vulgate) Gen 38:10 Da gefiel dem HERRN übel, was er tat, und er tötete ihn auch.(dhs) Gen 38:10 And the thing which he did displeased the Lord; therefore He killed him also.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:11 ============ Gen 38:11 Then Judah said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, "Remain a widow in your father's house until my son Shelah grows up"; for he thought, "I am afraid that he too may die like his brothers." So Tamar went and lived in her father's house.(nasb) Gen 38:11 εἶπεν δὲ Ιουδας Θαμαρ τῇ νύμφῃ αὐτοῦ κάθου χήρα ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρός σου ἕως μέγας γένηται Σηλωμ ὁ υἱός μου εἶπεν γάρ μήποτε ἀποθάνῃ καὶ οὗτος ὥσπερ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ ἀπελθοῦσα δὲ Θαμαρ ἐκάθητο ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς (lxx) Gen 38:11 Quam ob rem dixit Judas Thamar nurui suæ: Esto vidua in domo patris tui, donec crescat Sela filius meus: timebat enim ne et ipse moreretur, sicut fratres ejus. Quæ abiit, et habitavit in domo patris sui.(vulgate) Gen 38:11 Da sprach Juda zu seiner Schwiegertochter Thamar: Bleibe eine Witwe in deines Vaters Hause, bis mein Sohn Sela groß wird. Denn er gedachte, vielleicht möchte er auch sterben wie seine Brüder. Also ging Thamar hin und blieb in ihres Vaters Hause.(dhs) Gen 38:11 Then Judah said to Tamar his daughter-in-law, "Remain a widow in your father's house till my son Shelah is grown." For he said, "Lest he also die like his brothers." And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:12 ============ Gen 38:12 Now after a considerable time Shua's daughter, the wife of Judah, died; and when the time of mourning was ended, Judah went up to his sheepshearers at Timnah, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.(nasb) Gen 38:12 ἐπληθύνθησαν δὲ αἱ ἡμέραι καὶ ἀπέθανεν Σαυα ἡ γυνὴ Ιουδα καὶ παρακληθεὶς Ιουδας ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τοὺς κείροντας τὰ πρόβατα αὐτοῦ αὐτὸς καὶ Ιρας ὁ ποιμὴν αὐτοῦ ὁ Οδολλαμίτης εἰς Θαμνα (lxx) Gen 38:12 Evolutis autem multis diebus, mortua est filia Sue uxor Judæ: qui, post luctum consolatione suscepta, ascendebat ad tonsores ovium suarum, ipse et Hiras opilio gregis Odollamites, in Thamnas.(vulgate) Gen 38:12 Da nun viele Tage verlaufen waren, starb des Sua Tochter, Juda's Weib. Und nachdem Juda ausgetrauert hatte, ging er hinauf seine Schafe zu scheren, gen Thimnath mit seinem Freunde Hira von Adullam.(dhs) Gen 38:12 Now in the process of time the daughter of Shua, Judah's wife, died; and Judah was comforted, and went up to his sheepshearers at Timnah, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:13 ============ Gen 38:13 It was told to Tamar, "Behold, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep."(nasb) Gen 38:13 καὶ ἀπηγγέλη Θαμαρ τῇ νύμφῃ αὐτοῦ λέγοντες ἰδοὺ ὁ πενθερός σου ἀναβαίνει εἰς Θαμνα κεῖραι τὰ πρόβατα αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 38:13 Nuntiatumque est Thamar quod socer illius ascenderet in Thamnas ad tondendas oves.(vulgate) Gen 38:13 Da ward der Thamar angesagt: Siehe, dein Schwiegervater geht hinauf gen Thimnath, seine Schafe zu scheren.(dhs) Gen 38:13 And it was told Tamar, saying, "Look, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:14 ============ Gen 38:14 So she removed her widow's garments and covered herself with a veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in the gateway of Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah had grown up, and she had not been given to him as a wife.(nasb) Gen 38:14 καὶ περιελομένη τὰ ἱμάτια τῆς χηρεύσεως ἀφ᾽ ἑαυτῆς περιεβάλετο θέριστρον καὶ ἐκαλλωπίσατο καὶ ἐκάθισεν πρὸς ταῖς πύλαις Αιναν ἥ ἐστιν ἐν παρόδῳ Θαμνα εἶδεν γὰρ ὅτι μέγας γέγονεν Σηλωμ αὐτὸς δὲ οὐκ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν αὐτῷ γυναῖκα (lxx) Gen 38:14 Quæ, depositis viduitatis vestibus, assumpsit theristrum: et mutato habitu, sedit in bivio itineris, quod ducit Thamnam: eo quod crevisset Sela, et non eum accepisset maritum.(vulgate) Gen 38:14 Da legte sie die Witwenkleider von sich, die sie trug, deckte sich mit einem Mantel und verhüllte sich und setzte sich vor das Tor von Enaim an dem Wege gen Thimnath; denn sie sah, daß Sela war groß geworden, und sie ward ihm nicht zum Weibe gegeben.(dhs) Gen 38:14 So she took off her widow's garments, covered herself with a veil and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place which was on the way to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given to him as a wife.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:15 ============ Gen 38:15 When Judah saw her, he thought she was a harlot, for she had covered her face.(nasb) Gen 38:15 καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὴν Ιουδας ἔδοξεν αὐτὴν πόρνην εἶναι κατεκαλύψατο γὰρ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτῆς καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνω αὐτήν (lxx) Gen 38:15 Quam cum vidisset Judas, suspicatus est esse meretricem: operuerat enim vultum suum, ne agnosceretur.(vulgate) Gen 38:15 Da sie nun Juda sah, meinte er, sie wäre eine Hure; denn sie hatte ihr Angesicht verdeckt.(dhs) Gen 38:15 When Judah saw her, he thought she was a harlot, because she had covered her face.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:16 ============ Gen 38:16 So he turned aside to her by the road, and said, "Here now, let me come in to you"; for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law. And she said, "What will you give me, that you may come in to me?"(nasb) Gen 38:16 ἐξέκλινεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὴν τὴν ὁδὸν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ ἔασόν με εἰσελθεῖν πρὸς σέ οὐ γὰρ ἔγνω ὅτι ἡ νύμφη αὐτοῦ ἐστιν ἡ δὲ εἶπεν τί μοι δώσεις ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃς πρός με (lxx) Gen 38:16 Ingrediensque ad eam, ait: Dimitte me ut coëam tecum: nesciebat enim quod nurus sua esset. Qua respondente: Quid dabis mihi ut fruaris concubitu meo?(vulgate) Gen 38:16 Und er machte sich zu ihr am Wege und sprach: Laß mich doch zu dir kommen; denn er wußte nicht, daß es seine Schwiegertochter wäre. Sie antwortete: Was willst du mir geben, daß du zu mir kommst?(dhs) Gen 38:16 Then he turned to her by the way, and said, "Please let me come in to you"; for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law. So she said, "What will you give me, that you may come in to me?"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:17 ============ Gen 38:17 He said, therefore, "I will send you a young goat from the flock." She said, moreover, "Will you give a pledge until you send it?"(nasb) Gen 38:17 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγώ σοι ἀποστελῶ ἔριφον αἰγῶν ἐκ τῶν προβάτων ἡ δὲ εἶπεν ἐὰν δῷς ἀρραβῶνα ἕως τοῦ ἀποστεῖλαί σε (lxx) Gen 38:17 dixit: Mittam tibi hædum de gregibus. Rursumque illa dicente: Patiar quod vis, si dederis mihi arrhabonem, donec mittas quod polliceris.(vulgate) Gen 38:17 Er sprach: Ich will dir einen Ziegenbock von der Herde senden. Sie antwortete: So gib mir ein Pfand, bis daß du mir's sendest.(dhs) Gen 38:17 And he said, "I will send a young goat from the flock." So she said, "Will you give me a pledge till you send it?"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:18 ============ Gen 38:18 He said, "What pledge shall I give you?" And she said, "Your seal and your cord, and your staff that is in your hand." So he gave them to her and went in to her, and she conceived by him.(nasb) Gen 38:18 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν τίνα τὸν ἀρραβῶνά σοι δώσω ἡ δὲ εἶπεν τὸν δακτύλιόν σου καὶ τὸν ὁρμίσκον καὶ τὴν ῥάβδον τὴν ἐν τῇ χειρί σου καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῇ καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτήν καὶ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔλαβεν ἐξ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 38:18 Ait Judas: Quid tibi vis pro arrhabone dari? Respondit: Annulum tuum, et armillam, et baculum quem manu tenes. Ad unum igitur coitum mulier concepit,(vulgate) Gen 38:18 Er sprach: Was willst du für ein Pfand, das ich dir gebe? Sie antwortete: Deinen Ring und deine Schnur und deinen Stab, den du in den Händen hast. Da gab er's ihr und kam zu ihr; und sie ward von ihm schwanger.(dhs) Gen 38:18 Then he said, "What pledge shall I give you?" So she said, "Your signet and cord, and your staff that is in your hand." Then he gave them to her, and went in to her, and she conceived by him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:19 ============ Gen 38:19 Then she arose and departed, and removed her veil and put on her widow's garments.(nasb) Gen 38:19 καὶ ἀναστᾶσα ἀπῆλθεν καὶ περιείλατο τὸ θέριστρον ἀφ᾽ ἑαυτῆς καὶ ἐνεδύσατο τὰ ἱμάτια τῆς χηρεύσεως αὐτῆς (lxx) Gen 38:19 et surgens abiit: depositoque habitu quem sumpserat, induta est viduitatis vestibus.(vulgate) Gen 38:19 Und sie machte sich auf und ging hin und zog ihre Witwenkleider wieder an.(dhs) Gen 38:19 So she arose and went away, and laid aside her veil and put on the garments of her widowhood.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:20 ============ Gen 38:20 When Judah sent the young goat by his friend the Adullamite, to receive the pledge from the woman's hand, he did not find her.(nasb) Gen 38:20 ἀπέστειλεν δὲ Ιουδας τὸν ἔριφον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἐν χειρὶ τοῦ ποιμένος αὐτοῦ τοῦ Οδολλαμίτου κομίσασθαι τὸν ἀρραβῶνα παρὰ τῆς γυναικός καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν αὐτήν (lxx) Gen 38:20 Misit autem Judas hædum per pastorem suum Odollamitem, ut reciperet pignus quod dederat mulieri: qui cum non invenisset eam,(vulgate) Gen 38:20 Juda aber sandte den Ziegenbock durch seinen Freund Adullam, daß er das Pfand wieder holte von dem Weibe; und er fand sie nicht.(dhs) Gen 38:20 And Judah sent the young goat by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman's hand, but he did not find her.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:21 ============ Gen 38:21 He asked the men of her place, saying, "Where is the temple prostitute who was by the road at Enaim?" But they said, "There has been no temple prostitute here."(nasb) Gen 38:21 ἐπηρώτησεν δὲ τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς ἐκ τοῦ τόπου ποῦ ἐστιν ἡ πόρνη ἡ γενομένη ἐν Αιναν ἐπὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ καὶ εἶπαν οὐκ ἦν ἐνταῦθα πόρνη (lxx) Gen 38:21 interrogavit homines loci illius: Ubi est mulier quæ sedebat in bivio? Respondentibus cunctis: Non fuit in loco ista meretrix.(vulgate) Gen 38:21 Da fragte er die Leute: Wo ist die Hure, die zu Enaim am Wege saß? Sie antworteten: Es ist keine Hure da gewesen.(dhs) Gen 38:21 Then he asked the men of that place, saying, "Where is the harlot who was openly by the roadside?" And they said, "There was no harlot in this place."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:22 ============ Gen 38:22 So he returned to Judah, and said, "I did not find her; and furthermore, the men of the place said, 'There has been no temple prostitute here.'"(nasb) Gen 38:22 καὶ ἀπεστράφη πρὸς Ιουδαν καὶ εἶπεν οὐχ εὗρον καὶ οἱ ἄνθρωποι οἱ ἐκ τοῦ τόπου λέγουσιν μὴ εἶναι ὧδε πόρνην (lxx) Gen 38:22 Reversus est ad Judam, et dixit ei: Non inveni eam: sed et homines loci illius dixerunt mihi, numquam sedisse ibi scortum.(vulgate) Gen 38:22 Und er kam wieder zu Juda und sprach: Ich habe sie nicht gefunden; dazu sagen die Leute des Orts, es sei keine Hure da gewesen.(dhs) Gen 38:22 So he returned to Judah and said, "I cannot find her. Also, the men of the place said there was no harlot in this place."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:23 ============ Gen 38:23 Then Judah said, "Let her keep them, otherwise we will become a laughingstock. After all, I sent this young goat, but you did not find her."(nasb) Gen 38:23 εἶπεν δὲ Ιουδας ἐχέτω αὐτά ἀλλὰ μήποτε καταγελασθῶμεν ἐγὼ μὲν ἀπέσταλκα τὸν ἔριφον τοῦτον σὺ δὲ οὐχ εὕρηκας (lxx) Gen 38:23 Ait Judas: Habeat sibi, certe mendacii arguere nos non potest, ego misi hædum quem promiseram: et tu non invenisti eam.(vulgate) Gen 38:23 Juda sprach: Sie mag's behalten; sie kann uns doch nicht Schande nachsagen, denn ich habe den Bock gesandt, so hast du sie nicht gefunden.(dhs) Gen 38:23 Then Judah said, "Let her take them for herself, lest we be shamed; for I sent this young goat and you have not found her."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:24 ============ Gen 38:24 Now it was about three months later that Judah was informed, "Your daughter-in-law Tamar has played the harlot, and behold, she is also with child by harlotry." Then Judah said, "Bring her out and let her be burned!"(nasb) Gen 38:24 ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τρίμηνον ἀπηγγέλη τῷ Ιουδα λέγοντες ἐκπεπόρνευκεν Θαμαρ ἡ νύμφη σου καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχει ἐκ πορνείας εἶπεν δὲ Ιουδας ἐξαγάγετε αὐτήν καὶ κατακαυθήτω (lxx) Gen 38:24 Ecce autem post tres menses nuntiaverunt Judæ, dicentes: Fornicata est Thamar nurus tua, et videtur uterus illius intumescere. Dixitque Judas: Producite eam ut comburatur.(vulgate) Gen 38:24 Über drei Monate ward Juda angesagt: Deine Schwiegertochter Thamar hat gehurt; dazu siehe, ist sie von der Hurerei schwanger geworden. Juda spricht: Bringt sie hervor, daß sie verbrannt werde.(dhs) Gen 38:24 And it came to pass, about three months after, that Judah was told, saying, "Tamar your daughter-in-law has played the harlot; furthermore she is with child by harlotry." So Judah said, "Bring her out and let her be burned!"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:25 ============ Gen 38:25 It was while she was being brought out that she sent to her father-in-law, saying, "I am with child by the man to whom these things belong." And he never knew her again.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:27 ============ Gen 38:27 It came about at the time she was giving birth, that behold, there were twins in her womb.(nasb) Gen 38:27 ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἔτικτεν καὶ τῇδε ἦν δίδυμα ἐν τῇ γαστρὶ αὐτῆς (lxx) Gen 38:27 Instante autem partu, apparuerunt gemini in utero: atque in ipsa effusione infantium unus protulit manum, in qua obstetrix ligavit coccinum, dicens:(vulgate) Gen 38:27 Und da sie gebären sollte, wurden Zwillinge in ihrem Leib gefunden.(dhs) Gen 38:27 Now it came to pass, at the time for giving birth, that behold, twins were in her womb.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 38:28 ============ Gen 38:28 Moreover, it took place while she was giving birth, one put out a hand, and the midwife took and tied a scarlet thread on his hand, saying, "This one came out first."(nasb) Gen 38:28 ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ τίκτειν αὐτὴν ὁ εἷς προεξήνεγκεν τὴν χεῖρα λαβοῦσα δὲ ἡ μαῖα ἔδησεν ἐπὶ τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ κόκκινον λέγουσα οὗτος ἐξελεύσεται πρότερος (lxx) Gen 38:28 Iste egredietur prior.(vulgate) Gen 38:28 Und als sie jetzt gebar, tat sich eine Hand heraus. So he was named Perez.(nasb) Gen 38:29 ὡς δὲ ἐπισυνήγαγεν τὴν χεῖρα καὶ εὐθὺς ἐξῆλθεν ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ ἡ δὲ εἶπεν τί διεκόπη διὰ σὲ φραγμός καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Φαρες (lxx) Gen 38:29 Illo vero retrahente manum, egressus est alter: dixitque mulier: Quare divisa est propter te maceria? et ob hanc causam, vocavit nomen ejus Phares.(vulgate) Gen 38:29 Da aber der seine Hand wieder hineinzog, kam sein Bruder heraus; und sie sprach: Warum hast du um deinetwillen solchen Riß gerissen?
