Today's Date: ======= Acts 5:1 ============ Act 5:1 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,(nasb) Act 5:1 ἀνὴρ δέ τις ἁνανίας ὀνόματι σὺν σαπφίρῃ τῇ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπώλησεν κτῆμα(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:1 Vir autem quidam nomine Ananias, cum Saphira uxore suo vendidit agrum,(vulgate) Act 5:1 Ein Mann aber, mit Namen Ananias samt seinem Weibe Saphira verkaufte sein Gut(dhs) Act 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:2 ============ Act 5:2 and kept back some of the price for himself, with his wife's full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles' feet.(nasb) Act 5:2 καὶ ἐνοσφίσατο ἀπὸ τῆς τιμῆς, συνειδυίης καὶ τῆς γυναικός, καὶ ἐνέγκας μέρος τι παρὰ τοὺς πόδας τῶν ἀποστόλων ἔθηκεν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:2 et fraudavit de pretio agri, conscia uxore sua: et afferens partem quamdam, ad pedes Apostolorum posuit.(vulgate) Act 5:2 und entwandte etwas vom Gelde mit Wissen seines Weibes und brachte einen Teil und legte ihn zu der Apostel Füßen.(dhs) Act 5:2 And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles' feet.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:3 ============ Act 5:3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?(nasb) Act 5:3 εἶπεν δὲ ὁ πέτρος, ἁνανία, διὰ τί ἐπλήρωσεν ὁ σατανᾶς τὴν καρδίαν σου ψεύσασθαί σε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον καὶ νοσφίσασθαι ἀπὸ τῆς τιμῆς τοῦ χωρίου;(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:3 Dixit autem Petrus: Anania, cur tentavit Satanas cor tuum, mentiri te Spiritui Sancto, et fraudare de pretio agri?(vulgate) Act 5:3 Petrus aber sprach: Ananias, warum hat der Satan dein Herz erfüllt, daß du dem heiligen Geist lögest und entwendetest etwas vom Gelde des Ackers?(dhs) Act 5:3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:4 ============ Act 5:4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."(nasb) Act 5:4 οὐχὶ μένον σοὶ ἔμενεν καὶ πραθὲν ἐν τῇ σῇ ἐξουσίᾳ ὑπῆρχεν; τί ὅτι ἔθου ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ σου τὸ πρᾶγμα τοῦτο; οὐκ ἐψεύσω ἀνθρώποις ἀλλὰ τῶ θεῶ.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:4 nonne manens tibi manebat, et venundatum in tua erat potestate? quare posuisti in corde tuo hanc rem? non es mentitus hominibus, sed Deo.(vulgate) Act 5:4 Hättest du ihn doch wohl mögen behalten, da du ihn hattest; und da er verkauft war, war es auch in deiner Gewalt. Warum hast du denn solches in deinem Herzen vorgenommen? Du hast nicht Menschen, sondern Gott gelogen.(dhs) Act 5:4 While it remained, was it not your own? Et factus est timor magnus super omnes qui audierunt.(vulgate) Act 5:5 Da Ananias aber diese Worte hörte, fiel er nieder und gab den Geist auf. Und es kam eine große Furcht über alle, die dies hörten.(dhs) Act 5:5 Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:6 ============ Act 5:6 The young men got up and covered him up, and after carrying him out, they buried him.(nasb) Act 5:6 ἀναστάντες δὲ οἱ νεώτεροι συνέστειλαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐξενέγκαντες ἔθαψαν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:6 Surgentes autem juvenes amoverunt eum, et efferentes sepelierunt.(vulgate) Act 5:6 Es standen aber die Jünglinge auf und taten ihn beiseite und trugen ihn hinaus und begruben ihn.(dhs) Act 5:6 And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:7 ============ Act 5:7 Now there elapsed an interval of about three hours, and his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.(nasb) Act 5:7 ἐγένετο δὲ ὡς ὡρῶν τριῶν διάστημα καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ μὴ εἰδυῖα τὸ γεγονὸς εἰσῆλθεν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:7 Factum est autem quasi horarum trium spatium, et uxor ipsius, nesciens quod factum fuerat, introivit.(vulgate) Act 5:7 Und es begab sich über eine Weile, bei drei Stunden, daß sein Weib hineinkam und wußte nicht, was geschehen war.(dhs) Act 5:7 Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:8 ============ Act 5:8 And Peter responded to her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for such and such a price?" Sie sprach: Ja, so teuer.(dhs) Act 5:8 And Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?" She said, "Yes, for so much."(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:9 ============ Act 5:9 Then Peter said to her, "Why is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out as well."(nasb) Act 5:9 ὁ δὲ πέτρος πρὸς αὐτήν, τί ὅτι συνεφωνήθη ὑμῖν πειράσαι τὸ πνεῦμα κυρίου; ἰδοὺ οἱ πόδες τῶν θαψάντων τὸν ἄνδρα σου ἐπὶ τῇ θύρᾳ καὶ ἐξοίσουσίν σε.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:9 Petrus autem ad eam: Quid utique convenit vobis tentare Spiritum Domini? Ecce pedes eorum qui sepelierunt virum tuum ad ostium, et efferent te.(vulgate) Act 5:9 Petrus aber sprach zu ihr: Warum seid ihr denn eins geworden, zu versuchen den Geist des HERRN? Siehe, die Füße derer, die deinen Mann begraben haben, sind vor der Tür und werden dich hinaustragen.(dhs) Act 5:9 Then Peter said to her, "How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out."(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:10 ============ Act 5:10 And immediately she fell at his feet and breathed her last, and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.(nasb) Act 5:10 ἔπεσεν δὲ παραχρῆμα πρὸς τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξέψυξεν· εἰσελθόντες δὲ οἱ νεανίσκοι εὖρον αὐτὴν νεκράν, καὶ ἐξενέγκαντες ἔθαψαν πρὸς τὸν ἄνδρα αὐτῆς.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:10 Confestim cecidit ante pedes ejus, et expiravit. Intrantes autem juvenes invenerunt illam mortuam: et extulerunt, et sepelierunt ad virum suum.(vulgate) Act 5:10 Und alsbald fiel sie zu seinen Füßen und gab den Geist auf. Da kamen die Jünglinge und fanden sie tot, trugen sie hinaus und begruben sie neben ihren Mann.(dhs) Act 5:10 Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:11 ============ Act 5:11 And great fear came over the whole church, and over all who heard of these things.(nasb) Act 5:11 καὶ ἐγένετο φόβος μέγας ἐφ᾽ ὅλην τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀκούοντας ταῦτα.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:11 Et factus est timor magnus in universa ecclesia, et in omnes qui audierunt hæc.~(vulgate) Act 5:11 Und es kam eine große Furcht über die ganze Gemeinde und über alle, die solches hörten.(dhs) Act 5:11 So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:12 ============ Act 5:12 At the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon's portico.(nasb) Act 5:12 διὰ δὲ τῶν χειρῶν τῶν ἀποστόλων ἐγίνετο σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα πολλὰ ἐν τῶ λαῶ· καὶ ἦσαν ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἅπαντες ἐν τῇ στοᾷ σολομῶντος.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:12 Per manus autem Apostolorum fiebant signa et prodigia multa in plebe. Et erant unanimiter omnes in porticu Salomonis.(vulgate) Act 5:12 Es geschahen aber viel Zeichen und Wunder im Volk durch der Apostel Hände; und sie waren alle in der Halle Salomos einmütig.(dhs) Act 5:12 And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's Porch.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:13 ============ Act 5:13 But none of the rest dared to associate with them; however, the people held them in high esteem.(nasb) Act 5:13 τῶν δὲ λοιπῶν οὐδεὶς ἐτόλμα κολλᾶσθαι αὐτοῖς, ἀλλ᾽ ἐμεγάλυνεν αὐτοὺς ὁ λαός·(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:13 Ceterorum autem nemo audebat se conjungere illis: sed magnificabat eos populus.(vulgate) Act 5:13 Der andern aber wagte keiner, sich zu ihnen zu tun, sondern das Volk hielt groß von ihnen.(dhs) Act 5:13 Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:14 ============ Act 5:14 And all the more believers in the Lord, multitudes of men and women, were constantly added to their number,(nasb) Act 5:14 μᾶλλον δὲ προσετίθεντο πιστεύοντες τῶ κυρίῳ πλήθη ἀνδρῶν τε καὶ γυναικῶν,(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:14 Magis autem augebatur credentium in Domino multitudo virorum ac mulierum,(vulgate) Act 5:14 Es wurden aber immer mehr hinzugetan, die da glaubten an den HERRN, eine Menge Männer und Weiber,(dhs) Act 5:14 And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:15 ============ Act 5:15 to such an extent that they even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on cots and pallets, so that when Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on any one of them.(nasb) Act 5:15 ὥστε καὶ εἰς τὰς πλατείας ἐκφέρειν τοὺς ἀσθενεῖς καὶ τιθέναι ἐπὶ κλιναρίων καὶ κραβάττων, ἵνα ἐρχομένου πέτρου κἂν ἡ σκιὰ ἐπισκιάσῃ τινὶ αὐτῶν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:15 ita ut in plateas ejicerent infirmos, et ponerent in lectulis et grabatis, ut, veniente Petro, saltem umbra illius obumbraret quemquam illorum, et liberarentur ab infirmitatibus suis.(vulgate) Act 5:15 also daß sie die Kranken auf die Gassen heraustrugen und legten sie auf Betten und Bahren, auf daß, wenn Petrus käme, sein Schatten ihrer etliche überschattete.(dhs) Act 5:15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:16 ============ Act 5:16 Also the people from the cities in the vicinity of Jerusalem were coming together, bringing people who were sick or afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all being healed.(nasb) Act 5:16 συνήρχετο δὲ καὶ τὸ πλῆθος τῶν πέριξ πόλεων ἰερουσαλήμ, φέροντες ἀσθενεῖς καὶ ὀχλουμένους ὑπὸ πνευμάτων ἀκαθάρτων, οἵτινες ἐθεραπεύοντο ἅπαντες.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:16 Concurrebat autem et multitudo vicinarum civitatum Jerusalem, afferentes ægros, et vexatos a spiritibus immundis: qui curabantur omnes.~(vulgate) Act 5:16 Es kamen auch herzu viele von den umliegenden Städten gen Jerusalem und brachten die Kranken und die von unsauberen Geistern gepeinigt waren; Now when the high priest and his associates came, they called the Council together, even all the Senate of the sons of Israel, and sent orders to the prison house for them to be brought.(nasb) Act 5:21 ἀκούσαντες δὲ εἰσῆλθον ὑπὸ τὸν ὄρθρον εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν καὶ ἐδίδασκον. παραγενόμενος δὲ ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς καὶ οἱ σὺν αὐτῶ συνεκάλεσαν τὸ συνέδριον καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γερουσίαν τῶν υἱῶν ἰσραήλ, καὶ ἀπέστειλαν εἰς τὸ δεσμωτήριον ἀχθῆναι αὐτούς.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:21 Qui cum audissent, intraverunt diluculo in templum, et docebant. Adveniens autem princeps sacerdotum, et qui cum eo erant, convocaverunt concilium, et omnes seniores filiorum Israël: et miserunt ad carcerem ut adducerentur.(vulgate) Act 5:21 Da sie das gehört hatten, gingen sie früh in den Tempel und lehrten. Der Hohepriester aber kam und die mit ihm waren und riefen zusammen den Rat und alle Ältesten der Kinder Israel und sandten hin zum Gefängnis, sie zu holen.(dhs) Act 5:21 And when they heard that, they entered the temple early in the morning and taught. But the high priest and those with him came and called the council together, with all the elders of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:22 ============ Act 5:22 But the officers who came did not find them in the prison; and they returned and reported back,(nasb) Act 5:22 οἱ δὲ παραγενόμενοι ὑπηρέται οὐχ εὖρον αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ, ἀναστρέψαντες δὲ ἀπήγγειλαν(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:22 Cum autem venissent ministri, et aperto carcere non invenissent illos, reversi nuntiaverunt,(vulgate) Act 5:22 Die Diener aber kamen hin und fanden sie nicht im Gefängnis, kamen wieder und verkündigten(dhs) Act 5:22 But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported,(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:23 ============ Act 5:23 saying, "We found the prison house locked quite securely and the guards standing at the doors; but when we had opened up, we found no one inside."(nasb) Act 5:23 λέγοντες ὅτι τὸ δεσμωτήριον εὕρομεν κεκλεισμένον ἐν πάσῃ ἀσφαλείᾳ καὶ τοὺς φύλακας ἑστῶτας ἐπὶ τῶν θυρῶν, ἀνοίξαντες δὲ ἔσω, οὐδένα εὕρομεν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:23 dicentes: Carcerem quidem invenimus clausum cum omni diligentia, et custodes stantes ante januas: aperientes autem neminem intus invenimus.(vulgate) Act 5:23 und sprachen: Das Gefängnis fanden wir verschlossen mit allem Fleiß und die Hüter außen stehen vor den Türen; aber da wir auftaten, fanden wir niemand darin.(dhs) Act 5:23 saying, "Indeed we found the prison shut securely, and the guards standing outside before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside!"(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:24 ============ Act 5:24 Now when the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests heard these words, they were greatly perplexed about them as to what would come of this.(nasb) Act 5:24 ὡς δὲ ἤκουσαν τοὺς λόγους τούτους ὅ τε στρατηγὸς τοῦ ἱεροῦ καὶ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς, διηπόρουν περὶ αὐτῶν τί ἂν γένοιτο τοῦτο.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:24 Ut autem audierunt hos sermones magistratus templi et principes sacerdotum, ambigebant de illis quidnam fieret.(vulgate) Act 5:24 Da diese Rede hörten der Hohenpriester und der Hauptmann des Tempels und andere Hohepriester, wurden sie darüber betreten, was doch das werden wollte.(dhs) Act 5:24 Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they wondered what the outcome would be.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:25 ============ Act 5:25 But someone came and reported to them," The men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!"(nasb) Act 5:25 παραγενόμενος δέ τις ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς ὅτι ἰδοὺ οἱ ἄνδρες οὓς ἔθεσθε ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ εἰσὶν ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ ἑστῶτες καὶ διδάσκοντες τὸν λαόν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:25 Adveniens autem quidam, nuntiavit eis: Quia ecce viri quos posuistis in carcerem, sunt in templo, stantes et docentes populum.~(vulgate) Act 5:25 Da kam einer, der verkündigte ihnen: Siehe, die Männer, die ihr ins Gefängnis geworfen habt, sind im Tempel, stehen und lehren das Volk.(dhs) Act 5:25 So one came and told them, saying, "Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!"(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:26 ============ Act 5:26 Then the captain went along with the officers and proceeded to bring them back without violence (for they were afraid of the people, that they might be stoned).(nasb) Act 5:26 τότε ἀπελθὼν ὁ στρατηγὸς σὺν τοῖς ὑπηρέταις ἦγεν αὐτούς, οὐ μετὰ βίας, ἐφοβοῦντο γὰρ τὸν λαόν, μὴ λιθασθῶσιν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:26 Tunc abiit magistratus cum ministris, et adduxit illos sine vi: timebant enim populum ne lapidarentur.(vulgate) Act 5:26 Da ging hin der Hauptmann mit den Dienern und holten sie, nicht mit Gewalt; denn sie fürchteten sich vor dem Volk, daß sie gesteinigt würden.(dhs) Act 5:26 Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.(nkjv) ======= Acts 5:27 ============ Act 5:27 When they had brought them, they stood them before the Council. The high priest questioned them,(nasb) Act 5:27 ἀγαγόντες δὲ αὐτοὺς ἔστησαν ἐν τῶ συνεδρίῳ. καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτοὺς ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς(Nestle-Aland) Act 5:27 Et cum adduxissent illos, statuerunt in concilio: et interrogavit eos princeps sacerdotum,(vulgate) Act 5:27 Und als sie sie brachten, stellten sie sie vor den Rat. Und der Hohepriester fragte sie(dhs) Act 5:27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council.
