Today's Date: ======= Exodus 17:1 ============ Exo 17:1 Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel journeyed by stages from the wilderness of Sin, according to the command of the Lord, and camped at Rephidim, and there was no water for the people to drink.(nasb) Exo 17:1 καὶ ἀπῆρεν πᾶσα συναγωγὴ υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐκ τῆς ἐρήμου Σιν κατὰ παρεμβολὰς αὐτῶν διὰ ῥήματος κυρίου καὶ παρενεβάλοσαν ἐν Ραφιδιν οὐκ ἦν δὲ ὕδωρ τῷ λαῷ πιεῖν (lxx) Exo 17:1 Igitur profecta omnis multitudo filiorum Israël de deserto Sin per mansiones suas, juxta sermonem Domini, castrametati sunt in Raphidim, ubi non erat aqua ad bibendum populo.(vulgate) Exo 17:1 Und die ganze Gemeinde der Kinder Israel zog aus der Wüste Sin ihre Tagereisen, wie ihnen der HERR befahl, und sie lagerten sich in Raphidim. Da hatte das Volk kein Wasser zu trinken.(dhs) Exo 17:1 Then all the congregation of the children of Israel set out on their journey from the Wilderness of Sin, according to the commandment of the Lord, and camped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:2 ============ Exo 17:2 Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, "Give us water that we may drink." And Moses said to them, "Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?"(nasb) Exo 17:2 καὶ ἐλοιδορεῖτο ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγοντες δὸς ἡμῖν ὕδωρ ἵνα πίωμεν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Μωυσῆς τί λοιδορεῖσθέ μοι καὶ τί πειράζετε κύριον (lxx) Exo 17:2 Qui jurgatus contra Moysen, ait: Da nobis aquam, ut bibamus. Quibus respondit Moyses: Quid jurgamini contra me? cur tentatis Dominum?(vulgate) Exo 17:2 Und sie zankten mit Mose und sprachen: Gebt uns Wasser, daß wir trinken. Mose sprach zu ihnen: Was zankt ihr mit mir? Warum versucht ihr den HERRN?(dhs) Exo 17:2 Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said, "Give us water, that we may drink." And Moses said to them, "Why do you contend with me? Why do you tempt the Lord?"(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:3 ============ Exo 17:3 But the people thirsted there for water; and they grumbled against Moses and said, "Why, now, have you brought us up from Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?"(nasb) Exo 17:3 ἐδίψησεν δὲ ἐκεῖ ὁ λαὸς ὕδατι καὶ ἐγόγγυζεν ἐκεῖ ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγοντες ἵνα τί τοῦτο ἀνεβίβασας ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου ἀποκτεῖναι ἡμᾶς καὶ τὰ τέκνα ἡμῶν καὶ τὰ κτήνη τῷ δίψει (lxx) Exo 17:3 Sitivit ergo ibi populus præ aquæ penuria, et murmuravit contra Moysen, dicens: Cur fecisti nos exire de Ægypto, ut occideres nos, et liberos nostros, ac jumenta siti?(vulgate) Exo 17:3 Da aber das Volk daselbst dürstete nach Wasser, murrten sie wider Mose und sprachen: Warum hast du uns lassen aus Ägypten ziehen, daß du uns, unsre Kinder und unser Vieh Durstes sterben ließest?(dhs) Exo 17:3 And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained against Moses, and said, "Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?"(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:4 ============ Exo 17:4 So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, "What shall I do to this people? A little more and they will stone me."(nasb) Exo 17:4 ἐβόησεν δὲ Μωυσῆς πρὸς κύριον λέγων τί ποιήσω τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ ἔτι μικρὸν καὶ καταλιθοβολήσουσίν με (lxx) Exo 17:4 Clamavit autem Moyses ad Dominum, dicens: Quid faciam populo huic? adhuc paululum, et lapidabit me.(vulgate) Exo 17:4 Mose schrie zum HERRN und sprach: Wie soll ich mit dem Volk tun? Es fehlt nicht viel, sie werden mich noch steinigen.(dhs) Exo 17:4 So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, "What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me!"(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:5 ============ Exo 17:5 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Pass before the people and take with you some of the elders of Israel; and take in your hand your staff with which you struck the Nile, and go.(nasb) Exo 17:5 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν προπορεύου τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου λαβὲ δὲ μετὰ σεαυτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ τὴν ῥάβδον ἐν ᾗ ἐπάταξας τὸν ποταμόν λαβὲ ἐν τῇ χειρί σου καὶ πορεύσῃ (lxx) Exo 17:5 Et ait Dominus ad Moysen: Antecede populum, et sume tecum de senioribus Israël: et virgam qua percussisti fluvium, tolle in manu tua, et vade.(vulgate) Exo 17:5 Der HERR sprach zu ihm: Gehe hin vor dem Volk und nimm etliche Älteste von Israel mit dir und nimm deinen Stab in deine Hand, mit dem du den Strom schlugst, und gehe hin.(dhs) Exo 17:5 And the Lord said to Moses, "Go on before the people, and take with you some of the elders of Israel. Also take in your hand your rod with which you struck the river, and go.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:6 ============ Exo 17:6 Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink." And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.(nasb) Exo 17:6 ὅδε ἐγὼ ἕστηκα πρὸ τοῦ σὲ ἐκεῖ ἐπὶ τῆς πέτρας ἐν Χωρηβ καὶ πατάξεις τὴν πέτραν καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἐξ αὐτῆς ὕδωρ καὶ πίεται ὁ λαός μου ἐποίησεν δὲ Μωυσῆς οὕτως ἐναντίον τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ (lxx) Exo 17:6 En ego stabo ibi coram te, supra petram Horeb: percutiesque petram, et exibit ex ea aqua, ut bibat populus. Fecit Moyses ita coram senioribus Israël:(vulgate) Exo 17:6 Siehe, ich will daselbst stehen vor dir auf einem Fels am Horeb; da sollst du den Fels schlagen, so wird Wasser herauslaufen, daß das Volk trinke. Mose tat also vor den Ältesten von Israel.(dhs) Exo 17:6 Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink." And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:7 ============ Exo 17:7 He named the place Massah and Meribah because of the quarrel of the sons of Israel, and because they tested the Lord, saying, "Is the Lord among us, or not?"(nasb) Exo 17:7 καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου πειρασμὸς καὶ λοιδόρησις διὰ τὴν λοιδορίαν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ διὰ τὸ πειράζειν κύριον λέγοντας εἰ ἔστιν κύριος ἐν ἡμῖν ἢ οὔ (lxx) Exo 17:7 et vocavit nomen loci illius, Tentatio, propter jurgium filiorum Israël, et quia tentaverunt Dominum, dicentes: Estne Dominus in nobis, an non?~(vulgate) Exo 17:7 Da hieß man den Ort Massa und Meriba um des Zanks willen der Kinder Israel, und daß sie den HERRN versucht und gesagt hatten: Ist der HERR unter uns oder nicht?(dhs) Exo 17:7 So he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the contention of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying, "Is the Lord among us or not?"(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:8 ============ Exo 17:8 Then Amalek came and fought against Israel at Rephidim.(nasb) Exo 17:8 ἦλθεν δὲ Αμαληκ καὶ ἐπολέμει Ισραηλ ἐν Ραφιδιν (lxx) Exo 17:8 Venit autem Amalec, et pugnabat contra Israël in Raphidim.(vulgate) Exo 17:8 Da kam Amalek und stritt wider Israel in Raphidim.(dhs) Exo 17:8 Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:9 ============ Exo 17:9 So Moses said to Joshua, "Choose men for us and go out, fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will station myself on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand."(nasb) Exo 17:9 εἶπεν δὲ Μωυσῆς τῷ Ἰησοῦ ἐπίλεξον σεαυτῷ ἄνδρας δυνατοὺς καὶ ἐξελθὼν παράταξαι τῷ Αμαληκ αὔριον καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἕστηκα ἐπὶ τῆς κορυφῆς τοῦ βουνοῦ καὶ ἡ ῥάβδος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν τῇ χειρί μου (lxx) Exo 17:9 Dixitque Moyses ad Josue: Elige viros: et egressus, pugna contra Amalec: cras ego stabo in vertice collis, habens virgam Dei in manu mea.(vulgate) Exo 17:9 Und Mose sprach zu Josua: Erwähle uns Männer, zieh aus und streite wider Amalek; morgen will ich auf des Hügels Spitze stehen und den Stab Gottes in meiner Hand haben.(dhs) Exo 17:9 And Moses said to Joshua, "Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:10 ============ Exo 17:10 Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought against Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.(nasb) Exo 17:10 καὶ ἐποίησεν Ἰησοῦς καθάπερ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Μωυσῆς καὶ ἐξελθὼν παρετάξατο τῷ Αμαληκ καὶ Μωυσῆς καὶ Ααρων καὶ Ωρ ἀνέβησαν ἐπὶ τὴν κορυφὴν τοῦ βουνοῦ (lxx) Exo 17:10 Fecit Josue ut locutus erat Moyses, et pugnavit contra Amalec: Moyses autem et Aaron et Hur ascenderunt super verticem collis.(vulgate) Exo 17:10 Und Josua tat, wie Mose ihm sagte, daß er wider Amalek stritte. Mose aber und Aaron und Hur gingen auf die Spitze des Hügels.(dhs) Exo 17:10 So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:11 ============ Exo 17:11 So it came about when Moses held his hand up, that Israel prevailed, and when he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed.(nasb) Exo 17:11 καὶ ἐγίνετο ὅταν ἐπῆρεν Μωυσῆς τὰς χεῖρας κατίσχυεν Ισραηλ ὅταν δὲ καθῆκεν τὰς χεῖρας κατίσχυεν Αμαληκ (lxx) Exo 17:11 Cumque levaret Moyses manus, vincebat Israël: sin autem paululum remisisset, superabat Amalec.(vulgate) Exo 17:11 Und wenn Mose seine Hand emporhielt, siegte Israel; wenn er aber seine Hand niederließ, siegte Amalek.(dhs) Exo 17:11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:12 ============ Exo 17:12 But Moses' hands were heavy. Then they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it; and Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other. Thus his hands were steady until the sun set.(nasb) Exo 17:12 αἱ δὲ χεῖρες Μωυσῆ βαρεῖαι καὶ λαβόντες λίθον ὑπέθηκαν ὑπ᾽ αὐτόν καὶ ἐκάθητο ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ Ααρων καὶ Ωρ ἐστήριζον τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ ἐντεῦθεν εἷς καὶ ἐντεῦθεν εἷς καὶ ἐγένοντο αἱ χεῖρες Μωυσῆ ἐστηριγμέναι ἕως δυσμῶν ἡλίου (lxx) Exo 17:12 Manus autem Moysi erant graves: sumentes igitur lapidem, posuerunt subter eum, in quo sedit: Aaron autem et Hur sustentabant manus ejus ex utraque parte. Et factum est ut manus illius non lassarentur usque ad occasum solis.(vulgate) Exo 17:12 Aber die Hände Mose's wurden schwer; darum nahmen sie einen Stein und legten ihn unter ihn, daß er sich daraufsetzte. Aaron aber und Hur stützten ihm seine Hände, auf jeglicher Seite einer. Also blieben seine Hände fest, bis die Sonne unterging.(dhs) Exo 17:12 But Moses' hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:13 ============ Exo 17:13 So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.(nasb) Exo 17:13 καὶ ἐτρέψατο Ἰησοῦς τὸν Αμαληκ καὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἐν φόνῳ μαχαίρας (lxx) Exo 17:13 Fugavitque Josue Amalec, et populum ejus in ore gladii.(vulgate) Exo 17:13 Und Josua dämpfte den Amalek und sein Volk durch des Schwertes Schärfe.(dhs) Exo 17:13 So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:14 ============ Exo 17:14 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Write this in a book as a memorial and recite it to Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven."(nasb) Exo 17:14 εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν κατάγραψον τοῦτο εἰς μνημόσυνον ἐν βιβλίῳ καὶ δὸς εἰς τὰ ὦτα Ἰησοῖ ὅτι ἀλοιφῇ ἐξαλείψω τὸ μνημόσυνον Αμαληκ ἐκ τῆς ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανόν (lxx) Exo 17:14 Dixit autem Dominus ad Moysen: Scribe hoc ob monimentum in libro, et trade auribus Josue: delebo enim memoriam Amalec sub cælo.(vulgate) Exo 17:14 Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Schreibe das zum Gedächtnis in ein Buch und befiehls's in die Ohren Josuas; denn ich will den Amalek unter dem Himmel austilgen, daß man sein nicht mehr gedenke.(dhs) Exo 17:14 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:15 ============ Exo 17:15 Moses built an altar and named it The Lord is My Banner;(nasb) Exo 17:15 καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν Μωυσῆς θυσιαστήριον κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ κύριός μου καταφυγή (lxx) Exo 17:15 Ædificavitque Moyses altare: et vocavit nomen ejus, Dominus exaltatio mea, dicens:(vulgate) Exo 17:15 Und Mose baute einen Altar und hieß ihn: Der HERR ist mein Panier.(dhs) Exo 17:15 And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner;(nkjv) ======= Exodus 17:16 ============ Exo 17:16 and he said, "The Lord has sworn; the Lord will have war against Amalek from generation to generation."(nasb) Exo 17:16 ὅτι ἐν χειρὶ κρυφαίᾳ πολεμεῖ κύριος ἐπὶ Αμαληκ ἀπὸ γενεῶν εἰς γενεάς (lxx) Exo 17:16 Quia manus solii Domini, et bellum Domini erit contra Amalec, a generatione in generationem.(vulgate) Exo 17:16 Denn er sprach: Es ist ein Malzeichen bei dem Stuhl des HERRN, daß der HERR streiten wird wider Amalek von Kind zu Kindeskind.(dhs) Exo 17:16 for he said, "Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 18:1 ============ top of the page
