Today's Date: ======= Isaiah 24:1 ============ Isa 24:1 Behold, the Lord lays the earth waste, devastates it, distorts its surface and scatters its inhabitants.(nas) Isa 24:1 ἰδοὺ κύριος καταφθείρει τὴν οἰκουμένην καὶ ἐρημώσει αὐτὴν καὶ ἀνακαλύψει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτῆς καὶ διασπερεῖ τοὺς ἐνοικοῦντας ἐν αὐτῇ (lxx) Isa 24:1 [Ecce Dominus dissipabit terram: et nudabit eam, et affliget faciem ejus, et disperget habitatores ejus.(vulgate) 1 ׃24 הִנֵּ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה בּוֹקֵ֥ק הָאָ֖רֶץ וּבֽוֹלְקָ֑הּ וְעִוָּ֣ה פָנֶ֔יהָ וְהֵפִ֖יץ יֹשְׁבֶֽיהָ׃ Isaiah Isa 24:1 Siehe, der HERR macht das Land leer und wüst und wirft um, was darin ist, und zerstreut seine Einwohner.(dhs) Isa 24:1 Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty and makes it waste, Distorts its surface And scatters abroad its inhabitants.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:2 ============ Isa 24:2 And the people will be like the priest, the servant like his master, the maid like her mistress, the buyer like the seller, the lender like the borrower, the creditor like the debtor.(nas) Isa 24:2 καὶ ἔσται ὁ λαὸς ὡς ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ ὁ παῖς ὡς ὁ κύριος καὶ ἡ θεράπαινα ὡς ἡ κυρία ἔσται ὁ ἀγοράζων ὡς ὁ πωλῶν καὶ ὁ δανείζων ὡς ὁ δανειζόμενος καὶ ὁ ὀφείλων ὡς ᾧ ὀφείλει (lxx) Isa 24:2 Et erit sicut populus, sic sacerdos; et sicut servus, sic dominus ejus; sicut ancilla, sic domina ejus; sicut emens, sic ille qui vendit; sicut fœnerator, sic is qui mutuum accipit; sicut qui repetit, sic qui debet.(vulgate) 2 ׃24 וְהָיָ֤ה כָעָם֙ כַּכֹּהֵ֔ן כַּעֶ֙בֶד֙ כַּֽאדֹנָ֔יו כַּשִּׁפְחָ֖ה כַּגְּבִרְתָּ֑הּ כַּקּוֹנֶה֙ כַּמּוֹכֵ֔ר כַּמַּלְוֶה֙ כַּלֹּוֶ֔ה כַּנֹּשֶׁ֕ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר נֹשֶׁ֥א בֽוֹ׃ Isaiah Isa 24:2 Und es geht dem Priester wie dem Volk, dem Herrn wie dem Knecht, der Frau wie der Magd, dem Verkäufer wie dem Käufer, dem Leiher wie dem Borger, dem Mahnenden wie dem Schuldner.(dhs) Isa 24:2 And it shall be: As with the people, so with the priest; As with the servant, so with his master; As with the maid, so with her mistress; As with the buyer, so with the seller; As with the lender, so with the borrower; As with the creditor, so with the debtor.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:3 ============ Isa 24:3 The earth will be completely laid waste and completely despoiled, for the Lord has spoken this word.(nas) Isa 24:3 φθορᾷ φθαρήσεται ἡ γῆ καὶ προνομῇ προνομευθήσεται ἡ γῆ τὸ γὰρ στόμα κυρίου ἐλάλησεν ταῦτα (lxx) Isa 24:3 Dissipatione dissipabitur terra, et direptione prædabitur; Dominus enim locutus est verbum hoc.(vulgate) 3 ׃24 הִבּ֧וֹק ׀ תִּבּ֛וֹק הָאָ֖רֶץ וְהִבּ֣וֹז ׀ תִּבּ֑וֹז כִּ֣י יְהוָ֔ה דִּבֶּ֖ר אֶת־הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ Isaiah Isa 24:3 Denn das Land wird leer und beraubt sein; denn der HERR hat solches geredet.(dhs) Isa 24:3 The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered, For the Lord has spoken this word.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:4 ============ Isa 24:4 The earth mourns and withers, the world fades and withers, the exalted of the people of the earth fade away.(nas) Isa 24:4 ἐπένθησεν ἡ γῆ καὶ ἐφθάρη ἡ οἰκουμένη ἐπένθησαν οἱ ὑψηλοὶ τῆς γῆς (lxx) Isa 24:4 Luxit, et defluxit terra, et infirmata est; defluxit orbis, infirmata est altitudo populi terræ.(vulgate) 4 ׃24 אָבְלָ֤ה נָֽבְלָה֙ הָאָ֔רֶץ אֻמְלְלָ֥ה נָבְלָ֖ה תֵּבֵ֑ל אֻמְלָ֖לוּ מְר֥וֹם עַם־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ Isaiah Isa 24:4 Das Land steht jämmerlich und verderbt; der Erdboden nimmt ab und verdirbt; die Höchsten des Volks im Lande nehmen ab.(dhs) Isa 24:4 The earth mourns and fades away, The world languishes and fades away; The haughty people of the earth languish.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:5 ============ Isa 24:5 The earth is also polluted by its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws, violated statutes, broke the everlasting covenant.(nas) Isa 24:5 ἡ δὲ γῆ ἠνόμησεν διὰ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας αὐτήν διότι παρέβησαν τὸν νόμον καὶ ἤλλαξαν τὰ προστάγματα διαθήκην αἰώνιον (lxx) Isa 24:5 Et terra infecta est ab habitatoribus suis, quia transgressi sunt leges, mutaverunt jus, dissipaverunt fœdus sempiternum.(vulgate) 5 ׃24 וְהָאָ֥רֶץ חָנְפָ֖ה תַּ֣חַת יֹשְׁבֶ֑יהָ כִּֽי־עָבְר֤וּ תוֹרֹת֙ חָ֣לְפוּ חֹ֔ק הֵפֵ֖רוּ בְּרִ֥ית עוֹלָֽם׃ Isaiah Isa 24:5 Das Land ist entheiligt von seinen Einwohnern; denn sie übertreten das Gesetz und ändern die Gebote und lassen fahren den ewigen Bund.(dhs) Isa 24:5 The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, Because they have transgressed the laws, Changed the ordinance, Broken the everlasting covenant.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:6 ============ Isa 24:6 Therefore, a curse devours the earth, and those who live in it are held guilty. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left.(nas) Isa 24:6 διὰ τοῦτο ἀρὰ ἔδεται τὴν γῆν ὅτι ἡμάρτοσαν οἱ κατοικοῦντες αὐτήν διὰ τοῦτο πτωχοὶ ἔσονται οἱ ἐνοικοῦντες ἐν τῇ γῇ καὶ καταλειφθήσονται ἄνθρωποι ὀλίγοι (lxx) Isa 24:6 Propter hoc maledictio vorabit terram, et peccabunt habitatores ejus; ideoque insanient cultores ejus, et relinquentur homines pauci.(vulgate) 6 ׃24 עַל־כֵּ֗ן אָלָה֙ אָ֣כְלָה אֶ֔רֶץ וַֽיֶּאְשְׁמ֖וּ יֹ֣שְׁבֵי בָ֑הּ עַל־כֵּ֗ן חָרוּ֙ יֹ֣שְׁבֵי אֶ֔רֶץ וְנִשְׁאַ֥ר אֱנ֖וֹשׁ מִזְעָֽר׃ Isaiah Isa 24:6 Darum frißt der Fluch das Land; denn sie verschulden's, die darin wohnen. Darum verdorren die Einwohner des Landes, also daß wenig Leute übrigbleiben.(dhs) Isa 24:6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, And those who dwell in it are desolate. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, And few men are left.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:7 ============ Isa 24:7 The new wine mourns, The vine decays, All the merry-hearted sigh.(nas) Isa 24:7 πενθήσει οἶνος πενθήσει ἄμπελος στενάξουσιν πάντες οἱ εὐφραινόμενοι τὴν ψυχήν (lxx) Isa 24:7 Luxit vindemia, infirmata est vitis, ingemuerunt omnes qui lætabantur corde;(vulgate) 7 ׃24 אָבַ֥ל תִּיר֖וֹשׁ אֻמְלְלָה־גָ֑פֶן נֶאֶנְח֖וּ כָּל־שִׂמְחֵי־לֵֽב׃ Isaiah Isa 24:7 Der Most verschwindet, der Weinstock verschmachtet; und alle, die von Herzen fröhlich waren, seufzen.(dhs) Isa 24:7 The new wine fails, the vine languishes, All the merry-hearted sigh.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:8 ============ Isa 24:8 The gaiety of tambourines ceases, The noise of revelers stops, The gaiety of the harp ceases.(nas) Isa 24:8 πέπαυται εὐφροσύνη τυμπάνων πέπαυται αὐθάδεια καὶ πλοῦτος ἀσεβῶν πέπαυται φωνὴ κιθάρας (lxx) Isa 24:8 cessavit gaudium tympanorum, quievit sonitus lætantium, conticuit dulcedo citharæ.(vulgate) 8 ׃24 שָׁבַת֙ מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ תֻּפִּ֔ים חָדַ֖ל שְׁא֣וֹן עַלִּיזִ֑ים שָׁבַ֖ת מְשׂ֥וֹשׂ כִּנּֽוֹר׃ Isaiah Isa 24:8 Die Freude der Pauken feiert, das Jauchzen der Fröhlichen ist aus, und die Freude der Harfe hat ein Ende.(dhs) Isa 24:8 The mirth of the tambourine ceases, The noise of the jubilant ends, The joy of the harp ceases.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:9 ============ Isa 24:9 They do not drink wine with song; Strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.(nas) Isa 24:9 ᾐσχύνθησαν οὐκ ἔπιον οἶνον πικρὸν ἐγένετο τὸ σικερα τοῖς πίνουσιν (lxx) Isa 24:9 Cum cantico non bibent vinum; amara erit potio bibentibus illam.(vulgate) 9 ׃24 בַּשִּׁ֖יר לֹ֣א יִשְׁתּוּ־יָ֑יִן יֵמַ֥ר שֵׁכָ֖ר לְשֹׁתָֽיו׃ Isaiah Isa 24:9 Man singt nicht mehr beim Weintrinken, und gutes Getränk ist bitter denen, die es trinken.(dhs) Isa 24:9 They shall not drink wine with a song; Strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:10 ============ Isa 24:10 The city of chaos is broken down; Every house is shut up so that none may enter.(nas) Isa 24:10 ἠρημώθη πᾶσα πόλις κλείσει οἰκίαν τοῦ μὴ εἰσελθεῖν (lxx) Isa 24:10 Attrita est civitas vanitatis, clausa est omnis domus, nullo introëunte.(vulgate) 10 ׃24 נִשְׁבְּרָ֖ה קִרְיַת־תֹּ֑הוּ סֻגַּ֥ר כָּל־בַּ֖יִת מִבּֽוֹא׃ Isaiah Isa 24:10 Die leere Stadt ist zerbrochen; alle Häuser sind zugeschlossen, daß niemand hineingeht.(dhs) Isa 24:10 The city of confusion is broken down; Every house is shut up, so that none may go in.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:11 ============ Isa 24:11 There is an outcry in the streets concerning the wine; All joy turns to gloom. The gaiety of the earth is banished.(nas) Isa 24:11 ὀλολύζετε περὶ τοῦ οἴνου πανταχῇ πέπαυται πᾶσα εὐφροσύνη τῆς γῆς (lxx) Isa 24:11 Clamor erit super vino in plateis, deserta est omnia lætitia, translatum est gaudium terræ.(vulgate) 11 ׃24 צְוָחָ֥ה עַל־הַיַּ֖יִן בַּֽחוּצ֑וֹת עָֽרְבָה֙ כָּל־שִׂמְחָ֔ה גָּלָ֖ה מְשׂ֥וֹשׂ הָאָֽרֶץ׃ Isaiah Isa 24:11 Man klagt um den Wein auf den Gassen, daß alle Freude weg ist, alle Wonne des Landes dahin ist.(dhs) Isa 24:11 There is a cry for wine in the streets, All joy is darkened, The mirth of the land is gone.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:12 ============ Isa 24:12 Desolation is left in the city And the gate is battered to ruins.(nas) Isa 24:12 καὶ καταλειφθήσονται πόλεις ἔρημοι καὶ οἶκοι ἐγκαταλελειμμένοι ἀπολοῦνται (lxx) Isa 24:12 Relicta est in urbe solitudo, et calamitas opprimet portas.(vulgate) 12 ׃24 נִשְׁאַ֥ר בָּעִ֖יר שַׁמָּ֑ה וּשְׁאִיָּ֖ה יֻכַּת־שָֽׁעַר׃ Isaiah Isa 24:12 Eitel Wüstung ist in der Stadt geblieben, und die Tore stehen öde.(dhs) Isa 24:12 In the city desolation is left, And the gate is stricken with destruction.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:13 ============ Isa 24:13 For thus it will be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, As the shaking of an olive tree, As the gleanings when the grape harvest is over.(nas) Isa 24:13 ταῦτα πάντα ἔσται ἐν τῇ γῇ ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἐθνῶν ὃν τρόπον ἐάν τις καλαμήσηται ἐλαίαν οὕτως καλαμήσονται αὐτούς καὶ ἐὰν παύσηται ὁ τρύγητος (lxx) Isa 24:13 Quia hæc erunt in medio terræ in medio populorum, quomodo si paucæ olivæ quæ remanserunt excutiantur ex olea et racemi, cum fuerit finita vindemia.]~(vulgate) 13 ׃24 כִּ֣י כֹ֥ה יִהְיֶ֛ה בְּקֶ֥רֶב הָאָ֖רֶץ בְּת֣וֹךְ הָֽעַמִּ֑ים כְּנֹ֣קֶף זַ֔יִת כְּעוֹלֵלֹ֖ת אִם־כָּלָ֥ה בָצִֽיר׃ Isaiah Isa 24:13 Denn es geht im Lande und im Volk eben, wie wenn ein Ölbaum abgepflückt ist, wie wenn man nachliest, so die Weinernte aus ist.(dhs) Isa 24:13 When it shall be thus in the midst of the land among the people, It shall be like the shaking of an olive tree, Like the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:14 ============ Isa 24:14 They raise their voices, they shout for joy; They cry out from the west concerning the majesty of the Lord.(nas) Isa 24:14 οὗτοι φωνῇ βοήσονται οἱ δὲ καταλειφθέντες ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς εὐφρανθήσονται ἅμα τῇ δόξῃ κυρίου ταραχθήσεται τὸ ὕδωρ τῆς θαλάσσης (lxx) Isa 24:14 [Hi levabunt vocem suam, atque laudabunt: cum glorificatus fuerit Dominus, hinnient de mari.(vulgate) 14 ׃24 הֵ֛מָּה יִשְׂא֥וּ קוֹלָ֖ם יָרֹ֑נּוּ בִּגְא֣וֹן יְהוָ֔ה צָהֲל֖וּ מִיָּֽם׃ Isaiah Isa 24:14 Dieselben heben ihre Stimme auf und rühmen und jauchzen vom Meer her über der Herrlichkeit des HERRN.(dhs) Isa 24:14 They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; For the majesty of the Lord They shall cry aloud from the sea.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:15 ============ Isa 24:15 Therefore glorify the Lord in the east, The name of the Lord, the God of Israel, In the coastlands of the sea.(nas) Isa 24:15 διὰ τοῦτο ἡ δόξα κυρίου ἐν ταῖς νήσοις ἔσται τῆς θαλάσσης τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου ἔνδοξον ἔσται κύριε ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ (lxx) Isa 24:15 Propter hoc in doctrinis glorificate Dominum; in insulis maris nomen Domini Dei Israël.(vulgate) 15 ׃24 עַל־כֵּ֥ן בָּאֻרִ֖ים כַּבְּד֣וּ יְהוָ֑ה בְּאִיֵּ֣י הַיָּ֔ם שֵׁ֥ם יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ ס Isaiah Isa 24:15 So preiset nun den HERRN in den Gründen, in den Inseln des Meeres den Namen des HERRN, des Gottes Israels.(dhs) Isa 24:15 Therefore glorify the Lord in the dawning light, The name of the Lord God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:16 ============ Isa 24:16 From the ends of the earth we hear songs, "Glory to the Righteous One," But I say, "Woe to me! Woe to me! Alas for me! The treacherous deal treacherously, And the treacherous deal very treacherously."(nas) Isa 24:16 ἀπὸ τῶν πτερύγων τῆς γῆς τέρατα ἠκούσαμεν ἐλπὶς τῷ εὐσεβεῖ καὶ ἐροῦσιν οὐαὶ τοῖς ἀθετοῦσιν οἱ ἀθετοῦντες τὸν νόμον (lxx) Isa 24:16 A finibus terræ laudes audivimus, gloriam Justi. Et dixi: Secretum meum mihi, secretum meum mihi. Væ mihi! prævaricantes prævaricati sunt, et prævaricatione transgressorum prævaricati sunt.(vulgate) 16 ׃24 מִכְּנַ֨ף הָאָ֜רֶץ זְמִרֹ֤ת שָׁמַ֙עְנוּ֙ צְבִ֣י לַצַּדִּ֔יק וָאֹמַ֛ר רָזִי־לִ֥י רָֽזִי־לִ֖י א֣וֹי לִ֑י בֹּגְדִ֣ים בָּגָ֔דוּ וּבֶ֥גֶד בּוֹגְדִ֖ים בָּגָֽדוּ׃ Isaiah Isa 24:16 Wir hören Lobgesänge vom Ende der Erde zu Ehren dem Gerechten. Und ich muß sagen: Wie bin ich aber so elend! wie bin ich aber so elend! Weh mir! denn es rauben die Räuber, ja immerfort rauben die Räuber.(dhs) Isa 24:16 From the ends of the earth we have heard songs: "Glory to the righteous!" But I said, "I am ruined, ruined! Woe to me! The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously, Indeed, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:17 ============ Isa 24:17 Terror and pit and snare Confront you, O inhabitant of the earth.(nas) Isa 24:17 φόβος καὶ βόθυνος καὶ παγὶς ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς τοὺς ἐνοικοῦντας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς (lxx) Isa 24:17 Formido, et fovea, et laqueus super te, qui habitator es terræ.(vulgate) 17 ׃24 פַּ֥חַד וָפַ֖חַת וָפָ֑ח עָלֶ֖יךָ יוֹשֵׁ֥ב הָאָֽרֶץ׃ Isaiah Isa 24:17 Darum kommt über euch, Bewohner der Erde, Schrecken, Grube und Strick.(dhs) Isa 24:17 Fear and the pit and the snare Are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 24:18 ============ Isa 24:18 Then it will be that he who flees the report of disaster will fall into the pit, And he who climbs out of the pit will be caught in the snare; For the windows above are opened, and the foundations of the earth shake.(nas) Isa 24:18 καὶ ἔσται ὁ φεύγων τὸν φόβον ἐμπεσεῖται εἰς τὸν βόθυνον ὁ δὲ ἐκβαίνων ἐκ τοῦ βοθύνου ἁλώσεται ὑπὸ τῆς παγίδος ὅτι θυρίδες ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἠνεῴχθησαν καὶ σεισθήσεται τὰ θεμέλια τῆς γῆς (lxx) Isa 24:18 Et erit: qui fugerit a voce formidinis cadet in foveam; et qui se explicaverit de fovea tenebitur laqueo; quia cataractæ de excelsis apertæ sunt et concutientur fundamenta terræ.(vulgate) 18 ׃24 וֽ͏ְ֠הָיָה הַנָּ֞ס מִקּ֤וֹל הַפַּ֙חַד֙ יִפֹּ֣ל אֶל־הַפַּ֔חַת וְהָֽעוֹלֶה֙ מִתּ֣וֹךְ הַפַּ֔חַת יִלָּכֵ֖ד בַּפָּ֑ח כִּֽי־אֲרֻבּ֤וֹת מִמָּרוֹם֙ נִפְתָּ֔חוּ וַֽיִּרְעֲשׁ֖וּ מ֥וֹסְדֵי אָֽרֶץ׃ Isaiah Isa 24:18 Und ob einer entflöhe vor dem Geschrei des Schreckens, so wird er doch in die Grube fallen; kommt er aus der Grube, so wird er doch im Strick gefangen werden.
