Today's Date: ======= Exodus 21:1 ============ Exo 21:1 "Now these are the ordinances which you are to set before them:(nasb) Exo 21:1 καὶ ταῦτα τὰ δικαιώματα ἃ παραθήσεις ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν (lxx) Exo 21:1 Hæc sunt judicia quæ propones eis.(vulgate) Exo 21:1 Dies sind die Rechte, die du ihnen sollst vorlegen:(dhs) Exo 21:1 "Now these are the judgments which you shall set before them:(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:2 ============ Exo 21:2 "If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve for six years; but on the seventh he shall go out as a free man without payment.(nasb) Exo 21:2 ἐὰν κτήσῃ παῖδα Εβραῖον ἓξ ἔτη δουλεύσει σοι τῷ δὲ ἑβδόμῳ ἔτει ἀπελεύσεται ἐλεύθερος δωρεάν (lxx) Exo 21:2 Si emeris servum hebræum, sex annis serviet tibi: in septimo egredietur liber gratis.(vulgate) Exo 21:2 So du einen hebräischen Knecht kaufst, der soll dir sechs Jahre dienen; im siebenten Jahr soll er frei ausgehen umsonst.(dhs) Exo 21:2 If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years; and in the seventh he shall go out free and pay nothing.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:3 ============ Exo 21:3 If he comes alone, he shall go out alone; if he is the husband of a wife, then his wife shall go out with him.(nasb) Exo 21:3 ἐὰν αὐτὸς μόνος εἰσέλθῃ καὶ μόνος ἐξελεύσεται ἐὰν δὲ γυνὴ συνεισέλθῃ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἐξελεύσεται καὶ ἡ γυνὴ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Exo 21:3 Cum quali veste intraverit, cum tali exeat: si habens uxorem, et uxor egredietur simul.(vulgate) Exo 21:3 Ist er ohne Weib gekommen, so soll er auch ohne Weib ausgehen; ist er aber mit Weib gekommen, so soll sein Weib mit ihm ausgehen.(dhs) Exo 21:3 If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:4 ============ Exo 21:4 If his master gives him a wife, and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall belong to her master, and he shall go out alone.(nasb) Exo 21:4 ἐὰν δὲ ὁ κύριος δῷ αὐτῷ γυναῖκα καὶ τέκῃ αὐτῷ υἱοὺς ἢ θυγατέρας ἡ γυνὴ καὶ τὰ παιδία ἔσται τῷ κυρίῳ αὐτοῦ αὐτὸς δὲ μόνος ἐξελεύσεται (lxx) Exo 21:4 Sin autem dominus dederit illi uxorem, et pepererit filios et filias: mulier et liberi ejus erunt domini sui, ipse vero exibit cum vestitu suo.(vulgate) Exo 21:4 Hat ihm aber sein Herr ein Weib gegeben, und er hat Söhne oder Töchter gezeugt, so soll das Weib und die Kinder seines Herrn sein, er aber soll ohne Weib ausgehen.(dhs) Exo 21:4 If his master has given him a wife, and she has borne him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:5 ============ Exo 21:5 But if the slave plainly says, 'I love my master, my wife and my children; I will not go out as a free man,'(nasb) Exo 21:5 ἐὰν δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἴπῃ ὁ παῖς ἠγάπηκα τὸν κύριόν μου καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ τὰ παιδία οὐκ ἀποτρέχω ἐλεύθερος (lxx) Exo 21:5 Quod si dixerit servus: Diligo dominum meum et uxorem ac liberos; non egrediar liber:(vulgate) Exo 21:5 Spricht aber der Knecht: Ich habe meinen Herren lieb und mein Weib und Kind, ich will nicht frei werden,(dhs) Exo 21:5 But if the servant plainly says, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,'(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:6 ============ Exo 21:6 then his master shall bring him to God, then he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him permanently.(nasb) Exo 21:6 προσάξει αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὸ κριτήριον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τότε προσάξει αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν θύραν ἐπὶ τὸν σταθμόν καὶ τρυπήσει αὐτοῦ ὁ κύριος τὸ οὖς τῷ ὀπητίῳ καὶ δουλεύσει αὐτῷ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα (lxx) Exo 21:6 offeret eum dominus diis, et applicabitur ad ostium et postes, perforabitque aurem ejus subula: et erit ei servus in sæculum.(vulgate) Exo 21:6 so bringe ihn sein Herr vor die "Götter" und halte ihn an die Tür oder den Pfosten und bohre ihm mit einem Pfriem durch sein Ohr, und er sei sein Knecht ewig.(dhs) Exo 21:6 then his master shall bring him to the judges. He shall also bring him to the door, or to the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him forever.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:7 ============ Exo 21:7 "If a man sells his daughter as a female slave, she is not to go free as the male slaves do.(nasb) Exo 21:7 ἐὰν δέ τις ἀποδῶται τὴν ἑαυτοῦ θυγατέρα οἰκέτιν οὐκ ἀπελεύσεται ὥσπερ ἀποτρέχουσιν αἱ δοῦλαι (lxx) Exo 21:7 Si quis vendiderit filiam suam in famulam, non egredietur sicut ancillæ exire consueverunt.(vulgate) Exo 21:7 Verkauft jemand sein Tochter zur Magd, so soll sie nicht ausgehen wie die Knechte.(dhs) Exo 21:7 "And if a man sells his daughter to be a female slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:8 ============ Exo 21:8 If she is displeasing in the eyes of her master who designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He does not have authority to sell her to a foreign people because of his unfairness to her.(nasb) Exo 21:8 ἐὰν μὴ εὐαρεστήσῃ τῷ κυρίῳ αὐτῆς ἣν αὑτῷ καθωμολογήσατο ἀπολυτρώσει αὐτήν ἔθνει δὲ ἀλλοτρίῳ οὐ κύριός ἐστιν πωλεῖν αὐτήν ὅτι ἠθέτησεν ἐν αὐτῇ (lxx) Exo 21:8 Si displicuerit oculis domini sui cui tradita fuerat, dimittet eam: populo autem alieno vendendi non habebit potestatem, si spreverit eam.(vulgate) Exo 21:8 Gefällt sie aber ihrem Herrn nicht und will er sie nicht zur Ehe nehmen, so soll er sie zu lösen geben. Aber unter ein fremdes Volk sie zu verkaufen hat er nicht Macht, weil er sie verschmäht hat.(dhs) Exo 21:8 If she does not please her master, who has betrothed her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:9 ============ Exo 21:9 If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her according to the custom of daughters.(nasb) Exo 21:9 ἐὰν δὲ τῷ υἱῷ καθομολογήσηται αὐτήν κατὰ τὸ δικαίωμα τῶν θυγατέρων ποιήσει αὐτῇ (lxx) Exo 21:9 Sin autem filio suo desponderit eam, juxta morem filiarum faciet illi.(vulgate) Exo 21:9 Vertraut er sie aber seinem Sohn, so soll er Tochterrecht an ihr tun.(dhs) Exo 21:9 And if he has betrothed her to his son, he shall deal with her according to the custom of daughters.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:10 ============ Exo 21:10 If he takes to himself another woman, he may not reduce her food, her clothing, or her conjugal rights.(nasb) Exo 21:10 ἐὰν δὲ ἄλλην λάβῃ ἑαυτῷ τὰ δέοντα καὶ τὸν ἱματισμὸν καὶ τὴν ὁμιλίαν αὐτῆς οὐκ ἀποστερήσει (lxx) Exo 21:10 Quod si alteram ei acceperit, providebit puellæ nuptias, et vestimenta, et pretium pudicitiæ non negabit.(vulgate) Exo 21:10 Gibt er ihm aber noch eine andere, so soll er an ihrer Nahrung, Kleidung und Eheschuld nichts abbrechen.(dhs) Exo 21:10 If he takes another wife, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marriage rights.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:11 ============ Exo 21:11 If he will not do these three things for her, then she shall go out for nothing, without payment of money.(nasb) Exo 21:11 ἐὰν δὲ τὰ τρία ταῦτα μὴ ποιήσῃ αὐτῇ ἐξελεύσεται δωρεὰν ἄνευ ἀργυρίου (lxx) Exo 21:11 Si tria ista non fecerit, egredietur gratis absque pecunia.~(vulgate) Exo 21:11 Tut er diese drei nicht, so soll sie frei ausgehen ohne Lösegeld.(dhs) Exo 21:11 And if he does not do these three for her, then she shall go out free, without paying money.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:12 ============ Exo 21:12 "He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death.(nasb) Exo 21:12 ἐὰν δὲ πατάξῃ τίς τινα καὶ ἀποθάνῃ θανάτῳ θανατούσθω (lxx) Exo 21:12 Qui percusserit hominem volens occidere, morte moriatur.(vulgate) Exo 21:12 Wer einen Menschen schlägt, daß er stirbt, der soll des Todes sterben.(dhs) Exo 21:12 "He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:13 ============ Exo 21:13 But if he did not lie in wait for him, but God let him fall into his hand, then I will appoint you a place to which he may flee.(nasb) Exo 21:13 ὁ δὲ οὐχ ἑκών ἀλλὰ ὁ θεὸς παρέδωκεν εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ δώσω σοι τόπον οὗ φεύξεται ἐκεῖ ὁ φονεύσας (lxx) Exo 21:13 Qui autem non est insidiatus, sed Deus illum tradidit in manus ejus, constituam tibi locum in quem fugere debeat.(vulgate) Exo 21:13 Hat er ihm aber nicht nachgestellt, sondern Gott hat ihn lassen ungefähr in seine Hände fallen, so will ich dir einen Ort bestimmen, dahin er fliehen soll.(dhs) Exo 21:13 However, if he did not lie in wait, but God delivered him into his hand, then I will appoint for you a place where he may flee.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:14 ============ Exo 21:14 If, however, a man acts presumptuously toward his neighbor, so as to kill him craftily, you are to take him even from My altar, that he may die.(nasb) Exo 21:14 ἐὰν δέ τις ἐπιθῆται τῷ πλησίον ἀποκτεῖναι αὐτὸν δόλῳ καὶ καταφύγῃ ἀπὸ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου μου λήμψῃ αὐτὸν θανατῶσαι (lxx) Exo 21:14 Si quis per industriam occiderit proximum suum, et per insidias: ab altari meo evelles eum, ut moriatur.(vulgate) Exo 21:14 Wo aber jemand seinem Nächsten frevelt und ihn mit List erwürgt, so sollst du denselben von meinem Altar nehmen, daß man ihn töte.(dhs) Exo 21:14 "But if a man acts with premeditation against his neighbor, to kill him by treachery, you shall take him from My altar, that he may die.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:15 ============ Exo 21:15 "He who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.(nasb) Exo 21:15 ὃς τύπτει πατέρα αὐτοῦ ἢ μητέρα αὐτοῦ θανάτῳ θανατούσθω (lxx) Exo 21:15 Qui percusserit patrem suum aut matrem, morte moriatur.(vulgate) Exo 21:15 Wer Vater und Mutter schlägt, der soll des Todes sterben.(dhs) Exo 21:15 "And he who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:16 ============ Exo 21:16 "He who kidnaps a man, whether he sells him or he is found in his possession, shall surely be put to death.(nasb) Exo 21:16 ὁ κακολογῶν πατέρα αὐτοῦ ἢ μητέρα αὐτοῦ τελευτήσει θανάτῳ (lxx) Exo 21:16 Qui furatus fuerit hominem, et vendiderit eum, convictus noxæ, morte moriatur.(vulgate) Exo 21:16 Wer einen Menschen stiehlt, es sei, daß er ihn verkauft oder daß man ihn bei ihm findet, der soll des Todes sterben.(dhs) Exo 21:16 "He who kidnaps a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, shall surely be put to death.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:17 ============ Exo 21:17 "He who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.(nasb) Exo 21:17 ὃς ἐὰν κλέψῃ τίς τινα τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ καταδυναστεύσας αὐτὸν ἀποδῶται καὶ εὑρεθῇ ἐν αὐτῷ θανάτῳ but remains in bed,(nasb) Exo 21:18 ἐὰν δὲ λοιδορῶνται δύο ἄνδρες καὶ πατάξῃ τις τὸν πλησίον λίθῳ ἢ πυγμῇ καὶ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ κατακλιθῇ δὲ ἐπὶ τὴν κοίτην (lxx) Exo 21:18 Si rixati fuerint viri, et percusserit alter proximum suum lapide vel pugno, et ille mortuus non fuerit, sed jacuerit in lectulo:(vulgate) Exo 21:18 Wenn Männer mit einander hadern und einer schlägt den andern mit einem Stein oder mit einer Faust, daß er nicht stirbt, sondern zu Bette liegt:(dhs) Exo 21:18 "If men contend with each other, and one strikes the other with a stone or with his fist, and he does not die but is confined to his bed,(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:19 ============ Exo 21:19 if he gets up and walks around outside on his staff, then he who struck him shall go unpunished; he shall only pay for his loss of time, and shall take care of him until he is completely healed.(nasb) Exo 21:19 ἐὰν ἐξαναστὰς ὁ ἄνθρωπος περιπατήσῃ ἔξω ἐπὶ ῥάβδου ἀθῷος ἔσται ὁ πατάξας πλὴν τῆς ἀργίας αὐτοῦ ἀποτείσει καὶ τὰ ἰατρεῖα (lxx) Exo 21:19 si surrexerit, et ambulaverit foris super baculum suum, innocens erit qui percusserit, ita tamen ut operas ejus et impensas in medicos restituat.(vulgate) Exo 21:19 kommt er auf, daß er ausgeht an seinem Stabe, so soll, der ihn schlug, unschuldig sein, nur daß er ihm bezahle, was er versäumt hat, und das Arztgeld gebe.(dhs) Exo 21:19 if he rises again and walks about outside with his staff, then he who struck him shall be acquitted. for he is his property.(nasb) Exo 21:21 ἐὰν δὲ διαβιώσῃ ἡμέραν μίαν ἢ δύο οὐκ ἐκδικηθήσεται τὸ γὰρ ἀργύριον αὐτοῦ ἐστιν (lxx) Exo 21:21 Sin autem uno die vel duobus supervixerit, non subjacebit pœnæ, quia pecunia illius est.(vulgate) Exo 21:21 Bleibt er aber einen oder zwei Tage am Leben, so soll er darum nicht gestraft werden; denn es ist sein Geld.(dhs) Exo 21:21 Notwithstanding, if he remains alive a day or two, he shall not be punished; for he is his property.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:22 ============ Exo 21:22 "If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she gives birth prematurely, yet there is no injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide.(nasb) Exo 21:22 ἐὰν δὲ μάχωνται δύο ἄνδρες καὶ πατάξωσιν γυναῖκα ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχουσαν καὶ ἐξέλθῃ τὸ παιδίον αὐτῆς μὴ ἐξεικονισμένον ἐπιζήμιον ζημιωθήσεται καθότι ἂν ἐπιβάλῃ ὁ ἀνὴρ τῆς γυναικός δώσει μετὰ ἀξιώματος (lxx) Exo 21:22 Si rixati fuerint viri, et percusserit quis mulierem prægnantem, et abortivum quidem fecerit, sed ipsa vixerit: subjacebit damno quantum maritus mulieris expetierit, et arbitri judicaverint.(vulgate) Exo 21:22 Wenn Männer hadern und verletzen ein schwangeres Weib, daß ihr die Frucht abgeht, und ihr kein Schade widerfährt, so soll man ihn um Geld strafen, wieviel des Weibes Mann ihm auflegt, und er soll's geben nach der Schiedsrichter Erkennen.(dhs) Exo 21:22 "If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman's husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:23 ============ Exo 21:23 But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life,(nasb) Exo 21:23 ἐὰν δὲ ἐξεικονισμένον ἦν δώσει ψυχὴν ἀντὶ ψυχῆς (lxx) Exo 21:23 Sin autem mors ejus fuerit subsecuta, reddet animam pro anima,(vulgate) Exo 21:23 Kommt ihr aber ein Schade daraus, so soll er lassen Seele um Seele,(dhs) Exo 21:23 But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life,(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:24 ============ Exo 21:24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,(nasb) Exo 21:24 ὀφθαλμὸν ἀντὶ ὀφθαλμοῦ ὀδόντα ἀντὶ ὀδόντος χεῖρα ἀντὶ χειρός πόδα ἀντὶ ποδός (lxx) Exo 21:24 oculum pro oculo, dentem pro dente, manum pro manu, pedem pro pede,(vulgate) Exo 21:24 Auge um Auge, Zahn um Zahn, Hand um Hand, Fuß um Fuß,(dhs) Exo 21:24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:25 ============ Exo 21:25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.(nasb) Exo 21:25 κατάκαυμα ἀντὶ κατακαύματος τραῦμα ἀντὶ τραύματος μώλωπα ἀντὶ μώλωπος (lxx) Exo 21:25 adustionem pro adustione, vulnus pro vulnere, livorem pro livore.(vulgate) Exo 21:25 Brand um Brand, Wunde um Wunde, Beule um Beule.(dhs) Exo 21:25 burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:26 ============ Exo 21:26 "If a man strikes the eye of his male or female slave, and destroys it, he shall let him go free on account of his eye.(nasb) Exo 21:26 ἐὰν δέ τις πατάξῃ τὸν ὀφθαλμὸν τοῦ οἰκέτου αὐτοῦ ἢ τὸν ὀφθαλμὸν τῆς θεραπαίνης αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκτυφλώσῃ ἐλευθέρους ἐξαποστελεῖ αὐτοὺς ἀντὶ τοῦ ὀφθαλμοῦ αὐτῶν (lxx) Exo 21:26 Si percusserit quispiam oculum servi sui aut ancillæ, et luscos eos fecerit, dimittet eos liberos pro oculo quem eruit.(vulgate) Exo 21:26 Wenn jemand seinen Knecht oder seine Magd in ein Auge schlägt und verderbt es, der soll sie frei loslassen um das Auge.(dhs) Exo 21:26 If a man strikes the eye of his male or female servant, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for the sake of his eye.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:27 ============ Exo 21:27 And if he knocks out a tooth of his male or female slave, he shall let him go free on account of his tooth.(nasb) Exo 21:27 ἐὰν δὲ τὸν ὀδόντα τοῦ οἰκέτου ἢ τὸν ὀδόντα τῆς θεραπαίνης αὐτοῦ ἐκκόψῃ ἐλευθέρους ἐξαποστελεῖ αὐτοὺς ἀντὶ τοῦ ὀδόντος αὐτῶν (lxx) Exo 21:27 Dentem quoque si excusserit servo vel ancillæ suæ, similiter dimittet eos liberos.~(vulgate) Exo 21:27 Desgleichen, wenn er seinem Knecht oder seiner Magd einen Zahn ausschlägt, soll er sie frei loslassen um den Zahn.(dhs) Exo 21:27 And if he knocks out the tooth of his male or female servant, he shall let him go free for the sake of his tooth.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 21:28 ============ Exo 21:28 "If an ox gores a man or a woman to death, the ox shall surely be stoned and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall go unpunished.(nasb) Exo 21:28 ἐὰν δὲ κερατίσῃ ταῦρος ἄνδρα ἢ γυναῖκα καὶ ἀποθάνῃ λίθοις λιθοβοληθήσεται ὁ ταῦρος καὶ οὐ βρωθήσεται τὰ κρέα αὐτοῦ ὁ δὲ κύριος τοῦ ταύρου ἀθῷος ἔσται (lxx) Exo 21:28 Si bos cornu percusserit virum aut mulierem, et mortui fuerint, lapidibus obruetur: et non comedentur carnes ejus, dominus quoque bovis innocens erit.(vulgate) Exo 21:28 Wenn ein Ochse einen Mann oder ein Weib stößt, daß sie sterben, so soll man den Ochsen steinigen und sein Fleisch nicht essen;
