Today's Date: ======= Joshua 20:1 ============ Jos 20:1 Then the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying,(nasb) Jos 20:1 καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος τῷ Ἰησοῖ λέγων (lxx) Jos 20:1 Et locutus est Dominus ad Josue, dicens: Loquere filiis Israël, et dic eis:(vulgate) Jos 20:1 Und der HERR redete mit Josua und sprach:(dhs) Jos 20:1 The Lord also spoke to Joshua, saying,(nkjv) ======= Joshua 20:2 ============ Jos 20:2 "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'Designate the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses,(nasb) Jos 20:2 λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ λέγων δότε τὰς πόλεις τῶν φυγαδευτηρίων ἃς εἶπα πρὸς ὑμᾶς διὰ Μωυσῆ (lxx) Jos 20:2 Separate urbes fugitivorum, de quibus locutus sum ad vos per manum Moysi:(vulgate) Jos 20:2 Sage den Kindern Israel: Gebt unter euch Freistädte, davon ich durch Mose euch gesagt habe,(dhs) Jos 20:2 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying: 'Appoint for yourselves cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses,(nkjv) ======= Joshua 20:3 ============ Jos 20:3 that the manslayer who kills any person unintentionally, without premeditation, may flee there, and they shall become your refuge from the avenger of blood.(nasb) Jos 20:3 φυγαδευτήριον τῷ φονευτῇ τῷ πατάξαντι ψυχὴν ἀκουσίως καὶ ἔσονται ὑμῖν αἱ πόλεις φυγαδευτήριον καὶ οὐκ ἀποθανεῖται ὁ φονευτὴς ὑπὸ τοῦ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα ἕως ἂν καταστῇ ἐναντίον τῆς συναγωγῆς εἰς κρίσιν (lxx) Jos 20:3 ut confugiat ad eas quicumque animam percusserit nescius, et possit evadere iram proximi, qui ultor est sanguinis:(vulgate) Jos 20:3 dahin fliehen möge ein Totschläger, der eine Seele unversehens und unwissend schlägt, daß sie unter euch frei seien von dem Bluträcher.(dhs) Jos 20:3 that the slayer who kills a person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there; and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 20:4 ============ Jos 20:4 He shall flee to one of these cities, and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city and state his case in the hearing of the elders of that city; and they shall take him into the city to them and give him a place, so that he may dwell among them.(nasb) Jos 20:4 LXX missing this verse (lxx) Jos 20:4 cum ad unam harum confugerit civitatum, stabit ante portam civitatis, et loquetur senioribus urbis illius ea quæ se comprobent innocentem: sicque suscipient eum, et dabunt ei locum ad habitandum.(vulgate) Jos 20:4 Und der da flieht zu der Städte einer, soll stehen draußen vor der Stadt Tor und vor den Ältesten der Stadt seine Sache ansagen; so sollen sie ihn zu sich in die Stadt nehmen und ihm Raum geben, daß er bei ihnen wohne.(dhs) Jos 20:4 And when he flees to one of those cities, and stands at the entrance of the gate of the city, and declares his case in the hearing of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city as one of them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 20:5 ============ Jos 20:5 Now if the avenger of blood pursues him, then they shall not deliver the manslayer into his hand, because he struck his neighbor without premeditation and did not hate him beforehand.(nasb) Jos 20:5 LXX missing this verse (lxx) Jos 20:5 Cumque ultor sanguinis eum fuerit persecutus, non tradent in manus ejus: quia ignorans percussit proximum ejus, nec ante biduum triduumve ejus probatur inimicus.(vulgate) Jos 20:5 Und wenn der Bluträcher ihm nachjagt, sollen sie den Totschläger nicht in seine Hände übergeben, weil er unwissend seinen Nächsten geschlagen hat und ist ihm zuvor nicht feind gewesen.(dhs) Jos 20:5 Then if the avenger of blood pursues him, they shall not deliver the slayer into his hand, because he struck his neighbor unintentionally, but did not hate him beforehand.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 20:6 ============ Jos 20:6 He shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the one who is high priest in those days. Then the manslayer shall return to his own city and to his own house, to the city from which he fled.'"(nasb) Jos 20:6 LXX missing this verse (lxx) Jos 20:6 Et habitabit in civitate illa, donec stet ante judicium, causam reddens facti sui, et moriatur sacerdos magnus, qui fuerit in illo tempore: tunc revertetur homicida, et ingredietur civitatem et domum suam de qua fugerat.(vulgate) Jos 20:6 So soll er in der Stadt wohnen, bis daß er stehe vor der Gemeinde vor Gericht, und bis daß der Hohepriester sterbe, der zur selben Zeit sein wird. Alsdann soll der Totschläger wiederkommen in seine Stadt und in sein Haus, zur Stadt, davon er geflohen ist.(dhs) Jos 20:6 And he shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the one who is high priest in those days. "(nkjv) ======= Joshua 20:7 ============ Jos 20:7 So they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali and Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.(nasb) Jos 20:7 καὶ διέστειλεν τὴν Καδης ἐν τῇ Γαλιλαίᾳ ἐν τῷ ὄρει τῷ Νεφθαλι καὶ Συχεμ ἐν τῷ ὄρει τῷ Εφραιμ καὶ τὴν πόλιν Αρβοκ αὕτη ἐστὶν Χεβρων ἐν τῷ ὄρει τῷ Ιουδα (lxx) Jos 20:7 Decreveruntque Cedes in Galilæa montis Nephthali, et Sichem in monte Ephraim, et Cariatharbe, ipsa est Hebron in monte Juda.(vulgate) Jos 20:7 Da heiligten sie Kedes in Galiläa, auf dem Gebirge Naphthali, und Sichem auf dem Gebirge Ephraim und Kirjath-Arba, das ist Hebron, auf dem Gebirge Juda;(dhs) Jos 20:7 So they appointed Kedesh in Galilee, in the mountains of Naphtali, Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim, and Kirjath Arba (which is Hebron) in the mountains of Judah.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 20:8 ============ Jos 20:8 Beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, they designated Bezer in the wilderness on the plain from the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan from the tribe of Manasseh.(nasb) Jos 20:8 καὶ ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἔδωκεν Βοσορ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ ἀπὸ τῆς φυλῆς Ρουβην καὶ Αρημωθ ἐν τῇ Γαλααδ ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Γαδ καὶ τὴν Γαυλων ἐν τῇ Βασανίτιδι ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Μανασση (lxx) Jos 20:8 Et trans Jordanem contra orientalem plagam Jericho, statuerunt Bosor, quæ sita est in campestri solitudine de tribu Ruben, et Ramoth in Galaad de tribu Gad, et Gaulon in Basan de tribu Manasse.(vulgate) Jos 20:8 und jenseit des Jordans, da Jericho liegt, gegen Aufgang, gaben sie Bezer in der Wüste auf der Ebene aus dem Stamm Ruben und Ramoth in Gilead aus dem Stamm Gad und Golan in Basan aus dem Stamm Manasse.(dhs) Jos 20:8 And on the other side of the Jordan, by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness on the plain, from the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 20:9 ============ Jos 20:9 These were the appointed cities for all the sons of Israel and for the stranger who sojourns among them, that whoever kills any person unintentionally may flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood until he stands before the congregation.(nasb) Jos 20:9 αὗται αἱ πόλεις αἱ ἐπίκλητοι τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ καὶ τῷ προσηλύτῳ τῷ προσκειμένῳ ἐν αὐτοῖς καταφυγεῖν ἐκεῖ παντὶ παίοντι ψυχὴν ἀκουσίως ἵνα μὴ ἀποθάνῃ ἐν χειρὶ τοῦ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα ἕως ἂν καταστῇ ἔναντι τῆς συναγωγῆς εἰς κρίσιν (lxx) Jos 20:9 Hæ civitates constitutæ sunt cunctis filiis Israël, et advenis qui habitabant inter eos, ut fugeret ad eas qui animam nescius percussisset, et non moreretur in manu proximi, effusum sanguinem vindicare cupientis, donec staret ante populum expositurus causam suam.(vulgate) Jos 20:9 Das waren die Städte, bestimmt allen Kindern Israel und den Fremdlingen, die unter ihnen wohnten, daß dahin fliehe, wer eine Seele unversehens schlägt, daß er nicht sterbe durch den Bluträcher, bis daß er vor der Gemeinde gestanden sei.(dhs) Jos 20:9 These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel and for the stranger who dwelt among them, that whoever killed a person accidentally might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood until he stood before the congregation.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 21:1 ============ top of the page
