Today's Date: 4/10/2025 ======= Nehemiah 5:1 ============ Neh 5:1 And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:1 Nowe there was a great crie of the people, and of their wiues against their brethren the Iewes.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:1 Il s'éleva de la part des gens du peuple et de leurs femmes de grandes plaintes contre leurs frères les Juifs.(FR) 1 ׃5 וַתְּהִ֨י צַעֲקַ֥ת הָעָ֛ם וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם גְּדוֹלָ֑ה אֶל־אֲחֵיהֶ֖ם הַיְּהוּדִֽים׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:1 Now there was a great outcry of the people and of their wives against their Jewish brothers.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:2 ============ Neh 5:2 For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:2 For there were that said, We, our sonnes & our daughters are many, therefore we take vp corne, that we may eate and liue.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:2 Les uns disaient: Nous, nos fils et nos filles, nous sommes nombreux; qu'on nous donne du blé, afin que nous mangions et que nous vivions.(FR) 2 ׃5 וְיֵשׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֹמְרִ֔ים בָּנֵ֥ינוּ וּבְנֹתֵ֖ינוּ אֲנַ֣חְנוּ רַבִּ֑ים וְנִקְחָ֥ה דָגָ֖ן וְנֹאכְלָ֥ה וְנִחְיֶֽה׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:2 For there were those who said, "We, our sons and our daughters are many; therefore let us get grain that we may eat and live."(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:3 ============ Neh 5:3 Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:3 And there were that saide, We must gage our landes, and our vineyardes, and our houses, and take vp corne for the famine.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:3 D'autres disaient: Nous engageons nos champs, nos vignes, et nos maisons, pour avoir du blé pendant la famine.(FR) 3 ׃5 וְיֵשׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֹמְרִ֔ים שְׂדֹתֵ֛ינוּ וּכְרָמֵ֥ינוּ וּבָתֵּ֖ינוּ אֲנַ֣חְנוּ עֹרְבִ֑ים וְנִקְחָ֥ה דָגָ֖ן בָּרָעָֽב׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:3 There were others who said, "We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our houses that we might get grain because of the famine."(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:4 ============ Neh 5:4 There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:4 There were also that said, We haue borowed money for the Kings tribute vpon our landes and our vineyardes.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:4 D'autres disaient: Nous avons emprunté de l'argent sur nos champs et nos vignes pour le tribut du roi.(FR) 4 ׃5 וְיֵשׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֹמְרִ֔ים לָוִ֥ינוּ כֶ֖סֶף לְמִדַּ֣ת הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ שְׂדֹתֵ֖ינוּ וּכְרָמֵֽינוּ׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:4 Also there were those who said, "We have borrowed money for the king's tax on our fields and our vineyards.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:5 ============ Neh 5:5 Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:5 And nowe our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, and our sonnes as their sonnes: and lo, we bring into subiection our sonnes and our daughters, as seruants, and there be of our daughters nowe in subiection, and there is no power in our handes: for other men haue our landes and our vineyardes.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:5 Et pourtant notre chair est comme la chair de nos frères, nos enfants sont comme leurs enfants; et voici, nous soumettons à la servitude nos fils et nos filles, et plusieurs de nos filles y sont déjà réduites; nous sommes sans force, et nos champs et nos vignes sont à d'autres.(FR) 5 ׃5 וְעַתָּ֗ה כִּבְשַׂ֤ר אַחֵ֙ינוּ֙ בְּשָׂרֵ֔נוּ כִּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם בָּנֵ֑ינוּ וְהִנֵּ֣ה אֲנַ֣חְנוּ כֹ֠בְשִׁים אֶת־בָּנֵ֨ינוּ וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵ֜ינוּ לַעֲבָדִ֗ים וְיֵ֨שׁ מִבְּנֹתֵ֤ינוּ נִכְבָּשׁוֹת֙ וְאֵ֣ין לְאֵ֣ל יָדֵ֔נוּ וּשְׂדֹתֵ֥ינוּ וּכְרָמֵ֖ינוּ לַאֲחֵרִֽים׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:5 Now our flesh is like the flesh of our brothers, our children like their children. Yet behold, we are forcing our sons and our daughters to be slaves, and some of our daughters are forced into bondage already, and we are helpless because our fields and vineyards belong to others."(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:6 ============ Neh 5:6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:6 Then was I very angrie when I heard their crie and these wordes.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:6 Je fus très irrité lorsque j'entendis leurs plaintes et ces paroles-là.(FR) 6 ׃5 וַיִּ֥חַר לִ֖י מְאֹ֑ד כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ אֶת־זַֽעֲקָתָ֔ם וְאֵ֖ת הַדְּבָרִ֥ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:6 Then I was very angry when I had heard their outcry and these words.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:7 ============ Neh 5:7 Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:7 And I thought in my minde, and I rebuked the princes, and the rulers, and saide vnto them, You lay burthens euery one vpon his brethren: and I set a great assemblie against them,(Geneva) Néhémie 5:7 Je résolus de faire des réprimandes aux grands et aux magistrats, et je leur dis: Quoi! vous prêtez à intérêt à vos frères! Et je rassemblai autour d'eux une grande foule,(FR) 7 ׃5 וַיִּמָּלֵ֨ךְ לִבִּ֜י עָלַ֗י וָאָרִ֙יבָה֙ אֶת־הַחֹרִ֣ים וְאֶת־הַסְּגָנִ֔ים וָאֹמְרָ֣ה לָהֶ֔ם מַשָּׁ֥א אִישׁ־בְּאָחִ֖יו אַתֶּ֣ם *נשאים **נֹשִׁ֑ים וָאֶתֵּ֥ן עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם קְהִלָּ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:7 I consulted with myself and contended with the nobles and the rulers and said to them, "You are exacting usury, each from his brother!" Therefore, I held a great assembly against them.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:8 ============ Neh 5:8 And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:8 And I said vnto them, We (according to our abilitie) haue redeemed our brethren the Iewes, which were solde vnto the heathen: and will you sell your brethren againe, or shall they be solde vnto vs? Then helde they their peace, and could not answere.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:8 et je leur dis: Nous avons racheté selon notre pouvoir nos frères les Juifs vendus aux nations; et vous vendriez vous-mêmes vos frères, et c'est à nous qu'ils seraient vendus! Ils se turent, ne trouvant rien à répondre.(FR) 8 ׃5 וָאֹמְרָ֣ה לָהֶ֗ם אֲנַ֣חְנוּ קָ֠נִינוּ אֶת־אַחֵ֨ינוּ הַיְּהוּדִ֜ים הַנִּמְכָּרִ֤ים לַגּוֹיִם֙ כְּדֵ֣י בָ֔נוּ וְגַם־אַתֶּ֛ם תִּמְכְּר֥וּ אֶת־אֲחֵיכֶ֖ם וְנִמְכְּרוּ־לָ֑נוּ וֽ͏ַיַּחֲרִ֔ישׁוּ וְלֹ֥א מָצְא֖וּ דָּבָֽר׃ ס Nehemiah Neh 5:8 I said to them, "We according to our ability have redeemed our Jewish brothers who were sold to the nations; now would you even sell your brothers that they may be sold to us?" Then they were silent and could not find a word to say.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:9 ============ Neh 5:9 Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?(KJV) Nehemiah 5:9 I said also, That which ye do, is not good. Ought ye not to walke in the feare of our God, for the reproche of the heathen our enemies?(Geneva) Néhémie 5:9 Puis je dis: Ce que vous faites n'est pas bien. Ne devriez-vous pas marcher dans la crainte de notre Dieu, pour n'être pas insultés par les nations nos ennemies?(FR) 9 ׃5 *ויאמר **וָאוֹמַ֕ר לֹא־ט֥וֹב הַדָּבָ֖ר אֲשֶׁר־אַתֶּ֣ם עֹשִׂ֑ים הֲל֞וֹא בְּיִרְאַ֤ת אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙ תֵּלֵ֔כוּ מֵחֶרְפַּ֖ת הַגּוֹיִ֥ם אוֹיְבֵֽינוּ׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:9 Again I said, "The thing which you are doing is not good; should you not walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the nations, our enemies?(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:10 ============ Neh 5:10 I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:10 For euen I, my brethren, and my seruants doe lende them money and corne: I pray you, let vs leaue off this burden.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:10 Moi aussi, et mes frères et mes serviteurs, nous leur avons prêté de l'argent et du blé. Abandonnons ce qu'ils nous doivent!(FR) 10 ׃5 וְגַם־אֲנִי֙ אַחַ֣י וּנְעָרַ֔י נֹשִׁ֥ים בָּהֶ֖ם כֶּ֣סֶף וְדָגָ֑ן נַֽעַזְבָה־נָּ֖א אֶת־הַמַּשָּׁ֥א הַזֶּֽה׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:10 And likewise I, my brothers and my servants are lending them money and grain. Please, let us leave off this usury.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:11 ============ Neh 5:11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:11 Restore, I pray you, vnto them this day their landes, their vineyardes, their oliues, & their houses, and remit the hundreth part of the siluer and of the corne, of the wine, and of the oyle that ye exact of them.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:11 Rendez-leur donc aujourd'hui leurs champs, leurs vignes, leurs oliviers et leurs maisons, et le centième de l'argent, du blé, du moût et de l'huile que vous avez exigé d'eux comme intérêt.(FR) 11 ׃5 הָשִׁיבוּ֩ נָ֨א לָהֶ֜ם כְּהַיּ֗וֹם שְׂדֹתֵיהֶ֛ם כַּרְמֵיהֶ֥ם זֵיתֵיהֶ֖ם וּבָתֵּיהֶ֑ם וּמְאַ֨ת הַכֶּ֤סֶף וְהַדָּגָן֙ הַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְהַיִּצְהָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתֶּ֖ם נֹשִׁ֥ים בָּהֶֽם׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:11 Please, give back to them this very day their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money and of the grain, the new wine and the oil that you are exacting from them."(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:12 ============ Neh 5:12 Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:12 Then said they, We will restore it, and will not require it of them: we will doe as thou hast said. Then I called the Priestes, and caused them to sweare, that they shoulde doe according to this promes.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:12 Ils répondirent: Nous les rendrons, et nous ne leur demanderons rien, nous ferons ce que tu dis. Alors j'appelai les sacrificateurs, devant lesquels je les fis jurer de tenir parole.(FR) 12 ׃5 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ נָשִׁ֗יב וּמֵהֶם֙ לֹ֣א נְבַקֵּ֔שׁ כֵּ֣ן נַעֲשֶׂ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר אַתָּ֣ה אוֹמֵ֑ר וָאֶקְרָא֙ אֶת־הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וָֽאַשְׁבִּיעֵ֔ם לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת כַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:12 Then they said, "We will give it back and will require nothing from them; we will do exactly as you say." So I called the priests and took an oath from them that they would do according to this promise.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:13 ============ Neh 5:13 Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:13 So I shooke my lappe, and said, So let God shake out euery man that wil not perfourme this promise from his house, & from his labour: euen thus let him be shaken out, & emptied; all the Cogregation said, Amen, & praised the Lord: and the people did according to this promes.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:13 Et je secouai mon manteau, en disant: Que Dieu secoue de la même manière hors de sa maison et de ses biens tout homme qui n'aura point tenu parole, et qu'ainsi cet homme soit secoué et laissé à vide! Toute l'assemblée dit: Amen! On célébra l'Eternel. Et le peuple tint parole.(FR) 13 ׃5 גַּם־חָצְנִ֣י נָעַ֗רְתִּי וָֽאֹמְרָ֡ה כָּ֣כָה יְנַעֵ֪ר הָֽאֱלֹהִ֟ים אֶת־כָּל־הָאִישׁ֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹֽא־יָקִ֜ים אֶת־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֗ה מִבֵּיתוֹ֙ וּמִ֣יגִיע֔וֹ וְכָ֛כָה יִהְיֶ֥ה נָע֖וּר וָרֵ֑ק וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ כָֽל־הַקָּהָ֜ל אָמֵ֗ן וַֽיְהַלְלוּ֙ אֶת־יְהוָ֔ה וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָעָ֖ם כַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:13 I also shook out the front of my garment and said, "Thus may God shake out every man from his house and from his possessions who does not fulfill this promise; even thus may he be shaken out and emptied." And all the assembly said, "Amen!" And they praised the Lord. Then the people did according to this promise. (nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:14 ============ Neh 5:14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:14 And from the time that the King gaue me charge to be gouernour in the lande of Iudah, from the twentieth yeere, euen vnto the two and thirtieth yeere of King Artahshashte, that is, twelue yeere, I, and my brethren haue not eaten the bread of the gouernour.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:14 Dès le jour où le roi m'établit leur gouverneur dans le pays de Juda, depuis la vingtième année jusqu'à la trente-deuxième année du roi Artaxerxès, pendant douze ans, ni moi ni mes frères n'avons vécu des revenus du gouverneur.(FR) 14 ׃5 גַּ֞ם מִיּ֣וֹם ׀ אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֣ה אֹתִ֗י לִהְי֣וֹת פֶּחָם֮ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָה֒ מִשְּׁנַ֣ת עֶשְׂרִ֗ים וְ֠עַד שְׁנַ֨ת שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּשְׁתַּ֙יִם֙ לְאַרְתַּחְשַׁ֣סְתְּא הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ שָׁנִ֖ים שְׁתֵּ֣ים עֶשְׂרֵ֑ה אֲנִ֣י וְאַחַ֔י לֶ֥חֶם הַפֶּ֖חָה לֹ֥א אָכַֽלְתִּי׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:14 Moreover, from the day that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year to the thirty-second year of King Artaxerxes, for twelve years, neither I nor my kinsmen have eaten the governor's food allowance.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:15 ============ Neh 5:15 But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:15 For the former gouernours that were before me, had bene chargeable vnto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, besides fourtie shekels of siluer: yea, and their seruants bare rule ouer the people: but so did not I, because of the feare of God.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:15 Avant moi, les premiers gouverneurs accablaient le peuple, et recevaient de lui du pain et du vin, outre quarante sicles d'argent; leurs serviteurs mêmes opprimaient le peuple. Je n'ai point agi de la sorte, par crainte de Dieu.(FR) 15 ׃5 וְהַפַּחוֹת֩ הָרִאשֹׁנִ֨ים אֲשֶׁר־לְפָנַ֜י הִכְבִּ֣ידוּ עַל־הָעָ֗ם וַיִּקְח֨וּ מֵהֶ֜ם בְּלֶ֤חֶם וָיַ֙יִן֙ אַחַר֙ כֶּֽסֶף־שְׁקָלִ֣ים אַרְבָּעִ֔ים גַּ֥ם נַעֲרֵיהֶ֖ם שָׁלְט֣וּ עַל־הָעָ֑ם וַאֲנִי֙ לֹא־עָשִׂ֣יתִי כֵ֔ן מִפְּנֵ֖י יִרְאַ֥ת אֱלֹהִֽים׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:15 But the former governors who were before me laid burdens on the people and took from them bread and wine besides forty shekels of silver; even their servants domineered the people. But I did not do so because of the fear of God.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:16 ============ Neh 5:16 Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:16 But rather I fortified a portio in the worke of this wall, and we bought no lande, and all my seruants came thither together vnto the worke.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:16 Bien plus, j'ai travaillé à la réparation de cette muraille, et nous n'avons acheté aucun champ, et mes serviteurs tous ensemble étaient à l'ouvrage.(FR) 16 ׃5 וְ֠גַם בִּמְלֶ֜אכֶת הַחוֹמָ֤ה הַזֹּאת֙ הֶחֱזַ֔קְתִּי וְשָׂדֶ֖ה לֹ֣א קָנִ֑ינוּ וְכָל־נְעָרַ֔י קְבוּצִ֥ים שָׁ֖ם עַל־הַמְּלָאכָֽה׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:16 I also applied myself to the work on this wall; we did not buy any land, and all my servants were gathered there for the work.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:17 ============ Neh 5:17 Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:17 Moreouer there were at my table an hundreth & fiftie of the Iewes, & rulers, which came vnto vs from among the heathen that are about vs.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:17 J'avais à ma table cent cinquante hommes, Juifs et magistrats, outre ceux qui venaient à nous des nations d'alentour.(FR) 17 ׃5 וְהַיְּהוּדִ֨ים וְהַסְּגָנִ֜ים מֵאָ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֣ים אִ֗ישׁ וְהַבָּאִ֥ים אֵלֵ֛ינוּ מִן־הַגּוֹיִ֥ם אֲשֶׁר־סְבִיבֹתֵ֖ינוּ עַל־שֻׁלְחָנִֽי׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:17 Moreover, there were at my table one hundred and fifty Jews and officials, besides those who came to us from the nations that were around us.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:18 ============ Neh 5:18 Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.(KJV) Nehemiah 5:18 And there was prepared daily an oxe, and sixe chosen sheepe, and birdes were prepared for me, and within ten dayes wine for all in abundance. Yet for all this I required not the bread of the gouernour: for the bondage was grieuous vnto this people.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:18 On m'apprêtait chaque jour un boeuf, six moutons choisis, et des oiseaux; et tous les dix jours on préparait en abondance tout le vin nécessaire. Malgré cela, je n'ai point réclamé les revenus du gouverneur, parce que les travaux étaient à la charge de ce peuple.(FR) 18 ׃5 וַאֲשֶׁר֩ הָיָ֨ה נַעֲשֶׂ֜ה לְי֣וֹם אֶחָ֗ד שׁ֣וֹר אֶחָ֞ד צֹ֠אן שֵׁשׁ־בְּרֻר֤וֹת וְצִפֳּרִים֙ נַֽעֲשׂוּ־לִ֔י וּבֵ֨ין עֲשֶׂ֧רֶת יָמִ֛ים בְּכָל־יַ֖יִן לְהַרְבֵּ֑ה וְעִם־זֶ֗ה לֶ֤חֶם הַפֶּחָה֙ לֹ֣א בִקַּ֔שְׁתִּי כִּֽי־כָֽבְדָ֥ה הָעֲבֹדָ֖ה עַל־הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּֽה׃ Nehemiah Neh 5:18 Now that which was prepared for each day was one ox and six choice sheep, also birds were prepared for me; and once in ten days all sorts of wine were furnished in abundance. Yet for all this I did not demand the governor's food allowance, because the servitude was heavy on this people.(nasb) ======= Nehemiah 5:19 ============ Neh 5:19 Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.(kjv) Nehemiah 5:19 Remember me, O my God, in goodnesse, according to all that I haue done for this people.(Geneva) Néhémie 5:19 Souviens-toi favorablement de moi, ô mon Dieu, à cause de tout ce que j'ai fait pour ce peuple!(FR) 19 ׃5 זָכְרָה־לִּ֥י אֱלֹהַ֖י לְטוֹבָ֑ה כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֖יתִי עַל־הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּֽה׃ פ Nehemiah Neh 5:19 Remember me, O my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
