Today's Date: ======= 1 Corinthians 8:1 ============ 1Co 8:1 Now concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies.(nasb) 1Co 8:1 περὶ δὲ τῶν εἰδωλοθύτων, οἴδαμεν ὅτι πάντες γνῶσιν ἔχομεν. ἡ γνῶσις φυσιοῖ, ἡ δὲ ἀγάπη οἰκοδομεῖ.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:1 De iis autem quæ idolis sacrificantur, scimus quia omnes scientiam habemus. Scientia inflat, caritas vero ædificat.(vulgate) 1Co 8:1 Von dem Götzenopfer aber wissen wir; denn wir haben alle das Wissen. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:2 ============ 1Co 8:2 If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know;(nasb) 1Co 8:2 εἴ τις δοκεῖ ἐγνωκέναι τι, οὔπω ἔγνω καθὼς δεῖ γνῶναι·(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:2 Si quis autem se existimat scire aliquid, nondum cognovit quemadmodum oporteat eum scire.(vulgate) 1Co 8:2 So aber jemand sich dünken läßt, er wisse etwas, der weiß noch nichts, wie er wissen soll.(dhs) 1Co 8:2 And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:3 ============ 1Co 8:3 but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him.(nasb) 1Co 8:3 εἰ δέ τις ἀγαπᾷ τὸν θεόν, οὖτος ἔγνωσται ὑπ᾽ αὐτοῦ.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:3 Si quis autem diligit Deum, hic cognitus est ab eo.(vulgate) 1Co 8:3 So aber jemand Gott liebt, der ist von ihm erkannt.(dhs) 1Co 8:3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:4 ============ 1Co 8:4 Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one.(nasb) 1Co 8:4 περὶ τῆς βρώσεως οὗν τῶν εἰδωλοθύτων οἴδαμεν ὅτι οὐδὲν εἴδωλον ἐν κόσμῳ, καὶ ὅτι οὐδεὶς θεὸς εἰ μὴ εἷς.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:4 De escis autem quæ idolis immolantur, scimus quia nihil est idolum in mundo, et quod nullus est Deus, nisi unus.(vulgate) 1Co 8:4 So wissen wir nun von der Speise des Götzenopfers, daß ein Götze nichts in der Welt sei und daß kein andrer Gott sei als der eine.(dhs) 1Co 8:4 Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:5 ============ 1Co 8:5 For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords,(nasb) 1Co 8:5 καὶ γὰρ εἴπερ εἰσὶν λεγόμενοι θεοὶ εἴτε ἐν οὐρανῶ εἴτε ἐπὶ γῆς, ὥσπερ εἰσὶν θεοὶ πολλοὶ καὶ κύριοι πολλοί,(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:5 Nam etsi sunt qui dicantur dii sive in cælo, sive in terra (siquidem sunt dii multi, et domini multi):(vulgate) 1Co 8:5 Und wiewohl welche sind, die Götter genannt werden, es sei im Himmel oder auf Erden (sintemal es sind viele Götter und Herren),(dhs) 1Co 8:5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords),(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:6 ============ 1Co 8:6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.(nasb) 1Co 8:6 ἀλλ᾽ ἡμῖν εἷς θεὸς ὁ πατήρ, ἐξ οὖ τὰ πάντα καὶ ἡμεῖς εἰς αὐτόν, καὶ εἷς κύριος ἰησοῦς χριστός, δι᾽ οὖ τὰ πάντα καὶ ἡμεῖς δι᾽ αὐτοῦ.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:6 nobis tamen unus est Deus, Pater, ex quo omnia, et nos in illum: et unus Dominus Jesus Christus, per quem omnia, et nos per ipsum.(vulgate) 1Co 8:6 so haben wir doch nur einen Gott, den Vater, von welchem alle Dinge sind und wir zu ihm; und einen HERRN, Jesus Christus, durch welchen alle Dinge sind und wir durch ihn.(dhs) 1Co 8:6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:7 ============ 1Co 8:7 However not all men have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.(nasb) 1Co 8:7 ἀλλ᾽ οὐκ ἐν πᾶσιν ἡ γνῶσις· τινὲς δὲ τῇ συνηθείᾳ ἕως ἄρτι τοῦ εἰδώλου ὡς εἰδωλόθυτον ἐσθίουσιν, καὶ ἡ συνείδησις αὐτῶν ἀσθενὴς οὗσα μολύνεται.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:7 Sed non in omnibus est scientia. Quidam autem cum conscientia usque nunc idoli, quasi idolothytum manducant: et conscientia ipsorum cum sit infirma, polluitur.(vulgate) 1Co 8:7 Es hat aber nicht jedermann das Wissen. Denn etliche machen sich noch ein Gewissen über dem Götzen und essen's für Götzenopfer; damit wird ihr Gewissen, weil es so schwach ist, befleckt.(dhs) 1Co 8:7 However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:8 ============ 1Co 8:8 But food will not commend us to God; we are neither the worse if we do not eat, nor the better if we do eat.(nasb) 1Co 8:8 βρῶμα δὲ ἡμᾶς οὐ παραστήσει τῶ θεῶ· οὔτε ἐὰν μὴ φάγωμεν ὑστερούμεθα, οὔτε ἐὰν φάγωμεν περισσεύομεν.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:8 Esca autem nos non commendat Deo. Neque enim si manducaverimus, abundabimus: neque si non manducaverimus, deficiemus.(vulgate) 1Co 8:8 Aber die Speise fördert uns vor Gott nicht: essen wir, so werden wir darum nicht besser sein; essen wir nicht, so werden wir darum nicht weniger sein.(dhs) 1Co 8:8 But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:9 ============ 1Co 8:9 But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.(nasb) 1Co 8:9 βλέπετε δὲ μή πως ἡ ἐξουσία ὑμῶν αὕτη πρόσκομμα γένηται τοῖς ἀσθενέσιν.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:9 Videte autem ne forte hæc licentia vestra offendiculum fiat infirmis.(vulgate) 1Co 8:9 Sehet aber zu, daß diese eure Freiheit nicht gerate zum Anstoß der Schwachen!(dhs) 1Co 8:9 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:10 ============ 1Co 8:10 For if someone sees you, who have knowledge, dining in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols?(nasb) 1Co 8:10 ἐὰν γάρ τις ἴδῃ σὲ τὸν ἔχοντα γνῶσιν ἐν εἰδωλείῳ κατακείμενον, οὐχὶ ἡ συνείδησις αὐτοῦ ἀσθενοῦς ὄντος οἰκοδομηθήσεται εἰς τὸ τὰ εἰδωλόθυτα ἐσθίειν;(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:10 Si enim quis viderit eum, qui habet scientiam, in idolio recumbentem: nonne conscientia ejus, cum sit infirma, ædificabitur ad manducandum idolothyta?(vulgate) 1Co 8:10 Denn so dich, der du die Erkenntnis hast, jemand sähe zu Tische sitzen im Götzenhause, wird nicht sein Gewissen, obwohl er schwach ist, ermutigt, das Götzenopfer zu essen?(dhs) 1Co 8:10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols?(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:11 ============ 1Co 8:11 For through your knowledge he who is weak is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died.(nasb) 1Co 8:11 ἀπόλλυται γὰρ ὁ ἀσθενῶν ἐν τῇ σῇ γνώσει, ὁ ἀδελφὸς δι᾽ ὃν χριστὸς ἀπέθανεν.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:11 Et peribit infirmus in tua scientia, frater, propter quem Christus mortuus est?(vulgate) 1Co 8:11 Und also wird über deiner Erkenntnis der schwache Bruder umkommen, um des willen doch Christus gestorben ist.(dhs) 1Co 8:11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:12 ============ 1Co 8:12 And so, by sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.(nasb) 1Co 8:12 οὕτως δὲ ἁμαρτάνοντες εἰς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς καὶ τύπτοντες αὐτῶν τὴν συνείδησιν ἀσθενοῦσαν εἰς χριστὸν ἁμαρτάνετε.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:12 Sic autem peccantes in fratres, et percutientes conscientiam eorum infirmam, in Christum peccatis.(vulgate) 1Co 8:12 Wenn ihr aber also sündigt an den Brüdern, und schlagt ihr schwaches Gewissen, so sündigt ihr an Christo.(dhs) 1Co 8:12 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 8:13 ============ 1Co 8:13 Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to stumble.(nasb) 1Co 8:13 διόπερ εἰ βρῶμα σκανδαλίζει τὸν ἀδελφόν μου, οὐ μὴ φάγω κρέα εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ἵνα μὴ τὸν ἀδελφόν μου σκανδαλίσω.(Nestle-Aland) 1Co 8:13 Quapropter si esca scandalizat fratrem meum, non manducabo carnem in æternum, ne fratrem meum scandalizem.(vulgate) 1Co 8:13 Darum, so die Speise meinen Bruder ärgert, wollt ich nimmermehr Fleisch essen, auf daß ich meinen Bruder nicht ärgere.(dhs) 1Co 8:13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.(nkjv) ======= 1 Corinthians 9:1 ============ top of the page
