but a person shall be put to death for his own sin."(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 14:7 ============ 2Ki 14:7 He killed of Edom in the Valley of Salt 10,000 and took Sela by war, and named it Joktheel to this day.(nasb) 2Ki 14:7 Ipse percussit Edom in valle Salinarum decem millia, et apprehendit petram in prælio, vocavitque nomen ejus Jectehel usque in præsentem diem.~(vulgate) 2 Reyes 14:7 Éste mató asimismo a diez mil edomitas en el valle de la Sal, y tomó a Sela en batalla, y la llamó Jocteel, hasta hoy.(E) 2 Rois 14:7 Il battit dix mille Edomites dans la vallée du sel; et durant la guerre, il prit Séla, et l'appela Joktheel, nom qu'elle a conservé jusqu'à ce jour.(F) 2Ki 14:7 Er schlug auch die Edomiter im Salztal zehntausend und gewann die Stadt Sela mit Streit und hieß sie Joktheel bis auf diesen Tag.(D) 2Ki 14:7 αὐτὸς ἐπάταξεν τὸν Εδωμ ἐν Γαιμελε δέκα χιλιάδας καὶ συνέλαβε τὴν πέτραν ἐν τῷ πολέμῳ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῆς Καθοηλ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης(lxx) 2Ki 14:7 He killed ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt, and took Sela by war, and called its name Joktheel to this day.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 14:8 ============ 2Ki 14:8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us face each other."(nasb) 2Ki 14:8 Tunc misit Amasias nuntios ad Joas filium Joachaz filii Jehu regis Israël, dicens: Veni, et videamus nos.(vulgate) 2 Reyes 14:8 Entonces Amasías envió embajadores a Joás, hijo de Joacaz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, y veámonos de rostro.(E) 2 Rois 14:8 Alors Amatsia envoya des messagers à Joas, fils de Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d'Israël, pour lui dire: Viens, voyons-nous en face!(F) 2Ki 14:8 Da sandte Amazja Boten zu Joas, dem Sohn des Joahas, des Sohnes Jehus, dem König über Israel, und ließ ihm sagen: Komm her, wir wollen uns miteinander messen!(D) 2Ki 14:8 τότε ἀπέστειλεν Αμεσσιας ἀγγέλους πρὸς Ιωας υἱὸν Ιωαχας υἱοῦ Ιου βασιλέως Ισραηλ λέγων δεῦρο ὀφθῶμεν προσώποις(lxx) 2Ki 14:8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us face one another in battle."(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 14:9 ============ 2Ki 14:9 Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, "The thorn bush which was in Lebanon sent to the cedar which was in Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son in marriage.' But there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trampled the thorn bush.(nasb) 2Ki 14:9 Remisitque Joas rex Israël ad Amasiam regem Juda, dicens: Carduus Libani misit ad cedrum quæ est in Libano, dicens: Da filiam tuam filio meo uxorem. Transieruntque bestiæ saltus quæ sunt in Libano, et conculcaverunt carduum.(vulgate) 2 Reyes 14:9 Y Joás rey de Israel envió a Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardo que [está] en el Líbano envió a decir al cedro que [está] en el Líbano: Da tu hija por esposa a mi hijo. Y pasaron las fieras que [están] en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardo.(E) 2 Rois 14:9 Et Joas, roi d'Israël, fit dire à Amatsia, roi de Juda: L'épine du Liban envoya dire au cèdre du Liban: Donne ta fille pour femme à mon fils! Et les bêtes sauvages qui sont au Liban passèrent et foulèrent l'épine.(F) 2Ki 14:9 Aber Joas, der König Israels, sandte zu Amazja, dem König Juda's und ließ ihm sagen: Der Dornstrauch, der im Libanon ist, sandte zur Zeder im Libanon und ließ ihr sagen: Gib deine Tochter meinem Sohn zum Weibe! Aber das Wild auf dem Felde im Libanon lief über den Dornstrauch und zertrat ihn.(D) 2Ki 14:9 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ιωας βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ πρὸς Αμεσσιαν βασιλέα Ιουδα λέγων ὁ ακαν ὁ ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς τὴν κέδρον τὴν ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ λέγων δὸς τὴν θυγατέρα σου τῷ υἱῷ μου εἰς γυναῖκα καὶ διῆλθον τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ τὰ ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ καὶ συνεπάτησαν τὸν ακανα(lxx) 2Ki 14:9 And Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, "The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son as wife'; and a wild beast that was in Lebanon passed by and trampled the thistle.(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 14:10 ============ 2Ki 14:10 You have indeed defeated Edom, and your heart has become proud. Enjoy your glory and stay at home; for why should you provoke trouble so that you, even you, would fall, and Judah with you?"(nasb) 2Ki 14:10 Percutiens invaluisti super Edom, et sublevavit te cor tuum: contentus esto gloria, et sede in domo tua: quare provocas malum, ut cadas tu et Judas tecum?(vulgate) 2 Reyes 14:10 Ciertamente has derrotado a Edom, y tu corazón se ha envanecido; gloríate, pues, mas quédate en tu casa. ¿Para qué te metes en un mal, para que caigas tú, y Judá contigo?(E) 2 Rois 14:10 Tu as battu les Edomites, et ton coeur s'élève. Jouis de ta gloire, et reste chez toi. Pourquoi t'engager dans une malheureuse entreprise, qui amènerait ta ruine et celle de Juda?(F) 2Ki 14:10 Du hast die Edomiter geschlagen; des überhebt sich dein Herz. Habe den Ruhm und bleibe daheim! Warum ringst du nach Unglück, daß du fällst und Juda mit dir?(D) 2Ki 14:10 τύπτων ἐπάταξας τὴν Ιδουμαίαν καὶ ἐπῆρέν σε ἡ καρδία σου ἐνδοξάσθητι καθήμενος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου καὶ ἵνα τί ἐρίζεις ἐν κακίᾳ σου καὶ πεσῇ σὺ καὶ Ιουδας μετὰ σοῦ(lxx) 2Ki 14:10 You have indeed defeated Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Glory in that, and stay at home; for why should you meddle with trouble so that you fall--you and Judah with you?"(nkjv) ======= 2 Kings 14:11 ============ 2Ki 14:11 But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah.(nasb) 2Ki 14:11 Et non acquievit Amasias.
