Today's Date: ======= Joshua 3:1 ============ Jos 3:1 Then Joshua rose early in the morning; and he and all the sons of Israel set out from Shittim and came to the Jordan, and they lodged there before they crossed.(nas) Jos 3:1 καὶ ὤρθρισεν Ἰησοῦς τὸ πρωί καὶ ἀπῆραν ἐκ Σαττιν καὶ ἤλθοσαν ἕως τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ κατέλυσαν ἐκεῖ πρὸ τοῦ διαβῆναι (lxx) Jos 3:1 Igitur Josue de nocte consurgens movit castra: egredientesque de Setim, venerunt ad Jordanem ipse et omnes filii Israël, et morati sunt ibi tres dies.(vulgate) 1 ׃3 וַיַּשְׁכֵּם֩ יְהוֹשֻׁ֨עַ בַּבֹּ֜קֶר וַיִּסְע֣וּ מֵֽהַשִׁטִּ֗ים וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ עַד־הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן ה֖וּא וְכָל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיָּלִ֥נוּ שָׁ֖ם טֶ֥רֶם יַעֲבֹֽרוּ׃ Joshua Jos 3:1 Und Josua machte sich früh auf, und sie zogen aus Sittim und kamen an den Jordan, er und alle Kinder Israel, und blieben daselbst über Nacht, ehe sie hinüberzogen.(dhs) Jos 3:1 Then Joshua rose early in the morning; and they set out from Acacia Grove and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they crossed over.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:2 ============ Jos 3:2 At the end of three days the officers went through the midst of the camp;(nas) Jos 3:2 καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τρεῖς ἡμέρας διῆλθον οἱ γραμματεῖς διὰ τῆς παρεμβολῆς (lxx) Jos 3:2 Quibus evolutis transierunt præcones per castrorum medium,(vulgate) 2 ׃3 וַיְהִ֕י מִקְצֵ֖ה שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֑ים וַיַּעַבְר֥וּ הַשֹּׁטְרִ֖ים בְּקֶ֥רֶב הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ Joshua Jos 3:2 Nach drei Tagen aber gingen die Hauptleute durchs Lager(dhs) Jos 3:2 So it was, after three days, that the officers went through the camp;(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:3 ============ Jos 3:3 and they commanded the people, saying, "When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God with the Levitical priests carrying it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.(nas) Jos 3:3 καὶ ἐνετείλαντο τῷ λαῷ λέγοντες ὅταν ἴδητε τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν καὶ τοὺς ἱερεῖς ἡμῶν καὶ τοὺς Λευίτας αἴροντας αὐτήν ἀπαρεῖτε ἀπὸ τῶν τόπων ὑμῶν καὶ πορεύεσθε ὀπίσω αὐτῆς (lxx) Jos 3:3 et clamare cœperunt: Quando videritis arcam fœderis Domini Dei vestri, et sacerdotes stirpis Leviticæ portantes eam, vos quoque consurgite, et sequimini præcedentes:(vulgate) 3 ׃3 וַיְצַוּוּ֮ אֶת־הָעָ֣ם לֵאמֹר֒ כִּרְאֽוֹתְכֶ֗ם אֵ֣ת אֲר֤וֹן בְּרִית־יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹ֣הֵיכֶ֔ם וְהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם נֹשְׂאִ֖ים אֹת֑וֹ וְאַתֶּ֗ם תִּסְעוּ֙ מִמְּק֣וֹמְכֶ֔ם וַהֲלַכְתֶּ֖ם אַחֲרָֽיו׃ Joshua Jos 3:3 und geboten dem Volk und sprachen: Wenn ihr sehen werdet die Lade des Bundes des HERRN, eures Gottes, und die Priester aus den Leviten sie tragen, so ziehet aus von eurem Ort und folgt ihr nach.(dhs) Jos 3:3 and they commanded the people, saying, "When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:4 ============ Jos 3:4 However, there shall be between you and it a distance of about 2,000 cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you shall go, for you have not passed this way before."(nas) Jos 3:4 ἀλλὰ μακρὰν ἔστω ἀνὰ μέσον ὑμῶν καὶ ἐκείνης ὅσον δισχιλίους πήχεις στήσεσθε μὴ προσεγγίσητε αὐτῇ ἵν᾽ ἐπίστησθε τὴν ὁδόν ἣν πορεύεσθε αὐτήν οὐ γὰρ πεπόρευσθε τὴν ὁδὸν ἀπ᾽ ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτης ἡμέρας (lxx) Jos 3:4 sitque inter vos et arcam spatium cubitorum duum millium: ut procul videre possitis, et nosse per quam viam ingrediamini: quia prius non ambulastis per eam: et cavete ne appropinquetis ad arcam.(vulgate) 4 ׃3 אַ֣ךְ ׀ רָח֣וֹק יִהְיֶ֗ה בֵּֽינֵיכֶם֙ *ובינו **וּבֵינָ֔יו כְּאַלְפַּ֥יִם אַמָּ֖ה בַּמִּדָּ֑ה אַֽל־תִּקְרְב֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו לְמַ֤עַן אֲשֶׁר־תֵּֽדְעוּ֙ אֶת־הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֵּֽלְכוּ־בָ֔הּ כִּ֣י לֹ֧א עֲבַרְתֶּ֛ם בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ מִתְּמ֥וֹל שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם׃ ס Joshua Jos 3:4 Doch daß zwischen euch und ihr Raum sei bei zweitausend Ellen. Ihr sollt nicht zu ihr nahen, auf daß ihr wisset, auf welchem Weg ihr gehen sollt; denn ihr seid den Weg bisher nicht gegangen.(dhs) Jos 3:4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before."(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:5 ============ Jos 3:5 Then Joshua said to the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you."(nas) Jos 3:5 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τῷ λαῷ ἁγνίσασθε εἰς αὔριον ὅτι αὔριον ποιήσει ἐν ὑμῖν κύριος θαυμαστά (lxx) Jos 3:5 Dixitque Josue ad populum: Sanctificamini: cras enim faciet Dominus inter vos mirabilia.(vulgate) 5 ׃3 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ אֶל־הָעָ֖ם הִתְקַדָּ֑שׁוּ כִּ֣י מָחָ֗ר יַעֲשֶׂ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֖ם נִפְלָאֽוֹת׃ Joshua Jos 3:5 Und Josua sprach zu dem Volk: Heiligt euch; denn morgen wir der HERR ein Wunder unter euch tun.(dhs) Jos 3:5 And Joshua said to the people, "Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you."(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:6 ============ Jos 3:6 And Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, "Take up the ark of the covenant and cross over ahead of the people." So they took up the ark of the covenant and went ahead of the people.(nas) Jos 3:6 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν ἄρατε τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ προπορεύεσθε τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ ἦραν οἱ ἱερεῖς τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ ἐπορεύοντο ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ λαοῦ (lxx) Jos 3:6 Et ait ad sacerdotes: Tollite arcam fœderis, et præcedite populum. Qui jussa complentes, tulerunt, et ambulaverunt ante eos.(vulgate) 6 ׃3 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ אֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים לֵאמֹ֔ר שְׂאוּ֙ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן הַבְּרִ֔ית וְעִבְר֖וּ לִפְנֵ֣י הָעָ֑ם וַיִּשְׂאוּ֙ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן הַבְּרִ֔ית וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י הָעָֽם׃ ס Joshua Jos 3:6 Und zu den Priestern sprach er: Tragt die Lade des Bundes und geht vor dem Volk her. Da trugen sie die Lade des Bundes und gingen vor dem Volk her.(dhs) Jos 3:6 Then Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, "Take up the ark of the covenant and cross over before the people." So they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:7 ============ Jos 3:7 Now the Lord said to Joshua, "This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you.(nas) Jos 3:7 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Ἰησοῦν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ ἄρχομαι ὑψῶσαί σε κατενώπιον πάντων υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἵνα γνῶσιν καθότι ἤμην μετὰ Μωυσῆ οὕτως ἔσομαι καὶ μετὰ σοῦ (lxx) Jos 3:7 Dixitque Dominus ad Josue: Hodie incipiam exaltare te coram omni Israël: ut sciant quod sicut cum Moyse fui, ita et tecum sim.(vulgate) 7 ׃3 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֗ה אָחֵל֙ גַּדֶּלְךָ֔ בְּעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁר֙ יֵֽדְע֔וּן כִּ֗י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיִ֛יתִי עִם־מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶהְיֶ֥ה עִמָּֽךְ׃ Joshua Jos 3:7 Und der HERR sprach zu Josua: Heute will ich anfangen, dich groß zu machen vor dem ganzen Israel, daß sie wissen, wie ich mit Mose gewesen bin, also sei ich auch mit dir.(dhs) Jos 3:7 And the Lord said to Joshua, "This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:8 ============ Jos 3:8 You shall, moreover, command the priests who are carrying the ark of the covenant, saying, 'When you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.'"(nas) Jos 3:8 καὶ νῦν ἔντειλαι τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν τοῖς αἴρουσιν τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης λέγων ὡς ἂν εἰσέλθητε ἐπὶ μέρους τοῦ ὕδατος τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἐν τῷ Ιορδάνῃ στήσεσθε (lxx) Jos 3:8 Tu autem præcipe sacerdotibus, qui portant arcam fœderis, et dic eis: Cum ingressi fueritis partem aquæ Jordanis, state in ea.(vulgate) 8 ׃3 וְאַתָּ֗ה תְּצַוֶּה֙ אֶת־הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים נֹשְׂאֵ֥י אֲרֽוֹן־הַבְּרִ֖ית לֵאמֹ֑ר כְּבֹאֲכֶ֗ם עַד־קְצֵה֙ מֵ֣י הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן בַּיַּרְדֵּ֖ן תַּעֲמֹֽדוּ׃ פ Joshua Jos 3:8 Und du gebiete den Priestern, die die Lade des Bunde tragen, und sprich: Wenn ihr kommt vorn ins Wasser des Jordans, so steht still.(dhs) Jos 3:8 You shall command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, 'When you have come to the edge of the water of the Jordan, you shall stand in the Jordan.' "(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:9 ============ Jos 3:9 Then Joshua said to the sons of Israel, "Come here, and hear the words of the Lord your God."(nas) Jos 3:9 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ προσαγάγετε ὧδε καὶ ἀκούσατε τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν (lxx) Jos 3:9 Dixitque Josue ad filios Israël: Accedite huc, et audite verbum Domini Dei vestri.(vulgate) 9 ׃3 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל גֹּ֣שׁוּ הֵ֔נָּה וְשִׁמְע֕וּ אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 3:9 Und Josua sprach zu den Kindern Israel: Herzu! und Hört die Worte des HERRN, eures Gottes!(dhs) Jos 3:9 So Joshua said to the children of Israel, "Come here, and hear the words of the Lord your God."(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:10 ============ Jos 3:10 Joshua said, "By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will assuredly dispossess from before you the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Hivite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, and the Jebusite.(nas) Jos 3:10 ἐν τούτῳ γνώσεσθε ὅτι θεὸς ζῶν ἐν ὑμῖν καὶ ὀλεθρεύων ὀλεθρεύσει ἀπὸ προσώπου ἡμῶν τὸν Χαναναῖον καὶ τὸν Χετταῖον καὶ τὸν Φερεζαῖον καὶ τὸν Ευαῖον καὶ τὸν Αμορραῖον καὶ τὸν Γεργεσαῖον καὶ τὸν Ιεβουσαῖον (lxx) Jos 3:10 Et rursum: In hoc, inquit, scietis quod Dominus Deus vivens in medio vestri est, et disperdet in conspectu vestro Chananæum et Hethæum, Hevæum et Pherezæum, Gergesæum quoque et Jebusæum, et Amorrhæum.(vulgate) 10 ׃3 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ בְּזֹאת֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּן כִּ֛י אֵ֥ל חַ֖י בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם וְהוֹרֵ֣שׁ יוֹרִ֣ישׁ מִ֠פְּנֵיכֶם אֶת־הַכְּנַעֲנִ֨י וְאֶת־הַחִתִּ֜י וְאֶת־הַחִוִּ֗י וְאֶת־הַפְּרִזִּי֙ וְאֶת־הַגִּרְגָּשִׁ֔י וְהָאֱמֹרִ֖י וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃ Joshua Jos 3:10 Und sprach: Dabei sollt ihr merken, daß ein lebendiger Gott unter euch ist, und daß er vor euch austreiben wird die Kanaaniter, Hethiter, Heviter, Pheresiter, Girgasiter, Amoriter und Jebusiter.(dhs) Jos 3:10 And Joshua said, "By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Hivites and the Perizzites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Jebusites:(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:11 ============ Jos 3:11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over ahead of you into the Jordan.(nas) Jos 3:11 ἰδοὺ ἡ κιβωτὸς διαθήκης κυρίου πάσης τῆς γῆς διαβαίνει τὸν Ιορδάνην (lxx) Jos 3:11 Ecce arca fœderis Domini omnis terræ antecedet vos per Jordanem.(vulgate) 11 ׃3 הִנֵּה֙ אֲר֣וֹן הַבְּרִ֔ית אֲד֖וֹן כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ עֹבֵ֥ר לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם בַּיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ Joshua Jos 3:11 Siehe, die Lade des Bundes des Herrschers über alle Welt wird vor euch her gehen in den Jordan.(dhs) Jos 3:11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over before you into the Jordan.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:12 ============ Jos 3:12 Now then, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe.(nas) Jos 3:12 προχειρίσασθε ὑμῖν δώδεκα ἄνδρας ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἕνα ἀφ᾽ ἑκάστης φυλῆς (lxx) Jos 3:12 Parate duodecim viros de tribubus Israël, singulos per singulas tribus.(vulgate) 12 ׃3 וְעַתָּ֗ה קְח֤וּ לָכֶם֙ שְׁנֵ֣י עָשָׂ֣ר אִ֔ישׁ מִשִּׁבְטֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אִישׁ־אֶחָ֥ד אִישׁ־אֶחָ֖ד לַשָּֽׁבֶט׃ Joshua Jos 3:12 So nehmt nun zwölf aus den Stämmen Israels, aus jeglichem Stamm einen.(dhs) Jos 3:12 Now therefore, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man from every tribe.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:13 ============ Jos 3:13 It shall come about when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, and the waters which are flowing down from above will stand in one heap."(nas) Jos 3:13 καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἂν καταπαύσωσιν οἱ πόδες τῶν ἱερέων τῶν αἰρόντων τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου πάσης τῆς γῆς ἐν τῷ ὕδατι τοῦ Ιορδάνου τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἐκλείψει τὸ δὲ ὕδωρ τὸ καταβαῖνον στήσεται (lxx) Jos 3:13 Et cum posuerint vestigia pedum suorum sacerdotes qui portant arcam Domini Dei universæ terræ in aquis Jordanis, aquæ quæ inferiores sunt, decurrent atque deficient: quæ autem desuper veniunt, in una mole consistent.~(vulgate) 13 ׃3 וְהָיָ֡ה כְּנ֣וֹחַ כַּפּ֣וֹת רַגְלֵ֣י הַכֹּהֲנִ֡ים נֹשְׂאֵי֩ אֲר֨וֹן יְהוָ֜ה אֲד֤וֹן כָּל־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ בְּמֵ֣י הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן מֵ֤י הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ יִכָּ֣רֵת֔וּן הַמַּ֥יִם הַיֹּרְדִ֖ים מִלְמָ֑עְלָה וְיַעַמְד֖וּ נֵ֥ד אֶחָֽד׃ Joshua Jos 3:13 Wenn dann die Fußsohlen der Priester, die des HERRN Lade, des Herrschers über alle Welt, tragen, in des Jordans Wasser sich lassen, so wird das Wasser, das von oben herabfließt im Jordan, abreißen, daß es auf einem Haufen stehen bleibe.(dhs) Jos 3:13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, the waters that come down from upstream, and they shall stand as a heap."(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:14 ============ Jos 3:14 So when the people set out from their tents to cross the Jordan with the priests carrying the ark of the covenant before the people,(nas) Jos 3:14 καὶ ἀπῆρεν ὁ λαὸς ἐκ τῶν σκηνωμάτων αὐτῶν διαβῆναι τὸν Ιορδάνην οἱ δὲ ἱερεῖς ἤροσαν τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου πρότεροι τοῦ λαοῦ (lxx) Jos 3:14 Igitur egressus est populus de tabernaculis suis, ut transiret Jordanem: et sacerdotes, qui portabant arcam fœderis, pergebant ante eum.(vulgate) 14 ׃3 וַיְהִ֗י בִּנְסֹ֤עַ הָעָם֙ מֵאָ֣הֳלֵיהֶ֔ם לַעֲבֹ֖ר אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים נֹֽ[m]שְׂאֵ֛י הָאָר֥וֹן הַבְּרִ֖ית לִפְנֵ֥י הָעָֽם׃ Joshua Jos 3:14 Da nun das Volk auszog aus seinen Hütten, daß sie über den Jordan gingen, und die Priester die Lade des Bundes vor dem Volk her trugen(dhs) Jos 3:14 So it was, when the people set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:15 ============ Jos 3:15 and when those who carried the ark came into the Jordan, and the feet of the priests carrying the ark were dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the days of harvest),(nas) Jos 3:15 ὡς δὲ εἰσεπορεύοντο οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ αἴροντες τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης ἐπὶ τὸν Ιορδάνην καὶ οἱ πόδες τῶν ἱερέων τῶν αἰρόντων τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου ἐβάφησαν εἰς μέρος τοῦ ὕδατος τοῦ Ιορδάνου ὁ δὲ Ιορδάνης ἐπλήρου καθ᾽ ὅλην τὴν κρηπῖδα αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ ἡμέραι θερισμοῦ πυρῶν (lxx) Jos 3:15 Ingressisque eis Jordanem, et pedibus eorum in parte aquæ tinctis (Jordanis autem ripas alvei sui tempore messis impleverat),(vulgate) 15 ׃3 וּכְב֞וֹא נֹשְׂאֵ֤י הָֽאָרוֹן֙ עַד־הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וְרַגְלֵ֤י הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ נֹשְׂאֵ֣י הָֽאָר֔וֹן נִטְבְּל֖וּ בִּקְצֵ֣ה הַמָּ֑יִם וְהַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן מָלֵא֙ עַל־כָּל־גְּדוֹתָ֔יו כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֥י קָצִֽיר׃ Joshua Jos 3:15 und an den Jordan kamen und ihre Füße vorn ins Wasser tauchten (der Jordan aber war voll an allen seinen Ufern die ganze Zeit der Ernte),(dhs) Jos 3:15 and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest),(nkjv) ======= Joshua 3:16 ============ Jos 3:16 the waters which were flowing down from above stood and rose up in one heap, a great distance away at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those which were flowing down toward the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off.
