Today's Date: ======= 1 Chronicles 20:1 ============ 1Ch 20:1 Then it happened in the spring, at the time when kings go out to battle, that Joab led out the army and ravaged the land of the sons of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. And Joab struck Rabbah and overthrew it.(nas) 1Ch 20:1 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐπιόντι ἔτει ἐν τῇ ἐξόδῳ τῶν βασιλέων καὶ ἤγαγεν Ιωαβ πᾶσαν τὴν δύναμιν τῆς στρατιᾶς καὶ ἔφθειραν τὴν χώραν υἱῶν Αμμων καὶ ἦλθεν καὶ περιεκάθισεν τὴν Ραββα καὶ Δαυιδ ἐκάθητο ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐπάταξεν Ιωαβ τὴν Ραββα καὶ κατέσκαψεν αὐτήν (lxx) 1Ch 20:1 Factum est autem post anni circulum, eo tempore quo solent reges ad bella procedere, congregavit Joab exercitum, et robur militiæ, et vastavit terram filiorum Ammon: perrexitque et obsedit Rabba. Porro David manebat in Jerusalem, quando Joab percussit Rabba et destruxit eam.(vulgate) 1 ׃20 וַיְהִ֡י לְעֵת֩ תְּשׁוּבַ֨ת הַשָּׁנָ֜ה לְעֵ֣ת ׀ צֵ֣את הַמְּלָכִ֗ים וַיִּנְהַ֣ג יוֹאָב֩ אֶת־חֵ֨יל הַצָּבָ֜א וַיַּשְׁחֵ֣ת ׀ אֶת־אֶ֣רֶץ בְּנֵֽי־עַמּ֗וֹן וַיָּבֹא֙ וַיָּ֣צַר אֶת־רַבָּ֔ה וְדָוִ֖יד יֹשֵׁ֣ב בִּירֽוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וַיַּ֥ךְ יוֹאָ֛ב אֶת־רַבָּ֖ה וַיֶּֽהֶרְסֶֽהָ׃ Chronicles1 1Ch 20:1 Und da das Jahr um war, zur Zeit, wann die Könige ausziehen, führte Joab die Heermacht und verderbte der Kinder Ammon Land, kam und belagerte Rabba; David aber blieb zu Jerusalem. And he brought out the spoil of the city, a very great amount.(nas) 1Ch 20:2 καὶ ἔλαβεν Δαυιδ τὸν στέφανον Μολχολ βασιλέως αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ εὑρέθη ὁ σταθμὸς αὐτοῦ τάλαντον χρυσίου καὶ ἐν αὐτῷ λίθος τίμιος καὶ ἦν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν Δαυιδ καὶ σκῦλα τῆς πόλεως ἐξήνεγκεν πολλὰ σφόδρα (lxx) 1Ch 20:2 Tulit autem David coronam Melchom de capite ejus, et invenit in ea auri pondo talentum, et pretiosissimas gemmas, fecitque sibi inde diadema: manubias quoque urbis plurimas tulit;(vulgate) 2 ׃20 וַיִּקַּ֣ח דָּוִ֣יד אֶת־עֲטֶֽרֶת־מַלְכָּם֩ מֵעַ֨ל רֹאשׁ֜וֹ וַֽיִּמְצָאָ֣הּ ׀ מִשְׁקַ֣ל כִּכַּר־זָהָ֗ב וּבָהּ֙ אֶ֣בֶן יְקָרָ֔ה וַתְּהִ֖י עַל־רֹ֣אשׁ דָּוִ֑יד וּשְׁלַ֥ל הָעִ֛יר הוֹצִ֖יא הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃ Chronicles1 1Ch 20:2 Und David nahm die Krone seines Königs von seinem Haupt und fand daran einen Zentner Gold und Edelsteine; und sie ward David auf sein Haupt gesetzt. And thus David did to all the cities of the sons of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.(nas) 1Ch 20:3 καὶ τὸν λαὸν τὸν ἐν αὐτῇ ἐξήγαγεν καὶ διέπρισεν πρίοσιν καὶ ἐν σκεπάρνοις σιδηροῖς καὶ οὕτως ἐποίησεν Δαυιδ τοῖς πᾶσιν υἱοῖς Αμμων καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν Δαυιδ καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς αὐτοῦ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ (lxx) 1Ch 20:3 populum autem, qui erat in ea, eduxit, et fecit super eos tribulas, et trahas, et ferrata carpenta transire, ita ut dissecarentur et contererentur. Sic fecit David cunctis urbibus filiorum Ammon: et reversus est cum omni populo suo in Jerusalem.(vulgate) 3 ׃20 וְאֶת־הָעָ֨ם אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֜הּ הוֹצִ֗יא וַיָּ֨שַׂר בַּמְּגֵרָ֜ה וּבַחֲרִיצֵ֤י הַבַּרְזֶל֙ וּבַמְּגֵר֔וֹת וְכֵן֙ יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה דָוִ֔יד לְכֹ֖ל עָרֵ֣י בְנֵי־עַמּ֑וֹן וַיָּ֧שָׁב דָּוִ֛יד וְכָל־הָעָ֖ם יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ פ Chronicles1 1Ch 20:3 Aber das Volk drinnen führte er heraus und zerteilte sie mit Sägen und eisernen Dreschwagen und Keilen. Also tat David in allen Städten der Kinder Ammon. Und David zog samt dem Volk wider nach Jerusalem.(dhs) 1Ch 20:3 And he brought out the people who were in it, and put them to work with saws, with iron picks, and with axes. So David did to all the cities of the people of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 20:4 ============ 1Ch 20:4 Now it came about after this, that war broke out at Gezer with the Philistines; then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, one of the descendants of the giants, and they were subdued.(nas) 1Ch 20:4 καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ταῦτα καὶ ἐγένετο ἔτι πόλεμος ἐν Γαζερ μετὰ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων τότε ἐπάταξεν Σοβοχαι ὁ Ουσαθι τὸν Σαφου ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν γιγάντων καὶ ἐταπείνωσεν αὐτόν (lxx) 1Ch 20:4 Post hæc initum est bellum in Gazer adversum Philisthæos, in quo percussit Sobochai Husathites, Saphai de genere Raphaim, et humiliavit eos.(vulgate) 4 ׃20 וַיְהִי֙ אַחֲרֵי[c]כֵ֔ן וַתַּעֲמֹ֧ד מִלְחָמָ֛ה בְּגֶ֖זֶר עִם־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים אָ֣ז הִכָּ֞ה סִבְּכַ֣י הַחֻֽשָׁתִ֗י אֶת־סִפַּ֛י מִילִדֵ֥י הָרְפָאִ֖ים וַיִּכָּנֵֽעוּ׃ Chronicles1 1Ch 20:4 Darnach erhob sich ein Streit zu Geser mit den Philistern. And they were subdued.(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 20:5 ============ 1Ch 20:5 And there was war with the Philistines again, and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.(nas) 1Ch 20:5 καὶ ἐγένετο ἔτι πόλεμος μετὰ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἐπάταξεν Ελλαναν υἱὸς Ιαϊρ τὸν Λεεμι ἀδελφὸν Γολιαθ τοῦ Γεθθαίου καὶ ξύλον δόρατος αὐτοῦ ὡς ἀντίον ὑφαινόντων (lxx) 1Ch 20:5 Aliud quoque bellum gestum est adversus Philisthæos, in quo percussit Adeodatus filius Saltus Bethlehemites fratrem Goliath Gethæi, cujus hastæ lignum erat quasi liciatorium texentium.(vulgate) 5 ׃20 וַתְּהִי־ע֥וֹד מִלְחָמָ֖ה אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַיַּ֞ךְ אֶלְחָנָ֣ן בֶּן־*יעור **יָעִ֗יר אֶת־לַחְמִי֙ אֲחִי֙ גָּלְיָ֣ת הַגִּתִּ֔י וְעֵ֣ץ חֲנִית֔וֹ כִּמְנ֖וֹר אֹרְגִֽים׃ Chronicles1 1Ch 20:5 Und es erhob sich noch ein Streit mit den Philistern. Da schlug Elhanan, der Sohn Jairs, den Lahemi, den Bruder Goliaths, den Gathiter, welcher hatte eine Spießstange wie ein Weberbaum.(dhs) 1Ch 20:5 Again there was war with the Philistines, and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 20:6 ============ 1Ch 20:6 Again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot; and he also was descended from the giants.(nas) 1Ch 20:6 καὶ ἐγένετο ἔτι πόλεμος ἐν Γεθ καὶ ἦν ἀνὴρ ὑπερμεγέθης καὶ δάκτυλοι αὐτοῦ ἓξ καὶ ἕξ εἴκοσι τέσσαρες καὶ οὗτος ἦν ἀπόγονος γιγάντων (lxx) 1Ch 20:6 Sed et aliud bellum accidit in Geth, in quo fuit homo longissimus, senos habens digitos, id est, simul viginti quatuor: qui et ipse de Rapha fuerat stirpe generatus.(vulgate) 6 ׃20 וַתְּהִי־ע֥וֹד מִלְחָמָ֖ה בְּגַ֑ת וַיְהִ֣י ׀ אִ֣ישׁ מִדָּ֗ה וְאֶצְבְּעֹתָ֤יו שֵׁשׁ־וָשֵׁשׁ֙ עֶשְׂרִ֣ים וְאַרְבַּ֔ע וְגַם־ה֖וּא נוֹלַ֥ד לְהָרָפָֽא׃ Chronicles1 1Ch 20:6 Abermals ward ein Streit zu Gath. Da war ein großer Mann, der hatte je sechs Finger und sechs Zehen, die machen zusammen vierundzwanzig; und er war auch von den Riesen geboren(dhs) 1Ch 20:6 Yet again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, with twenty-four fingers and toes, six on each hand and six on each foot; and he also was born to the giant.(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 20:7 ============ 1Ch 20:7 When he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David's brother, killed him.(nas) 1Ch 20:7 καὶ ὠνείδισεν τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν Ιωναθαν υἱὸς Σαμαα ἀδελφοῦ Δαυιδ (lxx) 1Ch 20:7 Hic blasphemavit Israël: et percussit eum Jonathan filius Samaa fratris David.(vulgate) 7 ׃20 וַיְחָרֵ֖ף אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּכֵּ֙הוּ֙ יְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ן בֶּן־שִׁמְעָ֖א אֲחִ֥י דָוִֽיד׃ Chronicles1 1Ch 20:7 und höhnte Israel.
