Today's Date: ======= Ezra 9:1 ============ Ezr 9:1 Now when these things had been completed, the princes approached me, saying, "The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, according to their abominations, those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians and the Amorites.(nas) Ezr 9:1 καὶ ὡς ἐτελέσθη ταῦτα ἤγγισαν πρός με οἱ ἄρχοντες λέγοντες οὐκ ἐχωρίσθη ὁ λαὸς Ισραηλ καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται ἀπὸ λαῶν τῶν γαιῶν ἐν μακρύμμασιν αὐτῶν τῷ Χανανι ὁ Εθι ὁ Φερεζι ὁ Ιεβουσι ὁ Αμμωνι ὁ Μωαβι ὁ Μοσερι καὶ ὁ Αμορι (lxx) Ezr 9:1 Postquam autem hæc completa sunt, accesserunt ad me principes, dicentes: Non est separatus populus Israël, sacerdotes et Levitæ, a populis terrarum et abominationibus eorum: Chananæi videlicet, et Hethæi, et Pherezæi, et Jebusæi, et Ammonitarum, et Moabitarum, et Ægyptiorum, et Amorrhæorum:(vulgate) Ezra 9:1 When as these things were done, the rulers came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the Priestes, and the Leuites are not separated from the people of the lands (as touching their abominations) to wit, of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Iebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.(Geneva) Ezr 9:1 Da das alles war ausgerichtet, traten zu mir die Obersten und sprachen: Das Volk Israel und die Priester und Leviten sind nicht abgesondert von den Völkern in den Ländern nach ihren Greueln, nämlich die Kanaaniter, Hethiter, Pheresiter, Jebusiter, Ammoniter, Moabiter, Ägypter und Amoriter;(dhs) Ezr 9:1 When these things were done, the leaders came to me, saying, "The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, with respect to the abominations of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:2 ============ Ezr 9:2 For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race has intermingled with the peoples of the lands; indeed, the hands of the princes and the rulers have been foremost in this unfaithfulness."(nas) Ezr 9:2 ὅτι ἐλάβοσαν ἀπὸ θυγατέρων αὐτῶν ἑαυτοῖς καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτῶν καὶ παρήχθη σπέρμα τὸ ἅγιον ἐν λαοῖς τῶν γαιῶν καὶ χεὶρ τῶν ἀρχόντων ἐν τῇ ἀσυνθεσίᾳ ταύτῃ ἐν ἀρχῇ (lxx) Ezr 9:2 tulerunt enim de filiabus eorum sibi et filiis suis, et commiscuerunt semen sanctum cum populis terrarum: manus etiam principum et magistratuum fuit in transgressione hac prima.(vulgate) Ezra 9:2 For they haue taken their daughters to theselues, and to their sonnes, and they haue mixed the holy seede with the people of the landes, and the hande of the princes and rulers hath bene chiefe in this trespasse.(Geneva) Ezr 9:2 denn sie haben derselben Töchter genommen sich und ihren Söhnen und den heiligen Samen gemein gemacht mit den Völkern in den Ländern. Und die Hand der Obersten und Ratsherren war die vornehmste in dieser Missetat.(dhs) Ezr 9:2 For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed is mixed with the peoples of those lands. Indeed, the hand of the leaders and rulers has been foremost in this trespass."(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:3 ============ Ezr 9:3 When I heard about this matter, I tore my garment and my robe, and pulled some of the hair from my head and my beard, and sat down appalled.(nas) Ezr 9:3 καὶ ὡς ἤκουσα τὸν λόγον τοῦτον διέρρηξα τὰ ἱμάτιά μου καὶ ἐπαλλόμην καὶ ἔτιλλον ἀπὸ τῶν τριχῶν τῆς κεφαλῆς μου καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ πώγωνός μου καὶ ἐκαθήμην ἠρεμάζων (lxx) Ezr 9:3 Cumque audissem sermonem istum, scidi pallium meum et tunicam, et evelli capillos capitis mei et barbæ, et sedi mœrens.(vulgate) Ezra 9:3 But when I heard this saying, I rent my clothes and my garment, and pluckt off the heare of mine head, and of my beard, and sate downe astonied.(Geneva) Ezr 9:3 Da ich solches hörte, zerriß ich mein Kleid und meinen Rock und raufte mein Haupthaar und Bart aus und saß bestürzt.(dhs) Ezr 9:3 So when I heard this thing, I tore my garment and my robe, and plucked out some of the hair of my head and beard, and sat down astonished.(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:4 ============ Ezr 9:4 Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel on account of the unfaithfulness of the exiles gathered to me, and I sat appalled until the evening offering. (nas) Ezr 9:4 καὶ συνήχθησαν πρός με πᾶς ὁ διώκων λόγον θεοῦ Ισραηλ ἐπὶ ἀσυνθεσίᾳ τῆς ἀποικίας καὶ ἐγὼ καθήμενος ἠρεμάζων ἕως τῆς θυσίας τῆς ἑσπερινῆς (lxx) Ezr 9:4 Convenerunt autem ad me omnes qui timebant verbum Dei Israël, pro transgressione eorum qui de captivitate venerant, et ego sedebam tristis usque ad sacrificium vespertinum:(vulgate) Ezra 9:4 And there assembled vnto me all that feared the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of them of the captiuitie; I sate downe astonied vntil the euening sacrifice.(Geneva) Ezr 9:4 Und es versammelten sich zu mir alle, die des HERRN Wort, des Gottes Israels, fürchteten, um der Vergreifung willen derer, die gefangen gewesen waren; und ich saß bestürzt bis an das Abendopfer.(dhs) Ezr 9:4 Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel assembled to me, because of the transgression of those who had been carried away captive, and I sat astonished until the evening sacrifice.(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:5 ============ Ezr 9:5 But at the evening offering I arose from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn, and I fell on my knees and stretched out my hands to the Lord my God;(nas) Ezr 9:5 καὶ ἐν θυσίᾳ τῇ ἑσπερινῇ ἀνέστην ἀπὸ ταπεινώσεώς μου καὶ ἐν τῷ διαρρῆξαί με τὰ ἱμάτιά μου καὶ ἐπαλλόμην καὶ κλίνω ἐπὶ τὰ γόνατά μου καὶ ἐκπετάζω τὰς χεῖράς μου πρὸς κύριον τὸν θεὸν (lxx) Ezr 9:5 et in sacrificio vespertino, surrexi de afflictione mea, et scisso pallio et tunica, curvavi genua mea, et expandi manus meas ad Dominum Deum meum.~(vulgate) Ezra 9:5 And at the euening sacrifice I arose vp fro mine heauinesse, and when I had rent my clothes and my garment, I fell vpon my knees, and spred out mine hands vnto the Lord my God,(Geneva) Ezr 9:5 Und um das Abendopfer stand ich auf von meinem Elend und zerriß mein Kleid und meinen Rock und fiel auf meine Kniee und breitete meine Hände aus zu dem HERRN, meinem Gott,(dhs) Ezr 9:5 At the evening sacrifice I arose from my fasting; and having torn my garment and my robe, I fell on my knees and spread out my hands to the Lord my God.(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:6 ============ Ezr 9:6 and I said, "O my God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to You, my God, for our iniquities have risen above our heads and our guilt has grown even to the heavens.(nas) Ezr 9:6 καὶ εἶπα κύριε ᾐσχύνθην καὶ ἐνετράπην τοῦ ὑψῶσαι τὸ πρόσωπόν μου πρὸς σέ ὅτι αἱ ἀνομίαι ἡμῶν ἐπληθύνθησαν ὑπὲρ κεφαλῆς ἡμῶν καὶ αἱ πλημμέλειαι ἡμῶν ἐμεγαλύνθησαν ἕως εἰς οὐρανόν (lxx) Ezr 9:6 Et dixi: Deus meus, confundor et erubesco levare faciem meam ad te: quoniam iniquitates nostræ multiplicatæ sunt super caput nostrum, et delicta nostra creverunt usque ad cælum,(vulgate) Ezra 9:6 And said, O my God, I am confounded & ashamed, to lift vp mine eyes vnto thee my God: for our iniquities are increased ouer our head, & our trespasse is growen vp vnto the heauen.(Geneva) Ezr 9:6 und sprach: Mein Gott, ich schäme mich und scheue mich, meine Augen aufzuheben zu dir, mein Gott; denn unsre Missetat ist über unser Haupt gewachsen und unsre Schuld ist groß bis in den Himmel.(dhs) Ezr 9:6 And I said: "O my God, I am too ashamed and humiliated to lift up my face to You, my God; for our iniquities have risen higher than our heads, and our guilt has grown up to the heavens.(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:7 ============ Ezr 9:7 Since the days of our fathers to this day we have been in great guilt, and on account of our iniquities we, our kings and our priests have been given into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity and to plunder and to open shame, as it is this day.(nas) Ezr 9:7 ἀπὸ ἡμερῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἐσμεν ἐν πλημμελείᾳ μεγάλῃ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἀνομίαις ἡμῶν παρεδόθημεν ἡμεῖς καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς ἡμῶν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ ἡμῶν ἐν χειρὶ βασιλέων τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ καὶ ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ καὶ ἐν διαρπαγῇ καὶ ἐν αἰσχύνῃ προσώπου ἡμῶν ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη (lxx) Ezr 9:7 a diebus patrum nostrorum: sed et nos ipsi peccavimus graviter usque ad diem hanc, et in iniquitatibus nostris traditi sumus ipsi, et reges nostri, et sacerdotes nostri, in manum regum terrarum, et in gladium, et in captivitatem, et in rapinam, et in confusionem vultus, sicut et die hac.(vulgate) Ezra 9:7 From the dayes of our fathers haue we bin in a great trespasse vnto this day, and for our iniquities haue we, our Kings, & our Priestes bene deliuered into the hand of the kings of the lands, vnto the sword, into captiuitie, into a spoyle, and into confusion of face, as appeareth this day.(Geneva) Ezr 9:7 Von der Zeit unsrer Väter an sind wir in großer Schuld gewesen bis auf diesen Tag, und um unsrer Missetat willen sind wir und unsre Könige und Priester gegeben in die Hand der Könige in den Ländern, ins Schwert, ins Gefängnis in Raub und in Scham des Angesichts, wie es heutigestages geht.(dhs) Ezr 9:7 Since the days of our fathers to this day we have been very guilty, and for our iniquities we, our kings, and our priests have been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, to plunder, and to humiliation, as it is this day.(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:8 ============ Ezr 9:8 But now for a brief moment grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us an escaped remnant and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our bondage.(nas) Ezr 9:8 καὶ νῦν ἐπιεικεύσατο ἡμῖν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν τοῦ καταλιπεῖν ἡμῖν εἰς σωτηρίαν καὶ δοῦναι ἡμῖν στήριγμα ἐν τόπῳ ἁγιάσματος αὐτοῦ τοῦ φωτίσαι ὀφθαλμοὺς ἡμῶν καὶ δοῦναι ζωοποίησιν μικρὰν ἐν τῇ δουλείᾳ ἡμῶν (lxx) Ezr 9:8 Et nunc quasi parum et ad momentum facta est deprecatio nostra apud Dominum Deum nostrum, ut dimitterentur nobis reliquiæ, et daretur nobis paxillus in loco sancto ejus, et illuminaret oculos nostros Deus noster, et daret nobis vitam modicam in servitute nostra:(vulgate) Ezra 9:8 And now for a litle space grace hath bene shewed from the Lord our God, in causing a remnant to escape, & in giuing vs a nayle in his holy place, that our God may light our eyes, & giue vs a litle reuiuing in our seruitude.(Geneva) Ezr 9:8 Nun aber ist einen kleinen Augenblick Gnade von dem HERRN, unserm Gott, geschehen, daß uns noch Entronnene übriggelassen sind, daß er uns gebe einen Nagel an seiner heiligen Stätte, daß unser Gott unsre Augen erleuchte und gebe uns ein wenig Leben, da wir Knechte sind.(dhs) Ezr 9:8 And now for a little while grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage.(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:9 ============ Ezr 9:9 For we are slaves; yet in our bondage our God has not forsaken us, but has extended lovingkindness to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us reviving to raise up the house of our God, to restore its ruins and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.(nas) Ezr 9:9 ὅτι δοῦλοί ἐσμεν καὶ ἐν τῇ δουλείᾳ ἡμῶν οὐκ ἐγκατέλιπεν ἡμᾶς κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν καὶ ἔκλινεν ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς ἔλεος ἐνώπιον βασιλέων Περσῶν δοῦναι ἡμῖν ζωοποίησιν τοῦ ὑψῶσαι αὐτοὺς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν καὶ ἀναστῆσαι τὰ ἔρημα αὐτῆς καὶ τοῦ δοῦναι ἡμῖν φραγμὸν ἐν Ιουδα καὶ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ (lxx) Ezr 9:9 quia servi sumus, et in servitute nostra non dereliquit nos Deus noster, sed inclinavit super nos misericordiam coram rege Persarum, ut daret nobis vitam, et sublimaret domum Dei nostri, et exstrueret solitudines ejus, et daret nobis sepem in Juda et Jerusalem.~(vulgate) Ezra 9:9 For though we were bondmen, yet our God hath not forsaken vs in our bondage, but hath enclined mercy vnto vs in the sight of the Kings of Persia, to giue vs life, & to erect the house of our God, & to redresse the places thereof, and to giue vs a wall in Iudah and in Ierusalem.(Geneva) Ezr 9:9 Denn wir sind Knechte, und unser Gott hat uns nicht verlassen, ob wir Knechte sind, und hat Barmherzigkeit zu uns geneigt vor den Königen in Persien, daß sie uns das Leben gelassen haben und erhöht das Haus unsers Gottes und aufgerichtet seine Verstörung und uns gegeben einen Zaun in Juda und Jerusalem.(dhs) Ezr 9:9 For we were slaves. For we have forsaken Your commandments,(nas) Ezr 9:10 τί εἴπωμεν ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν μετὰ τοῦτο ὅτι ἐγκατελίπομεν ἐντολάς σου (lxx) Ezr 9:10 Et nunc quid dicemus, Deus noster, post hæc? Quia dereliquimus mandata tua,(vulgate) Ezra 9:10 And nowe, our God, what shal we say after this? for we haue forsaken thy commandements,(Geneva) Ezr 9:10 Nun, was sollen wir sagen, unser Gott, nach diesem, daß wir deine Gebote verlassen haben,(dhs) Ezr 9:10 And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments,(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:11 ============ Ezr 9:11 which You have commanded by Your servants the prophets, saying, 'The land which you are entering to possess is an unclean land with the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from end to end and with their impurity.(nas) Ezr 9:11 ἃς ἔδωκας ἡμῖν ἐν χειρὶ δούλων σου τῶν προφητῶν λέγων ἡ γῆ εἰς ἣν εἰσπορεύεσθε κληρονομῆσαι αὐτήν γῆ μετακινουμένη ἐστὶν ἐν μετακινήσει λαῶν τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐν μακρύμμασιν αὐτῶν ὧν ἔπλησαν αὐτὴν ἀπὸ στόματος ἐπὶ στόμα ἐν ἀκαθαρσίαις αὐτῶν (lxx) Ezr 9:11 quæ præcepisti in manu servorum tuorum prophetarum, dicens: Terra, ad quam vos ingredimini ut possideatis eam, terra immunda est juxta immunditiam populorum, ceterarumque terrarum, abominationibus eorum qui repleverunt eam ab ore usque ad os in coinquinatione sua.(vulgate) Ezra 9:11 Which thou hast commanded by thy seruants the Prophets, saying, The land whereunto ye go to possesse it, is an vncleane land, because of the filthines of the people of the lands, which by their abominations, & by their vncleannes haue filled it from corner to corner.(Geneva) Ezr 9:11 die du durch deine Knechte, die Propheten, geboten hast und gesagt: Das Land, darein ihr kommt, es zu erben, ist ein unreines Land durch die Unreinigkeit der Völker in den Ländern in ihren Greueln, womit sie es an allen Enden voll Unreinigkeit gemacht haben.(dhs) Ezr 9:11 which You commanded by Your servants the prophets, saying, 'The land which you are entering to possess is an unclean land, with the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from one end to another with their impurity.(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:12 ============ Ezr 9:12 So now do not give your daughters to their sons nor take their daughters to your sons, and never seek their peace or their prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good things of the land and leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.'(nas) Ezr 9:12 καὶ νῦν τὰς θυγατέρας ὑμῶν μὴ δῶτε τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων αὐτῶν μὴ λάβητε τοῖς υἱοῖς ὑμῶν καὶ οὐκ ἐκζητήσετε εἰρήνην αὐτῶν καὶ ἀγαθὸν αὐτῶν ἕως αἰῶνος ὅπως ἐνισχύσητε καὶ φάγητε τὰ ἀγαθὰ τῆς γῆς καὶ κληροδοτήσητε τοῖς υἱοῖς ὑμῶν ἕως αἰῶνος (lxx) Ezr 9:12 Nunc ergo filias vestras ne detis filiis eorum, et filias eorum ne accipiatis filiis vestris, et non quæratis pacem eorum et prosperitatem eorum usque in æternum: ut confortemini, et comedatis quæ bona sunt terræ, et hæredes habeatis filios vestros usque in sæculum.(vulgate) Ezra 9:12 Now therfore shal ye not giue your daughters vnto their sonnes, neither shall ye take their daughters vnto your sonnes, nor seeke their peace nor wealth for euer, that yee may be strong and eate the goodnes of the lande, and leaue it for an inheritance to your sonnes for euer.(Geneva) Ezr 9:12 So sollt ihr nun eure Töchter nicht geben ihren Söhnen, und ihre Töchter sollt ihr euren Söhnen nicht nehmen; und sucht nicht ihren Frieden noch ihr Gutes ewiglich, auf daß ihr mächtig werdet und esset das Gute im Lande und vererbt es auf eure Kinder ewiglich.(dhs) Ezr 9:12 Now therefore, do not give your daughters as wives for their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons; and never seek their peace or prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land, and leave it as an inheritance to your children forever.'(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:13 ============ Ezr 9:13 After all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and our great guilt, since You our God have requited us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us an escaped remnant as this,(nas) Ezr 9:13 καὶ μετὰ πᾶν τὸ ἐρχόμενον ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς ἐν ποιήμασιν ἡμῶν τοῖς πονηροῖς καὶ ἐν πλημμελείᾳ ἡμῶν τῇ μεγάλῃ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ὡς ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ὅτι ἐκούφισας ἡμῶν τὰς ἀνομίας καὶ ἔδωκας ἡμῖν σωτηρίαν (lxx) Ezr 9:13 Et post omnia quæ venerunt super nos in operibus nostris pessimis, et in delicto nostro magno, quia tu, Deus noster, liberasti nos de iniquitate nostra, et dedisti nobis salutem sicut est hodie,(vulgate) Ezra 9:13 And after all that is come vpon vs for our euill deedes, and for our great trespasses, (seeing that thou our God hast stayed vs from being beneath for our iniquities, and hast giuen vs such deliuerance)(Geneva) Ezr 9:13 Und nach dem allem, was über uns gekommen ist um unsrer bösen Werke großer Schuld willen, hast du, unser Gott, unsre Missetat verschont und hast uns eine Errettung gegeben, wie es da steht.(dhs) Ezr 9:13 And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this,(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:14 ============ Ezr 9:14 shall we again break Your commandments and intermarry with the peoples who commit these abominations? Would You not be angry with us to the point of destruction, until there is no remnant nor any who escape?(nas) Ezr 9:14 ὅτι ἐπεστρέψαμεν διασκεδάσαι ἐντολάς σου καὶ ἐπιγαμβρεῦσαι τοῖς λαοῖς τῶν γαιῶν μὴ παροξυνθῇς ἐν ἡμῖν ἕως συντελείας τοῦ μὴ εἶναι ἐγκατάλειμμα καὶ διασῳζόμενον (lxx) Ezr 9:14 ut non converteremur, et irrita faceremus mandata tua, neque matrimonia jungeremus cum populis abominationum istarum. Numquid iratus es nobis usque ad consummationem, ne dimitteres nobis reliquias ad salutem?(vulgate) Ezra 9:14 Should we returne to breake thy commadements, and ioyne in affinitie with the people of such abominations? wouldest not thou be angrie towarde vs till thou haddest consumed vs, so that there should be no remnant nor any escaping?(Geneva) Ezr 9:14 Sollten wir wiederum deine Gebote lassen fahren, daß wir uns mit den Völkern dieser Greuel befreundeten? Wirst du nicht über uns zürnen, bis daß es ganz aus sei, daß nichts Übriges noch keine Errettung sei?(dhs) Ezr 9:14 should we again break Your commandments, and join in marriage with the people committing these abominations? Would You not be angry with us until You had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant or survivor?(nkjv) ======= Ezra 9:15 ============ Ezr 9:15 O Lord God of Israel, You are righteous, for we have been left an escaped remnant, as it is this day; behold, we are before You in our guilt, for no one can stand before You because of this." (nas) Ezr 9:15 κύριε ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ δίκαιος σύ ὅτι κατελείφθημεν διασῳζόμενοι ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς ἐναντίον σου ἐν πλημμελείαις ἡμῶν ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν στῆναι ἐνώπιόν σου ἐπὶ τούτῳ (lxx) Ezr 9:15 Domine Deus Israël, justus es tu: quoniam derelicti sumus, qui salvaremur sicut die hac.
