And Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time.(nas) Num 22:4 καὶ εἶπεν Μωαβ τῇ γερουσίᾳ Μαδιαμ νῦν ἐκλείξει ἡ συναγωγὴ αὕτη πάντας τοὺς κύκλῳ ἡμῶν ὡς ἐκλείξαι ὁ μόσχος τὰ χλωρὰ ἐκ τοῦ πεδίου καὶ Βαλακ υἱὸς Σεπφωρ βασιλεὺς Μωαβ ἦν κατὰ τὸν καιρὸν ἐκεῖνον (lxx) Num 22:4 dixit ad majores natu Madian: Ita delebit hic populus omnes, qui in nostris finibus commorantur, quomodo solet bos herbas usque ad radices carpere. Ipse erat eo tempore rex in Moab.(vulgate) Numbers 22:4 Therfore Moab said vnto the Elders of Midian, Nowe shall this multitude licke vp all that are round about vs, as an oxe licketh vp ye grasse of the fielde: and Balak the sonne of Zippor was King of the Moabites at that time.(Geneva) Num 22:4 und sie sprachen zu den Ältesten der Midianiter: Nun wird dieser Haufe auffressen, was um uns ist, wie ein Ochse Kraut auf dem Felde auffrißt. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:5 ============ Num 22:5 So he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor, at Pethor, which is near the River, in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying, "Behold, a people came out of Egypt; behold, they cover the surface of the land, and they are living opposite me.(nas) Num 22:5 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν πρέσβεις πρὸς Βαλααμ υἱὸν Βεωρ Φαθουρα ὅ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τοῦ ποταμοῦ γῆς υἱῶν λαοῦ αὐτοῦ καλέσαι αὐτὸν λέγων ἰδοὺ λαὸς ἐξελήλυθεν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἰδοὺ κατεκάλυψεν τὴν ὄψιν τῆς γῆς καὶ οὗτος ἐγκάθηται ἐχόμενός μου (lxx) Num 22:5 Misit ergo nuntios ad Balaam filium Beor ariolum, qui habitabat super flumen terræ filiorum Ammon, ut vocarent eum, et dicerent: Ecce egressus est populus ex Ægypto, qui operuit superficiem terræ, sedens contra me.(vulgate) Numbers 22:5 Hee sent messengers therefore vnto Balaam the sonne of Beor to Pethor (which is by the riuer of the lande of the children of his folke) to call him, saying, Beholde, there is a people come out of Egypt, which couer the face of the earth, and lye ouer against me.(Geneva) Num 22:5 Und er sandte Boten aus zu Bileam, dem Sohn Beors, gen Pethor, der wohnte an dem Strom im Lande der Kinder seines Volks, daß sie ihn forderten, und ließ ihm sagen: Siehe, es ist ein Volk aus Ägypten gezogen, das bedeckt das Angesicht der Erde und liegt mir gegenüber.(dhs) Num 22:5 Then he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at Pethor, which is near the River in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying: "Look, a people has come from Egypt. See, they cover the face of the earth, and are settling next to me!(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:6 ============ Num 22:6 Now, therefore, please come, curse this people for me since they are too mighty for me; perhaps I may be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed."(nas) Num 22:6 καὶ νῦν δεῦρο ἄρασαί μοι τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον ὅτι ἰσχύει οὗτος ἢ ἡμεῖς ἐὰν δυνώμεθα πατάξαι ἐξ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκβαλῶ αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῆς γῆς ὅτι οἶδα οὓς ἐὰν εὐλογήσῃς σύ εὐλόγηνται καὶ οὓς ἐὰν καταράσῃ σύ κεκατήρανται (lxx) Num 22:6 Veni igitur, et maledic populo huic, quia fortior me est: si quomodo possim percutere et ejicere eum de terra mea. Novi enim quod benedictus sit cui benedixeris, et maledictus in quem maledicta congesseris.(vulgate) Numbers 22:6 Come now therefore, I pray thee, and curse me this people (for they are stronger then I) so it may be that I shall be able to smite them, and to driue them out of the land: for I knowe that hee, whome thou blessest, is blessed, and he whom thou cursest, shall be cursed.(Geneva) Num 22:6 So komm nun und verfluche mir das Volk (denn es ist mir zu mächtig), ob ich's schlagen möchte und aus dem Lande vertreiben; denn ich weiß, daß, welchen du segnest, der ist gesegnet, und welchen du verfluchst, der ist verflucht.(dhs) Num 22:6 Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:7 ============ Num 22:7 So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the fees for divination in their hand; and they came to Balaam and repeated Balak's words to him.(nas) Num 22:7 καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἡ γερουσία Μωαβ καὶ ἡ γερουσία Μαδιαμ καὶ τὰ μαντεῖα ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῶν καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς Βαλααμ καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ τὰ ῥήματα Βαλακ (lxx) Num 22:7 Perrexeruntque seniores Moab, et majores natu Madian, habentes divinationis pretium in manibus. Cumque venissent ad Balaam, et narrassent ei omnia verba Balac,(vulgate) Numbers 22:7 And the Elders of Moab, and the Elders of Midian departed, hauing the reward of the soothsaying in their hande, and they came vnto Balaam, and tolde him the wordes of Balak.(Geneva) Num 22:7 Und die Ältesten der Moabiter gingen hin mit den Ältesten der Midianiter und hatten den Lohn des Wahrsagers in ihren Händen und kamen zu Bileam und sagten ihm die Worte Balaks.(dhs) Num 22:7 So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the diviner's fee in their hand, and they came to Balaam and spoke to him the words of Balak.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:8 ============ Num 22:8 He said to them, "Spend the night here, and I will bring word back to you as the Lord may speak to me." And the leaders of Moab stayed with Balaam.(nas) Num 22:8 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς καταλύσατε αὐτοῦ τὴν νύκτα καὶ ἀποκριθήσομαι ὑμῖν πράγματα ἃ ἐὰν λαλήσῃ κύριος πρός με καὶ κατέμειναν οἱ ἄρχοντες Μωαβ παρὰ Βαλααμ (lxx) Num 22:8 ille respondit: Manete hic nocte, et respondebo quidquid mihi dixerit Dominus. Manentibus illis apud Balaam, venit Deus, et ait ad eum:(vulgate) Numbers 22:8 Who answered them, Tary here this night, and I will giue you an answere, as the Lorde shall say vnto mee. So the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.(Geneva) Num 22:8 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Bleibt hier über Nacht, so will ich euch wieder sagen, wie mir der HERR sagen wird. Also blieben die Fürsten der Moabiter bei Bileam.(dhs) Num 22:8 And he said to them, "Lodge here tonight, and I will bring back word to you, as the Lord speaks to me." So the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:9 ============ Num 22:9 Then God came to Balaam and said, "Who are these men with you?"(nas) Num 22:9 καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Βαλααμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τί οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι παρὰ σοί (lxx) Num 22:9 Quid sibi volunt homines isti apud te?(vulgate) Numbers 22:9 Then God came vnto Balaam, and sayde, What men are these with thee?(Geneva) Num 22:9 Und Gott kam zu Bileam und sprach: Wer sind die Leute, die bei dir sind?(dhs) Num 22:9 Then God came to Balaam and said, "Who are these men with you?"(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:10 ============ Num 22:10 Balaam said to God, "Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent word to me,(nas) Num 22:10 καὶ εἶπεν Βαλααμ πρὸς τὸν θεόν Βαλακ υἱὸς Σεπφωρ βασιλεὺς Μωαβ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς πρός με λέγων (lxx) Num 22:10 Respondit: Balac filius Sephor rex Moabitarum misit ad me,(vulgate) Numbers 22:10 And Baalam said vnto God, Balak ye sonne of Zippor, king of Moab hath set vnto me, saying,(Geneva) Num 22:10 Bileam sprach zu Gott: Balak, der Sohn Zippors, der Moabiter König, hat zu mir gesandt:(dhs) Num 22:10 So Balaam said to God, "Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent to me, saying,(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:11 ============ Num 22:11 'Behold, there is a people who came out of Egypt and they cover the surface of the land; now come, curse them for me; perhaps I may be able to fight against them and drive them out.'"(nas) Num 22:11 ἰδοὺ λαὸς ἐξελήλυθεν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἰδοὺ κεκάλυφεν τὴν ὄψιν τῆς γῆς καὶ οὗτος ἐγκάθηται ἐχόμενός μου καὶ νῦν δεῦρο ἄρασαί μοι αὐτόν εἰ ἄρα δυνήσομαι πατάξαι αὐτὸν καὶ ἐκβαλῶ αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς (lxx) Num 22:11 dicens: Ecce populus qui egressus est de Ægypto, operuit superficiem terræ: veni, et maledic ei, si quomodo possim pugnans abigere eum.(vulgate) Numbers 22:11 Beholde, there is a people come out of Egypt and couereth the face of the earth: come nowe, curse them for my sake: so it may be that I shalbe able to ouercome them in battell, and to driue them out.(Geneva) Num 22:11 Siehe, ein Volk ist aus Ägypten gezogen und bedeckt das Angesicht der Erde; so komm nun und fluche ihm, ob ich mit ihm streiten möge und sie vertreiben.(dhs) Num 22:11 'Look, a people has come out of Egypt, and they cover the face of the earth. "(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:12 ============ Num 22:12 God said to Balaam, "Do not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed."(nas) Num 22:12 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Βαλααμ οὐ πορεύσῃ μετ᾽ αὐτῶν οὐδὲ καταράσῃ τὸν λαόν ἔστιν γὰρ εὐλογημένος (lxx) Num 22:12 Dixitque Deus ad Balaam: Noli ire cum eis, neque maledicas populo: quia benedictus est.(vulgate) Numbers 22:12 And God said vnto Balaam, Go not thou with them, neither curse the people, for they are blessed.(Geneva) Num 22:12 Gott aber sprach zu Bileam: Gehe nicht mit ihnen, verfluche das Volk auch nicht; denn es ist gesegnet.(dhs) Num 22:12 And God said to Balaam, "You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:13 ============ Num 22:13 So Balaam arose in the morning and said to Balak's leaders, "Go back to your land, for the Lord has refused to let me go with you."(nas) Num 22:13 καὶ ἀναστὰς Βαλααμ τὸ πρωὶ εἶπεν τοῖς ἄρχουσιν Βαλακ ἀποτρέχετε πρὸς τὸν κύριον ὑμῶν οὐκ ἀφίησίν με ὁ θεὸς πορεύεσθαι μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν (lxx) Num 22:13 Qui mane consurgens dixit ad principes: Ite in terram vestram, quia prohibuit me Dominus venire vobiscum.(vulgate) Numbers 22:13 And Balaam rose vp in the morning, and sayde vnto ye princes of Balak, Returne vnto your land: for the Lord hath refused to giue me leaue to go with you.(Geneva) Num 22:13 Da stand Bileam des Morgens auf und sprach zu den Fürsten Balaks: Gehet hin in euer Land; denn der HERR will's nicht gestatten, daß ich mit euch ziehe.(dhs) Num 22:13 So Balaam rose in the morning and said to the princes of Balak, "Go back to your land, for the Lord has refused to give me permission to go with you."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:14 ============ Num 22:14 The leaders of Moab arose and went to Balak and said, "Balaam refused to come with us."(nas) Num 22:14 καὶ ἀναστάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες Μωαβ ἦλθον πρὸς Βαλακ καὶ εἶπαν οὐ θέλει Βαλααμ πορευθῆναι μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν (lxx) Num 22:14 Reversi principes dixerunt ad Balac: Noluit Balaam venire nobiscum.~(vulgate) Numbers 22:14 So the princes of Moab rose vp, and went vnto Balak, & sayd, Balaam hath refused to come with vs.(Geneva) Num 22:14 Und die Fürsten der Moabiter machten sich auf, kamen zu Balak und sprachen: Bileam weigert sich, mit uns zu ziehen.(dhs) Num 22:14 And the princes of Moab rose and went to Balak, and said, "Balaam refuses to come with us."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:15 ============ Num 22:15 Then Balak again sent leaders, more numerous and more distinguished than the former.(nas) Num 22:15 καὶ προσέθετο Βαλακ ἔτι ἀποστεῖλαι ἄρχοντας πλείους καὶ ἐντιμοτέρους τούτων (lxx) Num 22:15 Rursum ille multo plures et nobiliores quam ante miserat, misit.(vulgate) Numbers 22:15 Balak yet sent againe moe princes, and more honourable then they.(Geneva) Num 22:15 Da sandte Balak noch größere und herrlichere Fürsten, denn jene waren.(dhs) Num 22:15 Then Balak again sent princes, more numerous and more honorable than they.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:16 ============ Num 22:16 They came to Balaam and said to him, "Thus says Balak the son of Zippor, 'Let nothing, I beg you, hinder you from coming to me;(nas) Num 22:16 καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς Βαλααμ καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ τάδε λέγει Βαλακ ὁ τοῦ Σεπφωρ ἀξιῶ σε μὴ ὀκνήσῃς ἐλθεῖν πρός με (lxx) Num 22:16 Qui cum venissent ad Balaam, dixerunt: Sic dicit Balac filius Sephor: Ne cuncteris venire ad me:(vulgate) Numbers 22:16 Who came to Balaam, and sayde to him, Thus saith Balak the sonne of Zippor, Bee not thou staied, I pray thee, from coming vnto me.(Geneva) Num 22:16 Da die zu Bileam kamen, sprachen sie zu ihm: Also läßt dir sagen Balak, der Sohn Zippors: Wehre dich doch nicht, zu mir zu ziehen;(dhs) Num 22:16 And they came to Balaam and said to him, "Thus says Balak the son of Zippor: 'Please let nothing hinder you from coming to me;(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:17 ============ Num 22:17 for I will indeed honor you richly, and I will do whatever you say to me. Please come then, curse this people for me.'"(nas) Num 22:17 ἐντίμως γὰρ τιμήσω σε καὶ ὅσα ἐὰν εἴπῃς ποιήσω σοι καὶ δεῦρο ἐπικατάρασαί μοι τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον (lxx) Num 22:17 paratus sum honorare te, et quidquid volueris, dabo tibi: veni, et maledic populo isti.(vulgate) Numbers 22:17 For I wil promote thee vnto great honour, and wil do whatsoeuer thou sayest vnto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.(Geneva) Num 22:17 denn ich will dich hoch ehren, und was du mir sagst, das will ich tun; komm doch und fluche mir diesem Volk.(dhs) Num 22:17 for I will certainly honor you greatly, and I will do whatever you say to me. "(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:18 ============ Num 22:18 Balaam replied to the servants of Balak, "Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not do anything, either small or great, contrary to the command of the Lord my God.(nas) Num 22:18 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Βαλααμ καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς ἄρχουσιν Βαλακ ἐὰν δῷ μοι Βαλακ πλήρη τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ χρυσίου οὐ δυνήσομαι παραβῆναι τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ποιῆσαι αὐτὸ μικρὸν ἢ μέγα ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ μου (lxx) Num 22:18 Respondit Balaam: Si dederit mihi Balac plenam domum suam argenti et auri, non potero immutare verbum Domini Dei mei, ut vel plus, vel minus loquar.(vulgate) Numbers 22:18 And Balaam answered, and sayde vnto the seruants of Balak, If Balak woulde giue me his house full of siluer and golde, I can not goe beyonde the worde of the Lorde my God, to doe lesse or more.(Geneva) Num 22:18 Bileam antwortete und sprach zu den Dienern Balaks: Wenn mir Balak sein Haus voll Silber und Gold gäbe, so könnte ich doch nicht übertreten das Wort des HERRN, meines Gottes, Kleines oder Großes zu tun.(dhs) Num 22:18 Then Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, "Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:19 ============ Num 22:19 Now please, you also stay here tonight, and I will find out what else the Lord will speak to me."(nas) Num 22:19 καὶ νῦν ὑπομείνατε αὐτοῦ καὶ ὑμεῖς τὴν νύκτα ταύτην καὶ γνώσομαι τί προσθήσει κύριος λαλῆσαι πρός με (lxx) Num 22:19 Obsecro ut hic maneatis etiam hac nocte, et scire queam quid mihi rursum respondeat Dominus.(vulgate) Numbers 22:19 But nowe, I pray you, tary here this night, that I may wit, what the Lorde will say vnto mee more.(Geneva) Num 22:19 So bleibt doch nur hier auch ihr diese Nacht, daß ich erfahre, was der HERR weiter mit mir reden werde.(dhs) Num 22:19 Now therefore, please, you also stay here tonight, that I may know what more the Lord will say to me."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:20 ============ Num 22:20 God came to Balaam at night and said to him, "If the men have come to call you, rise up and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you shall you do."(nas) Num 22:20 καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Βαλααμ νυκτὸς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ εἰ καλέσαι σε πάρεισιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι ἀναστὰς ἀκολούθησον αὐτοῖς ἀλλὰ τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἂν λαλήσω πρὸς σέ τοῦτο ποιήσεις (lxx) Num 22:20 Venit ergo Deus ad Balaam nocte, et ait ei: Si vocare te venerunt homines isti, surge, et vade cum eis: ita dumtaxat, ut quod tibi præcepero, facias.(vulgate) Numbers 22:20 And God came vnto Balaam by night, and sayd vnto him, If the men come to call thee, rise vp, and goe with them: but onely what thing I say vnto thee, that shalt thou doe.(Geneva) Num 22:20 Da kam Gott des Nachts zu Bileam und sprach zu ihm: Sind die Männer gekommen, dich zu rufen, so mache dich auf und zieh mit ihnen; doch was ich dir sagen werde, das sollst du tun.(dhs) Num 22:20 And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, "If the men come to call you, rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you--that you shall do."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:21 ============ Num 22:21 So Balaam arose in the morning, and saddled his donkey and went with the leaders of Moab. (nas) Num 22:21 καὶ ἀναστὰς Βαλααμ τὸ πρωὶ ἐπέσαξεν τὴν ὄνον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπορεύθη μετὰ τῶν ἀρχόντων Μωαβ (lxx) Num 22:21 Surrexit Balaam mane, et strata asina sua profectus est cum eis.~(vulgate) Numbers 22:21 So Balaam rose vp early, and sadled his asse, and went with the princes of Moab.(Geneva) Num 22:21 Da stand Bileam des Morgens auf und sattelte seine Eselin und zog mit den Fürsten der Moabiter.(dhs) Num 22:21 So Balaam rose in the morning, saddled his donkey, and went with the princes of Moab.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:22 ============ Num 22:22 But God was angry because he was going, and the angel of the Lord took his stand in the way as an adversary against him. And he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:23 ============ Num 22:23 When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way with his drawn sword in his hand, the donkey turned off from the way and went into the field; but Balaam struck the donkey to turn her back into the way.(nas) Num 22:23 καὶ ἰδοῦσα ἡ ὄνος τὸν ἄγγελον τοῦ θεοῦ ἀνθεστηκότα ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ τὴν ῥομφαίαν ἐσπασμένην ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξέκλινεν ἡ ὄνος ἐκ τῆς ὁδοῦ καὶ ἐπορεύετο εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὴν ὄνον τῇ ῥάβδῳ τοῦ εὐθῦναι αὐτὴν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ (lxx) Num 22:23 Cernens asina angelum stantem in via, evaginato gladio, avertit se de itinere, et ibat per agrum. Quam cum verberaret Balaam, et vellet ad semitam reducere,(vulgate) Numbers 22:23 And when the asse saw the Angel of the Lord stand in the way, and his sworde drawen in his hand, the asse turned out of the way and went into the field, but Balaam smote the asse, to turne her into the way.(Geneva) Num 22:23 Und die Eselin sah den Engel des HERRN im Wege stehen und ein bloßes Schwert in seiner Hand. Und die Eselin wich aus dem Wege und ging auf dem Felde; Bileam aber schlug sie, daß sie in den Weg sollte gehen.(dhs) Num 22:23 Now the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand, and the donkey turned aside out of the way and went into the field. If there had been a sword in my hand, I would have killed you by now."(nas) Num 22:29 καὶ εἶπεν Βαλααμ τῇ ὄνῳ ὅτι ἐμπέπαιχάς μοι καὶ εἰ εἶχον μάχαιραν ἐν τῇ χειρί μου ἤδη ἂν ἐξεκέντησά σε (lxx) Num 22:29 Respondit Balaam: Quia commeruisti, et illusisti mihi: utinam haberem gladium, ut te percuterem!(vulgate) Numbers 22:29 And Balaam saide vnto the asse, Because thou hast mocked me: I woulde there were a sworde in mine hand, for nowe would I kill thee.(Geneva) Num 22:29 Bileam sprach zur Eselin: Daß du mich höhnest! ach, daß ich jetzt ein Schwert in der Hand hätte, ich wollte dich erwürgen!(dhs) Num 22:29 And Balaam said to the donkey, "Because you have abused me. I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would kill you!"(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:30 ============ Num 22:30 The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden all your life to this day? Have I ever been accustomed to do so to you?" And he said, "No."(nas) Num 22:30 καὶ λέγει ἡ ὄνος τῷ Βαλααμ οὐκ ἐγὼ ἡ ὄνος σου ἐφ᾽ ἧς ἐπέβαινες ἀπὸ νεότητός σου ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας μὴ ὑπεροράσει ὑπεριδοῦσα ἐποίησά σοι οὕτως ὁ δὲ εἶπεν οὐχί (lxx) Num 22:30 Dixit asina: Nonne animal tuum sum, cui semper sedere consuevisti usque in præsentem diem? dic quid simile umquam fecerim tibi. At ille ait: Numquam.(vulgate) Numbers 22:30 And the asse saide vnto Balaam, Am not I thine asse, which thou hast ridden vpon since thy first time vnto this day? haue I vsed at any time to doe thus vnto thee? Er sprach: Nein.(dhs) Num 22:30 So the donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden, ever since I became yours, to this day? Was I ever disposed to do this to you?" And he said, "No."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:31 ============ Num 22:31 Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way with his drawn sword in his hand; and he bowed all the way to the ground.(nas) Num 22:31 ἀπεκάλυψεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς Βαλααμ καὶ ὁρᾷ τὸν ἄγγελον κυρίου ἀνθεστηκότα ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ τὴν μάχαιραν ἐσπασμένην ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ κύψας προσεκύνησεν τῷ προσώπῳ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Num 22:31 Protinus aperuit Dominus oculos Balaam, et vidit angelum stantem in via, evaginato gladio, adoravitque eum pronus in terram.(vulgate) Numbers 22:31 And the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he sawe the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with his sword drawen in his hande: then he bowed him selfe, and fell flat on his face.(Geneva) Num 22:31 Da öffnete der HERR dem Bileam die Augen, daß er den Engel des HERRN sah im Wege stehen und ein bloßes Schwert in seiner Hand, und er neigte und bückte sich mit seinem Angesicht.(dhs) Num 22:31 Then the Lord opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and he bowed his head and fell flat on his face.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:32 ============ Num 22:32 The angel of the Lord said to him, "Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out as an adversary, because your way was contrary to me.(nas) Num 22:32 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τί ἐπάταξας τὴν ὄνον σου τοῦτο τρίτον καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξῆλθον εἰς διαβολήν σου ὅτι οὐκ ἀστεία ἡ ὁδός σου ἐναντίον μου (lxx) Num 22:32 Cui angelus: Cur, inquit, tertio verberas asinam tuam? ego veni ut adversarer tibi, quia perversa est via tua, mihique contraria:(vulgate) Numbers 22:32 And the Angel of the Lord said vnto him, Wherefore hast thou nowe smitten thine asse three times? beholde, I came out to withstande thee, because thy way is not straight before me.(Geneva) Num 22:32 Und der Engel des HERRN sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du deine Eselin geschlagen nun dreimal? Siehe, ich bin ausgegangen, daß ich dir widerstehe; denn dein Weg ist vor mir verkehrt.(dhs) Num 22:32 And the Angel of the Lord said to him, "Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to stand against you, because your way is perverse before Me.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:33 ============ Num 22:33 But the donkey saw me and turned aside from me these three times. If she had not turned aside from me, I would surely have killed you just now, and let her live."(nas) Num 22:33 καὶ ἰδοῦσά με ἡ ὄνος ἐξέκλινεν ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ τρίτον τοῦτο καὶ εἰ μὴ ἐξέκλινεν νῦν οὖν σὲ μὲν ἀπέκτεινα ἐκείνην δὲ περιεποιησάμην (lxx) Num 22:33 et nisi asina declinasset de via, dans locum resistenti, te occidissem, et illa viveret.~(vulgate) Numbers 22:33 But the asse sawe me, and turned fro me now three times: for els, if she had not turned fro me, surely I had euen nowe slaine thee, and saued her aliue.(Geneva) Num 22:33 Und die Eselin hat mich gesehen und ist dreimal ausgewichen; sonst, wo sie nicht vor mir gewichen wäre, so wollte ich dich auch jetzt erwürgt und die Eselin lebendig erhalten haben.(dhs) Num 22:33 The donkey saw Me and turned aside from Me these three times. Now therefore, if it displeases You, I will turn back."(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:35 ============ Num 22:35 But the angel of the Lord said to Balaam, "Go with the men, but you shall speak only the word which I tell you." So Balaam went along with the leaders of Balak.(nas) Num 22:35 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ θεοῦ πρὸς Βαλααμ συμπορεύθητι μετὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων πλὴν τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐὰν εἴπω πρὸς σέ τοῦτο φυλάξῃ λαλῆσαι καὶ ἐπορεύθη Βαλααμ μετὰ τῶν ἀρχόντων Βαλακ (lxx) Num 22:35 Ait angelus: Vade cum istis, et cave ne aliud quam præcepero tibi loquaris. Ivit igitur cum principibus.(vulgate) Numbers 22:35 But the Angel said vnto Balaam, Go with the men: but what I say vnto thee, that shalt thou speake. So Balaam went with ye princes of Balak.(Geneva) Num 22:35 Der Engel des HERRN sprach zu ihm: Zieh hin mit den Männern; aber nichts anderes, denn was ich dir sagen werde, sollst du reden. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:36 ============ Num 22:36 When Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the city of Moab, which is on the Arnon border, at the extreme end of the border.(nas) Num 22:36 καὶ ἀκούσας Βαλακ ὅτι ἥκει Βαλααμ ἐξῆλθεν εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτῷ εἰς πόλιν Μωαβ ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τῶν ὁρίων Αρνων ὅ ἐστιν ἐκ μέρους τῶν ὁρίων (lxx) Num 22:36 Quod cum audisset Balac, egressus est in occursum ejus in oppido Moabitarum, quod situm est in extremis finibus Arnon.(vulgate) Numbers 22:36 And when Balak heard that Balaam came, he went out to meete him vnto a citie of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, euen in the vtmost coast.(Geneva) Num 22:36 Da Balak hörte, daß Bileam kam, zog er aus ihm entgegen in die Stadt der Moabiter, die da liegt an der Grenze des Arnon, welcher ist an der äußersten Grenze,(dhs) Num 22:36 Now when Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the city of Moab, which is on the border at the Arnon, the boundary of the territory.(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:37 ============ Num 22:37 Then Balak said to Balaam, "Did I not urgently send to you to call you? Why did you not come to me? Am I really unable to honor you?"(nas) Num 22:37 καὶ εἶπεν Βαλακ πρὸς Βαλααμ οὐχὶ ἀπέστειλα πρὸς σὲ καλέσαι σε διὰ τί οὐκ ἤρχου πρός με ὄντως οὐ δυνήσομαι τιμῆσαί σε (lxx) Num 22:37 Dixitque ad Balaam: Misi nuntios ut vocarent te: cur non statim venisti ad me? an quia mercedem adventui tuo reddere nequeo?(vulgate) Numbers 22:37 Then Balak saide vnto Balaam, Did I not sende for thee to call thee? Wherefore camest thou not vnto me? am I not able in deede to promote thee vnto honour?(Geneva) Num 22:37 und sprach zu ihm: Habe ich nicht zu dir gesandt und dich fordern lassen? Warum bist du denn nicht zu mir gekommen? Meinst du ich könnte dich nicht ehren?(dhs) Num 22:37 Then Balak said to Balaam, "Did I not earnestly send to you, calling for you? Why did you not come to me? Am I not able to honor you?"(nkjv) ======= Numbers 22:38 ============ Num 22:38 So Balaam said to Balak, "Behold, I have come now to you! Am I able to speak anything at all? The word that God puts in my mouth, that I shall speak."(nas) Num 22:38 καὶ εἶπεν Βαλααμ πρὸς Βαλακ ἰδοὺ ἥκω πρὸς σέ νῦν δυνατὸς ἔσομαι λαλῆσαί τι τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐὰν βάλῃ ὁ θεὸς εἰς τὸ στόμα μου τοῦτο λαλήσω (lxx) Num 22:38 Cui ille respondit: Ecce adsum: numquid loqui potero aliud, nisi quod Deus posuerit in ore meo?(vulgate) Numbers 22:38 And Balaam made answere vnto Balak, Lo, I am come vnto thee, and can I nowe say any thing at all? the worde that God putteth in my mouth, that shal I speake.(Geneva) Num 22:38 Bileam antwortete ihm: Siehe, ich bin gekommen zu dir; aber wie kann ich etwas anderes reden, als was mir Gott in den Mund gibt? Das muß ich reden.(dhs) Num 22:38 And Balaam said to Balak, "Look, I have come to you! Now, have I any power at all to say anything?
