So he went to a bare hill.(nas) Num 23:3 καὶ εἶπεν Βαλααμ πρὸς Βαλακ παράστηθι ἐπὶ τῆς θυσίας σου καὶ πορεύσομαι εἴ μοι φανεῖται ὁ θεὸς ἐν συναντήσει καὶ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐάν μοι δείξῃ ἀναγγελῶ σοι καὶ παρέστη Βαλακ ἐπὶ τῆς θυσίας αὐτοῦ καὶ Βαλααμ ἐπορεύθη ἐπερωτῆσαι τὸν θεὸν καὶ ἐπορεύθη εὐθεῖαν (lxx) Num 23:3 Dixitque Balaam ad Balac: Sta paulisper juxta holocaustum tuum, donec vadam, si forte occurrat mihi Dominus, et quodcumque imperaverit, loquar tibi.(vulgate) Numbers 23:3 Then Balaam sayde vnto Balak, Stande by the burnt offring, and I will goe, if so be that the Lorde will come and meete me: and whatsoeuer he sheweth me, I will tell thee: so he went forth alone.(Geneva) Num 23:3 Und Bileam sprach zu Balak: Tritt zu deinem Brandopfer; ich will hingehen, ob vielleicht mir der HERR begegne, daß ich dir ansage, was er mir zeigt. Und ging hin eilend.(dhs) Num 23:3 Then Balaam said to Balak, "Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go; perhaps the Lord will come to meet me, and whatever He shows me I will tell you." So he went to a desolate height.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:4 ============ Num 23:4 Now God met Balaam, and he said to Him, "I have set up the seven altars, and I have offered up a bull and a ram on each altar."(nas) Num 23:4 καὶ ἐφάνη ὁ θεὸς τῷ Βαλααμ καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Βαλααμ τοὺς ἑπτὰ βωμοὺς ἡτοίμασα καὶ ἀνεβίβασα μόσχον καὶ κριὸν ἐπὶ τὸν βωμόν (lxx) Num 23:4 Cumque abiisset velociter, occurrit illi Deus. Locutusque ad eum Balaam: Septem, inquit, aras erexi, et imposui vitulum et arietem desuper.(vulgate) Numbers 23:4 And God met Balaam, and Balaam sayd vnto him, I haue prepared seuen altars, and haue offred vpon euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.(Geneva) Num 23:4 Und Gott begegnete Bileam; er aber sprach zu ihm: Sieben Altäre habe ich zugerichtet und je auf einem Altar einen Farren und einen Widder geopfert.(dhs) Num 23:4 And God met Balaam, and he said to Him, "I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered on each altar a bull and a ram.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:5 ============ Num 23:5 Then the Lord put a word in Balaam's mouth and said, "Return to Balak, and you shall speak thus."(nas) Num 23:5 καὶ ἐνέβαλεν ὁ θεὸς ῥῆμα εἰς τὸ στόμα Βαλααμ καὶ εἶπεν ἐπιστραφεὶς πρὸς Βαλακ οὕτως λαλήσεις (lxx) Num 23:5 Dominus autem posuit verbum in ore ejus, et ait: Revertere ad Balac, et hæc loqueris.(vulgate) Numbers 23:5 And the Lord put an answere in Balaams mouth, and sayde, Go againe to Balak, and say on this wise.(Geneva) Num 23:5 Der HERR aber gab das Wort dem Bileam in den Mund und sprach: Gehe wieder zu Balak und rede also.(dhs) Num 23:5 Then the Lord put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, "Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:6 ============ Num 23:6 So he returned to him, and behold, he was standing beside his burnt offering, he and all the leaders of Moab.(nas) Num 23:6 καὶ ἀπεστράφη πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ ὅδε ἐφειστήκει ἐπὶ τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες Μωαβ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Num 23:6 Reversus invenit stantem Balac juxta holocaustum suum, et omnes principes Moabitarum:(vulgate) Numbers 23:6 So when he returned vnto him, loe, hee stoode by his burnt offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.(Geneva) Num 23:6 Und da er wieder zu ihm kam, siehe, da stand er bei dem Brandopfer samt allen Fürsten der Moabiter.(dhs) Num 23:6 So he returned to him, and there he was, standing by his burnt offering, he and all the princes of Moab.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:7 ============ Num 23:7 He took up his discourse and said, "From Aram Balak has brought me, Moab's king from the mountains of the East,' Come curse Jacob for me, And come, denounce Israel!' (nas) Num 23:7 καὶ ἐγενήθη πνεῦμα θεοῦ ἐπ᾽ αὐτῷ καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν ἐκ Μεσοποταμίας μετεπέμψατό με Βαλακ βασιλεὺς Μωαβ ἐξ ὀρέων ἀπ᾽ ἀνατολῶν λέγων δεῦρο ἄρασαί μοι τὸν Ιακωβ καὶ δεῦρο ἐπικατάρασαί μοι τὸν Ισραηλ (lxx) Num 23:7 assumptaque parabola sua, dixit: [De Aram adduxit me Balac rex Moabitarum, de montibus orientis: Veni, inquit, et maledic Jacob; propera, et detestare Israël.(vulgate) Numbers 23:7 Then he vttered his parable, and sayde, Balak the king of Moab hath brought mee from Aram out of the mountaines of the East, saying, Come, curse Iaakob for my sake: come, and detest Israel.(Geneva) Num 23:7 Da hob er an seinen Spruch und sprach: Aus Syrien hat mich Balak, der Moabiter König, holen lassen von dem Gebirge gegen Aufgang: Komm, verfluche mir Jakob! komm schilt Israel!(dhs) Num 23:7 And he took up his oracle and said: "Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, From the mountains of the east. And how can I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced?(nas) Num 23:8 τί ἀράσωμαι ὃν μὴ καταρᾶται κύριος ἢ τί καταράσωμαι ὃν μὴ καταρᾶται ὁ θεός (lxx) Num 23:8 Quomodo maledicam, cui non maledixit Deus? qua ratione detester, quem Dominus non detestatur?(vulgate) Numbers 23:8 How shal I curse, where God hath not cursed? or howe shall I detest, where the Lorde hath not detested?(Geneva) Num 23:8 Wie soll ich fluchen, dem Gott nicht flucht? Wie soll ich schelten, den der HERR nicht schilt?(dhs) Num 23:8 "How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced?(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:9 ============ Num 23:9 "As I see him from the top of the rocks, And I look at him from the hills; Behold, a people who dwells apart, And will not be reckoned among the nations.(nas) Num 23:9 ὅτι ἀπὸ κορυφῆς ὀρέων ὄψομαι αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπὸ βουνῶν προσνοήσω αὐτόν ἰδοὺ λαὸς μόνος κατοικήσει καὶ ἐν ἔθνεσιν οὐ συλλογισθήσεται (lxx) Num 23:9 De summis silicibus videbo eum, et de collibus considerabo illum. Populus solus habitabit, et inter gentes non reputabitur.(vulgate) Numbers 23:9 For from the top of the rocks I did see him, and from the hils I did beholde him: lo, the people shal dwell by themselues, and shal not be reckened among the nations.(Geneva) Num 23:9 Denn von der Höhe der Felsen sehe ich ihn wohl, und von den Hügeln schaue ich ihn. Moriatur anima mea morte justorum, et fiant novissima mea horum similia.]~(vulgate) Numbers 23:10 Who can tell the dust of Iaakob, and the nomber of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last ende be like his.(Geneva) Num 23:10 Wer kann zählen den Staub Jakobs und die Zahl des vierten Teils Israels? I took you to curse my enemies, but behold, you have actually blessed them!"(nas) Num 23:11 καὶ εἶπεν Βαλακ πρὸς Βαλααμ τί πεποίηκάς μοι εἰς κατάρασιν ἐχθρῶν μου κέκληκά σε καὶ ἰδοὺ εὐλόγηκας εὐλογίαν (lxx) Num 23:11 Dixitque Balac ad Balaam: Quid est hoc quod agis? ut malediceres inimicis meis vocavi te, et tu e contrario benedicis eis.(vulgate) Numbers 23:11 Then Balak saide vnto Balaam, What hast thou done vnto mee? I tooke thee to curse mine enemies, and beholde, thou hast blessed them altogether.(Geneva) Num 23:11 Da sprach Balak zu Bileam: Was tust du an mir? Ich habe dich holen lassen, zu fluchen meinen Feinden; und siehe, du segnest.(dhs) Num 23:11 Then Balak said to Balaam, "What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies, and look, you have blessed them bountifully!"(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:12 ============ Num 23:12 He replied, "Must I not be careful to speak what the Lord puts in my mouth?"(nas) Num 23:12 καὶ εἶπεν Βαλααμ πρὸς Βαλακ οὐχὶ ὅσα ἐὰν ἐμβάλῃ ὁ θεὸς εἰς τὸ στόμα μου τοῦτο φυλάξω λαλῆσαι (lxx) Num 23:12 Cui ille respondit: Num aliud possum loqui, nisi quod jusserit Dominus?(vulgate) Numbers 23:12 And he answered, and said, Must I not take heede to speake that, which the Lord hath put in my mouth?(Geneva) Num 23:12 Er antwortete und sprach: Muß ich das nicht halten und reden, was mir der HERR in den Mund gibt?(dhs) Num 23:12 So he answered and said, "Must I not take heed to speak what the Lord has put in my mouth?"(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:13 ============ Num 23:13 Then Balak said to him, "Please come with me to another place from where you may see them, although you will only see the extreme end of them and will not see all of them; and curse them for me from there."(nas) Num 23:13 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Βαλακ δεῦρο ἔτι μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ εἰς τόπον ἄλλον ἐξ ὧν οὐκ ὄψῃ αὐτὸν ἐκεῖθεν ἀλλ᾽ ἢ μέρος τι αὐτοῦ ὄψῃ πάντας δὲ οὐ μὴ ἴδῃς καὶ κατάρασαί μοι αὐτὸν ἐκεῖθεν (lxx) Num 23:13 Dixit ergo Balac: Veni mecum in alterum locum unde partem Israël videas, et totum videre non possis: inde maledicito ei.(vulgate) Numbers 23:13 And Balak sayde vnto him, Come, I pray thee, with mee vnto another place, whence thou mayest see them, & thou shalt see but the vtmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: therefore curse them out of that place for my sake.(Geneva) Num 23:13 Balak sprach zu ihm: Komm doch mit mir an einen andern Ort, von wo du nur sein Ende sehest und es nicht ganz sehest, und fluche mir ihm daselbst.(dhs) Num 23:13 Then Balak said to him, "Please come with me to another place from which you may see them; you shall see only the outer part of them, and shall not see them all; curse them for me from there."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:14 ============ Num 23:14 So he took him to the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.(nas) Num 23:14 καὶ παρέλαβεν αὐτὸν εἰς ἀγροῦ σκοπιὰν ἐπὶ κορυφὴν λελαξευμένου καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ ἑπτὰ βωμοὺς καὶ ἀνεβίβασεν μόσχον καὶ κριὸν ἐπὶ τὸν βωμόν (lxx) Num 23:14 Cumque duxisset eum in locum sublimem, super verticem montis Phasga, ædificavit Balaam septem aras, et impositis supra vitulo atque ariete,(vulgate) Numbers 23:14 And he brought him into Sede-sophim to the top of Pisgah, and built seuen altars, and offred a bullocke, and a ramme on euery altar.(Geneva) Num 23:14 Und er führte ihn auf einen freien Platz auf der Höhe Pisga und baute sieben Altäre und opferte je auf einem Altar einen Farren und einen Widder.(dhs) Num 23:14 So he brought him to the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bull and a ram on each altar(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:15 ============ Num 23:15 And he said to Balak, "Stand here beside your burnt offering while I myself meet the Lord over there."(nas) Num 23:15 καὶ εἶπεν Βαλααμ πρὸς Βαλακ παράστηθι ἐπὶ τῆς θυσίας σου ἐγὼ δὲ πορεύσομαι ἐπερωτῆσαι τὸν θεόν (lxx) Num 23:15 dixit ad Balac: Sta hic juxta holocaustum tuum, donec ego obvius pergam.(vulgate) Numbers 23:15 After, he sayde vnto Balak, Stande here by thy burnt offring, & I wil meete the Lord yonder.(Geneva) Num 23:15 Und (Bileam) sprach zu Balak: Tritt her zu deinem Brandopfer; ich will dort warten.(dhs) Num 23:15 And he said to Balak, "Stand here by your burnt offering while I meet the Lord over there."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:16 ============ Num 23:16 Then the Lord met Balaam and put a word in his mouth and said, "Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak."(nas) Num 23:16 καὶ συνήντησεν ὁ θεὸς τῷ Βαλααμ καὶ ἐνέβαλεν ῥῆμα εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν ἀποστράφητι πρὸς Βαλακ καὶ τάδε λαλήσεις (lxx) Num 23:16 Cui cum Dominus occurrisset, posuissetque verbum in ore ejus, ait: Revertere ad Balac, et hæc loqueris ei.(vulgate) Numbers 23:16 And the Lord mette Balaam, and put an answere in his mouth, and sayd, Goe againe vnto Balak, and say thus.(Geneva) Num 23:16 Und der HERR begegnete Bileam und gab ihm das Wort in seinen Mund und sprach: Gehe wieder zu Balak und rede also.(dhs) Num 23:16 Then the Lord met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, "Go back to Balak, and thus you shall speak."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:17 ============ Num 23:17 He came to him, and behold, he was standing beside his burnt offering, and the leaders of Moab with him. And Balak said to him, "What has the Lord spoken?"(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:18 ============ Num 23:18 Then he took up his discourse and said, "Arise, O Balak, and hear; Give ear to me, O son of Zippor!(nas) Num 23:18 καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν ἀνάστηθι Βαλακ καὶ ἄκουε ἐνώτισαι μάρτυς υἱὸς Σεπφωρ (lxx) Num 23:18 At ille, assumpta parabola sua, ait: [Sta, Balac, et ausculta; audi, fili Sephor:(vulgate) Numbers 23:18 And he vttered his parable, and sayde, Rise vp, Balak, and heare: hearken vnto me, thou sonne of Zippor.(Geneva) Num 23:18 Und er hob an seinen Spruch und sprach: Stehe auf, Balak, und höre! nimm zu Ohren was ich sage, du Sohn Zippors!(dhs) Num 23:18 Then he took up his oracle and said: "Rise up, Balak, and hear! Listen to me, son of Zippor!(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:19 ============ Num 23:19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?(nas) Num 23:19 οὐχ ὡς ἄνθρωπος ὁ θεὸς διαρτηθῆναι οὐδὲ ὡς υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου ἀπειληθῆναι αὐτὸς εἴπας οὐχὶ ποιήσει λαλήσει καὶ οὐχὶ ἐμμενεῖ (lxx) Num 23:19 non est Deus quasi homo, ut mentiatur, nec ut filius hominis, ut mutetur. Dixit ergo, et non faciet? locutus est, et non implebit?(vulgate) Numbers 23:19 God is not as man, that he should lie, neither as the sonne of man that he shoulde repent: hath he sayde and shal he not do it? and hath he spoken, and shal he not accomplish it?(Geneva) Num 23:19 Gott ist nicht ein Mensch, daß er lüge, noch ein Menschenkind, daß ihn etwas gereue. Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:20 ============ Num 23:20 "Behold, I have received a command to bless; When He has blessed, then I cannot revoke it.(nas) Num 23:20 ἰδοὺ εὐλογεῖν παρείλημμαι εὐλογήσω καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποστρέψω (lxx) Num 23:20 Ad benedicendum adductus sum: benedictionem prohibere non valeo.(vulgate) Numbers 23:20 Behold, I haue receiued commandement to blesse: for he hath blessed, and I cannot alter it.(Geneva) Num 23:20 Siehe, zu segnen bin ich hergebracht; er segnet, und ich kann's nicht wenden.(dhs) Num 23:20 Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 23:21 ============ Num 23:21 "He has not observed misfortune in Jacob; Nor has He seen trouble in Israel; The Lord his God is with him, And the shout of a king is among them.(nas) Num 23:21 οὐκ ἔσται μόχθος ἐν Ιακωβ οὐδὲ ὀφθήσεται πόνος ἐν Ισραηλ κύριος ὁ θεὸς αὐτοῦ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ τὰ ἔνδοξα ἀρχόντων ἐν αὐτῷ (lxx) Num 23:21 Non est idolum in Jacob, nec videtur simulacrum in Israël. Dominus Deus ejus cum eo est, et clangor victoriæ regis in illo.(vulgate) Numbers 23:21 Hee seeth none iniquitie in Iaakob, nor seeth no transgression in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the ioyfull shoute of a king is among them.(Geneva) Num 23:21 Man sieht keine Mühe in Jakob und keine Arbeit in Israel.
