And I said, "A basket of summer fruit." Then the Lord said to me, "The end has come for My people Israel. I will spare them no longer. (nas) Amo 8:2 καὶ εἶπεν τί σὺ βλέπεις Αμως καὶ εἶπα ἄγγος ἰξευτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με ἥκει τὸ πέρας ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου Ισραηλ οὐκέτι μὴ προσθῶ τοῦ παρελθεῖν αὐτόν (lxx) Amo 8:2 Et dixit: Quid tu vides, Amos? Et dixi: Uncinum pomorum. Et dixit Dominus ad me: [Venit finis super populum meum Israël; non adjiciam ultra ut pertranseam eum.(vulgate) Amos 8:2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I sayd, A basket of sommer fruite. Then sayd the Lorde vnto me, The ende is come vpon my people of Israel, I wil passe by them no more.(Geneva) Amo 8:2 Und er sprach: Was siehst du, Amo Ich aber antwortete: Einen Korb mit reifem Obst. Da sprach der HERR zu mir: Das Ende ist gekommen über mein Volk Israel; ich will ihm nichts mehr übersehen.(dhs) Amo 8:2 And He said, "Amos, what do you see?" So I said, "A basket of summer fruit." Then the Lord said to me: "The end has come upon My people Israel; I will not pass by them anymore.(nkjv) ======= Amos 8:3 ============ Amo 8:3 The songs of the palace will turn to wailing in that day," declares the Lord God. "Many will be the corpses; in every place they will cast them forth in silence."(nas) Amo 8:3 καὶ ὀλολύξει τὰ φατνώματα τοῦ ναοῦ ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ λέγει κύριος πολὺς ὁ πεπτωκὼς ἐν παντὶ τόπῳ ἐπιρρίψω σιωπήν (lxx) Amo 8:3 Et stridebunt cardines templi in die illa, dicit Dominus Deus: multi morientur; in omni loco projicietur silentium.]~(vulgate) Amos 8:3 And the songs of the Temple shalbe howlings in that day, saith the Lord God: many dead bodies shalbe in euery place: they shall cast them forth with silence.(Geneva) Amo 8:3 Und die Lieder in dem Palaste sollen in ein Heulen verkehrt werden zur selben Zeit, spricht der HERR HERR; es werden viele Leichname liegen an allen Orten, die man in der Stille hinwerfen wird.(dhs) Amo 8:3 And the songs of the temple Shall be wailing in that day," Says the Lord God-- "Many dead bodies everywhere, They shall be thrown out in silence."(nkjv) ======= Amos 8:4 ============ Amo 8:4 Hear this, you who trample the needy, to do away with the humble of the land, (nas) Amo 8:4 ἀκούσατε δὴ ταῦτα οἱ ἐκτρίβοντες εἰς τὸ πρωὶ πένητα καὶ καταδυναστεύοντες πτωχοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς (lxx) Amo 8:4 [Audite hoc, qui conteritis pauperem, et deficere facitis egenos terræ,(vulgate) Amos 8:4 Heare this, O yee that swallowe vp the poore, that ye may make the needie of the lande to fayle,(Geneva) Amo 8:4 Hört dies, die ihr den Armen unterdrückt und die Elenden im Lande verderbt(dhs) Amo 8:4 Hear this, you who swallow up the needy, And make the poor of the land fail,(nkjv) ======= Amos 8:5 ============ Amo 8:5 saying, "When will the new moon be over, So that we may sell grain, And the sabbath, that we may open the wheat market, To make the bushel smaller and the shekel bigger, And to cheat with dishonest scales, (nas) Amo 8:5 οἱ λέγοντες πότε διελεύσεται ὁ μὴν καὶ ἐμπολήσομεν καὶ τὰ σάββατα καὶ ἀνοίξομεν θησαυροὺς τοῦ ποιῆσαι μικρὸν μέτρον καὶ τοῦ μεγαλῦναι στάθμια καὶ ποιῆσαι ζυγὸν ἄδικον (lxx) Amo 8:5 dicentes: Quando transibit mensis, et venundabimus merces? et sabbatum, et aperiemus frumentum, ut imminuamus mensuram, et augeamus siclum, et supponamus stateras dolosas,(vulgate) Amos 8:5 Saying, When will the newe moneth bee gone, that we may sell corne? and the Sabbath, that we may set forth wheate, and make the Ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifie the weights by deceit?(Geneva) Amo 8:5 und sprecht: "Wann will denn der Neumond ein Ende haben, daß wir Getreide verkaufen, und der Sabbat, daß wir Korn feilhaben mögen und das Maß verringern und den Preis steigern und die Waage fälschen,(dhs) Amo 8:5 Saying: "When will the New Moon be past, That we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, That we may trade wheat? Making the ephah small and the shekel large, Falsifying the scales by deceit,(nkjv) ======= Amos 8:6 ============ Amo 8:6 So as to buy the helpless for money And the needy for a pair of sandals, And that we may sell the refuse of the wheat?"(nas) Amo 8:6 τοῦ κτᾶσθαι ἐν ἀργυρίῳ πτωχοὺς καὶ ταπεινὸν ἀντὶ ὑποδημάτων καὶ ἀπὸ παντὸς γενήματος ἐμπορευσόμεθα (lxx) Amo 8:6 ut possideamus in argento egenos et pauperes pro calceamentis, et quisquilias frumenti vendamus?(vulgate) Amos 8:6 That we may buy the poore for siluer, and the needie for shooes: yea, and sell the refuse of the wheate.(Geneva) Amo 8:6 auf daß wir die Armen um Geld und die Dürftigen um ein Paar Schuhe unter uns bringen und Spreu für Korn verkaufen?"(dhs) Amo 8:6 That we may buy the poor for silver, And the needy for a pair of sandals-- Even sell the bad wheat?"(nkjv) ======= Amos 8:7 ============ Amo 8:7 The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob, "Indeed, I will never forget any of their deeds. Indeed, all of it will rise up like the Nile, And it will be tossed about And subside like the Nile of Egypt. (nas) Amo 8:8 καὶ ἐπὶ τούτοις οὐ ταραχθήσεται ἡ γῆ καὶ πενθήσει πᾶς ὁ κατοικῶν ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ ἀναβήσεται ὡς ποταμὸς συντέλεια καὶ καταβήσεται ὡς ποταμὸς Αἰγύπτου (lxx) Amo 8:8 Numquid super isto non commovebitur terra, et lugebit omnis habitator ejus, et ascendet quasi fluvius universus, et ejicicetur, et defluet, quasi rivus Ægypti?(vulgate) Amos 8:8 Shall not the lande tremble for this, and euery one mourne, that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise vp wholy as a flood, and it shall bee cast out, and drowned as by the flood of Egypt.(Geneva) Amo 8:8 Sollte nicht um solches willen das ganze Land erbeben müssen und alle Einwohner trauern? Ja, es soll ganz wie mit einem Wasser überlaufen werden und weggeführt und überschwemmt werden wie mit dem Fluß Ägyptens.(dhs) Amo 8:8 Shall the land not tremble for this, And everyone mourn who dwells in it? All of it shall swell like the River, Heave and subside Like the River of Egypt.(nkjv) ======= Amos 8:9 ============ Amo 8:9 "It will come about in that day," declares the Lord God, "That I will make the sun go down at noon And make the earth dark in broad daylight. (nas) Amo 8:9 καὶ ἔσται ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ λέγει κύριος ὁ θεός καὶ δύσεται ὁ ἥλιος μεσημβρίας καὶ συσκοτάσει ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τὸ φῶς (lxx) Amo 8:9 Et erit in die illa, dicit Dominus Deus: occidet sol in meridie, et tenebrescere faciam terram in die luminis:(vulgate) Amos 8:9 And in that day, saith the Lorde God, I will euen cause the sunne to go downe at noone: and I will darken the earth in the cleare day.(Geneva) Amo 8:9 Zur selben Zeit, spricht der HERR HERR, will ich die Sonne am Mittag untergehen lassen und das Land am hellen Tage lassen finster werden.(dhs) Amo 8:9 "And it shall come to pass in that day," says the Lord God, "That I will make the sun go down at noon, And I will darken the earth in broad daylight;(nkjv) ======= Amos 8:10 ============ Amo 8:10 "Then I will turn your festivals into mourning And all your songs into lamentation; And I will bring sackcloth on everyone's loins And baldness on every head. And I will make it like a time of mourning for an only son, And the end of it will be like a bitter day. (nas) Amo 8:10 καὶ μεταστρέψω τὰς ἑορτὰς ὑμῶν εἰς πένθος καὶ πάσας τὰς ᾠδὰς ὑμῶν εἰς θρῆνον καὶ ἀναβιβῶ ἐπὶ πᾶσαν ὀσφὺν σάκκον καὶ ἐπὶ πᾶσαν κεφαλὴν φαλάκρωμα καὶ θήσομαι αὐτὸν ὡς πένθος ἀγαπητοῦ καὶ τοὺς μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ὡς ἡμέραν ὀδύνης (lxx) Amo 8:10 et convertam festivitates vestras in luctum, et omnia cantica vestra in planctum, et inducam super omne dorsum vestrum saccum, et super omne caput calvitium: et ponam eam quasi luctum unigeniti, et novissima ejus quasi diem amarum.(vulgate) Amos 8:10 And I will turne your feastes into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation: and I will bring sackcloth vpon all loynes, and baldnes vpon euery head: and I will make it as the mourning of an onely sonne, and the ende thereof as a bitter day.(Geneva) Amo 8:10 Ich will eure Feiertage in Trauern und alle eure Lieder in Wehklagen verwandeln; ich will über alle Lenden den Sack binden und alle Köpfe kahl machen, und will ihnen ein Trauern schaffen, wie man über einen einzigen Sohn hat; und sie sollen ein jämmerlich Ende nehmen.(dhs) Amo 8:10 I will turn your feasts into mourning, And all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth on every waist, And baldness on every head; I will make it like mourning for an only son, And its end like a bitter day.(nkjv) ======= Amos 8:11 ============ Amo 8:11 "Behold, days are coming," declares the Lord God, "When I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, But rather for hearing the words of the Lord. Then I will slay the rest of them with the sword; They will not have a fugitive who will flee, Or a refugee who will escape.
