And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.(KJV) Genesis 44:2 And put my cup, I meane the siluer cup, in the sackes mouth of the yongest, and his corne money; he did according to the commandement that Ioseph gaue him.(Geneva) Genèse 44:2 Tu mettras aussi ma coupe, la coupe d'argent, à l'entrée du sac du plus jeune, avec l'argent de son blé. L'intendant fit ce que Joseph lui avait ordonné.(FR) 2 ׃44 וְאֶת־גְּבִיעִ֞י גְּבִ֣יעַ הַכֶּ֗סֶף תָּשִׂים֙ בְּפִי֙ אַמְתַּ֣חַת הַקָּטֹ֔ן וְאֵ֖ת כֶּ֣סֶף שִׁבְר֑וֹ וַיַּ֕עַשׂ כִּדְבַ֥ר יוֹסֵ֖ף אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֵּֽר׃ Genesis Gen 44:2 Put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his money for the grain." And he did as Joseph had told him.(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:3 ============ Gen 44:3 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.(KJV) Genesis 44:3 And in the morning the men were sent away, they, and their asses.(Geneva) Genèse 44:3 Le matin, dès qu'il fit jour, on renvoya ces gens avec leurs ânes.(FR) 3 ׃44 הַבֹּ֖קֶר א֑וֹר וְהָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים שֻׁלְּח֔וּ הֵ֖מָּה וַחֲמֹרֵיהֶֽם׃ Genesis Gen 44:3 As soon as it was light, the men were sent away, they with their donkeys.(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:4 ============ Gen 44:4 And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?(KJV) Genesis 44:4 And when they went out of the citie not farre off, Ioseph sayd to his stewarde, Vp, followe after the men: and when thou doest ouertake them, say vnto them, Wherefore haue ye rewarded euill for good?(Geneva) Genèse 44:4 Ils étaient sortis de la ville, et ils n'en étaient guère éloignés, lorsque Joseph dit à son intendant: Lève-toi, poursuis ces gens; et, quand tu les auras atteints, tu leur diras: Pourquoi avez-vous rendu le mal pour le bien?(FR) 4 ׃44 הֵ֠ם יָֽצְא֣וּ אֶת־הָעִיר֮ לֹ֣א הִרְחִיקוּ֒ וְיוֹסֵ֤ף אָמַר֙ לַֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־בֵּית֔וֹ ק֥וּם רְדֹ֖ף אַחֲרֵ֣י הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֑ים וְהִשַּׂגְתָּם֙ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם לָ֛מָּה שִׁלַּמְתֶּ֥ם רָעָ֖ה תַּ֥חַת טוֹבָֽה׃ Genesis Gen 44:4 They had just gone out of the city, and were not far off, when Joseph said to his house steward, "Up, follow the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, 'Why have you repaid evil for good?(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:5 ============ Gen 44:5 Is not this it in which my lord drinketh, and whereby indeed he divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.(KJV) Genesis 44:5 Is that not the cuppe, wherein my Lorde drinketh? and in the which he doeth deuine and prophecie? ye haue done euill in so doing.(Geneva) Genèse 44:5 N'avez-vous pas la coupe dans laquelle boit mon seigneur, et dont il se sert pour deviner? Vous avez mal fait d'agir ainsi.(FR) 5 ׃44 הֲל֣וֹא זֶ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִשְׁתֶּ֤ה אֲדֹנִי֙ בּ֔וֹ וְה֕וּא נַחֵ֥שׁ יְנַחֵ֖שׁ בּ֑וֹ הֲרֵעֹתֶ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר עֲשִׂיתֶֽם׃ Genesis Gen 44:5 Is not this the one from which my lord drinks and which he indeed uses for divination? You have done wrong in doing this.'"(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:6 ============ Gen 44:6 And he overtook them, and he spake unto them these same words.(KJV) Genesis 44:6 And when he ouertooke them, he sayde those wordes vnto them.(Geneva) Genèse 44:6 L'intendant les atteignit, et leur dit ces mêmes paroles.(FR) 6 ׃44 וַֽיַּשִּׂגֵ֑ם וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֖ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ Genesis Gen 44:6 So he overtook them and spoke these words to them.(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:7 ============ Gen 44:7 And they said unto him, Wherefore saith my lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing:(KJV) Genesis 44:7 And they answered him, Wherefore sayeth my lorde such wordes? God forbid that thy seruants should do such a thing.(Geneva) Genèse 44:7 Ils lui répondirent: Pourquoi mon seigneur parle-t-il de la sorte? Dieu préserve tes serviteurs d'avoir commis une telle action!(FR) 7 ׃44 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֔יו לָ֚מָּה יְדַבֵּ֣ר אֲדֹנִ֔י כַּדְּבָרִ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה חָלִ֙ילָה֙ לַעֲבָדֶ֔יךָ מֵעֲשׂ֖וֹת כַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ Genesis Gen 44:7 They said to him, "Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants to do such a thing.(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:8 ============ Gen 44:8 Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord's house silver or gold?(KJV) Genesis 44:8 Behold, the money which we found in our sackes mouthes, wee brought againe to thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steale out of thy lordes house siluer or golde?(Geneva) Genèse 44:8 Voici, nous t'avons rapporté du pays de Canaan l'argent que nous avons trouvé à l'entrée de nos sacs; comment aurions-nous dérobé de l'argent ou de l'or dans la maison de ton seigneur?(FR) 8 ׃44 הֵ֣ן כֶּ֗סֶף אֲשֶׁ֤ר מָצָ֙אנוּ֙ בְּפִ֣י אַמְתְּחֹתֵ֔ינוּ הֱשִׁיבֹ֥נוּ אֵלֶ֖יךָ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וְאֵ֗יךְ נִגְנֹב֙ מִבֵּ֣ית אֲדֹנֶ֔יךָ כֶּ֖סֶף א֥וֹ זָהָֽב׃ Genesis Gen 44:8 Behold, the money which we found in the mouth of our sacks we have brought back to you from the land of Canaan. How then could we steal silver or gold from your lord's house?(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:9 ============ Gen 44:9 With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen.(KJV) Genesis 44:9 With whomesoeuer of thy seruants it bee found, let him dye, and we also will be my lordes bondmen.(Geneva) Genèse 44:9 Que celui de tes serviteurs sur qui se trouvera la coupe meure, et que nous soyons nous-mêmes esclaves de mon seigneur!(FR) 9 ׃44 אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִמָּצֵ֥א אִתּ֛וֹ מֵעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ וָמֵ֑ת וְגַם־אֲנַ֕חְנוּ נִֽהְיֶ֥ה לַֽאדֹנִ֖י לַעֲבָדִֽים׃ Genesis Gen 44:9 With whomever of your servants it is found, let him die, and we also will be my lord's slaves."(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:10 ============ Gen 44:10 And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless.(KJV) Genesis 44:10 And he said, Now then let it be according vnto your wordes: he with whome it is found, shal be my seruant, and ye shalbe blamelesse.(Geneva) Genèse 44:10 Il dit: Qu'il en soit donc selon vos paroles! Celui sur qui se trouvera la coupe sera mon esclave; et vous, vous serez innocents.(FR) 10 ׃44 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר גַּם־עַתָּ֥ה כְדִבְרֵיכֶ֖ם כֶּן־ה֑וּא אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִמָּצֵ֤א אִתּוֹ֙ יִהְיֶה־לִּ֣י עָ֔בֶד וְאַתֶּ֖ם תִּהְי֥וּ נְקִיִּֽם׃ Genesis Gen 44:10 So he said, "Now let it also be according to your words; he with whom it is found shall be my slave, and the rest of you shall be innocent."(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:11 ============ Gen 44:11 Then they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.(KJV) Genesis 44:11 Then at once euery man tooke downe his sacke to the grounde, and euery one opened his sacke.(Geneva) Genèse 44:11 Aussitôt, chacun descendit son sac à terre, et chacun ouvrit son sac.(FR) 11 ׃44 וֽ͏ַיְמַהֲר֗וּ וַיּוֹרִ֛דוּ אִ֥ישׁ אֶת־אַמְתַּחְתּ֖וֹ אָ֑רְצָה וַֽיִּפְתְּח֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ אַמְתַּחְתּֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 44:11 Then they hurried, each man lowered his sack to the ground, and each man opened his sack.(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:12 ============ Gen 44:12 And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.(KJV) Genesis 44:12 And he searched, and began at the eldest and left at the yongest: and the cuppe was found in Beniamins sacke.(Geneva) Genèse 44:12 L'intendant les fouilla, commençant par le plus âgé et finissant par le plus jeune; et la coupe fut trouvée dans le sac de Benjamin.(FR) 12 ׃44 וַיְחַפֵּ֕שׂ בַּגָּד֣וֹל הֵחֵ֔ל וּבַקָּטֹ֖ן כִּלָּ֑ה וַיִּמָּצֵא֙ הַגָּבִ֔יעַ בְּאַמְתַּ֖חַת בִּנְיָמִֽן׃ Genesis Gen 44:12 He searched, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest, and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:13 ============ Gen 44:13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.(KJV) Genesis 44:13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded euery man his asse, & went againe into the citie.(Geneva) Genèse 44:13 Ils déchirèrent leurs vêtements, chacun rechargea son âne, et ils retournèrent à la ville.(FR) 13 ׃44 וֽ͏ַיִּקְרְע֖וּ שִׂמְלֹתָ֑ם וַֽיַּעֲמֹס֙ אִ֣ישׁ עַל־חֲמֹר֔וֹ וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ הָעִֽירָה׃ Genesis Gen 44:13 Then they tore their clothes, and when each man loaded his donkey, they returned to the city.(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:14 ============ Gen 44:14 And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.(KJV) Genesis 44:14 So Iudah and his brethren came to Iosephs house (for he was yet there) and they fel before him on the ground.(Geneva) Genèse 44:14 Juda et ses frères arrivèrent à la maison de Joseph, où il était encore, et ils se prosternèrent en terre devant lui.(FR) 14 ׃44 וַיָּבֹ֨א יְהוּדָ֤ה וְאֶחָיו֙ בֵּ֣יתָה יוֹסֵ֔ף וְה֖וּא עוֹדֶ֣נּוּ שָׁ֑ם וַיִּפְּל֥וּ לְפָנָ֖יו אָֽרְצָה׃ Genesis Gen 44:14 When Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house, he was still there, and they fell to the ground before him.(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:15 ============ Gen 44:15 And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?(KJV) Genesis 44:15 Then Ioseph sayd vnto them, What acte is this, which ye haue done? know ye not that such a man as I, can deuine and prophecie?(Geneva) Genèse 44:15 Joseph leur dit: Quelle action avez-vous faite? Ne savez-vous pas qu'un homme comme moi a le pouvoir de deviner?(FR) 15 ׃44 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהֶם֙ יוֹסֵ֔ף מָֽה־הַמַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר עֲשִׂיתֶ֑ם הֲל֣וֹא יְדַעְתֶּ֔ם כִּֽי־נַחֵ֧שׁ יְנַחֵ֛שׁ אִ֖ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֥ר כָּמֹֽנִי׃ Genesis Gen 44:15 Joseph said to them, "What is this deed that you have done? Do you not know that such a man as I can indeed practice divination?"(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:16 ============ Gen 44:16 And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord's servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.(KJV) Genesis 44:16 Then sayd Iudah, What shall we say vnto my lord? what shall we speake? and howe can we iustifie our selues? God hath found out the wickednesse of thy seruants: beholde, we are seruants to my Lorde, both wee, and he, with whome the cuppe is founde.(Geneva) Genèse 44:16 Juda répondit: Que dirons-nous à mon seigneur? comment parlerons-nous? comment nous justifierons-nous? Dieu a trouvé l'iniquité de tes serviteurs. Nous voici esclaves de mon seigneur, nous, et celui sur qui s'est trouvée la coupe.(FR) 16 ׃44 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוּדָ֗ה מַה־נֹּאמַר֙ לַֽאדֹנִ֔י מַה־נְּדַבֵּ֖ר וּמַה־נִּצְטַדָּ֑ק הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים מָצָא֙ אֶת־עֲוֺ֣ן עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ הִנֶּ֤נּוּ עֲבָדִים֙ לַֽאדֹנִ֔י גַּם־אֲנַ֕חְנוּ גַּ֛ם אֲשֶׁר־נִמְצָ֥א הַגָּבִ֖יעַ בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 44:16 So Judah said, "What can we say to my lord? What can we speak? And how can we justify ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants; behold, we are my lord's slaves, both we and the one in whose possession the cup has been found."(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:17 ============ Gen 44:17 And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.(KJV) Genesis 44:17 But he answered, God forbid, that I should doe so, but the man, with whome the cuppe is founde, he shalbe my seruant, and go ye in peace vnto your father.(Geneva) Genèse 44:17 Et Joseph dit: Dieu me garde de faire cela! The man in whose possession the cup has been found, he shall be my slave; but as for you, go up in peace to your father."(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:18 ============ Gen 44:18 Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.(KJV) Genesis 44:18 Then Iudah drewe neere vnto him, and sayde, O my Lord, let thy seruant nowe speake a worde in my lordes eares, and let not thy wrath be kindled against thy seruant: for thou art euen as Pharaoh.(Geneva) Genèse 44:18 Alors Juda s'approcha de Joseph, et dit: De grâce, mon seigneur, que ton serviteur puisse faire entendre une parole à mon seigneur, et que sa colère ne s'enflamme point contre ton serviteur! car tu es comme Pharaon.(FR) 18 ׃44 וַיִּגַּ֨שׁ אֵלָ֜יו יְהוּדָ֗ה וַיֹּאמֶר֮ בִּ֣י אֲדֹנִי֒ יְדַבֶּר־נָ֨א עַבְדְּךָ֤ דָבָר֙ בְּאָזְנֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י וְאַל־יִ֥חַר אַפְּךָ֖ בְּעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ כִּ֥י כָמ֖וֹךָ כְּפַרְעֹֽה׃ Genesis Gen 44:18 Then Judah approached him, and said, "Oh my lord, may your servant please speak a word in my lord's ears, and do not be angry with your servant; for you are equal to Pharaoh.(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:19 ============ Gen 44:19 My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother?(KJV) Genesis 44:19 My Lord asked his seruants, saying, Haue ye a father, or a brother?(Geneva) Genèse 44:19 Mon seigneur a interrogé ses serviteurs, en disant: Avez-vous un père, ou un frère?(FR) 19 ׃44 אֲדֹנִ֣י שָׁאַ֔ל אֶת־עֲבָדָ֖יו לֵאמֹ֑ר הֲיֵשׁ־לָכֶ֥ם אָ֖ב אוֹ־אָֽח׃ Genesis Gen 44:19 My lord asked his servants, saying, 'Have you a father or a brother?'(nasb) ======= Genesis 44:20 ============ Gen 44:20 And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him.(KJV) Genesis 44:20 And we answered my Lorde, We haue a father that is olde, and a young childe, which he begate in his age: and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loueth him.(Geneva) Genèse 44:20 Nous avons répondu: Nous avons un vieux père, et un jeune frère, enfant de sa vieillesse; cet enfant avait un frère qui est mort, et qui était de la même mère; il reste seul, et son père l'aime.(FR) 20 ׃44 וַנֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־אֲדֹנִ֔י יֶשׁ־לָ֙נוּ֙ אָ֣ב זָקֵ֔ן וְיֶ֥לֶד זְקֻנִ֖ים קָטָ֑ן וְאָחִ֨יו מֵ֜ת וַיִּוָּתֵ֨ר ה֧וּא לְבַדּ֛וֹ לְאִמּ֖וֹ וְאָבִ֥יו אֲהֵבֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 44:20 We said to my lord, 'We have an old father and a little child of his old age.
