Today's Date: ======= Judges 12:1 ============ Jdg 12:1 Then the men of Ephraim were summoned, and they crossed to Zaphon and said to Jephthah, "Why did you cross over to fight against the sons of Ammon without calling us to go with you? We will burn your house down on you."(nasb) Jdg 12:1 καὶ ἐβόησεν ἀνὴρ Εφραιμ καὶ παρῆλθαν εἰς βορρᾶν καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς Ιεφθαε διὰ τί παρῆλθες παρατάξασθαι ἐν υἱοῖς Αμμων καὶ ἡμᾶς οὐ κέκληκας πορευθῆναι μετὰ σοῦ τὸν οἶκόν σου ἐμπρήσομεν ἐπὶ σὲ ἐν πυρί (lxx) Jdg 12:1 Ecce autem in Ephraim orta est seditio: nam transeuntes contra aquilonem, dixerunt ad Jephte: Quare vadens ad pugnam contra filios Ammon, vocare nos noluisti, ut pergeremus tecum? igitur incendemus domum tuam.(vulgate) Jdg 12:1 Und die von Ephraim kamen zuhauf und gingen mitternachtwärts und sprachen zu Jephthah: Warum bist du in den Streit gezogen wider die Kinder Ammon und hast uns nicht gerufen, daß wir mit dir zögen? Wir wollen dein Haus samt dir mit Feuer verbrennen.(dhs) Jdg 12:1 Then the men of Ephraim gathered together, crossed over toward Zaphon, and said to Jephthah, "Why did you cross over to fight against the people of Ammon, and did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house down on you with fire!"(nkjv) ======= Judges 12:2 ============ Jdg 12:2 Jephthah said to them, "I and my people were at great strife with the sons of Ammon; when I called you, you did not deliver me from their hand.(nasb) Jdg 12:2 καὶ εἶπεν Ιεφθαε πρὸς αὐτούς ἀνὴρ μαχητὴς ἤμην ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ λαός μου καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων σφόδρα καὶ ἐβόησα ὑμᾶς καὶ οὐκ ἐσώσατέ με ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτῶν (lxx) Jdg 12:2 Quibus ille respondit: Disceptatio erat mihi et populo meo contra filios Ammon vehemens: vocavique vos, ut præberetis mihi auxilium, et facere noluistis.(vulgate) Jdg 12:2 Jephthah sprach zu ihnen: ich und mein Volk hatten eine große Sache mit den Kindern Ammon, und ich schrie euch an, aber ihr halft mir nicht aus ihren Händen.(dhs) Jdg 12:2 And Jephthah said to them, "My people and I were in a great struggle with the people of Ammon; and when I called you, you did not deliver me out of their hands.(nkjv) ======= Judges 12:3 ============ Jdg 12:3 When I saw that you would not deliver me, I took my life in my hands and crossed over against the sons of Ammon, and the Lord gave them into my hand. Why then have you come up to me this day to fight against me?"(nasb) Jdg 12:3 καὶ εἶδον ὅτι οὐκ εἶ σωτήρ καὶ ἔθηκα τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐν χειρί μου καὶ παρῆλθον πρὸς υἱοὺς Αμμων καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος ἐν χειρί μου καὶ εἰς τί ἀνέβητε ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ παρατάξασθαι ἐν ἐμοί (lxx) Jdg 12:3 Quod cernens, posui animam meam in manibus meis, transivique ad filios Ammon, et tradidit eos Dominus in manus meas. Quid commerui, ut adversum me consurgatis in prælium?(vulgate) Jdg 12:3 Da ich nun sah, daß ihr nicht helfen wolltet, stellte ich meine Seele in meine Hand und zog hin wider die Kinder Ammon, und der HERR gab sie in meine Hand. Warum kommt ihr nun zu mir herauf, wider mich zu streiten?(dhs) Jdg 12:3 So when I saw that you would not deliver me, I took my life in my hands and crossed over against the people of Ammon; and the Lord delivered them into my hand. Why then have you come up to me this day to fight against me?"(nkjv) ======= Judges 12:4 ============ Jdg 12:4 Then Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead and fought Ephraim; and the men of Gilead defeated Ephraim, because they said, "You are fugitives of Ephraim, O Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim and in the midst of Manasseh."(nasb) Jdg 12:4 καὶ συνέστρεψεν Ιεφθαε τοὺς πάντας ἄνδρας Γαλααδ καὶ παρετάξατο τῷ Εφραιμ καὶ ἐπάταξαν ἄνδρες Γαλααδ τὸν Εφραιμ ὅτι εἶπαν οἱ διασῳζόμενοι τοῦ Εφραιμ ὑμεῖς Γαλααδ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Εφραιμ καὶ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Μανασση (lxx) Jdg 12:4 Vocatis itaque ad se cunctis viris Galaad, pugnabat contra Ephraim: percusseruntque viri Galaad Ephraim, quia dixerat: Fugitivus est Galaad de Ephraim, et habitat in medio Ephraim et Manasse.(vulgate) Jdg 12:4 Und Jephthah sammelte alle Männer in Gilead und stritt wider Ephraim. Und die Männer in Gilead schlugen Ephraim, darum daß sie sagten: Seid doch ihr Gileaditer unter Ephraim und Manasse als die Flüchtigen Ephraims.(dhs) Jdg 12:4 Now Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead and fought against Ephraim. And the men of Gilead defeated Ephraim, because they said, "You Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites and among the Manassites."(nkjv) ======= Judges 12:5 ============ Jdg 12:5 The Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan opposite Ephraim. And it happened when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said, "Let me cross over," the men of Gilead would say to him, "Are you an Ephraimite?" If he said, "No,"(nasb) Jdg 12:5 καὶ προκατελάβετο Γαλααδ τὰς διαβάσεις τοῦ Ιορδάνου τοῦ Εφραιμ καὶ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς οἱ διασῳζόμενοι Εφραιμ διαβῶμεν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς οἱ ἄνδρες Γαλααδ μὴ Εφραθίτης εἶ καὶ εἶπεν οὔ (lxx) Jdg 12:5 Occupaveruntque Galaaditæ vada Jordanis, per quæ Ephraim reversurus erat. Cumque venisset ad ea de Ephraim numero, fugiens, atque dixisset: Obsecro ut me transire permittatis: dicebant ei Galaaditæ: Numquid Ephrathæus es? quo dicente: Non sum:(vulgate) Jdg 12:5 Und die Gileaditer nahmen ein die Furten des Jordans vor Ephraim. Wenn nun die Flüchtigen Ephraims sprachen: Laß mich hinübergehen! so sprachen die Männer von Gilead zu Ihm: Bist du ein Ephraimiter? Wenn er dann antwortete: Nein!(dhs) Jdg 12:5 The Gileadites seized the fords of the Jordan before the Ephraimites arrived. And when any Ephraimite who escaped said, "Let me cross over," the men of Gilead would say to him, "Are you an Ephraimite?" If he said, "No,"(nkjv) ======= Judges 12:6 ============ Jdg 12:6 then they would say to him, "Say now, 'Shibboleth.'" But he said, "Sibboleth," for he could not pronounce it correctly. Then they seized him and slew him at the fords of the Jordan. Thus there fell at that time 42,000 of Ephraim.(nasb) Jdg 12:6 καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ εἰπὸν δὴ στάχυς καὶ οὐ κατεύθυνεν τοῦ λαλῆσαι οὕτως καὶ ἐπελάβοντο αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθυσαν αὐτὸν πρὸς τὰς διαβάσεις τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἔπεσαν ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἀπὸ Εφραιμ τεσσαράκοντα δύο χιλιάδες (lxx) Jdg 12:6 interrogabant eum: Dic ergo Scibboleth, quod interpretatur Spica. Qui respondebat: Sibboleth: eadem littera spicam exprimere non valens. Statimque apprehensum jugulabant in ipso Jordanis transitu. Et ceciderunt in illo tempore de Ephraim quadraginta duo millia.~(vulgate) Jdg 12:6 hießen sie ihn sprechen: Schiboleth; so sprach er Siboleth und konnte es nicht recht reden; alsdann griffen sie ihn schlugen ihn an den Furten des Jordans, daß zu der Zeit von Ephraim fielen zweiundvierzigtausend.(dhs) Jdg 12:6 then they would say to him, "Then say, 'Shibboleth'!" And he would say, "Sibboleth," for he could not pronounce it right. Then they would take him and kill him at the fords of the Jordan. There fell at that time forty-two thousand Ephraimites.(nkjv) ======= Judges 12:7 ============ Jdg 12:7 Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.(nasb) Jdg 12:7 καὶ ἔκρινεν Ιεφθαε τὸν Ισραηλ ἑξήκοντα ἔτη καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ιεφθαε ὁ Γαλααδίτης καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν πόλει αὐτοῦ ἐν Γαλααδ (lxx) Jdg 12:7 Judicavit itaque Jephte Galaadites Israël sex annis: et mortuus est, ac sepultus in civitate sua Galaad.~(vulgate) Jdg 12:7 Jephthah aber richtete Israel sechs Jahre. Und Jephthah, der Gileaditer, starb und ward begraben in den Städten zu Gilead.(dhs) Jdg 12:7 And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died and was buried in among the cities of Gilead.(nkjv) ======= Judges 12:8 ============ Jdg 12:8 Now Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel after him.(nasb) Jdg 12:8 καὶ ἔκρινεν μετ᾽ αὐτὸν τὸν Ισραηλ Αβαισαν ἀπὸ Βαιθλεεμ (lxx) Jdg 12:8 Post hunc judicavit Israël Abesan de Bethlehem:(vulgate) Jdg 12:8 Nach diesem richtete Israel Ebzan von Bethlehem.(dhs) Jdg 12:8 After him, Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.(nkjv) ======= Judges 12:9 ============ Jdg 12:9 He had thirty sons, and thirty daughters whom he gave in marriage outside the family, and he brought in thirty daughters from outside for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.(nasb) Jdg 12:9 καὶ ἦσαν αὐτῷ τριάκοντα υἱοὶ καὶ τριάκοντα θυγατέρες ἃς ἐξαπέστειλεν ἔξω καὶ τριάκοντα θυγατέρας εἰσήνεγκεν τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ ἔξωθεν καὶ ἔκρινεν τὸν Ισραηλ ἑπτὰ ἔτη (lxx) Jdg 12:9 qui habuit triginta filios, et totidem filias, quas emittens foras, maritis dedit, et ejusdem numeri filiis suis accepit uxores, introducens in domum suam. Qui septem annis judicavit Israël:(vulgate) Jdg 12:9 Der hatte dreißig Söhne, und dreißig Töchter gab er hinaus, und dreißig Töchter nahm er von außen seinen Söhnen; er richtete Israel sieben Jahre(dhs) Jdg 12:9 He had thirty sons. And he gave away thirty daughters in marriage, and brought in thirty daughters from elsewhere for his sons.
