Today's Date: ======= Hebrews 4:1 ============ Heb 4:1 Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it.(nas) Heb 4:1 φοβηθῶμεν οὗν μήποτε καταλειπομένης ἐπαγγελίας εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσιν αὐτοῦ δοκῇ τις ἐξ ὑμῶν ὑστερηκέναι· (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:1 Timeamus ergo ne forte relicta pollicitatione introëundi in requiem ejus, existimetur aliquis ex vobis deesse.(vulgate) עַל־כֵּן בְּהִוָּתֵר לָנוּ הַהַבְטָחָה לָבֹא אֶל־מְנוּחָתוֹ נִדְאַג לְנַפְשֵׁנוּ פֶּן־יֵחָשֵׁב אִישׁ מִכֶּם כִּמְאַחֵר לָבֹא שָׁמָּה׃ א Hebrews Heb 4:1 So lasset uns nun fürchten, daß wir die Verheißung, einzukommen zu seiner Ruhe, nicht versäumen und unser keiner dahinten bleibe.(dhs) Heb 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:2 ============ Heb 4:2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard.(nas) Heb 4:2 καὶ γάρ ἐσμεν εὐηγγελισμένοι καθάπερ κἀκεῖνοι, ἀλλ᾽ οὐκ ὠφέλησεν ὁ λόγος τῆς ἀκοῆς ἐκείνους, μὴ συγκεκερασμένους τῇ πίστει τοῖς ἀκούσασιν. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:2 Etenim et nobis nuntiatum est, quemadmodum et illis: sed non profuit illis sermo auditus, non admistus fidei ex iis quæ audierunt.(vulgate) כִּי בְשׂרָה טוֹבָה בָּאָה גַּם־אֵלֵינוּ גַּם־אֲלֵיהֶם אַךְ הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר שָׁמְעוּ הֵם לֹא־הוֹעִיל לָהֶם כִּי לֹא הִתְעָרַב בֶּאֱמוּנַת לִבָּם׃ ב Hebrews Heb 4:2 Denn es ist uns auch verkündigt gleichwie jenen; aber das Wort der Predigt half jenen nichts, da nicht glaubten die, so es hörten.(dhs) Heb 4:2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:3 ============ Heb 4:3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, "AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST," although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.(nas) Heb 4:3 εἰσερχόμεθα γὰρ εἰς [τὴν] κατάπαυσιν οἱ πιστεύσαντες, καθὼς εἴρηκεν, ὡς ὤμοσα ἐν τῇ ὀργῇ μου, εἰ εἰσελεύσονται εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσίν μου, καίτοι τῶν ἔργων ἀπὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου γενηθέντων. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:3 Ingrediemur enim in requiem, qui credidimus: quemadmodum dixit: Sicut juravi in ira mea: Si introibunt in requiem meam: et quidem operibus ab institutione mundi perfectis.(vulgate) כִּי אֲנַחְנוּ הַמַּאֲמִינִים בָּאִים אֶל־מְנוּחָתוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר אָמָר אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי בְאַפִּי אִם־יְבֹאוּן אֶל־מְנוּחָתִי וּמְנוּחָה זוּ הִיא מִן־הַמְּלָאכָה אֲשֶׁר נֶעֶשְׂתָה בְּהִוָּסֵד אֶרֶץ וְשָׁמָיִם׃ ג Hebrews Heb 4:3 Denn wir, die wir glauben, gehen in die Ruhe, wie er spricht: "Daß ich schwur in meinem Zorn, sie sollten zu meiner Ruhe nicht kommen." Und zwar, da die Werke von Anbeginn der Welt gemacht waren,(dhs) Heb 4:3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest,' " although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:4 ============ Heb 4:4 For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: "AND GOD RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS";(nas) Heb 4:4 εἴρηκεν γάρ που περὶ τῆς ἑβδόμης οὕτως, καὶ κατέπαυσεν ὁ θεὸς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἔργων αὐτοῦ· (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:4 Dixit enim in quodam loco de die septima sic: Et requievit Deus die septima ab omnibus operibus suis.(vulgate) כִּי עַל־יוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי אֹמֵר בְּמָקוֹם אַחֵר וַיִּשְׁבֹּת אֱלֹהִים בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי מִכָּל־מְלַאכְתּוֹ׃ ד Hebrews Heb 4:4 sprach er an einem Ort von dem siebenten Tag also: "Und Gott ruhte am siebenten Tage von allen seinen Werken;"(dhs) Heb 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works";(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:5 ============ Heb 4:5 and again in this passage, "THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST."(nas) Heb 4:5 καὶ ἐν τούτῳ πάλιν, εἰ εἰσελεύσονται εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσίν μου. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:5 Et in isto rursum: Si introibunt in requiem meam.(vulgate) וּבַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה יֹאמַר עוֹד אִם־יְבֹאוּן אֶל־מְנוּחָתִי׃ ה Hebrews Heb 4:5 und hier an diesem Ort abermals: "Sie sollen nicht kommen zu meiner Ruhe."(dhs) Heb 4:5 and again in this place: "They shall not enter My rest."(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:6 ============ Heb 4:6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience,(nas) Heb 4:6 ἐπεὶ οὗν ἀπολείπεται τινὰς εἰσελθεῖν εἰς αὐτήν, καὶ οἱ πρότερον εὐαγγελισθέντες οὐκ εἰσῆλθον δι᾽ ἀπείθειαν, (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:6 Quoniam ergo superest introire quosdam in illam, et ii, quibus prioribus annuntiatum est, non introierunt propter incredulitatem:(vulgate) הַיֹּצֵא לָנוּ מִכָּל־זֶה כִּי יֵשׁ בָּאִים אֶל־הַמְּנוּחָה וְהַשֹּׁמְעִים אֶת־בְּשׂרָה טוֹבָה מֵרֹאשׁ לֹא־בָאוּ מִפְּנֵי חֹסֶר אֱמוּנָתָם׃ ו Hebrews Heb 4:6 Nachdem es nun noch vorhanden ist, daß etliche sollen zu ihr kommen, und die, denen es zuerst verkündigt ist, sind nicht dazu gekommen um des Unglaubens willen,(dhs) Heb 4:6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience,(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:7 ============ Heb 4:7 He again fixes a certain day, "Today," saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS."(nas) Heb 4:7 πάλιν τινὰ ὁρίζει ἡμέραν, σήμερον, ἐν δαυὶδ λέγων μετὰ τοσοῦτον χρόνον, καθὼς προείρηται, σήμερον ἐὰν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκούσητε, μὴ σκληρύνητε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:7 iterum terminat diem quemdam, Hodie, in David dicendo, post tantum temporis, sicut supra dictum est: Hodie si vocem ejus audieritis, nolite obdurare corda vestra.(vulgate) וּלְקֵץ יָמִים רַבִּים הוֹסִיף וְיָעַד יוֹם אַחֵר בְּאָמְרוֹ עַל־פִּי דָוִד הַיּוֹם כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר הַיּוֹם אִם־בְּקֹלוֹ תִשְׁמָעוּ אַל־תַּקְשׁוּ לְבַבְכֶם׃ ז Hebrews Heb 4:7 bestimmt er abermals einen Tag nach solcher langen Zeit und sagt durch David: "Heute," wie gesagt ist, "so ihr seine Stimme hören werdet, so verstocket eure Herzen nicht."(dhs) Heb 4:7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after such a long time, as it has been said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts."(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:8 ============ Heb 4:8 For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.(nas) Heb 4:8 εἰ γὰρ αὐτοὺς ἰησοῦς κατέπαυσεν, οὐκ ἂν περὶ ἄλλης ἐλάλει μετὰ ταῦτα ἡμέρας. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:8 Nam si eis Jesus requiem præstitisset, numquam de alia loqueretur, posthac, die.(vulgate) כִּי אִלּוּ הֵבִיאָם יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶל־הַמְּנוּחָה הַנְּכוֹנָה לֹא הָיָה מְדַבֵּר אַחֲרֵי־כֵן עַל־יוֹם אַחֵר׃ ח Hebrews Heb 4:8 Denn so Josua hätte sie zur Ruhe gebracht, würde er nicht hernach von einem andern Tage gesagt haben.(dhs) Heb 4:8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:9 ============ Heb 4:9 So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.(nas) Heb 4:9 ἄρα ἀπολείπεται σαββατισμὸς τῶ λαῶ τοῦ θεοῦ· (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:9 Itaque relinquitur sabbatismus populo Dei.(vulgate) וְלָכֵן עוֹד נִשְׁאַר יוֹם שַׁבָּתוֹן לְעַם אֱלֹהִים׃ ט Hebrews Heb 4:9 Darum ist noch eine Ruhe vorhanden dem Volke Gottes.(dhs) Heb 4:9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:10 ============ Heb 4:10 For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.(nas) Heb 4:10 ὁ γὰρ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτὸς κατέπαυσεν ἀπὸ τῶν ἔργων αὐτοῦ ὥσπερ ἀπὸ τῶν ἰδίων ὁ θεός. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:10 Qui enim ingressus est in requiem ejus, etiam ipse requievit ab operibus suis, sicut a suis Deus.(vulgate) כִּי הַבָּא אֶל־מְנוּחָתוֹ יִשְׁבֹּת מִמְּלַאכְתּוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר גַּם־שָׁבַת אֱלֹהִים מִמְּלַאכְתּוֹ שֶׁלּוֹ׃ י Hebrews Heb 4:10 Denn wer zu seiner Ruhe gekommen ist, der ruht auch von seinen Werken gleichwie Gott von seinen.(dhs) Heb 4:10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:11 ============ Heb 4:11 Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.(nas) Heb 4:11 σπουδάσωμεν οὗν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς ἐκείνην τὴν κατάπαυσιν, ἵνα μὴ ἐν τῶ αὐτῶ τις ὑποδείγματι πέσῃ τῆς ἀπειθείας. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:11 Festinemus ergo ingredi in illam requiem: ut ne in idipsum quis incidat incredulitatis exemplum.(vulgate) לָכֵן נִתְאַמְּצָה לָבֹא אֶל־הַמְּנוּחָה הַהִיא פֶּן־יִכָּשֶׁל אִישׁ בְּלֶכְתּוֹ בְּעִקְּבוֹת הַמַמְרִים׃ יא Hebrews Heb 4:11 So lasset uns nun Fleiß tun, einzukommen zu dieser Ruhe, auf daß nicht jemand falle in dasselbe Beispiel des Unglaubens.(dhs) Heb 4:11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:12 ============ Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.(nas) Heb 4:12 ζῶν γὰρ ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐνεργὴς καὶ τομώτερος ὑπὲρ πᾶσαν μάχαιραν δίστομον καὶ διϊκνούμενος ἄχρι μερισμοῦ ψυχῆς καὶ πνεύματος, ἁρμῶν τε καὶ μυελῶν, καὶ κριτικὸς ἐνθυμήσεων καὶ ἐννοιῶν καρδίας· (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:12 Vivus est enim sermo Dei, et efficax et penetrabilior omni gladio ancipiti: et pertingens usque ad divisionem animæ ac spiritus: compagum quoque ac medullarum, et discretor cogitationum et intentionum cordis.(vulgate) כִּי־חַי דְּבַר אֱלֹהִים חָזָק וְחַד מִכָּל־חֶרֶב פִּיפִיּוֹת חֹצֵב וּבֹקֵעַ נֶפֶשׁ וָרוּחַ גַּם־מֹחַ וַעֲצָמוֹת וּבֹחֵן מַחְשְׁבוֹת לֵב וְיִצְרוֹ׃ יב Hebrews Heb 4:12 Denn das Wort Gottes ist lebendig und kräftig und schärfer denn kein zweischneidig Schwert, und dringt durch, bis daß es scheidet Seele und Geist, auch Mark und Bein, und ist ein Richter der Gedanken und Sinne des Herzens.(dhs) Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:13 ============ Heb 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.(nas) Heb 4:13 καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν κτίσις ἀφανὴς ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ, πάντα δὲ γυμνὰ καὶ τετραχηλισμένα τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ, πρὸς ὃν ἡμῖν ὁ λόγος. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:13 Et non est ulla creatura invisibilis in conspectu ejus: omnia autem nuda et aperta sunt oculis ejus, ad quem nobis sermo.~(vulgate) וְאֵין יְצוּר נֶעְלָם מִלְּפָנָיו אַךְ הַכֹּל חָשׂוּף וְגָלוּי לְעֵינֵי הַהוּא אֲשֶׁר עָלֵינוּ לָתֵת דִּין לְפָנָיו׃ יג Hebrews Heb 4:13 Und keine Kreatur ist vor ihm unsichtbar, es ist aber alles bloß und entdeckt vor seinen Augen. Von dem reden wir.(dhs) Heb 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:14 ============ Heb 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.(nas) Heb 4:14 ἔχοντες οὗν ἀρχιερέα μέγαν διεληλυθότα τοὺς οὐρανούς, ἰησοῦν τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ θεοῦ, κρατῶμεν τῆς ὁμολογίας· (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:14 Habentes ergo pontificem magnum qui penetravit cælos, Jesum Filium Dei, teneamus confessionem.(vulgate) וְעַתָּה בִּהְיוֹת־לָנוּ כֹהֵן גָּדוֹל נַעֲלֶה עַד־מְאֹד אֲשֶׁר צָלַח אֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִם יֵשׁוּעַ בֶּן־אֱלֹהִים נִשְׁמְרָה אֶת־הַשְּׁבוּעָה אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּעְנוּ לוֹ׃ יד Hebrews Heb 4:14 Dieweil wir denn einen großen Hohenpriester haben, Jesum, den Sohn Gottes, der gen Himmel gefahren ist, so lasset uns halten an dem Bekenntnis.(dhs) Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:15 ============ Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.(nas) Heb 4:15 οὐ γὰρ ἔχομεν ἀρχιερέα μὴ δυνάμενον συμπαθῆσαι ταῖς ἀσθενείαις ἡμῶν, πεπειρασμένον δὲ κατὰ πάντα καθ᾽ ὁμοιότητα χωρὶς ἁμαρτίας. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:15 Non enim habemus pontificem qui non possit compati infirmitatibus nostris: tentatum autem per omnia pro similitudine absque peccato.(vulgate) כִּי אֵין לָנוּ כֹהֵן גָּדוֹל אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יוּכַל לָחוּשׁ לְשִׁבְרֵנוּ אַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר גַּם־הוּא נִבְחַן בְּמַסּוֹת כָּמֹנוּ וְחֵטְא לֹא נִמְצָא־בוֹ׃ טו Hebrews Heb 4:15 Denn wir haben nicht einen Hohenpriester, der nicht könnte Mitleiden haben mit unsern Schwachheiten, sondern der versucht ist allenthalben gleichwie wir, doch ohne Sünde.(dhs) Heb 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 4:16 ============ Heb 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.(nas) Heb 4:16 προσερχώμεθα οὗν μετὰ παρρησίας τῶ θρόνῳ τῆς χάριτος, ἵνα λάβωμεν ἔλεος καὶ χάριν εὕρωμεν εἰς εὔκαιρον βοήθειαν. (Nestle-Aland) Heb 4:16 Adeamus ergo cum fiducia ad thronum gratiæ: ut misericordiam consequamur, et gratiam inveniamus in auxilio opportuno.(vulgate) עַל־כֵּן נִגְּשָׁה בְּפֶה מָלֵא אֶל־כִּסֵּא הָרַחֲמִים לָקַחַת חֶסֶד וְלִמְצֹא חֲנִינָה לַעֲזָר־לָנוּ לְעִתּוֹת בַּצָּרָה׃ טז Hebrews Heb 4:16 Darum laßt uns hinzutreten mit Freudigkeit zu dem Gnadenstuhl, auf daß wir Barmherzigkeit empfangen und Gnade finden auf die Zeit, wenn uns Hilfe not sein wird.(dhs) Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:1 ============ top of the page
