And Joseph's brothers came and bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.(nasb) ======= Genesis 42:7 ============ Gen 42:7 And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.(KJV) Genesis 42:7 And when Ioseph sawe his brethren, hee knewe them, and made himselfe straunge toward them, and spake to them roughly, and saide vnto them, Whence come yee? And he said to them, "Where have you come from?" Par la vie de Pharaon! vous ne sortirez point d'ici que votre jeune frère ne soit venu.(FR) 15 ׃42 בְּזֹ֖את תִּבָּחֵ֑נוּ חֵ֤י פַרְעֹה֙ אִם־תֵּצְא֣וּ מִזֶּ֔ה כִּ֧י אִם־בְּב֛וֹא אֲחִיכֶ֥ם הַקָּטֹ֖ן הֵֽנָּה׃ Genesis Gen 42:15 by this you will be tested: by the life of Pharaoh, you shall not go from this place unless your youngest brother comes here!(nasb) ======= Genesis 42:16 ============ Gen 42:16 Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.(KJV) Genesis 42:16 Send one of you which may fet your brother, & ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proued, whether there bee trueth in you: or els by the life of Pharaoh ye are but spies.(Geneva) Genèse 42:16 Envoyez l'un de vous pour chercher votre frère; et vous, restez prisonniers. Je crains Dieu!(FR) 18 ׃42 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֤ם יוֹסֵף֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י זֹ֥את עֲשׂ֖וּ וִֽחְי֑וּ אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים אֲנִ֥י יָרֵֽא׃ Genesis Gen 42:18 Now Joseph said to them on the third day, "Do this and live, for I fear God:(nasb) ======= Genesis 42:19 ============ Gen 42:19 If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:(KJV) Genesis 42:19 If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bounde in your prison house, and goe ye, carie foode for the famine of your houses:(Geneva) Genèse 42:19 Si vous êtes sincères, que l'un de vos frères reste enfermé dans votre prison; et vous, partez, emportez du blé pour nourrir vos familles,(FR) 19 ׃42 אִם־כֵּנִ֣ים אַתֶּ֔ם אֲחִיכֶ֣ם אֶחָ֔ד יֵאָסֵ֖ר בְּבֵ֣ית מִשְׁמַרְכֶ֑ם וְאַתֶּם֙ לְכ֣וּ הָבִ֔יאוּ שֶׁ֖בֶר רַעֲב֥וֹן בָּתֵּיכֶֽם׃ Genesis Gen 42:19 if you are honest men, let one of your brothers be confined in your prison; but as for the rest of you, go, carry grain for the famine of your households,(nasb) ======= Genesis 42:20 ============ Gen 42:20 But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. Et ils firent ainsi.(FR) 20 ׃42 וְאֶת־אֲחִיכֶ֤ם הַקָּטֹן֙ תָּבִ֣יאוּ אֵלַ֔י וְיֵאָמְנ֥וּ דִבְרֵיכֶ֖ם וְלֹ֣א תָמ֑וּתוּ וַיַּעֲשׂוּ־כֵֽן׃ Genesis Gen 42:20 and bring your youngest brother to me, so your words may be verified, and you will not die." And they did so.(nasb) ======= Genesis 42:21 ============ Gen 42:21 And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.(KJV) Genesis 42:21 And they said one to another, We haue verily sinned against our brother, in that we sawe the anguish of his soule, when he besought vs, and we would not heare him: therefore is this trouble come vpon vs.(Geneva) Genèse 42:21 Ils se dirent alors l'un à l'autre: Oui, nous avons été coupables envers notre frère, car nous avons vu l'angoisse de son âme, quand il nous demandait grâce, et nous ne l'avons point écouté! C'est pour cela que cette affliction nous arrive.(FR) 21 ׃42 וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־אָחִ֗יו אֲבָל֮ אֲשֵׁמִ֣ים ׀ אֲנַחְנוּ֮ עַל־אָחִינוּ֒ אֲשֶׁ֨ר רָאִ֜ינוּ צָרַ֥ת נַפְשׁ֛וֹ בְּהִתְחַֽנְנ֥וֹ אֵלֵ֖ינוּ וְלֹ֣א שָׁמָ֑עְנוּ עַל־כֵּן֙ בָּ֣אָה אֵלֵ֔ינוּ הַצָּרָ֖ה הַזֹּֽאת׃ Genesis Gen 42:21 Then they said to one another, "Truly we are guilty concerning our brother, because we saw the distress of his soul when he pleaded with us, yet we would not listen; therefore this distress has come upon us."(nasb) ======= Genesis 42:22 ============ Gen 42:22 And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.(KJV) Genesis 42:22 And Reuben answered them, saying, Warned I not you, saying, Sinne not against the childe, and ye would not heare? and lo, his blood is now required.(Geneva) Genèse 42:22 Ruben, prenant la parole, leur dit: Ne vous disais-je pas: Ne commettez point un crime envers cet enfant? Mais vous n'avez point écouté. Et voici, son sang est redemandé.(FR) 22 ׃42 וַיַּעַן֩ רְאוּבֵ֨ן אֹתָ֜ם לֵאמֹ֗ר הֲלוֹא֩ אָמַ֨רְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶ֧ם ׀ לֵאמֹ֛ר אַל־תֶּחֶטְא֥וּ בַיֶּ֖לֶד וְלֹ֣א שְׁמַעְתֶּ֑ם וְגַם־דָּמ֖וֹ הִנֵּ֥ה נִדְרָֽשׁ׃ Genesis Gen 42:22 Reuben answered them, saying, "Did I not tell you, 'Do not sin against the boy'; and you would not listen? Now comes the reckoning for his blood."(nasb) ======= Genesis 42:23 ============ Gen 42:23 And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.(KJV) Genesis 42:23 (And they were not aware that Ioseph vnderstoode them: for he spake vnto them by an interpreter.)(Geneva) Genèse 42:23 Ils ne savaient pas que Joseph comprenait, car il se servait avec eux d'un interprète.(FR) 23 ׃42 וְהֵם֙ לֹ֣א יֽ͏ָדְע֔וּ כִּ֥י שֹׁמֵ֖עַ יוֹסֵ֑ף כִּ֥י הַמֵּלִ֖יץ בֵּינֹתָֽם׃ Genesis Gen 42:23 They did not know, however, that Joseph understood, for there was an interpreter between them.(nasb) ======= Genesis 42:24 ============ Gen 42:24 And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.(KJV) Genesis 42:24 Then he turned from them, and wept, & turned to them againe, & communed with them, and tooke Simeon from among them, & bounde him before their eyes.(Geneva) Genèse 42:24 Il s'éloigna d'eux, pour pleurer. Il revint, et leur parla; puis il prit parmi eux Siméon, et le fit enchaîner sous leurs yeux.(FR) 24 ׃42 וַיִּסֹּ֥ב מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם וַיֵּ֑בְךְּ וַיָּ֤שָׁב אֲלֵהֶם֙ וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם וַיִּקַּ֤ח מֵֽאִתָּם֙ אֶת־שִׁמְע֔וֹן וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ר אֹת֖וֹ לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃ Genesis Gen 42:24 He turned away from them and wept. But when he returned to them and spoke to them, he took Simeon from them and bound him before their eyes.(nasb) ======= Genesis 42:25 ============ Gen 42:25 Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.(KJV) Genesis 42:25 So Ioseph commanded that they should fill their sackes with wheate, and put euery mans money againe in his sacke, and giue them vitaile for the iourney: and thus did he vnto them.(Geneva) Genèse 42:25 Joseph ordonna qu'on remplît de blé leurs sacs, qu'on remît l'argent de chacun dans son sac, et qu'on leur donnât des provisions pour la route. And their hearts sank, and they turned trembling to one another, saying, "What is this that God has done to us?"
