Today's Date: ======= 1 Kings 19:1 ============ 1Ki 19:1 Now Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.(nasb) 1Ki 19:1 καὶ ἀνήγγειλεν Αχααβ τῇ Ιεζαβελ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ πάντα ἃ ἐποίησεν Ηλιου καὶ ὡς ἀπέκτεινεν τοὺς προφήτας ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ (lxx) 1Ki 19:1 Nuntiavit autem Achab Jezabel omnia quæ fecerat Elias, et quomodo occidisset universos prophetas gladio.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:1 Und Ahab sagte Isebel alles an, was Elia getan hatte und wie er hatte alle Propheten Baals mit dem Schwert erwürgt.(dhs) 1Ki 19:1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:2 ============ 1Ki 19:2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time."(nasb) 1Ki 19:2 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ιεζαβελ πρὸς Ηλιου καὶ εἶπεν εἰ σὺ εἶ Ηλιου καὶ ἐγὼ Ιεζαβελ τάδε ποιήσαι μοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ τάδε προσθείη ὅτι ταύτην τὴν ὥραν αὔριον θήσομαι τὴν ψυχήν σου καθὼς ψυχὴν ἑνὸς ἐξ αὐτῶν (lxx) 1Ki 19:2 Misitque Jezabel nuntium ad Eliam, dicens: Hæc mihi faciant dii, et hæc addant, nisi hac hora cras posuero animam tuam sicut animam unius ex illis.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:2 Da sandte Isebel einen Boten zu Elia und ließ ihm sagen: Die Götter tun mir dies und das, wo ich nicht morgen um diese Zeit deiner Seele tue wie dieser Seelen einer.(dhs) 1Ki 19:2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time."(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:3 ============ 1Ki 19:3 And he was afraid and arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.(nasb) 1Ki 19:3 καὶ ἐφοβήθη Ηλιου καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἀπῆλθεν κατὰ τὴν ψυχὴν ἑαυτοῦ καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς Βηρσαβεε τὴν Ιουδα καὶ ἀφῆκεν τὸ παιδάριον αὐτοῦ ἐκεῖ (lxx) 1Ki 19:3 Timuit ergo Elias, et surgens abiit quocumque eum ferebat voluntas: venitque in Bersabee Juda, et dimisit ibi puerum suum,(vulgate) 1Ki 19:3 Da er das sah, machte er sich auf und ging hin um seines Lebens willen und kam gen Beer-Seba in Juda und ließ seinen Diener daselbst.(dhs) 1Ki 19:3 And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:4 ============ 1Ki 19:4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree; and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is enough; now, O Lord, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers."(nasb) 1Ki 19:4 καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπορεύθη ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ὁδὸν ἡμέρας καὶ ἦλθεν καὶ ἐκάθισεν ὑπὸ ραθμ ἓν καὶ ᾐτήσατο τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἀποθανεῖν καὶ εἶπεν ἱκανούσθω νῦν λαβὲ δὴ τὴν ψυχήν μου ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ κύριε ὅτι οὐ κρείσσων ἐγώ εἰμι ὑπὲρ τοὺς πατέρας μου (lxx) 1Ki 19:4 et perrexit in desertum, viam unius diei. Cumque venisset, et sederet subter unam juniperum, petivit animæ suæ ut moreretur, et ait: Sufficit mihi, Domine: tolle animam meam: neque enim melior sum quam patres mei.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:4 Er aber ging hin in die Wüste eine Tagereise und kam hinein und setzte sich unter einen Wacholder und bat, daß seine Seele stürbe, und sprach: Es ist genug, so nimm nun, HERR, meine Seele; ich bin nicht besser denn meine Väter.(dhs) 1Ki 19:4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, "It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!"(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:5 ============ 1Ki 19:5 He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, there was an angel touching him, and he said to him, "Arise, eat."(nasb) 1Ki 19:5 καὶ ἐκοιμήθη καὶ ὕπνωσεν ἐκεῖ ὑπὸ φυτόν καὶ ἰδού τις ἥψατο αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἀνάστηθι καὶ φάγε (lxx) 1Ki 19:5 Projecitque se, et obdormivit in umbra juniperi: et ecce angelus Domini tetigit eum, et dixit illi: Surge, et comede.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:5 Und er legte sich und schlief unter dem Wacholder. So he ate and drank and lay down again.(nasb) 1Ki 19:6 καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν Ηλιου καὶ ἰδοὺ πρὸς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ ἐγκρυφίας ὀλυρίτης καὶ καψάκης ὕδατος καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἔφαγεν καὶ ἔπιεν καὶ ἐπιστρέψας ἐκοιμήθη (lxx) 1Ki 19:6 Respexit, et ecce ad caput suum subcinericius panis, et vas aquæ: comedit ergo, et bibit, et rursum obdormivit.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:6 Und er sah sich um, und siehe, zu seinen Häupten lag ein geröstetes Brot und eine Kanne mit Wasser. Und da er gegessen und getrunken hatte, legte er sich wieder schlafen.(dhs) 1Ki 19:6 Then he looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and lay down again.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:7 ============ 1Ki 19:7 The angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, "Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you."(nasb) 1Ki 19:7 καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἐκ δευτέρου καὶ ἥψατο αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἀνάστα φάγε ὅτι πολλὴ ἀπὸ σοῦ ἡ ὁδός (lxx) 1Ki 19:7 Reversusque est angelus Domini secundo, et tetigit eum, dixitque illi: Surge, comede: grandis enim tibi restat via.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:7 Und der Engel des HERRN kam zum andernmal wieder und rührte ihn an und sprach: Steh auf und iß! denn du hast einen großen Weg vor dir.(dhs) 1Ki 19:7 And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, "Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you."(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:8 ============ 1Ki 19:8 So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God.(nasb) 1Ki 19:8 καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἔφαγεν καὶ ἔπιεν καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐν τῇ ἰσχύι τῆς βρώσεως ἐκείνης τεσσαράκοντα ἡμέρας καὶ τεσσαράκοντα νύκτας ἕως ὄρους Χωρηβ (lxx) 1Ki 19:8 Qui cum surrexisset, comedit et bibit, et ambulavit in fortitudine cibi illius quadraginta diebus et quadraginta noctibus usque ad montem Dei Horeb.~(vulgate) 1Ki 19:8 Er stand auf und aß und trank und ging durch die Kraft derselben Speise vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte bis an den Berg Gottes Horeb(dhs) 1Ki 19:8 So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:9 ============ 1Ki 19:9 Then he came there to a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"(nasb) 1Ki 19:9 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ἐκεῖ εἰς τὸ σπήλαιον καὶ κατέλυσεν ἐκεῖ καὶ ἰδοὺ ῥῆμα κυρίου πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν τί σὺ ἐνταῦθα Ηλιου (lxx) 1Ki 19:9 Cumque venisset illuc, mansit in spelunca: et ecce sermo Domini ad eum, dixitque illi: Quid hic agis, Elia?(vulgate) 1Ki 19:9 und kam daselbst in eine Höhle und blieb daselbst über Nacht. Und siehe, das Wort des HERRN kam zu ihm und sprach zu ihm: Was machst du hier, Elia?(dhs) 1Ki 19:9 And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:10 ============ 1Ki 19:10 He said, "I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."(nasb) 1Ki 19:10 καὶ εἶπεν Ηλιου ζηλῶν ἐζήλωκα τῷ κυρίῳ παντοκράτορι ὅτι ἐγκατέλιπόν σε οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὰ θυσιαστήριά σου κατέσκαψαν καὶ τοὺς προφήτας σου ἀπέκτειναν ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ καὶ ὑπολέλειμμαι ἐγὼ μονώτατος καὶ ζητοῦσι τὴν ψυχήν μου λαβεῖν αὐτήν (lxx) 1Ki 19:10 At ille respondit: Zelo zelatus sum pro Domino Deo exercituum, quia dereliquerunt pactum tuum filii Israël: altaria tua destruxerunt, prophetas tuos occiderunt gladio, derelictus sum ego solus, et quærunt animam meam ut auferant eam.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:10 Er sprach: Ich habe geeifert um den HERRN, den Gott Zebaoth; denn die Kinder Israel haben deinen Bund verlassen und deine Altäre zerbrochen und deine Propheten mit dem Schwert erwürgt, und ich bin allein übriggeblieben, und sie stehen darnach, daß sie mir mein Leben nehmen.(dhs) 1Ki 19:10 So he said, "I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life."(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:11 ============ 1Ki 19:11 So He said, "Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord." And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.(nasb) 1Ki 19:11 καὶ εἶπεν ἐξελεύσῃ αὔριον καὶ στήσῃ ἐνώπιον κυρίου ἐν τῷ ὄρει ἰδοὺ παρελεύσεται κύριος καὶ πνεῦμα μέγα κραταιὸν διαλῦον ὄρη καὶ συντρῖβον πέτρας ἐνώπιον κυρίου οὐκ ἐν τῷ πνεύματι κύριος καὶ μετὰ τὸ πνεῦμα συσσεισμός οὐκ ἐν τῷ συσσεισμῷ κύριος (lxx) 1Ki 19:11 Et ait ei: Egredere, et sta in monte coram Domino: et ecce Dominus transit. Et spiritus grandis et fortis subvertens montes, et conterens petras, ante Dominum: non in spiritu Dominus. Et post spiritum commotio: non in commotione Dominus.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:11 Er sprach: Gehe heraus und tritt auf den Berg vor den HERRN! Und siehe, der HERR ging vorüber und ein großer, starker Wind, der die Berge zerriß und die Felsen zerbrach, vor dem HERRN her; der HERR war aber nicht im Winde. Nach dem Winde aber kam ein Erdbeben; aber der HERR war nicht im Erdbeben.(dhs) 1Ki 19:11 Then He said, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord." And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake;(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:12 ============ 1Ki 19:12 After the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing.(nasb) 1Ki 19:12 καὶ μετὰ τὸν συσσεισμὸν πῦρ οὐκ ἐν τῷ πυρὶ κύριος καὶ μετὰ τὸ πῦρ φωνὴ αὔρας λεπτῆς κἀκεῖ κύριος (lxx) 1Ki 19:12 Et post commotionem ignis: non in igne Dominus. Et post ignem sibilus auræ tenuis.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:12 Und nach dem Erdbeben kam ein Feuer; aber der HERR war nicht im Feuer. Und nach dem Feuer kam ein stilles, sanftes Sausen.(dhs) 1Ki 19:12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:13 ============ 1Ki 19:13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"(nasb) 1Ki 19:13 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν Ηλιου καὶ ἐπεκάλυψεν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ μηλωτῇ ἑαυτοῦ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν καὶ ἔστη ὑπὸ τὸ σπήλαιον καὶ ἰδοὺ πρὸς αὐτὸν φωνὴ καὶ εἶπεν τί σὺ ἐνταῦθα Ηλιου (lxx) 1Ki 19:13 Quod cum audisset Elias, operuit vultum suum pallio, et egressus stetit in ostio speluncæ. Et ecce vox ad eum dicens: Quid hic agis, Elia? Et ille respondit:(vulgate) 1Ki 19:13 Da das Elia hörte, verhüllte er sein Antlitz mit seinem Mantel und ging heraus und trat in die Tür der Höhle. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life."(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:15 ============ 1Ki 19:15 The Lord said to him, "Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and when you have arrived, you shall anoint Hazael king over Aram;(nasb) 1Ki 19:15 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς αὐτόν πορεύου ἀνάστρεφε εἰς τὴν ὁδόν σου καὶ ἥξεις εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν ἐρήμου Δαμασκοῦ καὶ χρίσεις τὸν Αζαηλ εἰς βασιλέα τῆς Συρίας (lxx) 1Ki 19:15 Et ait Dominus ad eum: Vade, et revertere in viam tuam per desertum in Damascum: cumque perveneris illuc, unges Hazaël regem super Syriam,(vulgate) 1Ki 19:15 Aber der HERR sprach zu ihm: Gehe wiederum deines Weges durch die Wüste gen Damaskus und gehe hinein und salbe Hasael zum König über Syrien,(dhs) 1Ki 19:15 Then the Lord said to him: "Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:16 ============ 1Ki 19:16 and Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint king over Israel; and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.(nasb) 1Ki 19:16 καὶ τὸν Ιου υἱὸν Ναμεσσι χρίσεις εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ τὸν Ελισαιε υἱὸν Σαφατ ἀπὸ Αβελμαουλα χρίσεις εἰς προφήτην ἀντὶ σοῦ (lxx) 1Ki 19:16 et Jehu filium Namsi unges regem super Israël: Eliseum autem filium Saphat, qui est de Abelmehula, unges prophetam pro te.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:16 Und Jehu, den Sohn Nimsis, zum König über Israel, und Elisa, den Sohn Saphats, von Abel-Mehola, zum Propheten an deiner Statt.(dhs) 1Ki 19:16 Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:17 ============ 1Ki 19:17 It shall come about, the one who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall put to death, and the one who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall put to death.(nasb) 1Ki 19:17 καὶ ἔσται τὸν σῳζόμενον ἐκ ῥομφαίας Αζαηλ θανατώσει Ιου καὶ τὸν σῳζόμενον ἐκ ῥομφαίας Ιου θανατώσει Ελισαιε (lxx) 1Ki 19:17 Et erit: quicumque fugerit gladium Hazaël, occidet eum Jehu: et quicumque fugerit gladium Jehu, interficiet eum Eliseus.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:17 Und es soll geschehen, daß wer dem Schwert Hasaels entrinnt, den soll Jehu töten.(dhs) 1Ki 19:17 It shall be that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:18 ============ 1Ki 19:18 Yet I will leave 7,000 in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him."(nasb) 1Ki 19:18 καὶ καταλείψεις ἐν Ισραηλ ἑπτὰ χιλιάδας ἀνδρῶν πάντα γόνατα ἃ οὐκ ὤκλασαν γόνυ τῷ Βααλ καὶ πᾶν στόμα ὃ οὐ προσεκύνησεν αὐτῷ (lxx) 1Ki 19:18 Et derelinquam mihi in Israël septem millia virorum, quorum genua non sunt incurvata ante Baal, et omne os quod non adoravit eum osculans manus.~(vulgate) 1Ki 19:18 Und ich will übriglassen siebentausend in Israel: alle Kniee, die sich nicht gebeugt haben vor Baal, und allen Mund, der ihn nicht geküßt hat.(dhs) 1Ki 19:18 Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him."(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:19 ============ 1Ki 19:19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, while he was plowing with twelve pairs of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth. And Elijah passed over to him and threw his mantle on him.(nasb) 1Ki 19:19 καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν καὶ εὑρίσκει τὸν Ελισαιε υἱὸν Σαφατ καὶ αὐτὸς ἠροτρία ἐν βουσίν δώδεκα ζεύγη βοῶν ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτὸς ἐν τοῖς δώδεκα καὶ ἐπῆλθεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπέρριψε τὴν μηλωτὴν αὐτοῦ ἐπ᾽ αὐτόν (lxx) 1Ki 19:19 Profectus ergo inde Elias, reperit Eliseum filium Saphat, arantem in duodecim jugis boum. Et ipse in duodecim jugis boum arantibus unus erat: cumque venisset Elias ad eum, misit pallium suum super illum.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:19 Und er ging von dannen und fand Elisa, den Sohn Saphats, daß er pflügte mit zwölf Jochen vor sich hin; und er war selbst bei dem zwölften. Und Elia ging zu ihm und warf seinen Mantel auf ihn.(dhs) 1Ki 19:19 So he departed from there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he was with the twelfth. Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 19:20 ============ 1Ki 19:20 He left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, "Please let me kiss my father and my mother, then I will follow you." And he said to him, "Go back again, for what have I done to you?"(nasb) 1Ki 19:20 καὶ κατέλιπεν Ελισαιε τὰς βόας καὶ κατέδραμεν ὀπίσω Ηλιου καὶ εἶπεν καταφιλήσω τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ ἀκολουθήσω ὀπίσω σου καὶ εἶπεν Ηλιου ἀνάστρεφε ὅτι πεποίηκά σοι (lxx) 1Ki 19:20 Qui statim relictis bobus cucurrit post Eliam, et ait: Osculer, oro, patrem meum, et matrem meam, et sic sequar te. Dixitque ei: Vade, et revertere: quod enim meum erat, feci tibi.(vulgate) 1Ki 19:20 Er aber ließ die Rinder und lief Elia nach und sprach: Laß mich meinen Vater und meine Mutter küssen, so will ich dir nachfolgen.
