Today's Date: ======= 1 Samuel 27:1 ============ 1Sa 27:1 Then David said to himself, "Now I will perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than to escape into the land of the Philistines. Saul then will despair of searching for me anymore in all the territory of Israel, and I will escape from his hand."(nas) 1Sa 27:1 καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ λέγων νῦν προστεθήσομαι ἐν ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷ εἰς χεῖρας Σαουλ καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν μοι ἀγαθόν ἐὰν μὴ σωθῶ εἰς γῆν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἀνῇ Σαουλ τοῦ ζητεῖν με εἰς πᾶν ὅριον Ισραηλ καὶ σωθήσομαι ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτοῦ (lxx) 1Sa 27:1 Et ait David in corde suo: Aliquando incidam una die in manus Saul: nonne melius est ut fugiam, et salver in terra Philisthinorum, ut desperet Saul, cessetque me quærere in cunctis finibus Israël? fugiam ergo manus ejus.(vulgate) 1 ׃27 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר דָּוִד֙ אֶל־לִבּ֔וֹ עַתָּ֛ה אֶסָּפֶ֥ה יוֹם־אֶחָ֖ד בְּיַד־שָׁא֑וּל אֵֽין־לִ֨י ט֜וֹב כִּ֣י הִמָּלֵ֥ט אִמָּלֵ֣ט ׀ אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים וְנוֹאַ֨שׁ מִמֶּ֤נִּי שָׁאוּל֙ לְבַקְשֵׁ֤נִי עוֹד֙ בְּכָל־גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְנִמְלַטְתִּ֖י מִיָּדֽוֹ׃ Samuel1 1Sa 27:1 David aber gedachte in seinem Herzen: Ich werde der Tage einen Saul in die Hände fallen; es ist mir nichts besser, denn daß ich entrinne in der Philister Land, daß Saul von mir ablasse, mich fürder zu suchen im ganzen Gebiet Israels; so werde ich seinen Händen entrinnen.(dhs) 1Sa 27:1 And David said in his heart, "Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:2 ============ 1Sa 27:2 So David arose and crossed over, he and the six hundred men who were with him, to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.(nas) 1Sa 27:2 καὶ ἀνέστη Δαυιδ καὶ οἱ τετρακόσιοι ἄνδρες μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπορεύθη πρὸς Αγχους υἱὸν Αμμαχ βασιλέα Γεθ (lxx) 1Sa 27:2 Et surrexit David, et abiit ipse, et sexcenti viri cum eo, ad Achis filium Maoch regem Geth.(vulgate) 2 ׃27 וַיָּ֣קָם דָּוִ֔ד וַיַּעֲבֹ֣ר ה֔וּא וְשֵׁשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת אִ֖ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עִמּ֑וֹ אֶל־אָכִ֥ישׁ בֶּן־מָע֖וֹךְ מֶ֥לֶךְ גַּֽת׃ Samuel1 1Sa 27:2 Und machte sich auf und ging hinüber samt den sechshundert Mann, die bei ihm waren, zu Achis, dem Sohn Maochs, dem König zu Gath.(dhs) 1Sa 27:2 Then David arose and went over with the six hundred men who were with him to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:3 ============ 1Sa 27:3 And David lived with Achish at Gath, he and his men, each with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's widow.(nas) 1Sa 27:3 καὶ ἐκάθισεν Δαυιδ μετὰ Αγχους ἐν Γεθ αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες αὐτοῦ ἕκαστος καὶ ὁ οἶκος αὐτοῦ καὶ Δαυιδ καὶ ἀμφότεραι αἱ γυναῖκες αὐτοῦ Αχινααμ ἡ Ιεζραηλῖτις καὶ Αβιγαια ἡ γυνὴ Ναβαλ τοῦ Καρμηλίου (lxx) 1Sa 27:3 Et habitavit David cum Achis in Geth, ipse et viri ejus: vir et domus ejus: et David, et duæ uxores ejus, Achinoam Jezrahelitis, et Abigail uxor Nabal Carmeli.(vulgate) 3 ׃27 וַיֵּשֶׁב֩ דָּוִ֨ד עִם־אָכִ֥ישׁ בְּגַ֛ת ה֥וּא וַאֲנָשָׁ֖יו אִ֣ישׁ וּבֵית֑וֹ דָּוִד֙ וּשְׁתֵּ֣י נָשָׁ֔יו אֲחִינֹ֙עַם֙ הַיִּזְרְעֵאלִ֔ית וַאֲבִיגַ֥יִל אֵֽשֶׁת־נָבָ֖ל הַֽכַּרְמְלִֽית׃ Samuel1 1Sa 27:3 Also blieb David bei Achis zu Gath mit seinen Männern, ein jeglicher mit seinem Hause, David auch mit seinen zwei Weibern Ahinoam, der Jesreelitin, und Abigail, des Nabals Weibe, der Karmeliterin.(dhs) 1Sa 27:3 So David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, each man with his household, and David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's widow.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:4 ============ 1Sa 27:4 Now it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath, so he no longer searched for him.(nas) 1Sa 27:4 καὶ ἀνηγγέλη τῷ Σαουλ ὅτι πέφευγεν Δαυιδ εἰς Γεθ καὶ οὐ προσέθετο ἔτι ζητεῖν αὐτόν (lxx) 1Sa 27:4 Et nuntiatum est Sauli quod fugisset David in Geth, et non addidit ultra quærere eum.(vulgate) 4 ׃27 וַיֻּגַּ֣ד לְשָׁא֔וּל כִּֽי־בָרַ֥ח דָּוִ֖ד גַּ֑ת וְלֹֽא־*יוסף **יָסַ֥ף ע֖וֹד לְבַקְשֽׁוֹ׃ ס Samuel1 1Sa 27:4 Und da Saul angesagt ward, daß David gen Gath geflohen wäre, suchte er ihn nicht mehr.(dhs) 1Sa 27:4 And it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath; so he sought him no more.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:5 ============ 1Sa 27:5 Then David said to Achish, "If now I have found favor in your sight, let them give me a place in one of the cities in the country, that I may live there; for why should your servant live in the royal city with you?"(nas) 1Sa 27:5 καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Αγχους εἰ δὴ εὕρηκεν ὁ δοῦλός σου χάριν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς σου δότωσαν δή μοι τόπον ἐν μιᾷ τῶν πόλεων τῶν κατ᾽ ἀγρὸν καὶ καθήσομαι ἐκεῖ καὶ ἵνα τί κάθηται ὁ δοῦλός σου ἐν πόλει βασιλευομένῃ μετὰ σοῦ (lxx) 1Sa 27:5 Dixit autem David ad Achis: Si inveni gratiam in oculis tuis, detur mihi locus in una urbium regionis hujus, ut habitem ibi: cur enim manet servus tuus in civitate regis tecum?(vulgate) 5 ׃27 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜ד אֶל־אָכִ֗ישׁ אִם־נָא֩ מָצָ֨אתִי חֵ֤ן בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ יִתְּנוּ־לִ֣י מָק֗וֹם בְּאַחַ֛ת עָרֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה וְאֵ֣שְׁבָה שָּׁ֑ם וְלָ֨מָּה יֵשֵׁ֧ב עַבְדְּךָ֛ בְּעִ֥יר הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה עִמָּֽךְ׃ Samuel1 1Sa 27:5 Und David sprach zu Achis: Habe ich Gnade vor deinen Augen gefunden, so laß mir geben einen Raum in der Städte einer auf dem Lande, daß ich darin wohne; was soll dein Knecht in der königlichen Stadt bei dir wohnen?(dhs) 1Sa 27:5 Then David said to Achish, "If I have now found favor in your eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there. For why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:6 ============ 1Sa 27:6 So Achish gave him Ziklag that day; therefore Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah to this day.(nas) 1Sa 27:6 καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ τὴν Σεκελακ διὰ τοῦτο ἐγενήθη Σεκελακ τῷ βασιλεῖ τῆς Ιουδαίας ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης (lxx) 1Sa 27:6 Dedit itaque ei Achis in die illa Siceleg: propter quam causam facta est Siceleg regum Juda usque in diem hanc.(vulgate) 6 ׃27 וַיִּתֶּן־ל֥וֹ אָכִ֛ישׁ בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא אֶת־צִֽקְלָ֑ג לָכֵ֞ן הָיְתָ֤ה צִֽקְלַג֙ לְמַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ פ Samuel1 1Sa 27:6 Da gab ihm Achis des Tages Ziklag. Daher gehört Ziklag zu den Königen Juda's bis auf diesen Tag.(dhs) 1Sa 27:6 So Achish gave him Ziklag that day. Therefore Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah to this day.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:7 ============ 1Sa 27:7 The number of days that David lived in the country of the Philistines was a year and four months.(nas) 1Sa 27:7 καὶ ἐγενήθη ὁ ἀριθμὸς τῶν ἡμερῶν ὧν ἐκάθισεν Δαυιδ ἐν ἀγρῷ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων τέσσαρας μῆνας (lxx) 1Sa 27:7 Fuit autem numerus dierum quibus habitavit David in regione Philisthinorum, quatuor mensium.~(vulgate) 7 ׃27 וַֽיְהִי֙ מִסְפַּ֣ר הַיָּמִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־יָשַׁ֥ב דָּוִ֖ד בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים יָמִ֖ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה חֳדָשִֽׁים׃ Samuel1 1Sa 27:7 Die Zeit aber, die David in der Philister Lande wohnte, ist ein Jahr und vier Monate.(dhs) 1Sa 27:7 Now the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was one full year and four months.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:8 ============ 1Sa 27:8 Now David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites and the Girzites and the Amalekites; for they were the inhabitants of the land from ancient times, as you come to Shur even as far as the land of Egypt.(nas) 1Sa 27:8 καὶ ἀνέβαινεν Δαυιδ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπετίθεντο ἐπὶ πάντα τὸν Γεσιρι καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν Αμαληκίτην καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡ γῆ κατῳκεῖτο ἀπὸ ἀνηκόντων ἡ ἀπὸ Γελαμψουρ τετειχισμένων καὶ ἕως γῆς Αἰγύπτου (lxx) 1Sa 27:8 Et ascendit David et viri ejus, et agebant prædas de Gessuri, et de Gerzi, et de Amalecitis: hi enim pagi habitabantur in terra antiquitus, euntibus Sur usque ad terram Ægypti.(vulgate) 8 ׃27 וַיַּ֤עַל דָּוִד֙ וֽ͏ַאֲנָשָׁ֔יו וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֛וּ אֶל־הַגְּשׁוּרִ֥י *והגרזי **וְהַגִּזְרִ֖י וְהָעֲמָלֵקִ֑י כִּ֣י הֵ֜נָּה יֹשְׁב֤וֹת הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מֵֽעוֹלָ֔ם בּוֹאֲךָ֥ שׁ֖וּרָה וְעַד־אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ Samuel1 1Sa 27:8 David aber zog hinauf samt seinen Männern und fiel ins Land der Gessuriter und Girsiter und Amalekiter; denn diese waren von alters her die Einwohner dieses Landes, wo man kommt gen Sur bis an Ägyptenland.(dhs) 1Sa 27:8 And David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites. Then he returned and came to Achish.(nas) 1Sa 27:9 καὶ ἔτυπτε τὴν γῆν καὶ οὐκ ἐζωογόνει ἄνδρα καὶ γυναῖκα καὶ ἐλάμβανεν ποίμνια καὶ βουκόλια καὶ ὄνους καὶ καμήλους καὶ ἱματισμόν καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν καὶ ἤρχοντο πρὸς Αγχους (lxx) 1Sa 27:9 Et percutiebat David omnem terram, nec relinquebat viventem virum et mulierem: tollensque oves, et boves, et asinos, et camelos, et vestes, revertebatur, et veniebat ad Achis.(vulgate) 9 ׃27 וְהִכָּ֤ה דָוִד֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ וְלֹ֥א יְחַיֶּ֖ה אִ֣ישׁ וְאִשָּׁ֑ה וְלָקַח֩ צֹ֨אן וּבָקָ֜ר וַחֲמֹרִ֤ים וּגְמַלִּים֙ וּבְגָדִ֔ים וַיָּ֖שָׁב וַיָּבֹ֥א אֶל־אָכִֽישׁ׃ Samuel1 1Sa 27:9 Da aber David das Land schlug, ließ er weder Mann noch Weib leben und nahm Schafe, Rinder, Esel, Kamele und Kleider und kehrte wieder und kam zu Achis.(dhs) 1Sa 27:9 Whenever David attacked the land, he left neither man nor woman alive, but took away the sheep, the oxen, the donkeys, the camels, and the apparel, and returned and came to Achish.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:10 ============ 1Sa 27:10 Now Achish said, "Where have you made a raid today?" And David said, "Against the Negev of Judah and against the Negev of the Jerahmeelites and against the Negev of the Kenites."(nas) 1Sa 27:10 καὶ εἶπεν Αγχους πρὸς Δαυιδ ἐπὶ τίνα ἐπέθεσθε σήμερον καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Αγχους κατὰ νότον τῆς Ιουδαίας καὶ κατὰ νότον Ιεσμεγα καὶ κατὰ νότον τοῦ Κενεζι (lxx) 1Sa 27:10 Dicebat autem ei Achis: In quem irruisti hodie? Respondebat David: Contra meridiem Judæ, et contra meridiem Jerameel, et contra meridiem Ceni.(vulgate) 10 ׃27 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אָכִ֔ישׁ אַל־פְּשַׁטְתֶּ֖ם הַיּ֑וֹם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֗ד עַל־נֶ֤גֶב יְהוּדָה֙ וְעַל־נֶ֣גֶב הַיַּרְחְמְאֵלִ֔י וְאֶל־נֶ֖גֶב הַקֵּינִֽי׃ Samuel1 1Sa 27:10 Wenn dann Achis sprach: Seid ihr heute nicht eingefallen? so sprach David: In das Mittagsland Juda's und in das Mittagsland der Jerahmeeliter und in das Mittagsland der Keniter.(dhs) 1Sa 27:10 Then Achish would say, "Where have you made a raid today?" And David would say, "Against the southern area of Judah, or against the southern area of the Jerahmeelites, or against the southern area of the Kenites."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:11 ============ 1Sa 27:11 David did not leave a man or a woman alive to bring to Gath, saying, "Otherwise they will tell about us, saying, 'So has David done and so has been his practice all the time he has lived in the country of the Philistines.'"(nas) 1Sa 27:11 καὶ ἄνδρα καὶ γυναῖκα οὐκ ἐζωογόνησεν τοῦ εἰσαγαγεῖν εἰς Γεθ λέγων μὴ ἀναγγείλωσιν εἰς Γεθ καθ᾽ ἡμῶν λέγοντες τάδε Δαυιδ ποιεῖ καὶ τόδε τὸ δικαίωμα αὐτοῦ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ἃς ἐκάθητο Δαυιδ ἐν ἀγρῷ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων (lxx) 1Sa 27:11 Virum et mulierem non vivificabat David, nec adducebat in Geth, dicens: Ne forte loquantur adversum nos: Hæc fecit David: et hoc erat decretum illi omnibus diebus quibus habitavit in regione Philisthinorum.(vulgate) 11 ׃27 וְאִ֨ישׁ וְאִשָּׁ֜ה לֹֽא־יְחַיֶּ֣ה דָוִ֗ד לְהָבִ֥יא גַת֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר פֶּן־יַגִּ֥דוּ עָלֵ֖ינוּ לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּֽה־עָשָׂ֤ה דָוִד֙ וְכֹ֣ה מִשְׁפָּט֔וֹ כָּל־הַ֨יָּמִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָשַׁ֖ב בִּשְׂדֵ֥ה פְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ Samuel1 1Sa 27:11 David aber ließ weder Mann noch Weib lebendig gen Gath kommen und gedachte: Sie möchten wider uns reden und schwätzen. Also tat David, und das war seine Weise, solange er wohnte in der Philister Lande.(dhs) 1Sa 27:11 David would save neither man nor woman alive, to bring news to Gath, saying, "Lest they should inform on us, saying, 'Thus David did.' " And thus was his behavior all the time he dwelt in the country of the Philistines.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 27:12 ============ 1Sa 27:12 So Achish believed David, saying, "He has surely made himself odious among his people Israel; therefore he will become my servant forever."(nas) 1Sa 27:12 καὶ ἐπιστεύθη Δαυιδ ἐν τῷ Αγχους σφόδρα λέγων ᾔσχυνται αἰσχυνόμενος ἐν τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ ἐν Ισραηλ καὶ ἔσται μοι δοῦλος εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα (lxx) 1Sa 27:12 Credidit ergo Achis David, dicens: Multa mala operatus est contra populum suum Israël: erit igitur mihi servus sempiternus.(vulgate) 12 ׃27 וַיַּאֲמֵ֥ן אָכִ֖ישׁ בְּדָוִ֣ד לֵאמֹ֑ר הַבְאֵ֤שׁ הִבְאִישׁ֙ בְּעַמּ֣וֹ בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְהָ֥יָה לִ֖י לְעֶ֥בֶד עוֹלָֽם׃ פ Samuel1 1Sa 27:12 Darum glaubte Achis David und gedachte: Er hat sich stinkend gemacht vor seinem Volk Israel, darum soll er immer mein Knecht sein.(dhs) 1Sa 27:12 So Achish believed David, saying, "He has made his people Israel utterly abhor him; therefore he will be my servant forever."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 28:1 ============ top of the page
