Today's Date: ======= 1 Samuel 21:1 ============ 1Sa 21:1 Then David came to Nob to Ahimelech the priest; and Ahimelech came trembling to meet David and said to him, "Why are you alone and no one with you?"(nasb) 1Sa 21:1 καὶ ἀνέστη Δαυιδ καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ Ιωναθαν εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν (lxx) 1Sa 21:1 Venit autem David in Nobe ad Achimelech sacerdotem: et obstupuit Achimelech, eo quod venisset David. Et dixit ei: Quare tu solus, et nullus est tecum?(vulgate) 1Sa 21:1 David aber kam gen Nobe zum Priester Ahimelech. Und Ahimelech entsetzte sich, da er David entgegenging, und sprach zu ihm: Warum kommst du allein und ist kein Mann mit dir?(dhs) 1Sa 21:1 Now David came to Nob, to Ahimelech the priest. And Ahimelech was afraid when he met David, and said to him, "Why are you alone, and no one is with you?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:2 ============ 1Sa 21:2 David said to Ahimelech the priest, "The king has commissioned me with a matter and has said to me, 'Let no one know anything about the matter on which I am sending you and with which I have commissioned you; and I have directed the young men to a certain place.'(nasb) 1Sa 21:2 καὶ ἔρχεται Δαυιδ εἰς Νομβα πρὸς Αβιμελεχ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ ἐξέστη Αβιμελεχ τῇ ἀπαντήσει αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τί ὅτι σὺ μόνος καὶ οὐθεὶς μετὰ σοῦ (lxx) 1Sa 21:2 Et ait David ad Achimelech sacerdotem: Rex præcepit mihi sermonem, et dixit: Nemo sciat rem propter quam missus es a me, et cujusmodi præcepta tibi dederim: nam et pueris condixi in illum et illum locum.(vulgate) 1Sa 21:2 David sprach zu Ahimelech, dem Priester: Der König hat mir eine Sache befohlen und sprach zu mir: Laß niemand wissen, warum ich dich gesandt habe und was ich dir befohlen habe. Denn ich habe auch meine Leute an den und den Ort beschieden.(dhs) 1Sa 21:2 So David said to Ahimelech the priest, "The king has ordered me on some business, and said to me, 'Do not let anyone know anything about the business on which I send you, or what I have commanded you.' And I have directed my young men to such and such a place.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:3 ============ 1Sa 21:3 Now therefore, what do you have on hand? Give me five loaves of bread, or whatever can be found."(nasb) 1Sa 21:3 καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ τῷ ἱερεῖ ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐντέταλταί μοι ῥῆμα σήμερον καὶ εἶπέν μοι μηδεὶς γνώτω τὸ ῥῆμα περὶ οὗ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω σε καὶ ὑπὲρ οὗ ἐντέταλμαί σοι καὶ τοῖς παιδαρίοις διαμεμαρτύρημαι ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τῷ λεγομένῳ θεοῦ πίστις Φελλανι Αλεμωνι (lxx) 1Sa 21:3 Nunc ergo si quid habes ad manum, vel quinque panes, da mihi, aut quidquid inveneris.(vulgate) 1Sa 21:3 Hast du nun etwas unter deiner Hand, ein Brot oder fünf, die gib mir in meine Hand, oder was du findest.(dhs) 1Sa 21:3 Now therefore, what have you on hand? Give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or whatever can be found."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:4 ============ 1Sa 21:4 The priest answered David and said, "There is no ordinary bread on hand, but there is consecrated bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women."(nasb) 1Sa 21:4 καὶ νῦν εἰ εἰσὶν ὑπὸ τὴν χεῖρά σου πέντε ἄρτοι δὸς εἰς χεῖρά μου τὸ εὑρεθέν (lxx) 1Sa 21:4 Et respondens sacerdos ad David, ait illi: Non habeo laicos panes ad manum, sed tantum panem sanctum: si mundi sunt pueri, maxime a mulieribus?(vulgate) 1Sa 21:4 Der Priester antwortete David und sprach: Ich habe kein gemeines Brot unter meiner Hand, sondern heiliges Brot; wenn sich nur die Leute von Weibern enthalten hätten!(dhs) 1Sa 21:4 And the priest answered David and said, "There is no common bread on hand; but there is holy bread, if the young men have at least kept themselves from women."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:5 ============ 1Sa 21:5 David answered the priest and said to him, "Surely women have been kept from us as previously when I set out and the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was an ordinary journey; how much more then today will their vessels be holy?"(nasb) 1Sa 21:5 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ ἱερεὺς τῷ Δαυιδ καὶ εἶπεν οὐκ εἰσὶν ἄρτοι βέβηλοι ὑπὸ τὴν χεῖρά μου ὅτι ἀλλ᾽ ἢ ἄρτοι ἅγιοι εἰσίν εἰ πεφυλαγμένα τὰ παιδάριά ἐστιν ἀπὸ γυναικός καὶ φάγεται (lxx) 1Sa 21:5 Et respondit David sacerdoti, et dixit ei: Equidem, si de mulieribus agitur: continuimus nos ab heri et nudiustertius quando egrediebamur, et fuerunt vasa puerorum sancta. Porro via hæc polluta est, sed et ipsa hodie sanctificabitur in vasis.(vulgate) 1Sa 21:5 David antwortete dem Priester und sprach zu ihm: Es sind die Weiber drei Tage uns versperrt gewesen, da ich auszog, und der Leute Zeug war heilig; ist aber dieser Weg unheilig, so wird er heute geheiligt werden an dem Zeuge.(dhs) 1Sa 21:5 Then David answered the priest, and said to him, "Truly, women have been kept from us about three days since I came out. And the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in effect common, even though it was sanctified in the vessel this day."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:6 ============ 1Sa 21:6 So the priest gave him consecrated bread; for there was no bread there but the bread of the Presence which was removed from before the Lord, in order to put hot bread in its place when it was taken away.(nasb) 1Sa 21:6 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Δαυιδ τῷ ἱερεῖ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἀλλὰ ἀπὸ γυναικὸς ἀπεσχήμεθα ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν ἐν τῷ ἐξελθεῖν με εἰς ὁδὸν γέγονε πάντα τὰ παιδάρια ἡγνισμένα καὶ αὐτὴ ἡ ὁδὸς βέβηλος διότι ἁγιασθήσεται σήμερον διὰ τὰ σκεύη μου (lxx) 1Sa 21:6 Dedit ergo ei sacerdos sanctificatum panem: neque enim erat ibi panis, nisi tantum panes propositionis, qui sublati fuerant a facie Domini, ut ponerentur panes calidi.(vulgate) 1Sa 21:6 Da gab ihm der Priester von dem heiligen Brot, weil kein anderes da war denn die Schaubrote, die man vor dem HERRN abhob, daß man anderes frisches Brot auflegte des Tages, da man sie wegnahm.(dhs) 1Sa 21:6 So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the showbread which had been taken from before the Lord, in order to put hot bread in its place on the day when it was taken away.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:7 ============ 1Sa 21:7 Now one of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the Lord; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the chief of Saul's shepherds.(nasb) 1Sa 21:7 καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ Αβιμελεχ ὁ ἱερεὺς τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως ὅτι οὐκ ἦν ἐκεῖ ἄρτος ὅτι ἀλλ᾽ ἢ ἄρτοι τοῦ προσώπου οἱ ἀφῃρημένοι ἐκ προσώπου κυρίου παρατεθῆναι ἄρτον θερμὸν ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἔλαβεν αὐτούς (lxx) 1Sa 21:7 Erat autem ibi vir quidam de servis Saul in die illa, intus in tabernaculo Domini: et nomen ejus Doëg Idumæus, potentissimus pastorum Saul.(vulgate) 1Sa 21:7 Es war aber des Tages ein Mann drinnen versperrt vor dem HERRN aus den Knechten Sauls, mit Namen Doeg, ein Edomiter, der mächtigste unter den Hirten Sauls.(dhs) 1Sa 21:7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the Lord. And his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chief of the herdsmen who belonged to Saul.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:8 ============ 1Sa 21:8 David said to Ahimelech, "Now is there not a spear or a sword on hand? For I brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's matter was urgent."(nasb) 1Sa 21:8 καὶ ἐκεῖ ἦν ἓν τῶν παιδαρίων τοῦ Σαουλ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ συνεχόμενος νεεσσαραν ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Δωηκ ὁ Σύρος νέμων τὰς ἡμιόνους Σαουλ (lxx) 1Sa 21:8 Dixit autem David ad Achimelech: Si habes hic ad manum hastam aut gladium? quia gladium meum et arma mea non tuli mecum: sermo enim regis urgebat.(vulgate) 1Sa 21:8 Und David sprach zu Ahimelech: Ist nicht hier unter deiner Hand ein Spieß oder Schwert? Ich habe mein Schwert und meine Waffen nicht mit mir genommen; denn die Sache des Königs war eilend.(dhs) 1Sa 21:8 And David said to Ahimelech, "Is there not here on hand a spear or a sword? For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:9 ============ 1Sa 21:9 Then the priest said, "The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the valley of Elah, behold, it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod; if you would take it for yourself, take it. For there is no other except it here." And David said, "There is none like it; give it to me."(nasb) 1Sa 21:9 καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Αβιμελεχ ἰδὲ εἰ ἔστιν ἐνταῦθα ὑπὸ τὴν χεῖρά σου δόρυ ἢ ῥομφαία ὅτι τὴν ῥομφαίαν μου καὶ τὰ σκεύη οὐκ εἴληφα ἐν τῇ χειρί μου ὅτι ἦν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦ βασιλέως κατὰ σπουδήν (lxx) 1Sa 21:9 Et dixit sacerdos: Ecce hic gladius Goliath Philisthæi, quem percussisti in Valle terebinthi: est involutus pallio post ephod: si istum vis tollere, tolle: neque enim hic est alius absque eo. Et ait David: Non est huic alter similis: da mihi eum.~(vulgate) 1Sa 21:9 Der Priester sprach: Das Schwert des Philisters Goliath, den du schlugst im Eichgrunde, das ist hier, gewickelt in einen Mantel hinter dem Leibrock. Willst du das, so nimm's hin; denn es ist hier kein anderes als das. David sprach: Es ist seinesgleichen nicht; gib mir's!(dhs) 1Sa 21:9 So the priest said, "The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. And David said, "There is none like it; give it to me."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:10 ============ 1Sa 21:10 Then David arose and fled that day from Saul, and went to Achish king of Gath.(nasb) 1Sa 21:10 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἱερεύς ἰδοὺ ἡ ῥομφαία Γολιαθ τοῦ ἀλλοφύλου ὃν ἐπάταξας ἐν τῇ κοιλάδι Ηλα καὶ αὐτὴ ἐνειλημένη ἐν ἱματίῳ εἰ ταύτην λήμψῃ σεαυτῷ λαβέ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἑτέρα πάρεξ ταύτης ἐνταῦθα καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἔστιν ὥσπερ αὐτή δός μοι αὐτήν (lxx) 1Sa 21:10 Surrexit itaque David, et fugit in die illa a facie Saul: et venit ad Achis regem Geth.(vulgate) 1Sa 21:10 Und David machte sich auf und floh vor Saul und kam zu Achis, dem König zu Gath.(dhs) 1Sa 21:10 Then David arose and fled that day from before Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:11 ============ 1Sa 21:11 But the servants of Achish said to him, "Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of this one as they danced, saying, 'Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands'?"(nasb) 1Sa 21:11 καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν αὐτῷ καὶ ἀνέστη Δαυιδ καὶ ἔφυγεν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐκ προσώπου Σαουλ καὶ ἦλθεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Αγχους βασιλέα Γεθ (lxx) 1Sa 21:11 Dixeruntque servi Achis ad eum cum vidissent David: Numquid non iste est David rex terræ? nonne huic cantabant per choros, dicentes: [Percussit Saul mille, et David decem millia?](vulgate) 1Sa 21:11 Aber die Knechte des Achis sprachen zu ihm: Das ist der David, des Landes König, von dem sie sangen im Reigen und sprachen: Saul schlug tausend, David aber zehntausend.(dhs) 1Sa 21:11 And the servants of Achish said to him, "Is this not David the king of the land?
