Today's Date: ======= Ezekiel 31:1 ============ Eze 31:1 In the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first of the month, the word of the Lord came to me saying, (nas) Eze 31:1 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἑνδεκάτῳ ἔτει ἐν τῷ τρίτῳ μηνὶ μιᾷ τοῦ μηνὸς ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρός με λέγων (lxx) Eze 31:1 Et factum est in anno undecimo, tertio mense, una mensis: factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens:(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:1 And in the eleuenth yeere, in the third moneth, and in the first day of the moneth the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,(Geneva) Eze 31:1 Und es begab sich im elften jahr, am ersten Tage des dritten Monats, geschah des HERRN Wort zu mir und sprach:(dhs) Eze 31:1 Now it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying,(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:2 ============ Eze 31:2 "Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his hordes, 'Whom are you like in your greatness? (nas) Eze 31:2 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου εἰπὸν πρὸς Φαραω βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου καὶ τῷ πλήθει αὐτοῦ τίνι ὡμοίωσας σεαυτὸν ἐν τῷ ὕψει σου (lxx) Eze 31:2 Fili hominis, dic Pharaoni regi Ægypti et populo ejus: [Cui similis factus es in magnitudine tua?(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:2 Sonne of man, speake vnto Pharaoh King of Egypt, and to his multitude, Whom art thou like in thy greatnesse?(Geneva) Eze 31:2 Du Menschenkind, sage zu Pharao, dem König von Ägypten, und zu allem seinem Volk: Wem meinst du denn, daß du gleich seist in deiner Herrlichkeit?(dhs) Eze 31:2 "Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his multitude: 'Whom are you like in your greatness?(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:3 ============ Eze 31:3 'Behold, Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon With beautiful branches and forest shade, And very high, And its top was among the clouds. (nas) Eze 31:3 ἰδοὺ Ασσουρ κυπάρισσος ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ καὶ καλὸς ταῖς παραφυάσιν καὶ ὑψηλὸς τῷ μεγέθει εἰς μέσον νεφελῶν ἐγένετο ἡ ἀρχὴ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Eze 31:3 ecce Assur quasi cedrus in Libano, pulcher ramis, et frondibus nemorosus, excelsusque altitudine, et inter condensas frondes elevatum est cacumen ejus.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:3 Beholde, Asshur was like a cedar in Lebanon with faire branches, & with thicke shadowing boughes, and shot vp very hye, and his toppe was among the thicke boughes.(Geneva) Eze 31:3 Siehe, Assur war wie ein Zedernbaum auf dem Libanon, von schönen Ästen und dick von Laub und sehr hoch, daß sein Wipfel hoch stand unter großen, dichten Zweigen.(dhs) Eze 31:3 Indeed Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon, With fine branches that shaded the forest, And of high stature; And its top was among the thick boughs.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:4 ============ Eze 31:4 'The waters made it grow, the deep made it high. With its rivers it continually extended all around its planting place, And sent out its channels to all the trees of the field. (nas) Eze 31:4 ὕδωρ ἐξέθρεψεν αὐτόν ἡ ἄβυσσος ὕψωσεν αὐτόν τοὺς ποταμοὺς αὐτῆς ἤγαγεν κύκλῳ τῶν φυτῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ συστέματα αὐτῆς ἐξαπέστειλεν εἰς πάντα τὰ ξύλα τοῦ πεδίου (lxx) Eze 31:4 Aquæ nutrierunt illum; abyssus exaltavit illum: flumina ejus manabant in circuitu radicum ejus, et rivos suos emisit ad universa ligna regionis.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:4 The waters nourished him, and the deepe exalted him on hie with her riuers running round about his plants, and sent out her litle riuers vnto all the trees of the fielde.(Geneva) Eze 31:4 Die Wasser machten, daß er groß ward, und die Tiefe, daß er hoch wuchs. Ihre Ströme gingen rings um seinen Stamm her und ihre Bäche zu allen Bäumen im Felde.(dhs) Eze 31:4 The waters made it grow; Underground waters gave it height, With their rivers running around the place where it was planted, And sent out rivulets to all the trees of the field.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:5 ============ Eze 31:5 'Therefore its height was loftier than all the trees of the field And its boughs became many and its branches long Because of many waters as it spread them out. (nas) Eze 31:5 ἕνεκεν τούτου ὑψώθη τὸ μέγεθος αὐτοῦ παρὰ πάντα τὰ ξύλα τοῦ πεδίου καὶ ἐπλατύνθησαν οἱ κλάδοι αὐτοῦ ἀφ᾽ ὕδατος πολλοῦ (lxx) Eze 31:5 Propterea elevata est altitudo ejus super omnia ligna regionis, et multiplicata sunt arbusta ejus, et elevati sunt rami ejus præ aquis multis.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:5 Therefore his height was exalted aboue all the trees of the fielde, and his boughes were multiplied, and his branches were long, because of the multitude of the waters, which the deepe sent out.(Geneva) Eze 31:5 Darum ist er höher geworden als alle Bäume im Felde und kriegte viel Äste und lange Zweige; denn er hatte Wasser genug, sich auszubreiten.(dhs) Eze 31:5 'Therefore its height was exalted above all the trees of the field; Its boughs were multiplied, And its branches became long because of the abundance of water, As it sent them out.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:6 ============ Eze 31:6 'All the birds of the heavens nested in its boughs, And under its branches all the beasts of the field gave birth, And all great nations lived under its shade. (nas) Eze 31:6 ἐν ταῖς παραφυάσιν αὐτοῦ ἐνόσσευσαν πάντα τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ὑποκάτω τῶν κλάδων αὐτοῦ ἐγεννῶσαν πάντα τὰ θηρία τοῦ πεδίου ἐν τῇ σκιᾷ αὐτοῦ κατῴκησεν πᾶν πλῆθος ἐθνῶν (lxx) Eze 31:6 Cumque extendisset umbram suam, in ramis ejus fecerunt nidos omnia volatilia cæli: et sub frondibus ejus genuerunt omnes bestiæ saltuum, et sub umbraculo illius habitabat cœtus gentium plurimarum.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:6 All the foules of the heauen made their nestes in his boughes, and vnder his branches did all the beastes of the fielde bring foorth their yong, and vnder his shadowe dwelt all mightie nations.(Geneva) Eze 31:6 Alle Vögel des Himmels nisteten auf seinen Ästen, und alle Tiere im Felde hatten Junge unter seinen Zweigen; und unter seinem Schatten wohnten alle großen Völker.(dhs) Eze 31:6 All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs; Under its branches all the beasts of the field brought forth their young; And in its shadow all great nations made their home.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:7 ============ Eze 31:7 'So it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; For its roots extended to many waters. (nas) Eze 31:7 καὶ ἐγένετο καλὸς ἐν τῷ ὕψει αὐτοῦ διὰ τὸ πλῆθος τῶν κλάδων αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἐγενήθησαν αἱ ῥίζαι αὐτοῦ εἰς ὕδωρ πολύ (lxx) Eze 31:7 Eratque pulcherrimus in magnitudine sua, et in dilatatione arbustorum suorum: erat enim radix illius juxta aquas multas.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:7 Thus was he faire in his greatnesse, and in the length of his branches: for his roote was neere great waters.(Geneva) Eze 31:7 Er hatte schöne, große und lange Äste; denn seine Wurzeln hatten viel Wasser.(dhs) Eze 31:7 'Thus it was beautiful in greatness and in the length of its branches, Because its roots reached to abundant waters.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:8 ============ Eze 31:8 'The cedars in God's garden could not match it; The cypresses could not compare with its boughs, And the plane trees could not match its branches. No tree in God's garden could compare with it in its beauty. (nas) Eze 31:8 κυπάρισσοι τοιαῦται οὐκ ἐγενήθησαν ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ πίτυες οὐχ ὅμοιαι ταῖς παραφυάσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐλάται οὐκ ἐγένοντο ὅμοιαι τοῖς κλάδοις αὐτοῦ πᾶν ξύλον ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ τοῦ θεοῦ οὐχ ὡμοιώθη αὐτῷ ἐν τῷ κάλλει αὐτοῦ (lxx) Eze 31:8 Cedri non fuerunt altiores illo in paradiso Dei; abietes non adæquaverunt summitatem ejus, et platani non fuerunt æquæ frondibus illius: omne lignum paradisi Dei non est assimilatum illi, et pulchritudini ejus.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:8 The cedars in the garden of God coulde not hide him: no firre tree was like his branches, and the chessenut trees were not like his boughes: all the trees in the garden of God were not like vnto him in his beautie.(Geneva) Eze 31:8 Und war ihm kein Zedernbaum gleich in Gottes Garten, und die Tannenbäume waren seinen Ästen nicht zu vergleichen, und die Kastanienbäume waren nichts gegen seine Zweige. Ja, er war so schön wie kein Baum im Garten Gottes.(dhs) Eze 31:8 The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it; The fir trees were not like its boughs, And the chestnut trees were not like its branches; No tree in the garden of God was like it in beauty.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:9 ============ Eze 31:9 'I made it beautiful with the multitude of its branches, And all the trees of Eden, which were in the garden of God, were jealous of it. (nas) Eze 31:9 διὰ τὸ πλῆθος τῶν κλάδων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐζήλωσεν αὐτὸν τὰ ξύλα τοῦ παραδείσου τῆς τρυφῆς τοῦ θεοῦ (lxx) Eze 31:9 Quoniam speciosum feci eum, et multis condensisque frondibus, et æmulata sunt eum omnia ligna voluptatis quæ erant in paradiso Dei.]~(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:9 I made him faire by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, enuied him.(Geneva) Eze 31:9 Ich hatte ihn so schön gemacht, daß er so viel Äste kriegte, daß ihn alle lustigen Bäume im Garten Gottes neideten.(dhs) Eze 31:9 I made it beautiful with a multitude of branches, So that all the trees of Eden envied it, That were in the garden of God.'(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:10 ============ Eze 31:10 'Therefore thus says the Lord God, "Because it is high in stature and has set its top among the clouds, and its heart is haughty in its loftiness, (nas) Eze 31:10 διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ἀνθ᾽ ὧν ἐγένου μέγας τῷ μεγέθει καὶ ἔδωκας τὴν ἀρχήν σου εἰς μέσον νεφελῶν καὶ εἶδον ἐν τῷ ὑψωθῆναι αὐτόν (lxx) Eze 31:10 [Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus: Pro eo quod sublimatus est in altitudine, et dedit summitatem suam virentem atque condensam, et elevatum est cor ejus in altitudine sua:(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:10 Therefore thus sayeth the Lorde God, Because he is lift vp on high, and hath shot vp his toppe among the thicke boughes, and his heart is lift vp in his height,(Geneva) Eze 31:10 Darum spricht der HERR HERR also: Weil er so hoch geworden ist, daß sein Wipfel stand unter großen, hohen, dichten Zweigen, und sein Herz sich erhob, daß er so hoch geworden war,(dhs) Eze 31:10 "Therefore thus says the Lord God: 'Because you have increased in height, and it set its top among the thick boughs, and its heart was lifted up in its height,(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:11 ============ Eze 31:11 therefore I will give it into the hand of a despot of the nations; he will thoroughly deal with it. According to its wickedness I have driven it away. (nas) Eze 31:11 καὶ παρέδωκα αὐτὸν εἰς χεῖρας ἄρχοντος ἐθνῶν καὶ ἐποίησεν τὴν ἀπώλειαν αὐτοῦ (lxx) Eze 31:11 tradidi eum in manu fortissimi gentium: faciens faciet ei: juxta impietatem ejus ejeci eum.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:11 I haue therefore deliuered him into the handes of the mightiest among the heathen: he shall handle him, for I haue cast him away for his wickednesse.(Geneva) Eze 31:11 darum gab ich ihn dem Mächtigen unter den Heiden in die Hände, daß der mit ihm umginge und ihn vertriebe, wie er verdient hat mit seinem gottlosen Wesen,(dhs) Eze 31:11 therefore I will deliver it into the hand of the mighty one of the nations, and he shall surely deal with it; I have driven it out for its wickedness.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:12 ============ Eze 31:12 Alien tyrants of the nations have cut it down and left it; on the mountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen and its boughs have been broken in all the ravines of the land. And all the peoples of the earth have gone down from its shade and left it. (nas) Eze 31:12 καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσαν αὐτὸν ἀλλότριοι λοιμοὶ ἀπὸ ἐθνῶν καὶ κατέβαλον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῶν ὀρέων ἐν πάσαις ταῖς φάραγξιν ἔπεσαν οἱ κλάδοι αὐτοῦ καὶ συνετρίβη τὰ στελέχη αὐτοῦ ἐν παντὶ πεδίῳ τῆς γῆς καὶ κατέβησαν ἀπὸ τῆς σκέπης αὐτῶν πάντες οἱ λαοὶ τῶν ἐθνῶν καὶ ἠδάφισαν αὐτόν (lxx) Eze 31:12 Et succident eum alieni, et crudelissimi nationum, et projicient eum super montes: et in cunctis convallibus corruent rami ejus, et confringentur arbusta ejus in universis rupibus terræ: et recedent de umbraculo ejus omnes populi terræ, et relinquent eum.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:12 And the strangers haue destroyed him, euen the terrible nations, and they haue left him vpon the mountaines, and in all the valleis his branches are fallen, and his boughes are broken by all the riuers of the land: and all the people of the earth are departed from his shadowe, and haue forsaken him.(Geneva) Eze 31:12 daß Fremde ihn ausrotten sollten, nämlich die Tyrannen der Heiden, und ihn zerstreuen, und seine Äste auf den Bergen und in allen Tälern liegen mußten und seine Zweige zerbrachen an allen Bächen im Lande; daß alle Völker auf Erden von seinem Schatten wegziehen mußten und ihn verlassen;(dhs) Eze 31:12 And aliens, the most terrible of the nations, have cut it down and left it; its branches have fallen on the mountains and in all the valleys; its boughs lie broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the peoples of the earth have gone from under its shadow and left it.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:13 ============ Eze 31:13 On its ruin all the birds of the heavens will dwell, and all the beasts of the field will be on its fallen branches(nas) Eze 31:13 ἐπὶ τὴν πτῶσιν αὐτοῦ ἀνεπαύσαντο πάντα τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ στελέχη αὐτοῦ ἐγένοντο πάντα τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ (lxx) Eze 31:13 In ruina ejus habitaverunt omnia volatilia cæli, et in ramis ejus fuerunt universæ bestiæ regionis.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:13 Vpon his ruine shall all the foules of the heauen remaine, and all the beastes of the fielde shall be vpon his branches,(Geneva) Eze 31:13 und alle Vögel des Himmels auf seinem umgefallenen Stamm saßen und alle Tiere im Felde sich legten auf seine Äste;(dhs) Eze 31:13 'On its ruin will remain all the birds of the heavens, And all the beasts of the field will come to its branches--(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:14 ============ Eze 31:14 so that all the trees by the waters may not be exalted in their stature, nor set their top among the clouds, nor their well-watered mighty ones stand erect in their height. For they have all been given over to death, to the earth beneath, among the sons of men, with those who go down to the pit."(nas) Eze 31:14 ὅπως μὴ ὑψωθῶσιν ἐν τῷ μεγέθει αὐτῶν πάντα τὰ ξύλα τὰ ἐν τῷ ὕδατι καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκαν τὴν ἀρχὴν αὐτῶν εἰς μέσον νεφελῶν καὶ οὐκ ἔστησαν ἐν τῷ ὕψει αὐτῶν πρὸς αὐτὰ πάντες οἱ πίνοντες ὕδωρ πάντες ἐδόθησαν εἰς θάνατον εἰς γῆς βάθος ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν ἀνθρώπων πρὸς καταβαίνοντας εἰς βόθρον (lxx) Eze 31:14 Quam ob rem non elevabuntur in altitudine sua omnia ligna aquarum, nec ponent sublimitatem suam inter nemorosa atque frondosa, nec stabunt in sublimitate sua omnia quæ irrigantur aquis: quia omnes traditi sunt in mortem ad terram ultimam, in medio filiorum hominum, ad eos qui descendunt in lacum.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:14 So that none of all the trees by the waters shalbe exalted by their height, neither shall shoote vp their toppe among the thicke boughes, neither shall their leaues stand vp in their height, which drinke so much water: for they are all deliuered vnto death in the nether partes of the earth in the middes of the children of men among them that goe downe to the pit.(Geneva) Eze 31:14 auf daß sich forthin kein Baum am Wasser seiner Höhe überhebe, daß sein Wipfel unter großen, dichten Zweigen stehe, und kein Baum am Wasser sich erhebe über die andern; denn sie müssen alle unter die Erde und dem Tod übergeben werden wie andere Menschen, die in die Grube fahren.(dhs) Eze 31:14 So that no trees by the waters may ever again exalt themselves for their height, nor set their tops among the thick boughs, that no tree which drinks water may ever be high enough to reach up to them. 'For they have all been delivered to death, To the depths of the earth, Among the children of men who go down to the Pit.'(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:15 ============ Eze 31:15 'Thus says the Lord God, "On the day when it went down to Sheol I caused lamentations; I closed the deep over it and held back its rivers. And its many waters were stopped up, and I made Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field wilted away on account of it. (nas) Eze 31:15 τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος ἐν ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ κατέβη εἰς ᾅδου ἐπένθησεν αὐτὸν ἡ ἄβυσσος καὶ ἐπέστησα τοὺς ποταμοὺς αὐτῆς καὶ ἐκώλυσα πλῆθος ὕδατος καὶ ἐσκότασεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ὁ Λίβανος πάντα τὰ ξύλα τοῦ πεδίου ἐπ᾽ αὐτῷ ἐξελύθησαν (lxx) Eze 31:15 Hæc dicit Dominus Deus: In die quando descendit ad inferos, induxi luctum: operui eum abysso, et prohibui flumina ejus, et coërcui aquas multas: contristatus est super eum Libanus, et omnia ligna agri concussa sunt.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:15 Thus saith the Lord God, In the day when he went downe to hell, I caused them to mourne, and I couered the deepe for him, and I did restreine the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: I caused Lebanon to mourne for him, and all the trees of the fielde fainted.(Geneva) Eze 31:15 So spricht der HERR HERR: Zu der Zeit, da er hinunter in die Hölle fuhr, da machte ich ein Trauern, daß ihn die Tiefe bedeckte und seine Ströme stillstehen mußten und die großen Wasser nicht laufen konnten; und machte, daß der Libanon um ihn trauerte und alle Feldbäume verdorrten über ihm.(dhs) Eze 31:15 "Thus says the Lord God: 'In the day when it went down to hell, I caused mourning. I covered the deep because of it. I restrained its rivers, and the great waters were held back. I caused Lebanon to mourn for it, and all the trees of the field wilted because of it.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:16 ============ Eze 31:16 I made the nations quake at the sound of its fall when I made it go down to Sheol with those who go down to the pit; and all the well-watered trees of Eden, the choicest and best of Lebanon, were comforted in the earth beneath. (nas) Eze 31:16 ἀπὸ τῆς φωνῆς τῆς πτώσεως αὐτοῦ ἐσείσθησαν τὰ ἔθνη ὅτε κατεβίβαζον αὐτὸν εἰς ᾅδου μετὰ τῶν καταβαινόντων εἰς λάκκον καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἐν γῇ πάντα τὰ ξύλα τῆς τρυφῆς καὶ τὰ ἐκλεκτὰ τοῦ Λιβάνου πάντα τὰ πίνοντα ὕδωρ (lxx) Eze 31:16 A sonitu ruinæ ejus commovi gentes cum deducerem eum ad infernum cum his qui descendebant in lacum: et consolata sunt in terra infima omnia ligna voluptatis egregia atque præclara in Libano, universa quæ irrigabantur aquis.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him downe to hell with them that descend into the pit, & all the excellent trees of Eden, and the best of Lebanon: euen all that are nourished with waters, shall be comforted in the nether partes of the earth.(Geneva) Eze 31:16 Ich erschreckte die Heiden, da sie ihn hörten fallen, da ich ihn hinunterließ zur Hölle, zu denen, so in die Grube gefahren sind. Und alle lustigen Bäume unter der Erde, die edelsten und besten auf dem Libanon, und alle, die am Wasser gestanden hatten, gönnten's ihm wohl.(dhs) Eze 31:16 I made the nations shake at the sound of its fall, when I cast it down to hell together with those who descend into the Pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the depths of the earth.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:17 ============ Eze 31:17 They also went down with it to Sheol to those who were slain by the sword; and those who were its strength lived under its shade among the nations. (nas) Eze 31:17 καὶ γὰρ αὐτοὶ κατέβησαν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἰς ᾅδου ἐν τοῖς τραυματίαις ἀπὸ μαχαίρας καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ οἱ κατοικοῦντες ὑπὸ τὴν σκέπην αὐτοῦ ἐν μέσῳ τῆς ζωῆς αὐτῶν ἀπώλοντο (lxx) Eze 31:17 Nam et ipsi cum eo descendent in infernum ad interfectos gladio: et brachium uniuscujusque sedebit sub umbraculo ejus in medio nationum.(vulgate) Ezekiel 31:17 They also went downe to hell with him vnto them that be slaine with the sworde, and his arme, and they that dwelt vnder his shadowe in the middes of the heathen.(Geneva) Eze 31:17 Denn sie mußten auch mit ihm hinunter zur Hölle, zu den Erschlagenen mit dem Schwert, weil sie unter dem Schatten seines Arms gewohnt hatten unter den Heiden.(dhs) Eze 31:17 They also went down to hell with it, with those slain by the sword; and those who were its strong arm dwelt in its shadows among the nations.(nkjv) ======= Ezekiel 31:18 ============ Eze 31:18 "To which among the trees of Eden are you thus equal in glory and greatness? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the earth beneath; you will lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who were slain by the sword. So is Pharaoh and all his hordes!"' declares the Lord God."
