Will you go with me to fight against Moab?" Er sprach: Den Weg durch die Wüste Edom.(dhs) 2Ki 3:8 Then he said, "Which way shall we go up?" And he answered, "By way of the Wilderness of Edom."(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:9 ============ 2Ki 3:9 So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven days' journey, and there was no water for the army or for the cattle that followed them.(nasb) 2Ki 3:9 καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιουδα καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Εδωμ καὶ ἐκύκλωσαν ὁδὸν ἑπτὰ ἡμερῶν καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὕδωρ τῇ παρεμβολῇ καὶ τοῖς κτήνεσιν τοῖς ἐν τοῖς ποσὶν αὐτῶν (lxx) 2Ki 3:9 Perrexerunt igitur rex Israël, et rex Juda, et rex Edom, et circuierunt per viam septem dierum, nec erat aqua exercitui et jumentis quæ sequebantur eos.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:9 Also zog hin der König Israels, der König Juda's und der König Edoms. Und da sie sieben Tagereisen zogen, hatte das Heer und das Vieh, das unter ihnen war kein Wasser.(dhs) 2Ki 3:9 So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they marched on that roundabout route seven days; and there was no water for the army, nor for the animals that followed them.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:10 ============ 2Ki 3:10 Then the king of Israel said, "Alas! For the Lord has called these three kings to give them into the hand of Moab."(nasb) 2Ki 3:10 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ ὦ ὅτι κέκληκεν κύριος τοὺς τρεῖς βασιλεῖς παρερχομένους δοῦναι αὐτοὺς ἐν χειρὶ Μωαβ (lxx) 2Ki 3:10 Dixitque rex Israël: Heu! heu! heu! congregavit nos Dominus tres reges ut traderet in manus Moab.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:10 Da sprach der König Israels: O wehe! der HERR hat diese drei Könige geladen, daß er sie in der Moabiter Hände gebe.(dhs) 2Ki 3:10 And the king of Israel said, "Alas! For the Lord has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab."(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:11 ============ 2Ki 3:11 But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?" And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, "Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who used to pour water on the hands of Elijah."(nasb) 2Ki 3:11 καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσαφατ οὐκ ἔστιν ὧδε προφήτης τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ἐπιζητήσωμεν τὸν κύριον παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπεκρίθη εἷς τῶν παίδων βασιλέως Ισραηλ καὶ εἶπεν ὧδε Ελισαιε υἱὸς Σαφατ ὃς ἐπέχεεν ὕδωρ ἐπὶ χεῖρας Ηλιου (lxx) 2Ki 3:11 Et ait Josaphat: Estne hic propheta Domini, ut deprecemur Dominum per eum? Et respondit unus de servis regis Israël: Est hic Eliseus filius Saphat, qui fundebat aquam super manus Eliæ.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:11 Josaphat aber sprach: Ist kein Prophet des HERRN hier, daß wir den HERRN durch ihn ratfragen? Da antwortete einer unter den Knechten des Königs Israels und sprach: Hier ist Elisa, der Sohn Saphats, der Elia Wasser auf die Hände goß.(dhs) 2Ki 3:11 But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?" So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, "Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah."(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:12 ============ 2Ki 3:12 Jehoshaphat said, "The word of the Lord is with him." So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.(nasb) 2Ki 3:12 καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσαφατ ἔστιν αὐτῷ ῥῆμα κυρίου καὶ κατέβη πρὸς αὐτὸν βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ καὶ Ιωσαφατ βασιλεὺς Ιουδα καὶ βασιλεὺς Εδωμ (lxx) 2Ki 3:12 Et ait Josaphat: Est apud eum sermo Domini. Descenditque ad eum rex Israël, et Josaphat rex Juda, et rex Edom.~(vulgate) 2Ki 3:12 Josaphat sprach: Des HERRN Wort ist bei ihm. Also zogen sie zu ihm hinab der König Israels und Josaphat und der König Edoms.(dhs) 2Ki 3:12 And Jehoshaphat said, "The word of the Lord is with him." So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:13 ============ 2Ki 3:13 Now Elisha said to the king of Israel, "What do I have to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father and to the prophets of your mother." And it came about, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.(nasb) 2Ki 3:15 καὶ νυνὶ δὲ λαβέ μοι ψάλλοντα καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἔψαλλεν ὁ ψάλλων καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν χεὶρ κυρίου (lxx) 2Ki 3:15 Nunc autem adducite mihi psaltem. Cumque caneret psaltes, facta est super eum manus Domini, et ait:(vulgate) 2Ki 3:15 So bringet mir nun einen Spielmann! Und da der Spielmann auf den Saiten spielte, kam die Hand des HERRN auf ihn,(dhs) 2Ki 3:15 But now bring me a musician." Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:16 ============ 2Ki 3:16 He said, "Thus says the Lord, 'Make this valley full of trenches.'(nasb) 2Ki 3:16 καὶ εἶπεν τάδε λέγει κύριος ποιήσατε τὸν χειμάρρουν τοῦτον βοθύνους βοθύνους (lxx) 2Ki 3:16 Hæc dicit Dominus: Facite alveum torrentis hujus fossas et fossas.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:16 und er sprach: So spricht der HERR: Macht hier und da Gräben an diesem Bach!(dhs) 2Ki 3:16 And he said, "Thus says the Lord: 'Make this valley full of ditches.'(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:17 ============ 2Ki 3:17 For thus says the Lord, 'You shall not see wind nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, both you and your cattle and your beasts.(nasb) 2Ki 3:17 ὅτι τάδε λέγει κύριος οὐκ ὄψεσθε πνεῦμα καὶ οὐκ ὄψεσθε ὑετόν καὶ ὁ χειμάρρους οὗτος πλησθήσεται ὕδατος καὶ πίεσθε ὑμεῖς καὶ αἱ κτήσεις ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ κτήνη ὑμῶν (lxx) 2Ki 3:17 Hæc enim dicit Dominus: Non videbitis ventum, neque pluviam: et alveus iste replebitur aquis, et bibetis vos, et familiæ vestræ, et jumenta vestra.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:17 Denn so spricht der HERR: Ihr werdet keinen Wind noch Regen sehen; dennoch soll der Bach voll Wasser werden, daß ihr und euer Gesinde und euer Vieh trinket.(dhs) 2Ki 3:17 For thus says the Lord: 'You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.'(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:18 ============ 2Ki 3:18 This is but a slight thing in the sight of the Lord; He will also give the Moabites into your hand.(nasb) 2Ki 3:18 καὶ κούφη αὕτη ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς κυρίου καὶ παραδώσω τὴν Μωαβ ἐν χειρὶ ὑμῶν (lxx) 2Ki 3:18 Parumque est hoc in conspectu Domini: insuper tradet etiam Moab in manus vestras.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:18 Dazu ist das ein Geringes vor dem HERRN; er wird auch die Moabiter in eure Hände geben,(dhs) 2Ki 3:18 And this is a simple matter in the sight of the Lord; He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:19 ============ 2Ki 3:19 Then you shall strike every fortified city and every choice city, and fell every good tree and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.'"(nasb) 2Ki 3:19 καὶ πατάξετε πᾶσαν πόλιν ὀχυρὰν καὶ πᾶν ξύλον ἀγαθὸν καταβαλεῖτε καὶ πάσας πηγὰς ὕδατος ἐμφράξετε καὶ πᾶσαν μερίδα ἀγαθὴν ἀχρειώσετε ἐν λίθοις (lxx) 2Ki 3:19 Et percutietis omnem civitatem munitam, et omnem urbem electam, et universum lignum fructiferum succidetis, cunctosque fontes aquarum obturabitis, et omnem agrum egregium operietis lapidibus.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:19 daß ihr schlagen werdet alle festen Städte und alle auserwählten Städte und werdet fällen alle guten Bäume und werdet verstopfen alle Wasserbrunnen und werdet allen guten Acker mit Steinen verderben.(dhs) 2Ki 3:19 Also you shall attack every fortified city and every choice city, and shall cut down every good tree, and stop up every spring of water, and ruin every good piece of land with stones."(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:20 ============ 2Ki 3:20 It happened in the morning about the time of offering the sacrifice, that behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.(nasb) 2Ki 3:20 καὶ ἐγένετο τὸ πρωὶ ἀναβαινούσης τῆς θυσίας καὶ ἰδοὺ ὕδατα ἤρχοντο ἐξ ὁδοῦ Εδωμ καὶ ἐπλήσθη ἡ γῆ ὕδατος (lxx) 2Ki 3:20 Factum est igitur mane, quando sacrificium offerri solet, et ecce aquæ veniebant per viam Edom, et repleta est terra aquis.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:20 Des Morgens aber, zur Zeit, da man Speisopfer opfert, siehe, da kam ein Gewässer des Weges von Edom und füllte das Land mit Wasser.(dhs) 2Ki 3:20 Now it happened in the morning, when the grain offering was offered, that suddenly water came by way of Edom, and the land was filled with water.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:21 ============ 2Ki 3:21 Now all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them. And all who were able to put on armor and older were summoned and stood on the border.(nasb) 2Ki 3:21 καὶ πᾶσα Μωαβ ἤκουσαν ὅτι ἀνέβησαν οἱ βασιλεῖς πολεμεῖν αὐτούς καὶ ἀνεβόησαν ἐκ παντὸς περιεζωσμένου ζώνην καὶ ἐπάνω καὶ ἔστησαν ἐπὶ τοῦ ὁρίου (lxx) 2Ki 3:21 Universi autem Moabitæ audientes quod ascendissent reges ut pugnarent adversum eos, convocaverunt omnes qui accincti erant balteo desuper, et steterunt in terminis.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:21 Da aber alle Moabiter hörten, daß die Könige heraufzogen, wider sie zu streiten, beriefen sie alle, die zur Rüstung alt genug und darüber waren, und traten an die Grenze.(dhs) 2Ki 3:21 And when all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, all who were able to bear arms and older were gathered; and they stood at the border.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:22 ============ 2Ki 3:22 They rose early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw the water opposite them as red as blood.(nasb) 2Ki 3:22 καὶ ὤρθρισαν τὸ πρωί καὶ ὁ ἥλιος ἀνέτειλεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα καὶ εἶδεν Μωαβ ἐξ ἐναντίας τὰ ὕδατα πυρρὰ ὡσεὶ αἷμα (lxx) 2Ki 3:22 Primoque mane surgentes, et orto jam sole ex adverso aquarum, viderunt Moabitæ e contra aquas rubras quasi sanguinem,(vulgate) 2Ki 3:22 Und da sie sich des Morgens früh aufmachten und die Sonne aufging über dem Gewässer, deuchte die Moabiter das Gewässer ihnen gegenüber rot zu sein wie Blut;(dhs) 2Ki 3:22 Then they rose up early in the morning, and the sun was shining on the water; and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:23 ============ 2Ki 3:23 Then they said, "This is blood; the kings have surely fought together, and they have slain one another. Aber sie kamen hinein und schlugen Moab.(dhs) 2Ki 3:24 So when they came to the camp of Israel, Israel rose up and attacked the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they entered their land, killing the Moabites.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:25 ============ 2Ki 3:25 Thus they destroyed the cities; and each one threw a stone on every piece of good land and filled it. So they stopped all the springs of water and felled all the good trees, until in Kir-hareseth only they left its stones; however, the slingers went about it and struck it.(nasb) 2Ki 3:25 καὶ τὰς πόλεις καθεῖλον καὶ πᾶσαν μερίδα ἀγαθὴν ἔρριψαν ἀνὴρ τὸν λίθον καὶ ἐνέπλησαν αὐτὴν καὶ πᾶσαν πηγὴν ὕδατος ἐνέφραξαν καὶ πᾶν ξύλον ἀγαθὸν κατέβαλον ἕως τοῦ καταλιπεῖν τοὺς λίθους τοῦ τοίχου καθῃρημένους καὶ ἐκύκλευσαν οἱ σφενδονῆται καὶ ἐπάταξαν αὐτήν (lxx) 2Ki 3:25 et civitates destruxerunt: et omnem agrum optimum, mittentes singuli lapides, repleverunt: et universos fontes aquarum obturaverunt: et omnia ligna fructifera succiderunt, ita ut muri tantum fictiles remanerent: et circumdata est civitas a fundibulariis, et magna ex parte percussa.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:25 Die Städte zerbrachen sie, und ein jeglicher warf seine Steine auf alle guten Äcker und machten sie voll und verstopften die Wasserbrunnen und fällten alle guten Bäume, bis daß nur die Steine von Kir-Hareseth übrigblieben; und es umgaben die Stadt die Schleuderer und warfen auf sie.(dhs) 2Ki 3:25 Then they destroyed the cities, and each man threw a stone on every good piece of land and filled it; and they stopped up all the springs of water and cut down all the good trees. However the slingers surrounded and attacked it.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:26 ============ 2Ki 3:26 When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him 700 men who drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom; but they could not.(nasb) 2Ki 3:26 καὶ εἶδεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Μωαβ ὅτι ἐκραταίωσεν ὑπὲρ αὐτὸν ὁ πόλεμος καὶ ἔλαβεν μεθ᾽ ἑαυτοῦ ἑπτακοσίους ἄνδρας ἐσπασμένους ῥομφαίαν διακόψαι πρὸς βασιλέα Εδωμ καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνήθησαν (lxx) 2Ki 3:26 Quod cum vidisset rex Moab, prævaluisse scilicet hostes, tulit secum septingentos viros educentes gladium, ut irrumperent ad regem Edom: et non potuerunt.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:26 Da aber der Moabiter König sah, daß ihm der Streit zu stark war, nahm er siebenhundert Mann zu sich, die das Schwert auszogen, durchzubrechen wider den König Edoms; aber sie konnten nicht.(dhs) 2Ki 3:26 And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 3:27 ============ 2Ki 3:27 Then he took his oldest son who was to reign in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering on the wall. And there came great wrath against Israel, and they departed from him and returned to their own land.(nasb) 2Ki 3:27 καὶ ἔλαβεν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν πρωτότοκον ὃς ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν αὐτὸν ὁλοκαύτωμα ἐπὶ τοῦ τείχους καὶ ἐγένετο μετάμελος μέγας ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἀπῆραν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς τὴν γῆν (lxx) 2Ki 3:27 Arripiensque filium suum primogenitum, qui regnaturus erat pro eo, obtulit holocaustum super murum: et facta est indignatio magna in Israël, statimque recesserunt ab eo, et reversi sunt in terram suam.(vulgate) 2Ki 3:27 Da nahm er seinen ersten Sohn, der an seiner Statt sollte König werden, und opferte ihn zum Brandopfer auf der Mauer.
