Today's Date: ======= Deuteronomy 21:1 ============ Deu 21:1 "If a slain person is found lying in the open country in the land which the Lord your God gives you to possess, and it is not known who has struck him,(nas) Deu 21:1 ἐὰν δὲ εὑρεθῇ τραυματίας ἐν τῇ γῇ ᾗ κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι κληρονομῆσαι πεπτωκὼς ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ καὶ οὐκ οἴδασιν τὸν πατάξαντα (lxx) Deu 21:1 Quando inventum fuerit in terra, quam Dominus Deus tuus daturus est tibi, hominis cadaver occisi, et ignorabitur cædis reus,(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:1 If one be founde slaine in the lande, which the Lord thy God giueth thee to possesse it, lying in the field, & it is not knowe who hath slaine him,(Geneva) Deu 21:1 Wenn man einen Erschlagenen findet in dem Lande, das dir der HERR, dein Gott, geben wird einzunehmen, und er liegt im Felde und man weiß nicht, wer ihn erschlagen hat,(dhs) Deu 21:1 "If anyone is found slain, lying in the field in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess, and it is not known who killed him,(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:2 ============ Deu 21:2 then your elders and your judges shall go out and measure the distance to the cities which are around the slain one.(nas) Deu 21:2 ἐξελεύσεται ἡ γερουσία σου καὶ οἱ κριταί σου καὶ ἐκμετρήσουσιν ἐπὶ τὰς πόλεις τὰς κύκλῳ τοῦ τραυματίου (lxx) Deu 21:2 egredientur majores natu, et judices tui, et metientur a loco cadaveris singularum per circuitum spatia civitatum:(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:2 Then thine Elders & thy Iudges shal come forth, and measure vnto the cities that are round about him that is slayne.(Geneva) Deu 21:2 so sollen deine Ältesten und Richter hinausgehen und von dem Erschlagenen messen bis an die Städte, die umher liegen.(dhs) Deu 21:2 then your elders and your judges shall go out and measure the distance from the slain man to the surrounding cities.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:3 ============ Deu 21:3 It shall be that the city which is nearest to the slain man, that is, the elders of that city, shall take a heifer of the herd, which has not been worked and which has not pulled in a yoke;(nas) Deu 21:3 καὶ ἔσται ἡ πόλις ἡ ἐγγίζουσα τῷ τραυματίᾳ καὶ λήμψεται ἡ γερουσία τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης δάμαλιν ἐκ βοῶν ἥτις οὐκ εἴργασται καὶ ἥτις οὐχ εἵλκυσεν ζυγόν (lxx) Deu 21:3 et quam viciniorem ceteris esse perspexerint, seniores civitatis illius tollent vitulam de armento, quæ non traxit jugum, nec terram scidit vomere,(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:3 Aud let ye Elders of that citie, which is next vnto the slaine man, take out of the droue an heifer that hath not bene put to labour, nor hath drawen in the yoke.(Geneva) Deu 21:3 Welche Stadt die nächste ist, deren Älteste sollen eine junge Kuh von den Rindern nehmen, mit der man nicht gearbeitet und die noch nicht am Joch gezogen hat,(dhs) Deu 21:3 And it shall be that the elders of the city nearest to the slain man will take a heifer which has not been worked and which has not pulled with a yoke.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:4 ============ Deu 21:4 and the elders of that city shall bring the heifer down to a valley with running water, which has not been plowed or sown, and shall break the heifer's neck there in the valley.(nas) Deu 21:4 καὶ καταβιβάσουσιν ἡ γερουσία τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης τὴν δάμαλιν εἰς φάραγγα τραχεῖαν ἥτις οὐκ εἴργασται οὐδὲ σπείρεται καὶ νευροκοπήσουσιν τὴν δάμαλιν ἐν τῇ φάραγγι (lxx) Deu 21:4 et ducent eam ad vallem asperam atque saxosam, quæ numquam arata est, nec sementem recepit: et cædent in ea cervices vitulæ:(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:4 And let the Elders of that citie bring the heifer vnto a stonie valley, which is neyther eared nor sowen, and strike off the heifers necke there in the valley.(Geneva) Deu 21:4 und sollen sie hinabführen in einen kiesigen Grund, der weder bearbeitet noch besät ist, und daselbst im Grund ihr den Hals brechen.(dhs) Deu 21:4 The elders of that city shall bring the heifer down to a valley with flowing water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and they shall break the heifer's neck there in the valley.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:5 ============ Deu 21:5 Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near, for the Lord your God has chosen them to serve Him and to bless in the name of the Lord; and every dispute and every assault shall be settled by them.(nas) Deu 21:5 καὶ προσελεύσονται οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ Λευῖται ὅτι αὐτοὺς ἐπέλεξεν κύριος ὁ θεός σου παρεστηκέναι αὐτῷ καὶ εὐλογεῖν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ στόματι αὐτῶν ἔσται πᾶσα ἀντιλογία καὶ πᾶσα ἁφή (lxx) Deu 21:5 accedentque sacerdotes filii Levi, quos elegerit Dominus Deus tuus ut ministrent ei, et benedicant in nomine ejus, et ad verbum eorum omne negotium, et quidquid mundum, vel immundum est, judicetur.(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:5 Also the Priests the sonnes of Leui (whom the Lord thy God hath chosen to minister, & to blesse in the name of the Lorde) shal come forth, & by their word shal all strife & plague be tried.(Geneva) Deu 21:5 Da sollen herzukommen die Priester, die Kinder Levi; denn der HERR, dein Gott, hat sie erwählt, daß sie ihm dienen und in seinem Namen segnen, und nach ihrem Mund sollen alle Sachen und alle Schäden gerichtet werden.(dhs) Deu 21:5 Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near, for the Lord your God has chosen them to minister to Him and to bless in the name of the Lord; by their word every controversy and every assault shall be settled.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:6 ============ Deu 21:6 All the elders of that city which is nearest to the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley;(nas) Deu 21:6 καὶ πᾶσα ἡ γερουσία τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης οἱ ἐγγίζοντες τῷ τραυματίᾳ νίψονται τὰς χεῖρας ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν τῆς δαμάλεως τῆς νενευροκοπημένης ἐν τῇ φάραγγι (lxx) Deu 21:6 Et venient majores natu civitatis illius ad interfectum, lavabuntque manus suas super vitulam, quæ in valle percussa est,(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:6 And all the Elders of that citie that came neere to the slayne man, shal wash their hands ouer the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:(Geneva) Deu 21:6 Und alle Ältesten der Stadt sollen herzutreten zu dem Erschlagenen und ihre Hände waschen über die junge Kuh, der im Grunde der Hals gebrochen ist,(dhs) Deu 21:6 And all the elders of that city nearest to the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:7 ============ Deu 21:7 and they shall answer and say, 'Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it.(nas) Deu 21:7 καὶ ἀποκριθέντες ἐροῦσιν αἱ χεῖρες ἡμῶν οὐκ ἐξέχεαν τὸ αἷμα τοῦτο καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἡμῶν οὐχ ἑωράκασιν (lxx) Deu 21:7 et dicent: Manus nostræ non effuderunt sanguinem hunc, nec oculi viderunt:(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:7 And shal testifie, and say, Our handes haue not shed this blood, neither haue our eies seene it.(Geneva) Deu 21:7 und sollen antworten und sagen: Unsre Hände haben dies Blut nicht vergossen, so haben's auch unsre Augen nicht gesehen.(dhs) Deu 21:7 Then they shall answer and say, 'Our hands have not shed this blood, nor have our eyes seen it.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:8 ============ Deu 21:8 Forgive Your people Israel whom You have redeemed, O Lord, and do not place the guilt of innocent blood in the midst of Your people Israel.' And the bloodguiltiness shall be forgiven them.(nas) Deu 21:8 ἵλεως γενοῦ τῷ λαῷ σου Ισραηλ οὓς ἐλυτρώσω κύριε ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ἵνα μὴ γένηται αἷμα ἀναίτιον ἐν τῷ λαῷ σου Ισραηλ καὶ ἐξιλασθήσεται αὐτοῖς τὸ αἷμα (lxx) Deu 21:8 propitius esto populo tuo Israël, quem redemisti, Domine, et ne reputes sanguinem innocentem in medio populi tui Israël. Et auferetur ab eis reatus sanguinis:(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:8 O Lord, be mercifull vnto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay no innocent blood to the charge of thy people Israel, and the blood shalbe forgiuen them.(Geneva) Deu 21:8 Sei gnädig deinem Volk Israel, das du, HERR, erlöst hast; lege nicht das unschuldige Blut auf dein Volk Israel! So werden sie über dem Blut versöhnt sein.(dhs) Deu 21:8 Provide atonement, O Lord, for Your people Israel, whom You have redeemed, and do not lay innocent blood to the charge of Your people Israel.' And atonement shall be provided on their behalf for the blood.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:9 ============ Deu 21:9 So you shall remove the guilt of innocent blood from your midst, when you do what is right in the eyes of the Lord. (nas) Deu 21:9 σὺ δὲ ἐξαρεῖς τὸ αἷμα τὸ ἀναίτιον ἐξ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν ἐὰν ποιήσῃς τὸ καλὸν καὶ τὸ ἀρεστὸν ἔναντι κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου (lxx) Deu 21:9 tu autem alienus eris ab innocentis cruore, qui fusus est, cum feceris quod præcepit Dominus.~(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:9 So shalt thou take away the cry of innocet blood from thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord.(Geneva) Deu 21:9 Also sollst du das unschuldige Blut von dir tun, daß du tust, was recht ist vor den Augen des HERRN.(dhs) Deu 21:9 So you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you when you do what is right in the sight of the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:10 ============ Deu 21:10 "When you go out to battle against your enemies, and the Lord your God delivers them into your hands and you take them away captive,(nas) Deu 21:10 ἐὰν δὲ ἐξελθὼν εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου καὶ παραδῷ σοι κύριος ὁ θεός σου εἰς τὰς χεῖράς σου καὶ προνομεύσεις τὴν προνομὴν αὐτῶν (lxx) Deu 21:10 Si egressus fueris ad pugnam contra inimicos tuos, et tradiderit eos Dominus Deus tuus in manu tua, captivosque duxeris,(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:10 Whe thou shalt go to warre against thine enemies, & the Lord thy God shal deliuer them into thine hands, & thou shalt take the captiues,(Geneva) Deu 21:10 Wenn du in einen Streit ziehst wider deine Feinde, und der HERR, dein Gott, gibt sie dir in deine Hände, daß du ihre Gefangenen wegführst,(dhs) Deu 21:10 "When you go out to war against your enemies, and the Lord your God delivers them into your hand, and you take them captive,(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:11 ============ Deu 21:11 and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and have a desire for her and would take her as a wife for yourself,(nas) Deu 21:11 καὶ ἴδῃς ἐν τῇ προνομῇ γυναῖκα καλὴν τῷ εἴδει καὶ ἐνθυμηθῇς αὐτῆς καὶ λάβῃς αὐτὴν σαυτῷ γυναῖκα (lxx) Deu 21:11 et videris in numero captivorum mulierem pulchram, et adamaveris eam, voluerisque habere uxorem,(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:11 And shalt see among the captiues a beautifull woman, and hast a desire vnto her, & wouldest take her to thy wife,(Geneva) Deu 21:11 und siehst unter den Gefangenen ein schönes Weib und hast Lust zu ihr, daß du sie zum Weibe nehmest,(dhs) Deu 21:11 and you see among the captives a beautiful woman, and desire her and would take her for your wife,(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:12 ============ Deu 21:12 then you shall bring her home to your house, and she shall shave her head and trim her nails.(nas) Deu 21:12 καὶ εἰσάξεις αὐτὴν ἔνδον εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν σου καὶ ξυρήσεις τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτῆς καὶ περιονυχιεῖς αὐτὴν (lxx) Deu 21:12 introduces eam in domum tuam: quæ radet cæsariem, et circumcidet ungues,(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:12 Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shal shaue her head, and pare her nayles,(Geneva) Deu 21:12 so führe sie in dein Haus und laß sie ihr Haar abscheren und ihre Nägel beschneiden(dhs) Deu 21:12 then you shall bring her home to your house, and she shall shave her head and trim her nails.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:13 ============ Deu 21:13 She shall also remove the clothes of her captivity and shall remain in your house, and mourn her father and mother a full month; and after that you may go in to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife.(nas) Deu 21:13 καὶ περιελεῖς τὰ ἱμάτια τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας αὐτῆς ἀπ᾽ αὐτῆς καὶ καθίεται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ σου καὶ κλαύσεται τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα μηνὸς ἡμέρας καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα εἰσελεύσῃ πρὸς αὐτὴν καὶ συνοικισθήσῃ αὐτῇ καὶ ἔσται σου γυνή (lxx) Deu 21:13 et deponet vestem, in qua capta est: sedensque in domo tua, flebit patrem et matrem suam uno mense: et postea intrabis ad eam, dormiesque cum illa, et erit uxor tua.(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:13 And she shal put off the garment that shee was taken in, and she shal remaine in thine house, and bewaile her father & her mother a moneth long: and after that shalt thou go in vnto her, & marry her, and she shalbe thy wife.(Geneva) Deu 21:13 und die Kleider ablegen, darin sie gefangen ist, und laß sie sitzen in deinem Hause und beweinen einen Monat lang ihren Vater und ihre Mutter; but you shall certainly not sell her for money, you shall not mistreat her, because you have humbled her.(nas) Deu 21:14 καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν μὴ θέλῃς αὐτήν ἐξαποστελεῖς αὐτὴν ἐλευθέραν καὶ πράσει οὐ πραθήσεται ἀργυρίου οὐκ ἀθετήσεις αὐτήν διότι ἐταπείνωσας αὐτήν (lxx) Deu 21:14 Si autem postea non sederit animo tuo, dimittes eam liberam, nec vendere poteris pecunia, nec opprimere per potentiam: quia humiliasti eam.~(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:14 And if thou haue no fauour vnto her, then thou mayest let her go whither she will, but thou shalt not sell her for money, nor make marchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.(Geneva) Deu 21:14 Wenn du aber nicht mehr Lust zu ihr hast, so sollst du sie gehen lassen, wohin sie will, und nicht um Geld verkaufen noch versetzen, darum daß du sie gedemütigt hast.(dhs) Deu 21:14 And it shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall set her free, but you certainly shall not sell her for money; you shall not treat her brutally, because you have humbled her.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:15 ============ Deu 21:15 "If a man has two wives, the one loved and the other unloved, and both the loved and the unloved have borne him sons, if the firstborn son belongs to the unloved,(nas) Deu 21:15 ἐὰν δὲ γένωνται ἀνθρώπῳ δύο γυναῖκες μία αὐτῶν ἠγαπημένη καὶ μία αὐτῶν μισουμένη καὶ τέκωσιν αὐτῷ ἡ ἠγαπημένη καὶ ἡ μισουμένη καὶ γένηται υἱὸς πρωτότοκος τῆς μισουμένης (lxx) Deu 21:15 Si habuerit homo uxores duas, unam dilectam, et alteram odiosam, genuerintque ex eo liberos, et fuerit filius odiosæ primogenitus,(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:15 If a man haue two wiues, one loued and another hated, and they haue borne him children, both the loued and also the hated: if the first borne be the sonne of the hated,(Geneva) Deu 21:15 Wenn jemand zwei Weiber hat, eine, die er liebhat, und eine, die er haßt, und sie ihm Kinder gebären, beide, die liebe und die unwerte, daß der Erstgeborene von der unwerten ist,(dhs) Deu 21:15 "If a man has two wives, one loved and the other unloved, and they have borne him children, both the loved and the unloved, and if the firstborn son is of her who is unloved,(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:16 ============ Deu 21:16 then it shall be in the day he wills what he has to his sons, he cannot make the son of the loved the firstborn before the son of the unloved, who is the firstborn.(nas) Deu 21:16 καὶ ἔσται ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ κατακληροδοτῇ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ οὐ δυνήσεται πρωτοτοκεῦσαι τῷ υἱῷ τῆς ἠγαπημένης ὑπεριδὼν τὸν υἱὸν τῆς μισουμένης τὸν πρωτότοκον (lxx) Deu 21:16 volueritque substantiam inter filios suos dividere, non poterit filium dilectæ facere primogenitum, et præferre filio odiosæ:(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:16 Then when the time commeth, that hee appointeth his sonnes to be heires of that which he hath, he may not make the sonne of the beloued first borne before the sonne of the hated, which is the first borne:(Geneva) Deu 21:16 und die Zeit kommt, daß er seinen Kindern das Erbe austeile, so kann er nicht den Sohn der liebsten zum erstgeborenen Sohn machen für den erstgeborenen Sohn der unwerten,(dhs) Deu 21:16 then it shall be, on the day he bequeaths his possessions to his sons, that he must not bestow firstborn status on the son of the loved wife in preference to the son of the unloved, the true firstborn.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 21:17 ============ Deu 21:17 But he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the unloved, by giving him a double portion of all that he has, for he is the beginning of his strength; to him belongs the right of the firstborn.(nas) Deu 21:17 ἀλλὰ τὸν πρωτότοκον υἱὸν τῆς μισουμένης ἐπιγνώσεται δοῦναι αὐτῷ διπλᾶ ἀπὸ πάντων ὧν ἂν εὑρεθῇ αὐτῷ ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ἀρχὴ τέκνων αὐτοῦ καὶ τούτῳ καθήκει τὰ πρωτοτόκια (lxx) Deu 21:17 sed filium odiosæ agnoscet primogenitum, dabitque ei de his quæ habuerit cuncta duplicia: iste est enim principium liberorum ejus, et huic debentur primogenita.~(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:17 But he shall acknowledge the sonne of the hated for the first borne, and giue him double portion of all that he hath: for hee is the first of his strength, and to him belongeth the right of the first borne.(Geneva) Deu 21:17 sondern er soll den Sohn der unwerten für den ersten Sohn erkennen, daß er ihm zwiefältig gebe von allem, was vorhanden ist; denn derselbe ist der Erstling seiner Kraft, und der Erstgeburt Recht ist sein.(dhs) Deu 21:17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the unloved wife as the firstborn by giving him a double portion of all that he has, for he is the beginning of his strength; (nas) Deu 21:23 οὐκ ἐπικοιμηθήσεται τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τοῦ ξύλου ἀλλὰ ταφῇ θάψετε αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ὅτι κεκατηραμένος ὑπὸ θεοῦ πᾶς κρεμάμενος ἐπὶ ξύλου καὶ οὐ μιανεῖτε τὴν γῆν ἣν κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι ἐν κλήρῳ (lxx) Deu 21:23 non permanebit cadaver ejus in ligno, sed in eadem die sepelietur: quia maledictus a Deo est qui pendet in ligno: et nequaquam contaminabis terram tuam, quam Dominus Deus tuus dederit tibi in possessionem.(vulgate) Deuteronomy 21:23 His body shal not remaine all night vpon the tree, but thou shalt bury him the same day: for the curse of God is on him that is hanged.
