Today's Date: ======= Judges 1:1 ============ Jdg 1:1 Now it came about after the death of Joshua that the sons of Israel inquired of the Lord, saying, "Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them?"(nasb) Jdg 1:1 Post mortem Josue, consuluerunt filii Israël Dominum, dicentes: Quis ascendet ante nos contra Chananæum, et erit dux belli?(vulgate) Jueces 1:1 Y aconteció después de la muerte de Josué, que los hijos de Israel consultaron a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Quién será el primero en subir por nosotros a pelear contra los cananeos?(E) Juges 1:1 Après la mort de Josué, les enfants d'Israël consultèrent l'Eternel, en disant: Qui de nous montera le premier contre les Cananéens, pour les attaquer?(F) Jdg 1:1 Nach dem Tod Josuas fragten die Kinder Israel den HERRN und sprachen: Wer soll unter uns zuerst hinaufziehen, Krieg zu führen wider die Kanaaniter?(D) Jdg 1:1 καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὴν τελευτὴν Ἰησοῦ καὶ ἐπηρώτων οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ διὰ τοῦ κυρίου λέγοντες τίς ἀναβήσεται ἡμῖν πρὸς τοὺς Χαναναίους ἀφηγούμενος τοῦ πολεμῆσαι πρὸς αὐτούς(lxx) Jdg 1:1 Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass that the children of Israel asked the Lord, saying, "Who shall be first to go up for us against the Canaanites to fight against them?"(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:2 ============ Jdg 1:2 The Lord said, "Judah shall go up; behold, I have given the land into his hand."(nasb) Jdg 1:2 Dixitque Dominus: Judas ascendet: ecce tradidi terram in manus ejus.(vulgate) Jueces 1:2 Y Jehová respondió: Judá subirá; he aquí que yo he entregado la tierra en sus manos.(E) Juges 1:2 L'Eternel répondit: Juda montera, voici, j'ai livré le pays entre ses mains.(F) Jdg 1:2 Der HERR sprach: Juda soll hinaufziehen. Indeed I have delivered the land into his hand."(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:3 ============ Jdg 1:3 Then Judah said to Simeon his brother, "Come up with me into the territory allotted me, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I in turn will go with you into the territory allotted you." So Simeon went with him.(nasb) Jdg 1:3 Et ait Judas Simeoni fratri suo: Ascende mecum in sortem meam, et pugna contra Chananæum, ut et ego pergam tecum in sortem tuam. Et abiit cum eo Simeon.~(vulgate) Jueces 1:3 Y Judá dijo a Simeón su hermano: Sube conmigo a mi suerte, y peleemos contra el cananeo, y yo también iré contigo a tu suerte. Y Simeón fue con él.(E) Juges 1:3 Et Juda dit à Siméon, son frère: Monte avec moi dans le pays qui m'est échu par le sort, et nous combattrons les Cananéens; j'irai aussi avec toi dans celui qui t'est tombé en partage. Et Siméon alla avec lui.(F) Jdg 1:3 Da sprach Juda zu seinem Bruder Simeon: Zieh mit mir hinauf in mein Los und laß uns wider die Kanaaniter streiten, so will ich wieder mit dir ziehen in dein Los. Also zog Simeon mit ihm.(D) Jdg 1:3 καὶ εἶπεν Ιουδας τῷ Συμεων ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ ἀνάβηθι μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ ἐν τῷ κλήρῳ μου καὶ παραταξώμεθα πρὸς τοὺς Χαναναίους καὶ πορεύσομαι κἀγὼ μετὰ σοῦ ἐν τῷ κλήρῳ σου καὶ ἐπορεύθη μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ Συμεων(lxx) Jdg 1:3 So Judah said to Simeon his brother, "Come up with me to my allotted territory, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I will likewise go with you to your allotted territory." And Simeon went with him.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:4 ============ Jdg 1:4 Judah went up, and the Lord gave the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hands, and they defeated ten thousand men at Bezek.(nasb) Jdg 1:4 Ascenditque Judas, et tradidit Dominus Chananæum ac Pherezæum in manus eorum: et percusserunt in Bezec decem millia virorum.(vulgate) Jueces 1:4 Y subió Judá, y Jehová entregó en sus manos al cananeo y al ferezeo; y de ellos hirieron en Bezec diez mil hombres.(E) Juges 1:4 Juda monta, et l'Eternel livra entre leurs mains les Cananéens et les Phéréziens; ils battirent dix mille hommes à Bézek.(F) Jdg 1:4 Da nun Juda hinaufzog, gab der HERR die Kanaaniter und Pheresiter in ihre Hände, und sie schlugen zu Besek zehntausend Mann.(D) Jdg 1:4 καὶ ἀνέβη Ιουδας καὶ παρέδωκεν κύριος τὸν Χαναναῖον καὶ τὸν Φερεζαῖον εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν καὶ ἔκοψαν αὐτοὺς ἐν Βεζεκ εἰς δέκα χιλιάδας ἀνδρῶν(lxx) Jdg 1:4 Then Judah went up, and the Lord delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand; and they killed ten thousand men at Bezek.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:5 ============ Jdg 1:5 They found Adoni-bezek in Bezek and fought against him, and they defeated the Canaanites and the Perizzites.(nasb) Jdg 1:5 Inveneruntque Adonibezec in Bezec, et pugnaverunt contra eum, ac percusserunt Chananæum et Pherezæum.(vulgate) Jueces 1:5 Y hallaron a Adoni-bezec en Bezec, y pelearon contra él; e hirieron al cananeo y al ferezeo.(E) Juges 1:5 Ils trouvèrent Adoni-Bézek à Bézek; ils l'attaquèrent, et ils battirent les Cananéens et les Phéréziens.(F) Jdg 1:5 Und fanden den Adoni-Besek zu Besek und stritten wider ihn und schlugen die Kanaaniter und Pheresiter.(D) Jdg 1:5 καὶ κατέλαβον τὸν Αδωνιβεζεκ ἐν τῇ Βεζεκ καὶ παρετάξαντο πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔκοψαν τὸν Χαναναῖον καὶ τὸν Φερεζαῖον(lxx) Jdg 1:5 And they found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fought against him; and they defeated the Canaanites and the Perizzites.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:6 ============ Jdg 1:6 But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and big toes.(nasb) Jdg 1:6 Fugit autem Adonibezec: quem persecuti comprehenderunt, cæsis summitatibus manuum ejus ac pedum.(vulgate) Jueces 1:6 Mas Adoni-bezec huyó; y le siguieron, y le prendieron, y le cortaron los pulgares de las manos y de los pies.(E) Juges 1:6 Adoni-Bézek prit la fuite; mais ils le poursuivirent et le saisirent, et ils lui coupèrent les pouces des mains et des pieds.(F) Jdg 1:6 Aber Adoni-Besek floh, und sie jagten ihm nach; und da sie ihn ergriffen, hieben sie ihm die Daumen ab an seinen Händen und Füßen.(D) Jdg 1:6 καὶ ἔφυγεν Αδωνιβεζεκ καὶ κατέδραμον ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ καὶ κατελάβοσαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπέκοψαν τὰ ἄκρα τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ἄκρα τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ(lxx) Jdg 1:6 Then Adoni-Bezek fled, and they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and big toes.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:7 ============ Jdg 1:7 Adoni-bezek said, "Seventy kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off used to gather up scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has repaid me." So they brought him to Jerusalem and he died there.(nasb) Jdg 1:7 Dixitque Adonibezec: Septuaginta reges amputatis manuum ac pedum summitatibus colligebant sub mensa mea ciborum reliquias: sicut feci, ita reddidit mihi Deus. Adduxeruntque eum in Jerusalem, et ibi mortuus est.(vulgate) Jueces 1:7 Entonces dijo Adoni-bezec: Setenta reyes, cortados los pulgares de sus manos y de sus pies, recogían [las migajas] debajo de mi mesa; como yo hice, así me ha pagado Dios. Wie ich nun getan habe, so hat mir Gott wieder vergolten. Und man brachte ihn gen Jerusalem; daselbst starb er.(D) Jdg 1:7 καὶ εἶπεν Αδωνιβεζεκ ἑβδομήκοντα βασιλεῖς τὰ ἄκρα τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ ἄκρα τῶν ποδῶν αὐτῶν ἀποκεκομμένοι ἦσαν συλλέγοντες τὰ ὑποκάτω τῆς τραπέζης μου καθὼς οὖν ἐποίησα οὕτως ἀνταπέδωκέν μοι ὁ θεός καὶ ἄγουσιν αὐτὸν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐκεῖ(lxx) Jdg 1:7 And Adoni-Bezek said, "Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to gather scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has repaid me." Then they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:8 ============ Jdg 1:8 Then the sons of Judah fought against Jerusalem and captured it and struck it with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire.(nasb) Jdg 1:8 Oppugnantes ergo filii Juda Jerusalem, ceperunt eam, et percusserunt in ore gladii, tradentes cunctam incendio civitatem.(vulgate) Jueces 1:8 Y habían combatido los hijos de Judá a Jerusalén, y la habían tomado, y herido a filo de espada, y puesto a fuego la ciudad.(E) Juges 1:8 Les fils de Juda attaquèrent Jérusalem et la prirent, ils la frappèrent du tranchant de l'épée et mirent le feu à la ville.(F) Jdg 1:8 Aber die Kinder Juda stritten wider Jerusalem und gewannen es und schlugen es mit der Schärfe des Schwerts und zündeten die Stadt an.(D) Jdg 1:8 καὶ ἐπολέμουν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιουδα τὴν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ κατελάβοντο αὐτὴν καὶ ἐπάταξαν αὐτὴν ἐν στόματι ῥομφαίας καὶ τὴν πόλιν ἐνέπρησαν ἐν πυρί(lxx) Jdg 1:8 Now the children of Judah fought against Jerusalem and took it; they struck it with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:9 ============ Jdg 1:9 Afterward the sons of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites living in the hill country and in the Negev and in the lowland.(nasb) Jdg 1:9 Et postea descendentes pugnaverunt contra Chananæum, qui habitabat in montanis, et ad meridiem, et in campestribus.(vulgate) Jueces 1:9 Después los hijos de Judá descendieron para pelear contra el cananeo que habitaba en las montañas, y en el sur, y en el valle.(E) Juges 1:9 Les fils de Juda descendirent ensuite, pour combattre les Cananéens qui habitaient la montagne, la contrée du midi et la plaine.(F) Jdg 1:9 Darnach zogen die Kinder Juda herab, zu streiten wider die Kanaaniter, die auf dem Gebirge und gegen Mittag und in den Gründen wohnten.(D) Jdg 1:9 καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα κατέβησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιουδα τοῦ πολεμῆσαι πρὸς τὸν Χαναναῖον τὸν κατοικοῦντα τὴν ὀρεινὴν καὶ τὸν νότον καὶ τὴν πεδινήν(lxx) Jdg 1:9 And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who dwelt in the mountains, in the South, and in the lowland.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:10 ============ Jdg 1:10 So Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron (now the name of Hebron formerly was Kiriath-arba); and they struck Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.(nasb) Jdg 1:10 Pergensque Judas contra Chananæum, qui habitabat in Hebron (cujus nomen fuit antiquitus Cariath Arbe), percussit Sesai, et Ahiman, et Tholmai:(vulgate) Jueces 1:10 Y partió Judá contra el cananeo que habitaba en Hebrón, la cual se llamaba antes Quiriat-arba; e hirieron a Sesai, y a Ahimán, y a Talmai.(E) Juges 1:10 Juda marcha contre les Cananéens qui habitaient à Hébron, appelée autrefois Kirjath-Arba; et il battit Schéschaï, Ahiman et Talmaï.(F) Jdg 1:10 Und Juda zog hin wider die Kanaaniter, die zu Hebron wohnten (Hebron aber hieß vorzeiten Kirjath-Arba), und sie schlugen den Sesai und Ahiman und Thalmai.(D) Jdg 1:10 καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ιουδας πρὸς τὸν Χαναναῖον τὸν κατοικοῦντα ἐν Χεβρων καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Χεβρων ἐξ ἐναντίας καὶ τὸ ὄνομα ἦν Χεβρων τὸ πρότερον Καριαθαρβοξεφερ καὶ ἐπάταξαν τὸν Σεσσι καὶ Αχινααν καὶ Θολμιν γεννήματα τοῦ Ενακ(lxx) Jdg 1:10 Then Judah went against the Canaanites who dwelt in Hebron. (Now the name of Hebron was formerly Kirjath Arba.) (The name of Debir was formerly Kirjath Sepher.)(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:12 ============ Jdg 1:12 And Caleb said, "The one who attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will even give him my daughter Achsah for a wife."(nasb) Jdg 1:12 Dixitque Caleb: Qui percusserit Cariath Sepher, et vastaverit eam, dabo ei Axam filiam meam uxorem.(vulgate) Jueces 1:12 Y dijo Caleb: El que hiriere a Quiriat-sefer, y la tomare, yo le daré a Acsa mi hija por esposa.(E) Juges 1:12 Caleb dit: Je donnerai ma fille Acsa pour femme à celui qui battra Kirjath-Sépher et qui la prendra.(F) Jdg 1:12 Und Kaleb sprach: Wer Kirjath-Sepher schlägt und gewinnt, dem will ich meine Tochter Achsa zum Weibe geben.(D) Jdg 1:12 καὶ εἶπεν Χαλεβ ὃς ἐὰν πατάξῃ τὴν πόλιν τῶν γραμμάτων καὶ προκαταλάβηται αὐτήν δώσω αὐτῷ τὴν Ασχα θυγατέρα μου εἰς γυναῖκα(lxx) Jdg 1:12 Then Caleb said, "Whoever attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give my daughter Achsah as wife."(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:13 ============ Jdg 1:13 Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, captured it; so he gave him his daughter Achsah for a wife.(nasb) Jdg 1:13 Cumque cepisset eam Othoniel filius Cenez frater Caleb minor, dedit ei Axam filiam suam conjugem.(vulgate) Jueces 1:13 Y la tomó Otoniel hijo de Cenaz, hermano menor de Caleb; y él le dio a Acsa su hija por esposa.(E) Juges 1:13 Othniel, fils de Kenaz, frère cadet de Caleb, s'en empara; et Caleb lui donna pour femme sa fille Acsa.(F) Jdg 1:13 Da gewann es Othniel, der Sohn des Kenas, Kalebs jüngerer Bruder. Und er gab ihm sein Tochter Achsa zum Weibe.(D) Jdg 1:13 καὶ προκατελάβετο αὐτὴν Γοθονιηλ υἱὸς Κενεζ ἀδελφοῦ Χαλεβ ὁ νεώτερος καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ Χαλεβ τὴν Ασχα θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ εἰς γυναῖκα(lxx) Jdg 1:13 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it; so he gave him his daughter Achsah as wife.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:14 ============ Jdg 1:14 Then it came about when she came to him, that she persuaded him to ask her father for a field. Then she alighted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, "What do you want?"(nasb) Jdg 1:14 Quam pergentem in itinere monuit vir suus ut peteret a patre suo agrum. Quæ cum suspirasset sedens in asino, dixit ei Caleb: Quid habes?(vulgate) Jueces 1:14 Y sucedió que cuando ella vino [a él], ella le persuadió para pedir a su padre un campo. Ella entonces se bajó del asno, y Caleb le dijo: ¿Qué quieres?(E) Juges 1:14 Lorsqu'elle fut entrée chez Othniel, elle le sollicita de demander à son père un champ. Elle descendit de dessus son âne; et Caleb lui dit: Qu'as-tu?(F) Jdg 1:14 Und es begab sich, da sie einzog, beredete sie ihn, einen Acker zu fordern von ihrem Vater. Und sie stieg vom Esel; da sprach Kaleb zu ihr: Was ist dir?(D) Jdg 1:14 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῇ εἰσόδῳ αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπέσεισεν αὐτὴν Γοθονιηλ τοῦ αἰτῆσαι παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς ἀγρόν καὶ ἐγόγγυζεν καὶ ἔκραξεν ἀπὸ τοῦ ὑποζυγίου εἰς γῆν νότου ἐκδέδοσαί με καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Χαλεβ τί ἐστίν σοι(lxx) Jdg 1:14 Now it happened, when she came to him, that she urged him to ask her father for a field. And she dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, "What do you wish?"(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:15 ============ Jdg 1:15 She said to him, "Give me a blessing, since you have given me the land of the Negev, give me also springs of water." So Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.(nasb) Jdg 1:15 At illa respondit: Da mihi benedictionem, quia terram arentem dedisti mihi: da et irriguam aquis. Dedit ergo ei Caleb irriguum superius, et irriguum inferius.(vulgate) Jueces 1:15 Ella entonces le respondió: Dame una bendición, puesto que me has dado tierra de sequedal; dame también fuentes de aguas. Da gab er ihr die Quellen oben und unten.(D) Jdg 1:15 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ασχα δὸς δή μοι εὐλογίαν ὅτι εἰς γῆν νότου ἐκδέδοσαί με καὶ δώσεις μοι λύτρωσιν ὕδατος καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῇ Χαλεβ κατὰ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτῆς λύτρωσιν μετεώρων καὶ λύτρωσιν ταπεινῶν(lxx) Jdg 1:15 So she said to him, "Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water." And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:16 ============ Jdg 1:16 The descendants of the Kenite, Moses' father-in-law, went up from the city of palms with the sons of Judah, to the wilderness of Judah which is in the south of Arad; and they went and lived with the people.(nasb) Jdg 1:16 Filii autem Cinæi cognati Moysi ascenderunt de civitate palmarum cum filiis Juda, in desertum sortis ejus, quod est ad meridiem Arad, et habitaverunt cum eo.(vulgate) Jueces 1:16 Y los hijos del cineo, suegro de Moisés, subieron de la ciudad de las palmeras con los hijos de Judá, al desierto de Judá que [está] al sur de Arad; y fueron y habitaron con el pueblo.(E) Juges 1:16 Les fils du Kénien, beau-père de Moïse, montèrent de la ville des palmiers, avec les fils de Juda, dans le désert de Juda au midi d'Arad, et ils allèrent s'établir parmi le peuple.(F) Jdg 1:16 Und die Kinder des Keniters, Mose's Schwagers, zogen herauf aus der Palmenstadt mit den Kindern Juda in die Wüste Juda, die da liegt gegen Mittag der Stadt Arad, und gingen hin und wohnten unter dem Volk.(D) Jdg 1:16 καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ιοθορ τοῦ Κιναιου τοῦ γαμβροῦ Μωυσέως ἀνέβησαν ἐκ πόλεως τῶν φοινίκων μετὰ τῶν υἱῶν Ιουδα εἰς τὴν ἔρημον τὴν οὖσαν ἐν τῷ νότῳ Ιουδα ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ καταβάσεως Αραδ καὶ κατῴκησαν μετὰ τοῦ λαοῦ(lxx) Jdg 1:16 Now the children of the Kenite, Moses' father-in-law, went up from the City of Palms with the children of Judah into the Wilderness of Judah, which lies in the South near Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.(nkjv) ======= Judges 1:17 ============ Jdg 1:17 Then Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they struck the Canaanites living in Zephath, and utterly destroyed it.
