Then they passed through the land of Shaalim, but they were not there. Then he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they did not find them.(nas) 1Sa 9:4 καὶ διῆλθον δι᾽ ὄρους Εφραιμ καὶ διῆλθον διὰ τῆς γῆς Σελχα καὶ οὐχ εὗρον καὶ διῆλθον διὰ τῆς γῆς Εασακεμ καὶ οὐκ ἦν καὶ διῆλθον διὰ τῆς γῆς Ιακιμ καὶ οὐχ εὗρον (lxx) 1Sa 9:4 et per terram Salisa, et non invenissent, transierunt etiam per terram Salim, et non erant: sed et per terram Jemini, et minime repererunt.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:4 So he passed through mount Ephraim, and went through the lande of Shalishah, but they found them not. Nunc ergo eamus illuc, si forte indicet nobis de via nostra, propter quam venimus.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:6 And he said vnto him, Behold nowe, in this citie is a man of God, and he is an honorable man: all that he saith commeth to passe: let vs nowe goe thither, if so be that he can shewe vs what way we may goe.(Geneva) 1Sa 9:6 Er aber sprach: Siehe, es ist ein berühmter Mann Gottes in dieser Stadt; alles, was er sagt, das geschieht. What do we have?"(nas) 1Sa 9:7 καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ τῷ παιδαρίῳ αὐτοῦ τῷ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἰδοὺ πορευσόμεθα καὶ τί οἴσομεν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ ὅτι οἱ ἄρτοι ἐκλελοίπασιν ἐκ τῶν ἀγγείων ἡμῶν καὶ πλεῖον οὐκ ἔστιν μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν εἰσενεγκεῖν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ τὸ ὑπάρχον ἡμῖν (lxx) 1Sa 9:7 Dixitque Saul ad puerum suum: Ecce ibimus: quid feremus ad virum Dei? panis defecit in sitarciis nostris, et sportulam non habemus ut demus homini Dei, nec quidquam aliud.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:7 Then saide Saul to his seruant, Well then, let vs goe: but what shall we bring vnto the man? What do we have?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:8 ============ 1Sa 9:8 The servant answered Saul again and said, "Behold, I have in my hand a fourth of a shekel of silver; I will give it to the man of God and he will tell us our way."(nas) 1Sa 9:8 καὶ προσέθετο τὸ παιδάριον ἀποκριθῆναι τῷ Σαουλ καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ εὕρηται ἐν τῇ χειρί μου τέταρτον σίκλου ἀργυρίου καὶ δώσεις τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἀπαγγελεῖ ἡμῖν τὴν ὁδὸν ἡμῶν (lxx) 1Sa 9:8 Rursum puer respondit Sauli, et ait: Ecce inventa est in manu mea quarta pars stateris argenti: demus homini Dei, ut indicet nobis viam nostram.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:8 And the seruant answered Saul againe, and said, Beholde, I haue founde about me the fourth part of a shekell of siluer: that will I giue the man of God, to tell vs our way.(Geneva) 1Sa 9:8 Der Knecht antwortete Saul wieder und sprach: Siehe, ich habe ein viertel eines Silberlings bei mir; das wollen wir dem Mann Gottes geben, daß er uns unsern Weg sage.(dhs) 1Sa 9:8 And the servant answered Saul again and said, "Look, I have here at hand one fourth of a shekel of silver. Hurry now; for today he came to this city, because there is a sacrifice of the people today on the high place.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:13 ============ 1Sa 9:13 As soon as you enter the city you will find him before he goes up to the high place to eat, for the people will not eat until he comes, because he must bless the sacrifice; afterward those who are invited will eat. Now therefore, go up for you will find him at once."(nas) 1Sa 9:13 ὡς ἂν εἰσέλθητε τὴν πόλιν οὕτως εὑρήσετε αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ πόλει πρὶν ἀναβῆναι αὐτὸν εἰς Βαμα τοῦ φαγεῖν ὅτι οὐ μὴ φάγῃ ὁ λαὸς ἕως τοῦ εἰσελθεῖν αὐτόν ὅτι οὗτος εὐλογεῖ τὴν θυσίαν καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἐσθίουσιν οἱ ξένοι καὶ νῦν ἀνάβητε ὅτι διὰ τὴν ἡμέραν εὑρήσετε αὐτόν (lxx) 1Sa 9:13 Ingredientes urbem, statim invenietis eum antequam ascendat excelsum ad vescendum, neque enim comesurus est populus donec ille veniat: quia ipse benedicit hostiæ, et deinceps comedunt qui vocati sunt. Nunc ergo conscendite, quia hodie reperietis eum.~(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:13 When ye shall come into the citie, ye shall finde him straightway yet he come vp to the hie place to eate: for the people will not eate vntill he come, because he will blesse the sacrifice: and then eate they that be bidden to the feast: nowe therefore goe vp: for euen now shall ye find him.(Geneva) 1Sa 9:13 Wenn ihr in die Stadt kommt, so werdet ihr ihn finden, ehe denn er hinaufgeht auf die Höhe, zu essen. Denn das Volk wird nicht essen, bis er komme, sintemal er segnet das Opfer; darnach essen die, so geladen sind. As they came into the city, behold, Samuel was coming out toward them to go up to the high place. (nas) 1Sa 9:14 καὶ ἀναβαίνουσιν τὴν πόλιν αὐτῶν εἰσπορευομένων εἰς μέσον τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἰδοὺ Σαμουηλ ἐξῆλθεν εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτῶν τοῦ ἀναβῆναι εἰς Βαμα (lxx) 1Sa 9:14 Et ascenderunt in civitatem. Cumque illi ambularent in medio urbis, apparuit Samuel egrediens obviam eis, ut ascenderet in excelsum.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:14 Then they went vp into the citie, & when they were come into the middes of the citie, Samuel came out against them, to goe vp to the hie place.(Geneva) 1Sa 9:14 Und da sie hinauf zur Stadt kamen und in die Stadt eintraten, siehe, da ging Samuel heraus, ihnen entgegen, und wollte auf die Höhe gehen.(dhs) 1Sa 9:14 So they went up to the city. As they were coming into the city, there was Samuel, coming out toward them on his way up to the high place.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:15 ============ 1Sa 9:15 Now a day before Saul's coming, the Lord had revealed this to Samuel saying,(nas) 1Sa 9:15 καὶ κύριος ἀπεκάλυψεν τὸ ὠτίον Σαμουηλ ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷ ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ ἐλθεῖν πρὸς αὐτὸν Σαουλ λέγων (lxx) 1Sa 9:15 Dominus autem revelaverat auriculam Samuelis ante unam diem quam veniret Saul, dicens:(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:15 But the Lord had reueiled to Samuel secretly (a day before Saul came) saying,(Geneva) 1Sa 9:15 Aber der HERR hatte Samuels Ohren offenbart einen Tag zuvor, ehe denn Saul kam, und gesagt:(dhs) 1Sa 9:15 Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying,(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:16 ============ 1Sa 9:16 "About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over My people Israel; and he will deliver My people from the hand of the Philistines. For I have regarded My people, because their cry has come to Me."(nas) 1Sa 9:16 ὡς ὁ καιρὸς αὔριον ἀποστελῶ πρὸς σὲ ἄνδρα ἐκ γῆς Βενιαμιν καὶ χρίσεις αὐτὸν εἰς ἄρχοντα ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου Ισραηλ καὶ σώσει τὸν λαόν μου ἐκ χειρὸς ἀλλοφύλων ὅτι ἐπέβλεψα ἐπὶ τὴν ταπείνωσιν τοῦ λαοῦ μου ὅτι ἦλθεν βοὴ αὐτῶν πρός με (lxx) 1Sa 9:16 Hac ipsa hora quæ nunc est, cras mittam virum ad te de terra Benjaminm, et unges eum ducem super populum meum Israël: et salvabit populum meum de manu Philisthinorum, quia respexi populum meum: venit enim clamor eorum ad me.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:16 To morow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Beniamin: him shalt thou anoint to be gouernour ouer my people Israel, that he may saue my people out of the hands of the Philistims: for I haue looked vpon my people, and their crie is come vnto me.(Geneva) 1Sa 9:16 Morgen um diese Zeit will ich einen Mann zu dir senden aus dem Lande Benjamin; den sollst du zum Fürsten salben über mein Volk Israel, daß er mein Volk erlöse von der Philister Hand. Why then do you speak to me in this way?"(nas) 1Sa 9:21 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Σαουλ καὶ εἶπεν οὐχὶ ἀνδρὸς υἱὸς Ιεμιναίου ἐγώ εἰμι τοῦ μικροῦ σκήπτρου φυλῆς Ισραηλ καὶ τῆς φυλῆς τῆς ἐλαχίστης ἐξ ὅλου σκήπτρου Βενιαμιν καὶ ἵνα τί ἐλάλησας πρὸς ἐμὲ κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο (lxx) 1Sa 9:21 Respondens autem Saul, ait: Numquid non filius Jemini ego sum de minima tribu Israël, et cognatio mea novissima inter omnes familias de tribu Benjamin? quare ergo locutus est mihi sermonem istum?(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:21 But Saul answered, and said, Am not I the sonne of Iemini of the smallest tribe of Israel? and my familie is the least of all the families of the tribe of Beniamin. Set it before you and eat, because it has been kept for you until the appointed time, since I said I have invited the people." So Saul ate with Samuel that day.(nas) 1Sa 9:24 καὶ ὕψωσεν ὁ μάγειρος τὴν κωλέαν καὶ παρέθηκεν αὐτὴν ἐνώπιον Σαουλ καὶ εἶπεν Σαμουηλ τῷ Σαουλ ἰδοὺ ὑπόλειμμα παράθες αὐτὸ ἐνώπιόν σου καὶ φάγε ὅτι εἰς μαρτύριον τέθειταί σοι παρὰ τοὺς ἄλλους ἀπόκνιζε καὶ ἔφαγεν Σαουλ μετὰ Σαμουηλ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ (lxx) 1Sa 9:24 Levavit autem cocus armum, et posuit ante Saul. Dixitque Samuel: Ecce quod remansit: pone ante te, et comede, quia de industria servatum est tibi quando populum vocavi. Et comedit Saul cum Samuele in die illa.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 9:24 And the cooke tooke vp the shoulder, and that which was vpon it, and set it before Saul; Samuel said, Beholde, that which is left, set it before thee and eate: for hitherto hath it bene kept for thee, saying, Also I haue called the people. Also aß Saul mit Samuel des Tages.(dhs) 1Sa 9:24 So the cook took up the thigh with its upper part and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, "Here it is, what was kept back. It was set apart for you. Eat; for until this time it has been kept for you, since I said I invited the people."
