Today's Date: ======= Ecclesiastes 6:1 ============ Ecl 6:1 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun and it is prevalent among men-- (nasb) Ecl 6:1 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: (nkjv) Ecl 6:1 Es ist ein Unglück, das ich sah unter der Sonne, und ist gemein bei den Menschen:(dhs) Ecl 6:1 ἔστιν πονηρία ἣν εἶδον ὑπὸ τὸν ἥλιον καὶ πολλή ἐστιν ἐπὶ τὸν ἄνθρωπον (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:2 ============ Ecl 6:2 a man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor so that his soul lacks nothing of all that he desires; yet God has not empowered him to eat from them, for a foreigner enjoys them. This is vanity and a severe affliction. (nasb) Ecl 6:2 A man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor, so that he lacks nothing for himself of all he desires; yet God does not give him power to eat of it, but a foreigner consumes it. This is vanity, and it is an evil affliction. (nkjv) Ecl 6:2 einer, dem Gott Reichtum, Güter und Ehre gegeben hat und mangelt ihm keins, das sein Herz begehrt; und Gott gibt doch ihm nicht Macht, es zu genießen, sondern ein anderer verzehrt es; das ist eitel und ein böses Übel.(dhs) Ecl 6:2 ἀνήρ ᾧ δώσει αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς πλοῦτον καὶ ὑπάρχοντα καὶ δόξαν καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ὑστερῶν τῇ ψυχῇ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ πάντων ὧν ἐπιθυμήσει καὶ οὐκ ἐξουσιάσει αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς τοῦ φαγεῖν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἀνὴρ ξένος φάγεται αὐτόν τοῦτο ματαιότης καὶ ἀρρωστία πονηρά ἐστιν (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:3 ============ Ecl 6:3 If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, however many they be, but his soul is not satisfied with good things and he does not even have a proper burial, then I say, "Better the miscarriage than he, (nasb) Ecl 6:3 If a man begets a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with goodness, or indeed he has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better than he-- (nkjv) Ecl 6:3 Wenn einer gleich hundert Kinder zeugte und hätte langes Leben, daß er viele Jahre überlebte, und seine Seele sättigte sich des Guten nicht und bliebe ohne Grab, von dem spreche ich, daß eine unzeitige Geburt besser sei denn er.(dhs) Ecl 6:3 ἐὰν γεννήσῃ ἀνὴρ ἑκατὸν καὶ ἔτη πολλὰ ζήσεται καὶ πλῆθος ὅ τι ἔσονται ἡμέραι ἐτῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐμπλησθήσεται ἀπὸ τῆς ἀγαθωσύνης καί γε ταφὴ οὐκ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ εἶπα ἀγαθὸν ὑπὲρ αὐτὸν τὸ ἔκτρωμα (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:4 ============ Ecl 6:4 for it comes in futility and goes into obscurity; and its name is covered in obscurity. (nasb) Ecl 6:4 for it comes in vanity and departs in darkness, and its name is covered with darkness. (nkjv) Ecl 6:4 Denn in Nichtigkeit kommt sie, und in Finsternis fährt sie dahin, und ihr Name bleibt in Finsternis bedeckt,(dhs) Ecl 6:4 ὅτι ἐν ματαιότητι ἦλθεν καὶ ἐν σκότει πορεύεται καὶ ἐν σκότει ὄνομα αὐτοῦ καλυφθήσεται (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:5 ============ Ecl 6:5 It never sees the sun and it never knows anything; it is better off than he. (nasb) Ecl 6:5 Though it has not seen the sun or known anything, this has more rest than that man, (nkjv) Ecl 6:5 auch hat sie die Sonne nicht gesehen noch gekannt; so hat sie mehr Ruhe denn jener.(dhs) Ecl 6:5 καί γε ἥλιον οὐκ εἶδεν καὶ οὐκ ἔγνω ἀνάπαυσις τούτῳ ὑπὲρ τοῦτον (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:6 ============ Ecl 6:6 Even if the other man lives a thousand years twice and does not enjoy good things--do not all go to one place?" (nasb) Ecl 6:6 even if he lives a thousand years twice--but has not seen goodness. Do not all go to one place? (nkjv) Ecl 6:6 Ob er auch zweitausend Jahre lebte, und genösse keines Guten: kommt's nicht alles an einen Ort?(dhs) Ecl 6:6 καὶ εἰ ἔζησεν χιλίων ἐτῶν καθόδους καὶ ἀγαθωσύνην οὐκ εἶδεν μὴ οὐκ εἰς τόπον ἕνα τὰ πάντα πορεύεται (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:7 ============ Ecl 6:7 All a man's labor is for his mouth and yet the appetite is not satisfied. (nasb) Ecl 6:7 All the labor of man is for his mouth, And yet the soul is not satisfied. (nkjv) Ecl 6:7 Alle Arbeit des Menschen ist für seinen Mund; aber doch wird die Seele nicht davon satt.(dhs) Ecl 6:7 πᾶς μόχθος τοῦ ἀνθρώπου εἰς στόμα αὐτοῦ καί γε ἡ ψυχὴ οὐ πληρωθήσεται (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:8 ============ Ecl 6:8 For what advantage does the wise man have over the fool? What advantage does the poor man have, knowing how to walk before the living? (nasb) Ecl 6:8 For what more has the wise man than the fool? What does the poor man have, Who knows how to walk before the living? (nkjv) Ecl 6:8 Denn was hat ein Weiser mehr als ein Narr? Was hilft's den Armen, daß er weiß zu wandeln vor den Lebendigen?(dhs) Ecl 6:8 ὅτι τίς περισσεία τῷ σοφῷ ὑπὲρ τὸν ἄφρονα διότι ὁ πένης οἶδεν πορευθῆναι κατέναντι τῆς ζωῆς (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:9 ============ Ecl 6:9 What the eyes see is better than what the soul desires. This too is futility and a striving after wind. (nasb) Ecl 6:9 Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of desire. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind. (nkjv) Ecl 6:9 Es ist besser, das gegenwärtige Gut gebrauchen, denn nach anderm gedenken. Das ist auch Eitelkeit und Haschen nach Wind.(dhs) Ecl 6:9 ἀγαθὸν ὅραμα ὀφθαλμῶν ὑπὲρ πορευόμενον ψυχῇ καί γε τοῦτο ματαιότης καὶ προαίρεσις πνεύματος (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:10 ============ Ecl 6:10 Whatever exists has already been named, and it is known what man is; for he cannot dispute with him who is stronger than he is. (nasb) Ecl 6:10 Whatever one is, he has been named already, For it is known that he is man; And he cannot contend with Him who is mightier than he. (nkjv) Ecl 6:10 Was da ist, des Name ist zuvor genannt, und es ist bestimmt, was ein Mensch sein wird; und er kann nicht hadern mit dem, der ihm zu mächtig ist.(dhs) Ecl 6:10 εἴ τι ἐγένετο ἤδη κέκληται ὄνομα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγνώσθη ὅ ἐστιν ἄνθρωπος καὶ οὐ δυνήσεται τοῦ κριθῆναι μετὰ τοῦ ἰσχυροῦ ὑπὲρ αὐτόν (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:11 ============ Ecl 6:11 For there are many words which increase futility. What then is the advantage to a man? (nasb) Ecl 6:11 Since there are many things that increase vanity, How is man the better? (nkjv) Ecl 6:11 Denn es ist des eitlen Dinges zuviel; was hat ein Mensch davon?(dhs) Ecl 6:11 ὅτι εἰσὶν λόγοι πολλοὶ πληθύνοντες ματαιότητα τί περισσὸν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ (lxx) ======= Ecclesiastes 6:12 ============ Ecl 6:12 For who knows what is good for a man during his lifetime, during the few years of his futile life? He will spend them like a shadow. For who can tell a man what will be after him under the sun? (nasb) Ecl 6:12 For who knows what is good for man in life, all the days of his vain life which he passes like a shadow? Who can tell a man what will happen after him under the sun? (nkjv) Ecl 6:12 Denn wer weiß, was dem Menschen nütze ist im Leben, solange er lebt in seiner Eitelkeit, welches dahinfährt wie ein Schatten? Oder wer will dem Menschen sagen, was nach ihm kommen wird unter der Sonne?(dhs) Ecl 6:12 ὅτι τίς οἶδεν τί ἀγαθὸν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐν τῇ ζωῇ ἀριθμὸν ἡμερῶν ζωῆς ματαιότητος αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτὰς ἐν σκιᾷ ὅτι τίς ἀπαγγελεῖ τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τί ἔσται ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ ὑπὸ τὸν ἥλιον (lxx) top of the page
